I’m Puerto Rican.
Esquimalitos
Carritos
Moños/Moñitos
I have a question. What do you call these three things? They have different names depending on where you live, and I’m curious.
Imagine Sirius Black singing Lover by T.S. to Remus Lupin.
I like that it’s pretty much canon at this point, really. Like you said, they’re not enemies, and that is really refreshing.
Oh lord, now I’m gonna spiral thinking about Sirius and Snape.
Jeverus/Snames is a thing?
I just found out that there are people who ship James Potter with Snape and I don’t know how to deal with it. I’m not trying to shame anyone, but you’ve got Marauder stans and Snape stans and then you’ve got people who think they belong together? How? Where’s the logic behind that? I’m genuinely curious.
Thoughts on Regulus
I am honestly conflicted on how I want to portray him in the story. Like, personally, I love him and the idea that maybe he created a public front where he pretended to hate Sirius and his friends and such, but when he couldn’t sleep he’d send his older brother an owl requesting to sneak around. I’m an older sibling, and I really could not imagine being separated from my brother like that. I would refuse, as much as I’d like to strangle him sometimes, I would also die for him.
But then, I also have some ideas on how it would be if I went the usual route of making Regulus automatically cut him off when Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor. BUT, also, what part of this rewrite takes the usual routes?
ANYWAY. I might use a combination of both. Because I think Regulus was a complex character who was, like his brother, abused.
Being abused by your parents is a strange thing, sometimes, because it can either develop profound hatred towards your abusers, or create some sort of attachment and need to please the very people that hurt you. And I really want to explore that with Sirius and Regulus and how each of them dealt with their issue at home.
On a lighter note, I read once a headcanon that said that Pandora (Luna Lovegood’s mom) was maybe friends with Regulus, and I loved that idea so much. Mostly, I think of them quietly rebelling against their families. And I wholeheartedly believe that Pandora helped Regulus with the locket after she was inevitably kicked out of her family for marrying Xenophilius.
wait i don't understand - https://thesoftrainbows.tumblr.com/post/669930297514704896/you-really-do-be-putting-yourself-in-the-same
I’d be more than happy to explain, but can you specify what it is that you don’t understand?
Hello please reblog this if you’re okay with people sending you random asks to get to know you better
You know, what you said made me think of a lot of devastating stuff.
Just imagine baby Percy wanting to play but his parents are overwhelmed with the war and reject him every time.
In a war, I’m pretty sure that there’s going to be a lot of scary moments: nearby fights, the distant sounds of people screaming, Molly hysterically counting her children before hiding together in a bathroom while Arthur makes sure the DEs are not near.
Percy was quiet because that’s how Molly and Arthur told him to be because of the war. He was the best at being quiet and perfectly obedient, he was always praised for it.
The war ends when he’s five years old and he has to witness his mother breaking down and every now and then because the memories are still haunting her. He’s helpless and anxious because he doesn’t know how to comfort her, this doesn’t seem the type of situation where a bandaid and a kiss would make it better.
Percy never forgot. While Bill and Charlie were thrusted into the substitute parents role, therefore too busy to dwell on the past, Percy was stuck. He watched the world move on without him.
He was no longer needed to be quiet. He no longer needed to be completely obedient. He no longer needed to be strong. But Percy doesn’t know how to not do that.
Now he’s strange.
Percy, the boy who doesn’t come out and play with his brothers.
Percy, the boy who yells at his brothers when they become too noisy for him to read.
Percy, who always tells on his siblings when doing something wrong.
Percy, who decided to work for the Ministry from a young age because he always saw them on the streets trying to clean the aftermath of the war.
Percy Weasley, y’all.
I think Percy was a quite child - I love the older two, but I don't connect with their stories as much - because of the war. And nobody minded. Being quiet meant he could hide, being quiet meant he wasn't a liability. But then the war ended, and people saw him as weird.
Honestly, I agree. Being quiet isn’t a flaw or a liability. However, from what I understand, Percy was already thought of as weird since way before the war. There’s a lot of moments in the books where people mock him (mostly the twins). I think it wasn’t until after the war that people started trying to understand him.
I have like 5 followers but all 5 followers deserve to know they’re valid and loved. I fucking love you guys.
“you dont get to like the harry potter series because jk rowling sucks” correction: you dont get to monetarily support the harry potter series or fawn over jk rowling because jk rowling sucks. you have permission from me, a mixed trans person, to interact with the media, just recognize the bullshit and we’re good.
jk rowling doesnt like it when you make her characters trans. she doesnt like it when you throw the racism out and replace it with a more thoughtful worldbuild. she doesnt like it when you make the characters interested in actual institutional reform.
and i say: go for it.
make it queer, make it antifascist, make it intersectional, improve it, knowing that jk rowling hates that. be my fucking guest.
do not do her the courtesy of banishing yourself from her universe. by all means, be involved, and keep harry potter trans. she doesnt want harry potter to be trans. and thats why you should do it.
Rereading Harry Potter.
I can’t sleep, so I decided to pick up the first book of the HP series because it’s been a minute since I’ve read them and…doesn’t wandering around in cloaks and calling non-magical people “muggles” to their faces, and openly talking about You-Know-Who’s defeat break the Statute of Secrecy? Boy oh boy, three pages in and I’m already finding plot holes.
For me JK is the pure representation even though she only cares about feminism when oppressing those who are already oppressed, she is the representation of those TERFs who criticize and bully and sometimes treat the rest of the LGBT community, especially the trans community, men, women who oppose the radical feminism (which is more like totally extremist feminism) but they defend abusers like Marilyn Mason like you said and play the victim like JK did about trans activists went where she lives but the place has a wikipedia page
At this point I see “Anonymous” and automatically think it’s a JK apologist or some shit.
But yes, thank you, JKRoach just likes power. A good way of getting power is by putting on the label of a feminist and then deciding that an already vulnerable group of people are the villains.
