there was an opportunity
Right??!!
And adding onto this, Indara tells him multiple times not to project his own emotions and wants onto the twins but we are very clearly shown that he does.
He says he feels a connection to Osha and that’s why he wants to save her but when Mae runs outside to get their mother he can’t tell it’s Mae and not Osha.
And on top of that, I do truly think that he’s trying to be what he perceives as good and morally right, but his own biases against the coven blind him. He falls back on the mindset that the show has criticized in past episodes where the Jedi supposedly think everything that isn’t their way of using the force is the dark side. Which… isn’t necessarily how the Jedi as a whole think, and Indara as the wise and leading Master on this mission proves it, but it is the same principle that we apply in irl debates where a few loud voices overshadow the minority. Sol, in this case with his actions not his words, causes a catastrophe that is based in this mindset and ultimately proves mother Aniseya right.
Of course it is not solely his fault (and I love how ultimately nuanced the situation is and not just “Jedi bad”) but him projecting his perception of the situation and acting out based on biases and assumptions are the catalyst that escalates everything. And, of course the most blatant thing that shows this, is him saving Osha over Mae, because Mae is already “tainted” (aka marked).
Overall I think this episode, combined with the other flashback episode, portrayed beautifully how biased we are in our own stories and perceptions and how this can affect the stories and perceptions of others.
the character work with sol in this episode was SO good. the way the show has built him up to be this ideal jedi, and then this episode strips it away, showing his hubris, showing how quick to judgment he is. throughout the episode, he insisted on interfering, over and over, because he was so sure of himself, so sure that the twins were in danger, that he knew what was best for them; he killed mother aniseya because he assumed that whatever magic she was using - magic that presumably was meant to transport mae away and save her - was violent in nature. and then she tells him in her final moments that she was going to let osha go, and there's all that guilt, that crushing realization that his assumptions were wrong, and at the end of the episode he wants to purge it all by telling the council - but indara is the one who points it out as selfishness; by confessing, he would be assuaging his own guilt while also destroying osha's chance to fulfill her dream of being a jedi. and so he takes osha on as his padawan, and he carries that guilt with him, every single day of his life. "i've accepted my darkness; what have you done with yours?"
Here’s a Clone Wars actors AU, I guess. It’s still in the world of Star Wars, so the aliens are real, but the war and the Jedi and Sith are made up.
Palpatine is the producer and main writer/ director
I don’t have an explication for the clones, but I didn’t want them to be a CGI army so the boys are all here.
Part 2 here
Part 3 here
Part 4 here

Soooooo new volume!
I might have fallen in love with Winter (again) and there's also all the new characters and penny is back!!!!!! Omg!!!!! I love the way it is going right now (as usual), but that doesn't mean I have no criticism.
Honestly the only thing that I feel really sad about right now is that our faves didn't get a weapon design montage, though I guess there were more pressing matters like introducing new characters, maybe it just didn't fit in? I dunno it's just a bit sad, I would've loved to see Ruby geek out about weapons and new designs and Blake repair hers with gold (we all know the symbolism behind that) but maybe we will in the future.
After chapter 2 I was a bit miffed about how they handled the whole lying to ironwood thing but it got resolved in chapter 3 and now I am just curious how it will play out.
I really hope we get to see Oscar walk through atlas and meeting some new people, or talk to Pietro about the cane maybe. I just want to see more Oscar please.
But yeah, I love RWBY and I love that we finally get to see more and I am hyped! (Also omg the ace ops ahhhhhhhh)
Last thing: is there a RWBY fandom discord channel? If yes, can someone send me the link? If no, would anyone join if I made one?
Ohhhh shit what a clusterfuck (in a good and intriguing way) wow I’m so hyped for this! I don’t know how you’re gonna end this and I’m not gonna ask because spoiler but please, please don’t kill them! I can see the angst potential where anakin is so sure that he is protecting obi wan in killing Jango and that seems like a lot of drama and even imagining it I am breaking my own heart, wow. (I’m not saying I wouldn’t read that too because I totally would but I’m already ready to cry at the thought of it) I just- have I told you that I love this au? Because I love this au. And I love seeing people brainstorm like this! Just. Yes.
