do you ever think about how you have such double standards for fic writers vs book authors and tv/movie writers?

like you don’t like when fic writers do xyz, but when you read it in a young adult novel you have no problem, or you see it on the screen and you love it.

that’s just so funny to me. the hypocrisy is so funny to me.

you’ll bitch about an age gap fic (even though both characters are concenting adults) but you adore call me by your name which has a 17 year old fucking a 24 year old (and i’m not bashing cmbyn i love that movie i’m just using it as an example).

you’ll bitch about adult fic authors writing minors having sex with each other but you’ll watch gossip girl where teenagers are fucking like crazy on screen.

you do realize that all of that was written by adults, right? most of the media you consume is created by adults. and when we write about teenagers fucking it’s not because we want to fuck teenagers. that’s gross. we’re writing about experiences, and we’re writing coming-of-age stories because we’ve already fucking been through that shit and we have life experiences that you don’t. if we didn’t the content you would have would fucking suck. it would suck.

most of your favorite fic writers are adults. your favorite novels and tv shows and movies were all written by adults. and if you enjoy that media anywhere except for when it’s in fics why is that? is it because fan fiction authors are more accessible to you? is it because you can find us on discord and tumblr and tell us all about your favorite and least favorite parts of what we’ve written? and you can’t do that with the authors of your favorite novels and the writers of your favorite tv shows and movies?

i just think your hypocrisy is bullshit, and maybe you should think more about what the fuck you say to people who write things for free. no one is forcing you to read anything. if you don’t like it don’t fucking read it and leave the people who do write it alone.

I have some advice for a way to portray the Marauders and Snape's relationship! They bullied him, but Snape was never defenseless (except for That Prank) and I think it started from some animosity on the train during their first year, them Snape continued to be a jerk. Snape seemed to be the only person that they were constantly picking on, so must've done something to earn their ire. They were pranksters, but not normally bullies. Most of the students and teachers had mostly good things to say about them.

I think a good way to portray it is that the Marauders and Snape constantly being at each other's throats in small, petty ways. The Marauders would only go after Snape when he deserved it or was being extra bloodcult-y. They were bullies because they all ganged up on him, but I don't think that was always the case.

I think they had some kind of moral code - they were Gryffindors after all, if nothing else, their honor would've stopped them from always going after him physically - so it was usually just one on one or two to one. The others would be the lookouts, or help them plan. They'd insult him and he'd fire right back.

Most of their pranks were harmless, I think, except for The Prank. Mostly cutting words and petty actions that didn't mean much at the time, but mounted up to he quite annoying.

Firstly, thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it.

Secondly, I've been interacting with some Snape stans because I wanted him to be humanized. Snape, as well as the Marauders, are going to have a lot of flaws, but also a lot of good traits. There are going to be times in which the Marauders prank Snape unprovoked. There are going to be other times where it is going to be Snape who's going after them.

We're going to see a lot of Snape's softer side during their fifth and sixth years, after his relationship with Lily ends. Lily will be grieving for their lost friendship, and will sometimes talk about fond memories with Snape. I don't want to spoil it too much, that is all you'll be getting.

Now, Snape is not going to be defenseless. He will lash out and get his revenge when he feels is needed. But neither will the Marauders. For the majority of the story, it's going to be a mutual rivalry, until the moment they humiliated him in front of the school - this incident is going to shift something within a lot of people, for the better or for the worst.

She loved that slimy animal with her whole soul.

During this week, the village or family would gather around in prayer so that the Amender will show its holy compassion as a sign of compassion towards the sufferer.

Once the Amender arrives, they shall see if a person’s true self would be what they claim. If they deem it necessary, they shall begin the performance of sex reassignment, which really involves powerful magic being used while they fly in circles around their target. It is said that the experience is a mixture of thrilling and painful, so it would really depend on who the person is.

