SOMEONE TO STAY; Epilogue.
Part of my rewrite series, starting from the Marauders’ Era. More is coming soon.
❛ There’s a dream that used to hold Remus Lupin hostage during his darkest hours . . . ❜
It’s finally here! After months of announcing my work in progress, and years of fixing and outlining the Harry Potter world, I have finally posted the epilogue for what is sure to be a great journey, I hope you’ll show some love and support! Any feedback, comments, advices are welcome!
The Epilogue is very short — it’s meant to be, the rest of the chapters will go from 2,000-ish words and, if the inspiration strikes, more.

Special thanks to @fen1s for being my beta reader!
Beta-Readers Needed!
Before I publish the first few chapters of my rewrite series, I’m looking for at least five beta readers who’ll check my work for any inconsistencies, typos, and any other errors that might be found.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ If you are interested, you can message me so that I can ask you a couple of questions. If I feel that you may work well with me, I’ll ask for your email.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ If you are not interested, but know someone that might be, then you can either send them this post or tell me about them so that I can ask them myself. I’ll be asking a couple of simple questions and, if I feel we’d work well, then I’ll ask for their emails.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ REMEMBER! This part of the rewrite is centered around the Marauders & Co. (the romance is Wolfstar-focused, although romance isn’t the main theme). There’s going to be a lot of diversity in terms of race, gender, and disabilities. Also, Snape is going to be a complex, humanized character.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ If I can find someone who is Indian, Japanese, French, and/or Welsh to call me out in case I make any mistakes (I’ve been studying these cultures for years whenever I can, but I’m not perfect) that would be amazing.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ Finally, any and all Beta-Readers I end up picking will be credited each chapter I post.
Sirius Black Headcanons.
Sirius Black is half French and half Japanese.
Walburga Black was the one born and raised in Japan. Orion, is the one that’s French.
The Japanese side of the family is suppressed, to be forgotten, as demanded by the Blacks.
Sirius only knows a little bit of Japanese thanks to the family outcast, Uncle Alphard. Regulus also learned, but he knows a little less.
Sirius and Regulus used to be the same reckless, bold child. They were always standing up for each other no matter the consequences. It was them against the world.
Sirius and Regulus were secretly close up until the winter holidays of Sirius’ fifth year. They were supposed to run away together, but Orion had held Regulus back. Sirius thought that his younger brother had simply changed his mind.
During his first year, Sirius refused to be associated with his own House. He didn’t want to further disappoint his parents, not to mention that a part of him believed the Black values.
It wasn’t until his second year that Sirius realized that perhaps his family was wrong.
By third year, slurs were eliminated completely from his mind and vocabulary and he was working hard to fully let go of everything he had grown up in.
Sirius is completely deaf on his left ear. His family was embarrassed to have a son with a disability, so they instilled in his mind that it was something to hide.
During the first few years at Hogwarts, Sirius would exhaust himself while trying to read lips without people noticing.
It was frustrating and humiliating whenever he missed something and he was forced to asked the person to repeat what they’d said.
Even after his friends found out about it, Sirius refused to acknowledge it. He would not be known as a pitiful, disabled kid.
Classes were difficult, especially if the professor had the tendency of walking around the classroom. Sirius would sometimes copy the notes off of James without saying anything.
James always noticed but let him do it.
Later on, a fully deaf kid arrived at Hogwarts and managed to teach Sirius to somewhat embrace his deafness. (Kinda debating whether this should be a part of my fic or not, please let me know what you think).
Sirius also suffered from childhood PTSD, especially after he ran away.
He would wake up in the middle of the night in pure terror, but he didn’t scream because in his mind, he’s still at Grimmauld Place, and they would have his head if he screamed so late at night. He was all trembles and whimpers and sweat and tears.
Each of the Marauders would take turns consoling him.
When Sirius started dating Remus, it was always him who would come. Eventually, they would just cuddle up together on the same bed.
Remus Lupin Headcanons.
Full moons become progressively worse as the werewolf grows. As a child, Remus was in pain, but since his body was still developing, it was a bit more bearable.
Double full moons were the worst because Remus’ body would barely have any time to recover before it’s forced to transform again. The second full moon of the month would leave the poor guy with gruesome internal injuries that take much longer to heal, broken bones, and more.
Remus gets physically sick whenever he’s around silver. He’ll get lightheaded, struggle to breathe properly, and feel nauseous (or throws up, depending on how close the silver is). All of this is multiplied whenever he accidentally touches it, plus it burns his skin.
