I love it when people try to claim representation in fiction is being taken “too far” to the point where it’s no believable. They’re like:
“What’s next, a mixed-race immigrant on the autism spectrum?” Hi, my name is Rachel, also known as Rachna, and I’m a mixed-race immigrant on the autism spectrum.
“What’s next, a transgender Latino man with chronic pain?” What, you mean my former colleague, Marco?
“What’s next, a Black Jewish lesbian?” Bitch, I know I three Black Jewish lesbians, WHAT’S YOUR FUCKING POINT?
and don't forget:
"Oh, we can figure it out next week." *Doesn't give time to work on it next week*
*Laughs when someone is stressed* "I'm not laughing."
"Why are you all so tired?" *It's literally 8oclock*
*I slightly raise my voice* "Don't yell at me."
*Doesn't tell me the set for a scene* "You should know the set!"
things my director has said and done that makes me hate them so much:
"Oh, we don't need to worry about lights and sound until tech rehearsals, you don't need to write anything down." *a little later* "Why didn't you write anything down?"
"This show will be much less stressful." *adds projections*
*casts new company members as actors instead of letting me ask them about backstage work*
"You have no reason to be stressed out."
YESSSSSS THANK YOU! I got diagnosed with juvenile arthritis when I was 8, and only just now got a mobility aid to help me, because since i've been in remission (touch wood) for the last 4-5 years, whenever I tell people I'm disabled they act really surprised or just... don't believe me... (for some reason)
But I'm so happy that this post showed up for me!
Friendly reminder that:
Young people can have arthritis too.
There are hundreds of life long conditions and diseases out there that are typically diagnosed between 12 and 30.
There is a vast difference between being tired and having chronic fatigue.
Just because you can’t tell that someone is unwell from looking at them, doesn’t mean that you should assume that they are ok.
Many chronic illnesses are life long, and incurable. Many of them are potentially fatal.
If you have a disease like Lupus, on good days you still feel like you have a bad flu, 24/7.
Many of the medications used to treat chronic conditions have side effects that can really affect someone’s self esteem - like extreme weight gain, skin changes and hair loss.
Most chronic illnesses have very little awareness - its unlikely that you’ve heard of Sjogren’s Syndrome, Scleroderma, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or Fibromyalgia.
However these diseases can cause symptoms as varied as joint pain, fatigue, constant nausea, kidney failure, pneumonia, photo sensitivity, full body rashes, paralysis, strokes etc.
So please remember that invisible illnesses exist too :)
First night show one and done, woo! Still got one more night show tho...
Also, one of the main leading actors was delivering a monologue towards 3 other characters and accidentally did one of their names our of order so just said "and you" but it worked! (I don't think the crowd remembered anyways)
Also, we got our concession stand selling overpriced snacks for the 'experience' so I hope we can get back at least as much as a bucket of paint :/
one litre of paint was like 50 bucks :(

statistics say that the average person accidentally eats eight spiders while sleeping in their life. That is not true, as Spider Georg eats a million spiders each night. He is an outlier and should not be counted.
GO FORTH MY FRIENDS. DO IT.
