Am I the only one upset it wasn't Trent that Sir went after? Like I need that man to see how crazy Sir is so he backs off Gabi.
After Heather/Lena's two second interaction with Gabi I no longer ship Sir and Gabi. I ship Gabi with Lena now. Sir can back the fuck off now Gabi has a new psycho.
cant stop thinking about the thematic implications of gabi/sir/lacey's chosen weapons
sir's go-to is poison. it's precise, scientific. you do the math right, & you have exact control over how much you hurt someone. you dont need physical strength, you dont need direct proximity to your target at time of ingestion. it's measured, it's clean. elegant, even. but slimey, too. there's a cowardice inherent to it. it's a weapon that hits hardest when you trust its wielder. & it's also historically a women's weapon. partially because, before the invention of guns, it was one of the only murder methods that didn't require physical strength. partially because women have, historically, had the most consistent access to the food & drink consumed by those who would be their targets. i would not be surprised if there was a reveal at some point that he started using poison as a weapon when he was still too young or small for his current physicality to be of any use.
contrast that against gabi's weapon of choice: brass knuckles. brass knuckles dont require precision or grace, quite the opposite, actually. brass knuckles allow their wielder to do more direct harm to their target without an increase in skill. you have to be physically close for them to do any good. & they allow their wielder less control over the amount of harm they do their target. unless their wielder is a boxer or assassin, of which gabi is neither, those who wield brass knuckles increase their risk of killing their target in exchange for more power in any given hit. but there is no denying the violence done with brass knuckles. to use them is to face, directly, the violence one commits. & gabi is given the brass knuckles to protect herself by gina. gabi is given the role of protector, of soldier.
a knife, though? ohhh
a knife is almost the best of both worlds. lacey takes to knives long before she stabs sir. we see little baby bella clutching to them as child to protect herself against him. a knife is elegant, in a sense. a knife is the closest thing a contemporary series like found will ever come to having a sword. paired with lacey's s1 styling with her big black boots & thick leather jacket, she's almost knight-like. but a knife is not all-noble. "backstabber" as not just literal betrayal, but a metaphor of its own. & not only is lacey not given the knife, both her maternal figures are horrified when she takes it for herself. gina is shocked by it when bella has it hiding under her bed, & gabi takes it from lacey when she tries to kill sir. lacey designates herself as someone capable of violence, but is denied again & again the opportunity to fully protect herself by people who see her as neither knight nor sniveling backstabber, but perpetual helpless little girl.
More raptaurs! This time we got Tony Stark and Anakin Skywalker.
Someone please explain to me why Sir dresses himself like a villain from a 1960s kid's show. Please be serious. 🤣🤣🤣
I mean he has the gloves and everything.
Everyone is like ooohhh! He's such a scary psychopath. Meanwhile I'm like when did preppy get into cosplay? Someone please call Slater to deal with him.
@caracalliope
Ooooo can't wait to see how this plays out with ava cause she didn't look happy and now they are official
ok promise i’ll shut up soon but now i’m thinking about how in Act 1 the only game we see marvin and whizzer play is chess, where marvin clearly excels and whizzer doesn’t seem to entirely know how to play. and you can tell whizzer’s insecure abt it because he knows marvin wants a smart guy and he doesn’t feel he lives up to his expectations, and they fight and break up because marvin can’t help but be petty because he wants a smart boyfriend but not one smarter than him and someone he can still win over and it just shows how petty and immature they both are in that act that they can’t get over their childish need to prove something to each other and it has to turn into a whole thing
but then in Act 2, the only game we see them play is racquetball, a game where whizzer clearly excels because he’s the more athletic one of the pair, but even though they banter a little over winning and losing, it’s lighthearted this time. marvin, who once said winning was everything to him, is able to admit defeat and still have a good time, and it’s one of the happier songs in the musical. and then even when they play the second time and marvin is winning because whizzer is obviously sick, marvin doesn’t gloat the way he once would’ve, it’s again just light hearted banter that only turns serious when something is wrong.
i just think it’s really nice to see their maturity and growth from act 1 to act 2, especially with marvin going from making them play chess because he knows he can win to letting them play a game that he knows whizzer is better at and still enjoying himself :)
Naw fuck everything I said said about Ethan. Heather is Hugh's sister and is working with him. My main complaint with the sister theory was we haven't met her yet so it wouldn't feel as much of a twist but this gives it to us.
Hugh is a snow ranger in Kakslauttanen Arctic Village and Gabi is going for a retreat there. She had some perks from her corporate PR job, allowing her to choose between a holiday home in Barcelona and a log cabin in Finland. In the end, she went with fluffy socks and hot cocoa.
When Gabi arrives, she's greeted by a handsome man called Hugh. Apparently, he is there to ensure her comfort and safety for as long as she'll let him the duration of her stay.
Hugh leads her to her cabin on horseback. His horse is called Maya, she's a sweetheart and loves Gabi immediately.
Once Ms Gabrielle's luggage has been unloaded, Hugh walks her through the highlights in the village. He recommends the spa, the hot rocks and the forest, mostly for the wild rabbits.
Gabi thanks him for his help as he prepares to leave. He would've stayed forever if she asked.
Over the next few days, Hugh makes the same mistake time and time again. His usual rounds involve checking in on the dozen or so guests in the arctic village yet somehow he spends too long at Ms Gabrielle's. Every. Morning.
Really it's not his fault. He knocks, as usual, asks the guest if there is anything he can do for them. If yes, he stays. If no, he moves on. With Ms Gabrielle, all she does is smile and invite him in and he's powerless. Self control is a foreign concept and before he knows it, he's sitting next to her, by the fireplace, drinking the mulled wine he bought for her, just one day after she arrived.
Clearly, he has favourites. His boss can never find out that he spends nearly two hours with Ms Gabrielle each morning, let alone the fact that he brings her freshly baked cinnamon rolls and leaves them by her doorstep.
That kind of thing is frowned upon by professionals with other guests to consider.
Not him, though. Ms Gabrielle is worth the recklessness that may or may not guide him these days. With her, he can be himself, with all of his peculiarities and passions to boot. She accepts him.
This particular morning, the two are talking about why they chose Finland and who they'd want to bring next time around. For Hugh, it's his younger brother, Martin. He would love to show him the reindeer grazing in the spring time. Its so peaceful.
For Gabi, it's her father. For as long as she could remember, the man had always hated the cold. It would be nice to show him another side to the snow. Besides, he'd never left the US. This would be good for him.
Catching a glimpse of the time, Hugh sees that they've set a new record. This morning chat is coming up to three hours yet somehow he can't find it in him to feel regret. Every second in her presence was worth the potential reprimand.
As he prepares to finish his morning rounds, with a slight delay, he promises to make her dinner on his next day off. Mounting his horse, he tells her that his uncle taught him a few family recipes he'd like to show her.
Gabi watches him ride off from her window and chuckles softly to herself. This man wants to make her pasta and lobster.
As promised, two days later, Hugh is at her doorstep carrying a basket full of ingredients. That night, there is an insanely dangerous blizzard that traps them in her cabin. Not that they realised, of course. Their first date was going too well for them to check the weather forecast and risk cutting it short.
They are snowed in for three days. Its bliss. No emails, no early starts, no meetings, just lots of red wine and orgasms.
Thankfully, the cabin is warm and well stocked. Gabi is enjoying the baecation and Hugh needed an excuse to neglect the other guests. All in all, its a win.
