I also wonder just now whether his name might mean something more to Crowley because Aziraphale gifted him with his name before the beginning, even though he (Crowley-as-an-angel) didn’t really register or reciprocate in that moment. I wonder if that moment is seared into Crowley’s memory now.

All the times Crowley calls Aziraphale by name - Chronological order

A few considerations. 1) After the Ark encounter, Crowley does call Aziraphale mainly 'Angel' over the centuries (Bildad, 1793, 1827, 1862) with one exception: 1827, when Wee Morag is dying and Crowley needs the angel to realize it's too late to heal her. Which is a major clue to the fact that calling him 'Aziraphale' could be a term of endearment. 2) Which may or may not be confirmed by the drunken scene after the fire: when Crowley sees the angel almost as a ghost, he says 'Aziraphale' - not 'Angel'. 3) After the Ark, considering the plot up to Season 1, the name 'Aziraphale' comes out when Crowley is calling after delivering the Antichrist (very formal occasion) and when Crowley is scared and/or angered (where are you, you idiot) or annoyed (kick butts, shoot him), 4) The Lockdown scene starts with a very sarcastic Crowley scolding the angel because he obviously knows it's 'Aziraphale' calling (again, annoyed), but it ends with the most heavenly 'Goodnight, Angel' after realizing he can't see him, yet. 5) As for Season 2, Crowley NEVER directly calls Aziraphale by name when they are alone together (see the very satisfying aformentioned 'Angel' compilation); however, when he's talking with other angels and/or demons he uses his first name - which is most convenient since they are more vulnerable around them. 6) The Us time they never got still breaks me.

In conclusion, I totally agree with @justdecadentcollectiondestiny (read this): There's probably a very good reason why Crowley stops calling Aziraphale 'Angel' after the bookshop fire - at least he stops until everything is over with Adam and Satan. I'm also sure there's a reason why Crowley refers to him only as 'Angel' throughout the whole second season (*Cough - quiet and gentle and romantic omens - *Cough). He felt safe enough; it was the time he dared to hope that the precious, peaceful, fragile existence would really work.

Of course, this is mere speculation. But the use of the two different names has meaning. This perfectionism (intended or unintended) delivers perfectly, and you can totally perceive the rollercoaster of Crowley's feelings for Aziraphale, from Eden to You're better than that.

Meltdown

archiveofourown.org
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works

“How are you this cheerful?” Aziraphale asked with a groan. He eased his head back and closed his eyes.

Crowley’s voice came from across the room as he poured a refill. “Because I woke up almost two hours ago wanting to punch the sun, and after I realized that I needed water and painkillers and coffee, but you were dead to the world, I had to go downstairs. Got meds and a metric ton of caffeine, struck up a conversation with this really fascinating person called Dragon—”

He put the cup back in Aziraphale’s hand. Aziraphale opened his eyes in time to see Crowley dig into his pockets for something.

“I have meds for you somewhere,” he muttered, pulling his hand free. Bits of paper, a business card, and a string of condoms emerged with his fingers. He flushed and shoved everything back into the pocket, then dug into the one on the other side of his trousers until he found what he was looking for. He held up a sleeve of paracetamol in triumph. “Here they are!”

Aziraphale took the proffered medication and swallowed it down. He wasn’t sure what to think about the condoms. Was this because of last night? Surely, the two of them didn’t need condoms if they decided to have sex. They’d had a conversation about STI testing only two months ago, when Crowley got follow-up tests to make sure nothing had been missed on earlier ones, given the convoluted nature of the Nick situation. Was it a preference thing? Or was Crowley not telling him something? Could it be that after so long without sex, he had physical needs, and with Aziraphale enforcing the no-sex rule, his husband had been forced to seek it elsewhere?

The thought slashed through his chest with a pain that caused him to gasp and cough.

***** Chapter 19 (Meltdown) of Dead Right is now out! It’s the morning after their date, and things go a little sideways. I apologize in advance for the angst. I promise it will be resolved in the next chapter. I know I said this story would be angst-free but these two needed a little friction to keep the story rolling out. It will be okay, though! *ducks from readers*

– Read the chapter out on ao3! – Or start Dead Right from the beginning!

***** Fic notes: Angst-free (usually), complete tooth-rotting fluff, fake marriage, pining-while-married AU, rated E (but all spicy sections will be skippable).

Thank you to my wonderful betas @beerok23 and @unicornbeck, as well as to all you lovely people who give me no end of support! 💕

Reliable narrators do not exist. There are only degrees of unreliability.

I feel like many people have a fundamental misconception of what unreliable narrator means. It's simply a narrative vehicle not a character flaw, a sign that the character is a bad person. There are also many different types of unreliable narrators in fiction. Being an unreliable narrator doesn't necessarily mean that the character is 'wrong', it definitely doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything even if some aspects in their story are inaccurate, and only some unreliable narrators actively and consciously lie. Stories that have unreliable narrators also tend to deal with perception and memory and they often don't even have one objective truth, just different versions. It reflects real life where we know human memory is highly unreliable and vague and people can interpret same events very differently

Again. Crowley and Aziraphale.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue and Green are sitting a respectable distance apart, facing each other.
Blue: I am a solitary man. I enjoy my personal space.
Green: I also enjoy your personal space.

With no further warning, Green leaps towards Blue, tackling him to the ground for a cuddle. Blue makes no resistance.

