The way most autism literature describes "literal interpretation" is often not at all similar to how I experience it. Teenage me even thought I couldn't be autistic because I've always been able to learn metaphors easily.
In fact, I love wordplay of all kinds. Teenage me was fascinated to learn all the types of figurative language there are in poetry and literature.
But paperwork and questionnaires are hard, because there's so much they don't state clearly. Or they don't leave room for enough nuance.
"List all the jobs you've had, with start and end dates." What if I don't remember the exact day or month? Is the year enough?
"Have you been suffering from blurred vision?" Well, if I take off my glasses the whole world is blurred, but I'm fairly sure that's not what the intake form at the optometrist is asking.
Or the infamous (and infuriatingly stereotypical) "Would you rather go to a library or a party?" What sort of party? Where? Who's there? I work at a library. Am I currently at the library for work or pleasure? Does it have a good collection?
It's not common figures of speech that confound me. It's ambiguity, in situations that aren't supposed to be ambiguous.
happy normal fuckin day to everyone who doesnt celebrate christmas or rly any holidays today n tomorrow. hope you have an average day. hope its chill like any other
wish people would stop talking about me behind my back like I know you mean me even if you are just saying "the entity". Yall ain't subtle about about looking at me through a one way window talking to eachother and taking notes. "The anomaly has absconded" "we must ensure it does not come in contact with civilians at all costs" like stfu
Warden/wither enemies to lovers
I'm asexual which means I'm attracted to the exit.
Well...I mean...accurate?
there was a barrel in the way, I could not see the baby until after I said that. Oops
Sometimes I think about the fact that I have conversations with people over reblogs, and it's basically as if I stood out in the village square and shouted back and forth with someone on the other side of the square.

The always option would be similar to "breathing manually" don't worry tho this won't affect sleep-
Much
Since you will always be thinking about something it may be harder to focus on other things, accomplish tasks, etc. You will have complete control of your breathing at all times, so things like swimming (or running, I think) would be a lot easier.
2. The never option makes your breathing not consciously controlled at all, like your heart or kidney or something. Thus, you can focus on stuff without ever thinking about breathing. For better or worse. But since you don't control your own breathing you cannot do things like hold your breath or switch from breathing with your mouth to with your nose. So you cannot really avoid inhaling harmful gasses or liquids.
