march 15 /24
So, everything came crashing down on me a couple days ago. I wrote my midterm and realized later that I made a bunch of silly mistakes on it, probably costing me a good grade. Between that and grad school pressures of not knowing if I’ve been admitted or not really bore down on me. Then I had an incident at work that caused me to break down even further, so I’m happy that I have the weekend off. It’s been brutal, I had a breakdown in the snow (way more calming than whatever you pictured) and I’ve just been taking the next few days to really settle into the things I love, like reading and sobbing (complimentary) over my current ace attorney case. just know if you’re going through a hard time rn that there are always, always people and places and hobbies that can help to pick you back up. Always. Never give up, keep fighting. And if you fall, take a moment and then come back swinging!

glad i took a bit of a break last week as really crossed a lot off my to do list this week. i've also shifted my language goals a bit. i realised i wasn't really engaged with learning french beyond maintaining my duolingo streak so, in an act of self-compassion that would make my therapist proud, instead of berating myself for it, i leant in and asked why i was struggling with it. edited my pinned post to show new goals.

Cut the dopamine supply. Work in short, controlled bursts (20-30 minutes max) — even when you feel like working longer. Leave tasks unfinished. This forces your brain to stay engaged in the background without burning out. Delay gratification. After each session, step away. Don’t check results or keep pushing. Low-dopamine environment. Limit phone use, social media, and even music that triggers a dopamine spike.