@1elysium the dha kar’ta post was super heckin long, so i thought i’d answer you over here!
i can’t speak for fiori, but i’m so glad you’re enjoying it!! this au already means a lot to me, and the support for it so quickly has been amazing, both on here and ao3. I’m thinking between two and three years between Illum and Jango meeting them! i need time for Obi to build a relationship with Dooku and Anakin, and Dha lol.
i haven’t given much thought to Obi taking a padawan, because i haven’t solidified my wants for the clones just yet. you’re right, they started them right about the time of the invasion of Naboo, but since Dooku was the one to orchestrate getting Jango involved, i don’t see that happening in this ‘verse. which breaks my feckin heart cause i LOVE the clones and Boba and i definitely implied in the force visions that Boba was a possibility, but i can’t figure out how to make it work 😭if Obi were to take a padawan, ahsoka is definitely a possibility, but savage has also crossed my mind. but yes he would absolutely raise them as Mando’ade Jedi.
as for Dooku being involved with Palps, i’ve actually been thinking about that! i think he’s suspicious yes, but that’s the thing about a sith lord, he can warp people’s perceptions of him and his actions, and he has a lot of power that the council is beholden to, and Dooku IS a little busy trying to keep his other dumbass grandson alive. so while he’s still with the order, he’s off planet a LOT even before Jango searches them out.
now, that being said, Anakin is an eldritch force vessel in this, which he was not in the canon timeline. the force is semi-sentient and endless and exists on multiple layers of spice-time and is basically fucking canon in an attempt to keep Obi-Wan alive. which means it can’t allow Anakin to fall. which means Palps has less icky fingers in Anakin’s brain and while Anakin might not be totally aware of his status as a vessel, he knows to trust the force because on Tatooine, that’s all he had. i’ll save my other thoughts for the actual fic, but while Palps does manipulate Anakin to an extent, he doesn’t have nearly as strong a foothold.
and @theclonewarsbrokeme because this story is your baby too
What about Jamai? She's hot too
First it was Runaan
Now it’s Aaravos. Does Aaron have any more hot elves up his sleeve?
for the funny aspec people in my machines
Nah, I think he's just being dramatic
When Claudia casts this spell in S1E3, she draws a neat, single line that looks like calligraphy.
When Aaravos busts this spell out during the fight in S2E9, he drama queens the shit out of it
and then Viren shoots the lightning out of his staff.
And now all I can think about is, has drawing the runes has changed over the past millennium, evolving over time as penmanship does, or is this literally the difference between Claudia’s and Aaravos’s handwriting?
I don't know, but maybe they somehow chained him down with enchanted chains and then attack him. Or in season 2 we learn that to slay a dragon you need to hit him in the chest, so Amaya probably launched an enchanted Speer or an arrow and hit him. (When I say enchanted I mean dark magic brought to you by lord Viren) Do you get what I mean?
We are told the dragon king was killed by using really powerful and really dark magic. So Viren must have played a huge role in it right? But I don’t picture him as the one killing the dragon king and not mentioning it. So, who did it? I know there were probably many soldiers who could do it but when it comes to actually killing the dragon king there is only one person that I can picture doing it.
Amaya
Yes, not Viren or Harrow but Amaya.
I mean she is so badass she must have been there. And she probably wanted revenge for her sister and friend Sarai (just as much as Harrow who also could have done it because of that) so yeah she is the only one I can imagine doing it and to be honest? I wouldn’t even be mad at her.
Pffffff XD
SO that spell Aaravos had Viren do, the one that let the caterpillar from one side of the mirror to the other?
You might say they opened…a wormhole.
this is just for me to look at silly little things ...and maybe say some nonesense