Crowley and Aziraphale in disguise.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue arrives to the scene as Green is sulking on the floor, next to a collection of wilting potted plants. Blue looks at Green with concern.
Blue: What's wrong?
Green: Everything is bad, my plants are dying, my life is falling apart.

Blue offers Green a glass of water and a straw. Green drinks, without moving from his place on the floor.
Blue: Drink some water.
Green: Can't see how that helps, but sure.

Blue watches with mild surprise as Green jumps up, suddenly energet noic, obliviously knocking over the glass.
Green: Hey, I have energy again! I think I'll water my plants!

Soon, a caption above the foxes states "minutes later:". The formerly wilted plants are flourishing, and Green looks at them with surprise and delight. Blue, saying nothing, is looking at Green.
Green: Blue, look! My plants are ok! They just needed some water and were being dramatic about it!

thechangelingsea - The space where there is nothing

thechangelingsea - The space where there is nothing

thechangelingsea - The space where there is nothing

An angel bright, a demon bold,

Their love defied the stories told.

Beyond all time, through light and shade,

A bond unbroken, never swayed.

Upon the sea where moonlight gleams,

They whisper hope in golden dreams.

The waves may crash, the tempests cry,

Yet still they soar, yet still they fly.

Through endless skies, past heaven’s gate,

They dance defiant, laughing fate.

No chains of earth, nor law above,

Can dim the fire of their love.

And when the nightingale takes flight,

It sings their tale in silver light.

Of hope, of stars, of endless bliss,

A love that time could not dismiss.

To Catch a Ghost - A Paranormal Vlog AU

To Catch A Ghost - A Paranormal Vlog AU

To Catch a Ghost: The show where two (not) supernatural entities are on a quest to prove (or disprove) the existence of the paranormal. Without letting their unspoken feelings for each other get in the way.

Enter: a mad (?) old lady, an unassuming (haunted?) country cottage, and a nice-and-accurate book of prophecies that definitely can’t know their secrets (right??). Will they catch a ghost? Or (even more unlikely) talk?

Enjoy the show! Or else.

***** To Catch a Ghost – Read the full fic (human au, rated T) on ao3 now!

Written for the Great Omens Big Bang. Incredible artwork done by @cakegnome, beta work by @ineffablerainstorm and @beerok23. Thank you all so, so much!

Quick PSA, because there seems to be some severe lack of education regarding Asexuality among a certain bunch of opinionated people, who frankly have no place having such strong opinions about something they've demonstrated to be so ignorant about:

Asexuality =/= a lack of libido, sexual appetite, sexual drive, or sexual activity.

Asexuality does = no experience of sexual attraction.

There are many forms of attraction. For example, some of them may be: romantic attraction that you'd experience towards a romantic partner. Aesthetic attraction that you may experience when you see someone's fashion style or overall appearance. Platonic attraction that you may experience towards a close friend. Etc.

Asexuality IS a spectrum, we call it the Asexuality Umbrella; SOME people under the ace umbrella may experience no interest towards sex/intimacy whatsoever, some may experience disgust re anything sex/intimacy related, some may be indifferent or neutral about it, and some are positive or even enthusiastic about it. These things may include acts such as kissing and physical touch of the non sexual kind. ALL of these people are still asexual, and their sexual activity or lack thereof has nothing to do with it.

Asexual people may choose to engage or not in sexual activity, and the circumstances under which they choose to do so, and the reasons why, are very varied: physical pleasure, closeness to a partner, emotional connection, finding pleasure in pleasing a partner, etc, etc.

The ways in which an asexual person may choose to find their pleasure is also very varied. And yes, it may be through fiction, because it can be a safe way to do so without being expected to behave or perform in a certain way that may be uncomfortable for the individual. Nothing wrong with enjoying a good smutty book or fanfic, or comic. Harms no one involved. Enjoying this doesn't mean you're not asexual.

Asexuality does exist, and it's way more nuanced and varied than just equalling it to "not getting any."

Now read all that again, but switch Asexuality for Aromanticism. Also a spectrum, also varied, also incredibly nuanced.

So, yes. A fictional character CAN be asexual, AND also engage in sexy times with the chosen ship partner. A Queer Platonic Relationship is also a very valid option, because NEWSFLASH, sex is not the only valid bonding point of a relationship. It can be a strong, important one depending on each individual, but it's not the only way to connect with a partner.

And, NO. Asexual people are NOT "repressed." Asexual people do NOT need anyone to "change their minds". Asexuality is NOT a problem, a symptom, or a sign of trauma.

Some sources to know more about the topic:

AVEN - Asexuality Visibility and Education Network

The Invisible Orientation - by Julie Sondra Decker

The ABCs of LGBT - by Ash Hardell

ACE: What Asexuality reveals about Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex - by Angela Chen

There are many more sources out there, support groups and communities on social media that you can find mainly through AVEN, or with just a simple search about Asexuality on any search bar nowadays.

There's too much info about it now compared to some years ago to remain so ignorant about it.

Do. Better.

Also, instead of googling try duckduckgoing

Skip Google for Research

As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.  It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms

As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.  As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.

Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.

Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.

www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.

www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.

https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.

www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.

http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.

www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.

www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.

www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

I could make it on time!!

Here is my participation for the Secret Exchange Event organized by the Good Omens Reference Library Discord! I had to do something for @brenna @scullyphile , who said that they liked when Aziraphale and Crowley played with their gender, so I went with a female presentation Aziraphale, and put them in a sort of Regency area winter ball, because... why not!!

I think we can see it as a Happy New Year wishes card^^