Unfortunately, this ceremony was banned in 1903 by the Minister of Magic at the time — K. Rowl. Ever since then, the wixes were forced to forget about this ceremony since they would be persecuted if they attempted to relieve a sufferer’s pain. I know most people who write for HP don't like Peter Pettigrew but with your rewrite, could you not sideline him as the 'just there' Marauder? He was just as capable as them in Transfiguration and Potions. I may not like him but he wasn't the guy to just throw his friends under the bus at 11 years old for a corn chip like how some people write him as

I thought the same thing, actually. It’s why you’re going to see a lot of Peter in the rewrite. You’ll get to know about his home life, his hobbies, favorite colors, the songs he likes the same way you’ll know about the rest. He’s flawed, yes, but he also has a lot of good traits.

Harry Potter Rewrite: Religion.

The original Harry Potter series was heavily influenced by the Christian religion. I never thought it made much sense, so I decided to make it so that the majority (especially purebloods and half-bloods) practice paganism. They’ll have their own traditions and festivals and holidays.

There will be other students who don’t practice paganism, but that enjoy some of their holidays. So far, some of the students (in the Marauders’ Era, since that’s what I’m working on at the moment) who aren’t Pagans are:

1. James Potter—Hinduism

2. Peter Pettigrew—Atheist

3. Severus Snape—Atheist, but has Catholic leanings due to his muggle father

4. Lily Evans—Atheist, family is Catholic

Of course, other religions such as Judaism, Islam, and many more, will be included. I’m just currently doing my research on these religions so that I can portray them well. Any help or suggestion is welcomed.

You know, what you said made me think of a lot of devastating stuff.

Just imagine baby Percy wanting to play but his parents are overwhelmed with the war and reject him every time.

In a war, I’m pretty sure that there’s going to be a lot of scary moments: nearby fights, the distant sounds of people screaming, Molly hysterically counting her children before hiding together in a bathroom while Arthur makes sure the DEs are not near.

Percy was quiet because that’s how Molly and Arthur told him to be because of the war. He was the best at being quiet and perfectly obedient, he was always praised for it.

The war ends when he’s five years old and he has to witness his mother breaking down and every now and then because the memories are still haunting her. He’s helpless and anxious because he doesn’t know how to comfort her, this doesn’t seem the type of situation where a bandaid and a kiss would make it better.

Percy never forgot. While Bill and Charlie were thrusted into the substitute parents role, therefore too busy to dwell on the past, Percy was stuck. He watched the world move on without him.

He was no longer needed to be quiet. He no longer needed to be completely obedient. He no longer needed to be strong. But Percy doesn’t know how to not do that.

Now he’s strange.

Percy, the boy who doesn’t come out and play with his brothers.

Percy, the boy who yells at his brothers when they become too noisy for him to read.

Percy, who always tells on his siblings when doing something wrong.

Percy, who decided to work for the Ministry from a young age because he always saw them on the streets trying to clean the aftermath of the war.

I think Percy was a quite child - I love the older two, but I don't connect with their stories as much - because of the war. And nobody minded. Being quiet meant he could hide, being quiet meant he wasn't a liability. But then the war ended, and people saw him as weird.

Honestly, I agree. Being quiet isn’t a flaw or a liability. However, from what I understand, Percy was already thought of as weird since way before the war. There’s a lot of moments in the books where people mock him (mostly the twins). I think it wasn’t until after the war that people started trying to understand him.

So it’s been a while…

I know it’s been months since I last seriously posted anything on here, especially about the rewrite I’d been so focused on. Truthfully, I hit a massive dry spell almost as soon as I started college. So much has changed, you wouldn’t believe it.

Anyway, now that it’s summer, I’d like to get back into writing but I need to get the inspiration flowing. So I thought maybe I can have a list of characters that are/will be important in the rewrite and you guys can request a small scene/blurb (if that’s what you call it?) with them. You could request a specific situation but no guarantees made.

For example, you can say: “Can you do something with A and B?” or “Can you write a bit about C and D in the empty common room?” and I’ll come up with something from there. I feel like it’d allow you guys to learn about these characters as they’ll be in the rewrite. So, win-win.
