This week I’m fairly sure I read a lot more fic. While school and work have both kept me incredibly busy when I get free time (early in the morning or really late at night) I would relax by reading fic. As a multi-fandom person I usually read fics from multiple fandoms but this past week I went kinda crazy. 

However, Sunday I finally decided I would dive into the Sherlock fandom. Specifically johnlock. I think over a year ago I might have read a brief fic about these two but never really dived too deep into the fandom. Even though I kinda peaked at shipped them when watching the BBC show. I feel like next week I am going to have a lot more Sherlock fics.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: I’m back at it again with the soulmate aus and this is one of the best soulmate mark aus I have read. Plus, we get to see Wei Ying deal with a little bit of PTSD from his former life. (Also, I have no clue how the author managed to pick the soulmarks so well. They could not have done a better job!) 

Also, THIS is another fic I read this week which is apart continuation of this story. Wei Ying finds out about Lan Zhan’s scars.

I guess this is how I’m processing what we’re all going through right now. I had the stray thought, “What is Spider-Man doing during all this?” and this happened. On the one hand, it’s kinda sloppy and inconsistent, but on the other hand, I had the idea Sunday night and I’m posting this Wednesday night. 5 color pages in 4 nights is pretty good work. Anyway. This week I moved away from MDZS and TGCF and got hooked on a few different fandoms. I was browsing and found someone recommending this Good Omens fic and I’m so glad I read it and am reall surprised I hadn’t heard/read it before! It is for sure a new all time favorite. Anthony J Crowley is fucking great at this job. He can be sneaky, underhanded and damn ruthless but also charming and kind. It’s what makes him good at turning.

Aziraphale is just a regular Soho bookseller who loves his shop and books and good food and wine when he’s approached by a woman claiming to be MI5, wanting to recruit him for espionage. The poor man is too trusting and gets the shock of his life when he’s approached by a charming but dangerous-looking man also claiming to be MI5.

Crowley recruits Aziraphale to double cross a double crosser and Aziraphale takes to espionage like a duck to water.

Danger, hijinks, and sex ensue.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: A human au I didn’t know I needed! Somehow the author manages to blend everything really well into a human au while keeping everyone in character.

Eliot’s stomach drops as he realizes tat this a terrible fucking mistake, because this ain’t a random elderly woman showing up to collect cans or take up donations or whatever it is that elderly woman in weirdfucking places like Portland do. This is Hardison’s nana, and Eliot has just opened the door to the apartment--to Hardison and Parker’s apartment--like he lives there.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: When Hardison’s Nana visits Eliot ends up feeling like an outsider. This fic showed us Eliot’s insecurities and how he feels like he’s intruding but Parker and Hardison prove his isn’t true with the bonus of introducing us to Hardison’s Nana! (We need more fics with Nana.)

When he’s sure that it’s bound to mess everything up. There’s a catch, though; even though no one (Jim included) knows it, this is the very same Spock that Jim was best friends with as a kid.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: An amazing fic about what it would have been like if Kirk and Spock were childhood friends. The author has an amazing talent of writing everyone in character and making sure that you get hooked and can’t put the story down. I knew by the second chapter this was going to be a new favorite and by the time I finished had already recommended to one of my besties.

I would just like to take a second to thank every single fanfiction writer who’s ever published a fic. In the last 3 weeks, I’ve read over 890,000 words of fanfiction while in quarantine. I know legally, fanfiction writers are not considered “essential” but let me tell you: they are essential to me. Essential to my sanity, my wellbeing, my happiness. Fic gives me so much joy and such a love for the world and the people in it, and fic writers don’t ask for anything in return, except occasional engagement. So from the bottom of my heart: thank you fic writers. Thank you for keeping me company during this time of isolation. Thank you for writing stories that give me hope and take my mind off of my anxiety. Thank you for making me laugh even when I don’t think it’s possible. Thank you for giving me something to be excited about when it feels like the world is falling apart around me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 

Not only would it be super cool to fix up some of the old books my grandma and I own, but I really wanna make some hard copies of my favorite fics. That would be so cool!

I read a LOT of fanfic and so I figured why not share the stories I enjoyed reading on a weekly bases. My goal is to (hopefully) post each Monday sharing the fics I enjoyed from multiple fandoms. These lists will not include every fic I read over the week but the ones I especially liked. (I might include fic I’m rereading but idk yet.)

So, I really got into The Untamed on Netflix a couple of months ago which lead me to watching the donghua before reading the book. After that, I discovered Heaven Official’s Blessing. In other words, I’ve gotten a little obsessed with these new worlds and fandoms and have been mainly reading fics from these two fandoms.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: I adore all different types of soulmate au’s and have never read one like this before. The idea is honestly really tragic because you can love someone your whole life and then you only find out when they die that they were not your soulmate. I would definitely love to read more fics with this type of soulmate au.

He learns that his soulmate may not be living as sheltered life as preferred, considering that fact. And he learns the name for the emotion that had sent his heart into overdrive.

Lan Zhan learns that day that he does not like Fear at all.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: I actually read this fic after The Cruelty of Fate and didn’t realize for a while it was by the same author. One of the things I like the most is we get to see more of an inside to Lan Zhan’s emotions and feelings. This fic did make me fairly emotion though, especially when we get to the siege of the Burial Mounds.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: I really enjoyed how the difference of Xie Lian and San Lang being soul mates makes to the overall story we already know. I especially love how we get to see San Lang comforting and supporting Xie Lian when he is going through a rough time.

Feng Xin should’ve let the past stay in the past, but when he found out his old best friend’s house was going to be demolished after being on the market for so long with no buyers, he made a stupid decision. He actually bought the house. He knew it would come with baggage, but he didn’t realize the baggage would come in the form of ghosts.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: I had not ready any Feng Xin x Mu Qing fics until this one (even though I was mostly focused on hualian) and I actually kinda liked it. Anyways, this is an amazing modern au that did great job at keeping true to the characters. I also really enjoyed how we get to read about how Xie Lian is able to come to terms with everything that has happened to him and get his happy ending.