Lupine flowers are another weakness. They cause the same symptoms of a regular allergy, so it’s easier to play off, but it can cause him to pass out or struggle to breathe. If he consumes it, it will kill him.
Embarrassingly, Remus follows the stereotype of werewolves fearing fire. It’s why he always sits as far away from the fire in the common room as possible, and why he always yells before running away whenever he encounters fire unexpectedly.
Remus has a younger sister (by five years) named Caron B. Lupin. They adore each other despite their age difference.
Remus is always trying to spoil her as much as he can because he believes that she deserves to have the childhood he didn’t have.
Caron is always doing everything she can to bring her brother comfort after full moons.
Caron is a squib (or just not a witch, I’m not sure if half-bloods can be squibs).
Hope is Remus’ best friend. She’s quite a hippie; she has a garden of medicinal plants for Remus, and smokes quite often (sometimes her cigarettes smell suspiciously of weed, though she would never admit that they are). She’s also generally accepting of pretty much everything, hence why she barely blinked when Remus came out to her.
Lyall, on the other hand, was much more complicated. He wasn’t a bad father, per se, but he made a lot of mistakes while trying to deal with Remus being a werewolf. He does try his best, in his own way.
The Lupins have a Great Dane male dog named Arawn. He’s supposed to be a security dog, but Caron softened him up after she was born. There’s nothing intimidating about a dog wearing a tiara and a bedazzled scarf.
The Lupins visit Hope’s family very often. It’s a big family, which has five children including Hope herself.
Because Lyall is often absent, Remus and Caron grew up mostly speaking Welsh. They both have heavy accents whenever they do speak English.
Hope was a Historian who specialized in (Welsh) Mythology. She had to quit her job to take care of Remus after the incident. Once Remus left for Hogwarts, Hope enrolled Caron into a muggle public school and started working again.
Lyall and Remus are the only ones who enjoy reading books, it’s one of the few things they bond over.
Hope likes taking the kids into the woods so that they can catch little animals like frogs, bunnies, etc.. They let them go afterwards, but it’s always fun to chase the small animals.
Lyall always takes Caron very seriously when she asks him to check for monsters under the bed, and does a complete sweep of the room. He will not make the same mistake twice.
Remus is afraid of the dark, so Lyall made him a small nightlight that illuminates the room to his liking. Hope hopped in and made it so that it would spin and carved some stars so that the room looked like the stars were dancing around his bedroom.
Remus brought the nightlight to Hogwarts, though he would only turn it on behind closed curtains.
Lyall disappeared for ‘work’ whenever the full moon neared. He wouldn’t return until a couple of days after, and he would always bring Remus a small bag filled with chocolate. This is why Remus is so attached to his chocolate, especially during and after full moons.
Caron has the habit of kissing Remus’ wounds because “kisses make everything better!” and Remus loves it.
Remus started using a cane during his fourth year, after a double full moon.
That month (October, 1974) was also very traumatic for a lot of people. After the second full moon, Remus was tired of being babied by the matron, his friends, the headmaster, and Head of House, so he snuck out of the Hospital Wing to attend his classes as if nothing. Even though he was feeling like absolute crap. Long story short, he started coughing up blood, passed out, busted his already problematic hip while falling, traumatized everyone present.
Loves reading books, hates anything school-related. If it weren’t for James’ constant harassment, Remus would be failing every class.
So petty. And I mean this in a will-perform-a-sticking-charm-on-your-bed-and-stick-it-to-the-ceiling kind of petty. The pranks are relatively harmless (most of the time) but they’re such a hassle to undo.
He’s the funniest member of the Marauders. He always makes the snarkiest remarks, but only loud enough for his friends to hear. You’d always see the boys absolutely pissing themselves from laughter while Remus sits in the middle as if he’s just as confused as everyone else.
He doesn’t hesitate to throw his friends under the bus just so he doesn’t get detention. He has a very good poker face, so it’s easy to get away with it.
Am I throwing whatever JKRoach wrote about werewolves out the window for the sake of my fic? Yes, yes I am.
I’ve changed my mind about the title. It’s going to be called the “Reasons to Stay” series. I just listened to the song again and I realize that, while beautiful, it doesn’t capture the essence of the story. The new title is not a song, but I think it fits.
