When Jason and Percy were switched, they didn't just have their physical selves swapped. They had their lives swapped. Jason got to believe that someone loved him, and Percy got to experience what it was like to have no one.
no one gafs but like the jason is boring argument genuinely pisses me off. like yeah when i first read HoO at like 11 i was all booo not my protagonist booo he has no personality booo he's a blank slate but after reading the burning maze a year or two later i was sad when he died because i had only just realized how much he contributed to the series. JASON BEING "BORING" WAS LITERALLY THE POINT. mf was raised by WOLVES. he'd been at camp jupiter p much his whole life and a strict rule follower because that's all he's known. he's supposed to be the antithesis of percy, the entire point of jason was learning how to be human in a sense. jason was told how to act and feel his entire life and his character arc is learning that it's okay to not be perfect. he had been living out this robotic life of things he's supposed to do because of what his lineage is and what that's supposed to mean for someone like him. jason being able to choose is the thing that makes his so called blank slate character interesting, he's no longer a blank slate but a /person/ with feelings and emotions. like genuinely why do you think it's JASON who tells apollo to "REMEMBER WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE HUMAN" if/when he gets back to olympus.
Concept: Just everyone in Camp Halfblood preparing for a full scale Roman invasion. Because by this point Jason’s got his memories back.
And they’re all aware that oh we just accidentally kidnapped one of Camp Jupiters leaders.
We’re royally screwed.
Annabeth’s grilling Jason on his camps about battle tactics and Jason is more then happy to share.
He innocently asks why Annabeth’s suddenly interested in the inner workings of Camp Jupiter.
And the answer completely takes him off guard. He just stares at her strangely before replying that there isn’t going to be any fighting.
“Jason I get you not wanting to fight them. They’re your friends but I highly doubt they’ll feel the same about us.”
“It’s not that. I mean I’d hate to fight them too but there’s not going to be a fight. No one’s coming.”
Everyone looks at Jason like he’s insane because what do you mean no one’s coming?! We’re the enemy and you matter a lot to them.
If anything Jason looks even more confused because sure he’s their leader or rather was at this point.
But that doesn’t mean he mattered to them. There’s no search parties, he can guarantee that and his replacement has surely already been found.
“So what they’re all just gonna pretend like you died” asks his sister, his clearly livid and barely holding herself back from storming Camp Jupiter, sister.
Jason shakes his head because death implies mourning and reminiscing.
Someone else would take credit for reforms he tried to push. All his actions and his feats would never be talked about with a name to place them with.
“It’ll be less like I died and more like I never existed at all” replies Jason with an air of calm acceptance.
Because really he can’t grasp why everyone else is so confused by something he’s known all along.
The battle is over. The war has been won and the good little solider boy has outlived his use.
What’s so confusing about that?
I wish the hoo books didn't erase the 'roman-ness' from jason completely just because he adapted to the greeks. we needed a proper, cold, calculating roman representation. hazel and frank could just as easily fit into the greeks because they were very new to camp jupiter and reyna was shipped off to the hunters.
jason was always kind of eccentric in the argo ii if you guys hadn't noticed. when jason was talking in praise about diocletian(?) hazel looked at him in horror because he wasn't supposed to be saying good things about him. but the romans were supposed to be like that. they were supposed to take in the beneficial aspects of even bad people, they didn't think about feelings. they were the "we see good in everyone but only because we need them for our benefit".
it would take a million years for jason to trust someone completely, hot take but he would take longer than nico to warm up to someone. nico is just more open about not trusting someone, but jason would hide it better. annabeth said jason had this unnerving vibe about him and neither she or hazel could get a read on him. he would be calculating your every move and would read so much into what you say, because he's a roman by blood, by virtue.
and jason would take betrayals HORRIBLY, arguably he'd take it the hardest, it isn't easy to anger him but a broken promise, a broken trust, drives him absolutely insane.

I'm a fandom oldie and a strong proponent of "ship and let ship", and I defend everyone else's right to ship what they love... But I think that gives people the idea that I like, automatically love every single ship??? Or every single trope?

There are a lot of fandom tropes that are on my "absolutely fuck no" list. There are a lot of irk kinks that are also on my "nope absolutely not" list, too. Personally, this is healthy. I'm able to look at something and go "Yep, I hate it, but it's not harming anyone, so continue to do as you please."

