I’d also have two nickels for every time a character in his media died together as the world collapsed in on him.
Side note, Sam is so Eye-coded in this last episode. I know he started off kinda Webby, but now he really do be supplemental I’m lost in the tunnels. Maybe he and the Archivist will bond over a desire for knowledge? Or he’ll at least get some answers.

Anyway, so about the latest episode…
My little theory is that Sam and Celia aren’t gonna find anything with Helen either. It’s a different world, and there’s 7 billion people. What’re the odds that the same people (without any prior knowledge cELIA) would be influenced or connected to cosmic powers twice over? I’m pretty sure Celia hasn’t quite realized this yet, or she’s hoping in spite of it. See, tmagp isn’t a direct sequel to tma, as much as we wish it was. I think Celia is trying to find answers from the people who knew the answers in the other world, because she’s hoping they might’ve crossed over like she did. All the people she’s suggested are those who she’s met. Basira? They worked together while trying to fix the world. Helen? Tried to eat her! Georgie? She was in her goddamned cult! Jon and Martin? Must I say anything? Gerry and Gertrude were found because they had an actual connection to the Magnus Institute and Sam and Celia found it. So maybe we’ll see Melanie King (I hope pls pls pls), but I really don’t think we’ll find too much more than that, at least from Celia.
Just don’t fall for the trap of assuming characters from tma will be involved.

Here’s the thing, as happy as I am that Colin’s alive, it makes sense that he will probably die (or quit and refuse to reach out and share his knowledge) now that we have a piece of the puzzle. Of course, this could all be us seeing stuff when it isn’t there, and he’ll survive until the end. I don’t know though, I feel like he’s at home now because something happened and he figured it out. I think the ‘He’ from the episode is FR3-D1 or the head of the OIAR, and I think he might’ve hidden at home to avoid getting hunted down or framed (brutal pipe murder reference) or something.
Because he’s definitely figured something out. All that talk of alchemy in the episode, the symbols on the logo, and this.

That’s the spirit (mercury), body (salt), and soul (sulfur). Yes I am American and say sulfur. Unfortunately
My tiny little theory (tell me if it’s obvious) is that these all correspond to a specific catagory. Catagory 3 is the body, the objects like the dice or the stupid capitalist stonks game. Catagory 1 is the soul, the people who are the Externals.
I’ll admit I was in between on whether Cat 1 was mercury or sulfur, because maybe the Externals are more likely to kill or take over, which would end the world, it’s not a perfect theory, but I was convinced by the first search that came up when I googled the alchemy Tria Prima.
I’ve got the image attached at the bottom since I’m not enough good with Tumblr to know how to continue text under an image. Sorry
But what it says is that sulphur is the seat of emotions and desires, and that reminds me of two things: 1, the theory that the Fears have changed to desires, and 2, the idea that Avatars are less pure to their chosen Entity than objects, because emotions get in the way. Cat 2 is places, and I feel like those are the closest to actual Entities (keep in mind I’m using the Smirke sorting for fun and clarity, I believe in Gerry and his color theory). What also makes a bit of sense then is what Colin said about too much mercury ending the world, as the Fears coming into the world literally led to its end in TMA.
But if you’ll check the amount of each Catagory, I’m pretty sure 2 is the most common one. Maybe that’s why the OIAR has Externals, to prompt them to act when balance needs to be restored. Maybe the Magnus Institute was in on it, and Artifact Storage uses one of their items whenever the balance is too low. Maybe it’s like the rituals and there’s no need for a balance at all. Either way, we’re all gonna cook up some new theories now. Thanks for listening, and feel free to comment any theories that you have, because I’d love to talk with you guys!
Okay so the first Augustus Casement was about someone learning to be an Avatar (or External idk) and the second one bore a striking similarity to Alice’s encounter with Victim, which had a Tape Recorder (capitalized because I love them). Personally, I’ve got the wild theory that the voice of Augustus is the OG Jonah Magnus, because his body was also in the Panopticon with Jon and Martin. Maybe this bitch is trying to go back to statements, because he wants out of the puter.

If you ask me what my favorite part about the magnus archives is I would say it’s the characterization. Not a single character is one dimensional. Martin, the lighthearted almost comedic relief character, the guy who had a crush on his boss and brought the guy tea like every day was the most pragmatic character in the end. He escaped prentiss and prepared for her attack, outsmarted Peter Lucas, got HIMSELF out of the lonely, and he always, without fail, knew the harsh reality of every situation. Jonathan sims aka the archivist is shown to be a grumpy, gloomy, and all around skeptical person, but his actions don’t reflect that. He desperately digs for answers, refuses to ask himself questions before running into dangerous situations, and he’s such a hopeless romantic. The man with every fact or hard truth in the book likes to imagine he might be good.
It’s the same in the magnus protocol
Alice is funny and carefree, she jokes and talks without thinking, she likes to tell people they are doomed, likes to joke about the bleakness of life, but it’s so obvious she believes in something brighter. Or she at least believes in loving the people around you to the point where at her lowest she manages to pick herself up by the boot straps and LEARN. Her friends are dead or gone and all she can think about is finding out how to fix it, forward motion. Celia is complex specifically in her feelings. She doesn’t seem to regret throwing Sam to the wolves necessarily, but she’s scared for him, guilty. Her guilt eats her alive even if she would have done the same thing again, for her baby, for her life. Gwen is interesting because through every single one of her arrogant, snobby, “I’m better than you”s, she never ever believes it. She might think she’s better, might reach for power, claw her way to the top, but does she ever actually think she’s better? Would she ever have the confidence in herself to ask for help, she is stuck in a limbo state where she wants to be separate from everyone but can’t help but to seek their company, even when it’s clear she isn’t even welcome.
