So I propose this: yknow how sometimes when you get a splinter there’s a sharp bit poking out that you can’t really see but you can feel if you touch the splinter? He’s covered in tiny invisible razor-thin spines that at a distance might appear in weird lighting conditions as a funky halo. Only after you get within arms reach do you see the spikes.