Superhero AU where Janus was born with the snake eye, a chilling evil laugh, and a talent for scheming and everyone was side-eyeing him his entire life waiting for his debut into villainy, only he decided it was too much work and went to design school and he's basically Edna Mode, but for villains.
(actually, let's make it funnier, Roman was straight up born with superpowers, but he decided to follow his heart and pursue fashion, now he and Janus are rivals in the arena of supers costume design, which plays out as a textbook hero/nemesis dynamic, just minus the actual fighting)

Love it when people take design inspo from his dyed hair era and make it color-coded to the other sides through the power of artistic magic
Gave stubble and ear piercings so he looks closer to his current appearance
Decided to give Character!Thomas that one jacket he really seems to like rather than the popular Steven Universe shirt bc it reflects his current style more
LOVE it when people give Roman scars- also gave Remus one across his eye to make him similar to Roman
Speaking of Remus... I removed the silver streak bc it's kinda a hassle to draw and doesn't really unify him with the others (also clutters his design) + just gave him heavier facial hair rather than a full-mustache
Janus's snake-side is usually a washed-out green when Thomas has his make-up so I made it more vibrant! I usually hate drawing Janus bc bowler hat + snake scales is a STRUGGLE but I like how he turned out

His hair is spiked and swooped back to make him 'disheveled', 100% believe Thomas will wear orange contacts so he has those, and gave him short-sleeved leather jacket to relate him to Logan's short-sleeves
So I’m back in the Sander sides fandom and all I can think about is Roman’s Character arc. I really wanted to portray his disappointment in himself at failing to be Thomas’s “hero,” and his general feelings of inadequacy. In other words, SOMEONE HELP HIM @thatsthat24

I was asked this and I chuckled because in the scheme of things the only thing that looks the same is that they are in my style. XD
For the reverse au. Roman definitely gives Virgil a bell choker. And Virgil loved it bc Roman gave it to him. But. He still likes to sneak, so he finds a way to put cotton or something in the bell so that it doesn't make noise. The cotton of course is removable, so it can still make noise sometimes, but it's even better to sneak up on Roman while wearing the bell, bc Roman partially made it for him so that Virgil couldn't scare him anymore?

So, My Little Pony. Canterlot Wedding. You know this episode, you probably know it even if you don’t watch the show, it’s the one with the banger. Yeah that one. Do it but make it Sanders Sides.
Roman is Shining Armor. Janus is Chrysalis. Remus is Twilight. Patton is Cadence. That is all.
Fun idea for y'all: Roman is the Ego, yes? And Janus is self-preservation, meaning he preserves the Self, in another words he preserves Thomas's identity as himself. And a Ego and a Self are directly and inherently connected.
So Janus should be Roman's protector.
Meaning: Knight Janus and Prince Roman; or Dragon Janus and Prince Roman; or Shadow Janus and Prince Roman.

a long list of things that are confirmed as canon in sanders sides:
Virgil hates flying
Logan is afraid of what's at the bottom of the ocean
Roman is absolutely terrified of the dark (and screams like a final girl in a horror movie when he's scared)
The sides can change how the others look
Virgil can in fact control shadows/darkness
Patton made up a game called "patton cake" and it is very messy and confusing to play
Janus is cold-blooded and sheds his scales
Remus and Roman both have sustained long-lasting injuries
Logan can't "duck out" like Virgil did
Logan has a literal "thinking cap" that he wears
Roman and Remus can conjure living things
Virgil has kept/stolen items from both Logan and Janus
Logan and Virgil are great at giving each other gifts
Logan's gifts that he gives are usually some form of money
Virgil hates being babied
Patton has no idea where babies come from
Logan called puns his "forbidden fruit spread" and has actually made several dad jokes on purpose
Both Logan and Roman have fainted over crofters
Virgil cannot skateboard to save his life (but still pretends he can to seem cool)

Concept:
The Battle of Mount Othrys must’ve seriously messed Jason up.
Not only is it a fight for our lives kind of deal it’s not like anyone in Camp Jupiter would’ve known what was happening.
They wouldn’t have been prepared for any of this and whether he was Praetor at the time or not, Jason was their only hope.
The battle of Manhattan was brutal yes but the Olympians still ended up helping the demigods. And there were 3 big 3 kids in attendance, Percy, Thalia and later Nico.
As far as we know there was no additional aid to Camp Jupiter. And well if there was it definitely didn’t come from the Olympians.
Not to mention most of Camp Jupiter is made up of legacies who are mortals and can’t heal from ambrosia or nectar.
And this battle took place before Hazel ever showed to so all Camp Jupiter had was Jason. Everything was riding on his shoulders.
Jason was literally all they had and I can’t imagine what that kind of pressure must’ve felt like.
And you just know that even with him beibg the son of Jupiter and their only damn chance at victory that people wanted him nowhere near the fight.
Soley because he was part of the 5th cohort and we can’t be saved by some low ranked solder. Lives are on the line but go off I guess.
So Jason is not only wrestling with everyone’s expectations, he’s had no time to prepare. And I frankly refuse to believe anyone thought Jason would survive Krios.
Including Jason himself.
Which is a whole other layer of fucked up because oh so you literally sent him to his maybe death just to save yourselves.
Hell knowing Jason he probably volunteered knowing all of that.
Whenever I picture Jason beating Krios it’s this impossible feat that he somehow accomplished. It takes everything he has in him.
That by the end he’s barely able to stand from this fight and the many he fought getting here.
Jason raises his sword, stained in a titans golden ichor and his own red blood, as a symbol of strength for Rome.
That he doesn’t go down until it’s over and when he falls no one’s even around to catch him.
And you just know that among the celebrations and praises that someone will be out there critiquing his form.
And how he fought in a less then Roman way because nothing Jason does is ever enough for these people.