Today was such a good day. I finally settled on calling my Wolfstar series “The Truth Untold” Series because that’s what the Marauders are, one big, hidden truth from Harry. (It’s also the title to one of BTS’ songs, which I think everyone should listen to). I also love the fact that I finally found a half-Japanese face claim that fits Sirius beautifully I really cried. It’s Conan Gray. So yeah, today was a good day.
Were the Marauders really that popular?
NOTE: I can go more into spoil-free details on my headcanons for them, you just have to ask :)
TW:// contains brief mentions of abuse, mental health issues, mild swearing, smoking, brief mentions of homophobia, racism, ableism, transphobia. I think that’s about it.
I’m writing this long-ass Wolfstar fan fiction and based on my personal headcanons, here’s the answer:
Yes and No.
In my fanfic, and the way that I always see them in my head, we have an Indian (Gujarat) James Potter who’s stupidly in love with a plus-sized, snarky Lily Evans.
We have a half-Japanese, genderqueer and gay Sirius Black who’s well known for being a blood-traitor ever since their second year, not to mention that they’ve been leaving people awe-struck every single time she feels like a girl and dresses in a feminine way. They’re also deaf in one ear. He suffers from panic attacks and childhood PTSD. NOTE: His family dynamic slightly changes to fit the story. They’re still from an abusive home, but there’s a lot more to it than just that. Sirius’ relationship with his parents - particularly her mother - will be brought up and explained.
We have a heavily-accented Welsh Remus Lupin, who’s scrawny and awkwardly tall that lowkey scares the shit out of everyone. He knits, but his scars and unpredictable aggressiveness that comes near full moons is enough to keep people away. He’s unlabebed but madly in love with Sirius. He’s also depressed, anxious, has low self-esteem, and daddy issues. Also, I made sure to bring up his relationship with his mother because I just love Hope Lupin and I just think she’d be an awesome mom.
We also have Peter Pettigrew, who’s known for his fierce protectiveness for his younger sister, Jess (she’s a Slytherin, btw). He also probably has black lungs with the amount of cigarettes he smokes daily - he’s the reason why so many people even got cigarettes. He comes from a home where his parents are constantly at each other’s throats, so he’s never been able to see what love is supposed to look like when it’s healthy, but he’s working on that with a special Fem!OC. He’s depressed, has low self-esteem, and is constantly looking for someone to love him and prove himself to.
As mentioned before, Lily Evans is a snarky, plus-sized queen. She’s also really fucking hilarious and has so many awesome prank ideas once she befriends the Marauders. She also befriends Regulus, and their dynamic is the absolute cutest. She likes the academic side of school, but it’s not the center of her world, leave that to James. She likes sneaking around with her friends at night just for the heck of it, she’s never been caught.
Marlene McKinnon is a trans woman who’s basically a lesbian version of Sirius Black. She was actually the fifth roommate of the Marauders’ until her third year. She’s always baking but Merlin save you if you piss her off or any of her friends. She’s one of the best Beaters and duelist Hogwarts has seen. She and Sirius are the definition of platonic soulmates.
Dorcas Meadowes is a chaotic bisexual and also a raging feminist and activist that a lot of people don’t like because she’s “hard to talk to”. She’s loud, and bold, and constantly holding meetings with staffs so that they can improve the school to make it a safer environment for POCs students (and staff, too), LGBTQ+ folks, women, and literally every other minority.
Mary MacDonald is a Korean ballerina who’s been on a violent streak ever since that group of Slytherins cornered her and...did some...things to her (it’ll be explained in the story, don’t worry).
SO. Yes they were popular, but not in the way this fandom usually portrays them. They’re very well-known because they’re such an odd group filled with every possible outcast you could think of. Some of them (James, Lily, Peter, and Mary) are liked, but the rest are either feared or hated. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of people who genuinely like all of them and think them fun to be around, but Sirius, Remus, Marlene, and Dorcas are walking Change-That-They’re-Not-Ready-For and for a school that has so many homophobics, racists, ableists, and transphobics, it’s a struggle.
BONUS:
Regulus is a half-Japanese, Hemophiliac Slytherin baby. (For those who don’t know, Hemophilia is a blood clot disorder that causes spontaneous bleeding and also excessive bleeding when injured - a lot of European royals have historically had this as a result of inbreeding). He would meet his brother and friends in secret just so that they could preserve their relationship. Regulus actually loved the Marauders & Co. and vice versa. There’s more but I don’t wanna spoil too much. I just love him.
