As he's sprinting to Henry's rooms, he texts Gerri with shaking fingers: Get B to H's room NOW He keys in, grateful that Henry is still sleeping and that he didn't find out alone or from someone far less sympathetic to his circumstances. A flash of an old memory rears its ugly head: his brother and the devastation on his face when their cousin outed him at a family dinner. How he was only a child and didn't even know what being gay meant but understood in an instant that his eldest, most daring brother was afraid, and there was nothing he could do to stop the ugly chaos that followed. Henry wakes with a start, shocked to see him. "Shaan? What's wrong?"

Here's another snippet from my Flashback When You Met Me - this is in scene one from the first time that Alex noticed Henry and it makes me laugh (and maybe I need encouragement to keep writing this fic)

Nora sneaks another investigative look over her shoulder. “I thought you usually hated the pretentious type.” She isn’t wrong. Usually, the whole stiff-collar-and-pressed-slacks thing would send Alex running — he has no interest in dating some stuck-up-dude-bro who thrives off of daddy’s money and would try to, like, sell him stocks or get him to invest in his “totally legit” pyramid scheme selling knives as pillow talk — but this man seems…different. Softer. Alex doesn’t respond. Instead, he claims, “I’m gonna go over there.”

Six Sentence Sunday!

It's still MORNING here, y'all. Look at ME, posting my part in the MORNING. Don't get used to this haha.

A million thanks to @kiwiana-writes for always greeting me with a tag on these Sunday mornings and forever blowing my mind that someone as wildly talented as you actually wants to read what I write, and to my lovely @ssmtskw for being the sweetest, loveliest human and for giving me a tag this morning as well! I adore you both, and I thank you so so much.

Without further ado, here you are!

“You remember last Christmas?” Of course he remembers. While not the first time Alex had rung him at an ungodly hour of the night, his voice providing the perfect soundtrack to another waking stretch of twilight hours looming ahead of Henry like a lonely, abandoned path that he frequently traversed alone, it was the first time Alex had sought him out for counsel. The first time he’d been made privy to the inner workings not of Alex’s brilliant mind but of his equally brilliant heart. His first glimpse not at the perfect First Son of the United States, all charming smiles and clever quips, but of a youngest child who wanted nothing more than a quiet, peaceful holiday spent with a family fractured into two pieces years before, their jagged edges still capable of wounding all who ventured too close. It was the words of a son tired of straddling the ever-widening chasm between two pieces of his heart. Henry wouldn’t forget that night, couldn’t forget that night, and all of the private thoughts and fears that Alex had entrusted him with, for as long as he lived. “I do,” is all that Henry manages around the lump in his throat.

WIP Wednesday

I was tagged by @ssmtskw @sherryvalli @littlemisskittentoes @heybuddy-drabbles @rockyroadkylers @inexplicablymine @anincompletelist @affectionatelyrs (wow that's a lot of tags, thank youuuu!)

I basically have one child right now (outside of SSASC but that's a co-parent situation), and it is so long (rip me) that no matter how many snippets I share it doesn't run out. Later today or tomorrow I'll finally do a poll to baptise it so stay tuned for that!

Despite everything Alex needs to take a moment to look at Henry, so far he has only seen Henry in training clothes over the past few weeks, and before that he had only ever seen him either wearing a sparkly competition outfit or his country’s uniform. He never thought he would ever be able to bear witness to the sight of Henry Fox wearing jeans and a sweater. Blue soft fabric on top of white skin, the sight of a shirt collar peeking through on top of the sweater, jeans that give Alex a sight of Henry’s legs he hadn’t seen before. He looks infuriatingly human. Alex hates it.

I wish for the day when this is finished really, anyway, I am banned from sharing on Sunday unless I get to at least 17k words
