Also thanks to you I call jkr JKRoach from now on
kaishdjsiabdb PLEASE 💀 I don’t even know where that came from, but it’s a good nickname considering I hate roaches and I hate her, so
I want to write. I have ideas. I open document. I type four of the worst sentences ever created in the english language. I daydream the rest of the scene. I close document.
Harry Potter Rewrite: Disabilities.
I’ve already got a lot of disabled characters, but I feel that I still need more. I don’t pretend to be an expert in this, my only physical disability is my deafness. I will, however, promise to do all the research I can and listen to whatever criticism you give me (keep it respectful, though).
Disabilities I’ve already included:
Deafness — One of them is fully deaf and communicates through sign language, they’re all about Deaf Power and such. I have another character that is deaf in one ear and learns about the Deaf community later on. Total: 2 people
Hemophilia — This condition will come as a result of inbreeding. For those who don’t know what it is, it is a blood clot disorder that causes spontaneous bleeding and also excessive bleeding when injured - a lot of European royals have historically had this as a result of inbreeding. Total: 1 person (so far)
Paraplegia — Obviously, this person is going to be a wheelchair user. If you don’t know what it is, it’s when a person is paralyzed from the chest down. One of my main characters will have this disability due to be dropped out of the window as a child — yes, this is a hint. Total: 2 people
Epilepsy — The person to have this will be an OC of mine. Total: 1 person
Schizophrenia — Won’t be mentioned quite as often as it probably should, but it’s somebody’s parent. Total: 1 person
Autism — I want to have several people on different sides of the spectrum, so far, I only have two autistic people, but I’m working on more. Total: 2 people (so far)
Blindness — This one you’ll be seeing most often. We have different people who are all legally blind, though they’ve got different types of blindness. Total: 3 people
Chronic Pain — The people with this will all have different ways to alleviate the pain. One will use a cane during their youth and later on use a wheelchair on particular bad days. Another will use a cane only when the pain is too much to move much. The last one won’t suffer it too bad. Total: 3 people
Dyslexia — I’m sure everyone knows what this is. This person is a pureblood so they wouldn’t know that they had a disability and genuinely thought they just weren’t smart. Later on, they’ll find out what was happening and they’ll have friends to help them find spells to read easily. Total: 1 person
Limb loss — My character was born without one of their legs, but they don’t let it stop them from doing what they truly love — dancing. They have a prosthetic leg they tried using magic on but didn’t work because it became sentient. Total: 1 person
PTSD — This one is going to be seen a lot, there are going to be muggle war veterans as well as magical war survivors. This is going to be a major theme once we dive into the actual war. Total: A shit-ton of people
Migraines — These can be debilitating, it’s horrible, and I thought I should include it. So far, only one person has it. Total: 1 person (so far)
Disabilities I know about, but haven’t researched:
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) — a condition that affects blood flow. POTS causes the development of symptoms — usually lightheadedness, fainting and an uncomfortable, rapid increase in heartbeat — that come on when standing up from a reclining position and relieved by sitting or lying back down. Which character do you see having this?
Are there any more disabilities missing? Let me know! The whole point of this rewrite is to be able to see ourselves better within these beloved characters.
arguing with terfs sucks so much cause it just feels like youre making litterally the same exact points as them but somehow they still refuse to accept the truth
they take what you say and twist it, strawmanning your words into something you never said. because at the end of the day, they refuse to accept that they are in any capacity incorrect. you can't even argue on the note of compassion, because they fundamentally do not fucking care.
Hey, so they’re making a Netflix Harry Potter.
With that in mind, we’re all gonna remember that JKR is a terf who has literally been cited by legislators engaged in legislation that actively harms trans people, and we’re not gonna give her any more money.
That means not streaming the new show on Netflix, because regardless of how much influence she has on the production, she gets paid for it.
We’re gonna make the show flop. We’re gonna show Warner Brothers that we don’t forget (of course, how would we forget, it isn’t as if she’s stopped), and that their business association with terfs is no longer profitable.
It is NOT like Lovecraft, because Lovecraft is very dead and his works are in the public domain. By consuming Lovecraft media, you are not giving any money to old Howard.
Someone‘s preferred name is not debatable.
if someone asks you to call them a name
you call them by that fucking name
this is NOT debatable.
. "Someone out there vividly remembers something you said, which you have completely forgotten."
Most likely true, although it’s almost 5am where I’m from and I haven’t slept a wink and I get paranoid when tired so please explain this ominous ask 💀
To the person who sent (through my Google Form) an extensively researched Hogwarts curriculum with sources and suggestions to check out other content creators who’ve worked on this as well:
CAN I KISS YOU?! CAN I HUG YOU?! YOUVE WON MY HEART NOW, HERE: ❤️🤲. THANK YOU! HAVE THE BESTEST DAY, I LOVE YOU!
Someone disagreeing with your lifestyle doesn’t make them an awful or hateful person, how they treat the people they disagree with does. And if you treat them badly because you disagree with their views, you might be the hateful one.
You’re right, it does depend on how that person deals with someone else’s different opinion.
Here’s the difference between me and JK Rowling:
ROWLING.
Uses the money she’s earned from her books to support people who harms the Trans community.
Uses her large platform to spread hate and misconceptions of the Trans community in the name of “feminism”.
Uses the name of a man who pioneered the gay conversion therapies as a pen name and refuses to truly apologize for it or at least acknowledge that she’s done a terrible decision in chosing the pen name (this is in case she genuinely didn’t know about who Robert Galbraith was — although it’s not much of an excuse because she should always check the name before using it).
Invalidates the struggles of Trans women constantly.
Also, she friendly with Marilyn Mason. A known rapist, who likes to psychologically torture women by banishing them into enclosed, soundproofed room. His victims now suffer bouts of anxiety, depression, and PTSD. So much for feminism, huh? (I’ll be making a more in-depth post about this specific point later).
This is just off the top of my head.
ME.
When it comes to people I meet IRL, I always check if their decision to be a TERF comes from ignorance or not. If it’s not ignorance I simply don’t interact with them without starting a fight or anything. Snip Snip. Good day to you.
When it comes to Rowling, who, again, uses her large platform to do more harm than good, I criticize her. I don’t even send death threats, I don’t invalidate her experiences as a woman. I disagree, I explain why I disagree, and that’s pretty much it.
I’m only aggressive when it comes to people with big platforms harming a certain community. Because what you may perceive as a harmless opinion is actually a huge weight that is being placed onto trans people and their allies. What do you think her supporters do when she tweets shit like that?
Can you explain why many people think Harry Potter is desi? Not hating just curious! That's so lovely!!
Tbh because there’s no good reason not to.
All the blood status in the hp universe is a metaphor for racism but you know what’s boring? Metaphors for racism that only involve white people. Harry is often described as “dark” and like if James Potter’s family was desi and Lily Evans’s was white, that would enhance Harry’s feelings of otherness while growing up with the Dursleys because lbr Vernon was probs a flaming racist.
“Potter” could easily be an anglicized version of a south Asian last name like Potdar or Potluri, and you could make an argument for a pure blood family like the Potters engaging in and profiting from cultural exchange through the British colonization of India so there was an opportunity to establish generational wealth there.
Also on the night he died, James was making pretty-colored lights for Harry. That was October 31st. In 1981, Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, started on October 27th. It lasts five days.
