Like. Obviously the biblically accurate canon appearance of the Minecraft cubitos that we all collectively brain rot and obsess over are not going to even vaguely resemble the real people we draw them as, and personally I think that’s beautiful.

Oh my gosh Rain thank you sm!!! I got a drawing ask from deityoftherain I feel so famous lol. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to get to all of them right now, but I’ve got one done, and hopefully in the future when I have more time I can do more of them (I'm particularly excited by the one I have planned for Scott, flower husbands my beloved they were literally my first fandom love, so I neeeed to do a piece with them)

but yeah here is my piece for my number 4 song: Sleep, by My Chemical Romance, with Pearlescent Moon

I wanted it to feel like a glitchy and vaguely haunted old cassette tape, because that’s always what I picture when I hear the recording in the beginning of the song. I didn’t quite manage to capture the vibe I was going for, but I’m proud of the drawing overall. Also I messed up the lyrics slightly- it’s good night not good bye -and it’s driving me insane but I don’t have time to fix it lol. Also 4:42 is the length of the song. Ramble about why I chose red pearl for this piece under the cut (I will admit it was something of a coin flip between whether this song would go to Pearl or Joel, but in the end there was another song on the list that I really wanted to use Joel for. Also Joel would never feel bad about the murder lol /silly) vvvvvvvvv

This song feels so Pearl to me because it’s talking all about how haunted the person feels (technically The Patient from the black parade but I just tried to go off of what the individual song is about rather than the album lore) by all of the bad things they’ve done in the past, claiming not to feel bad and saying their irredeemable, while simultaneously condemning themselves and torturing themselves with guilt. They don’t think they’re worthy of being saved because of “the monsters that [they’ve] been” and sort of switching back and forth between a sort of morbid joy at the freedom of giving in to being unforgivable because they don’t have to search for forgiveness and a terrible sorrow and regret and fear at the destruction in their past, the loss that they caused themselves and are now suffering for, the guilt over the people they’ve hurt. They see no redemption for themselves, and feel both pain at the horrors that set them on this path and peace at letting their worst natures consume them, no longer having to try to walk backwards and instead marching forwards on the path of darkness and, if we tie it back to the album lore, the parade of death. If you have to be there, why not take the lead?

A smallishbeans (wow I type that so often autocorrect thinks that’s a real word lol) because I can. I was bored and had nothing but printer paper and crayola markers on hand so all in all I think it came out pretty well.

I know I have not been posting as much, and that’s because I’ve decided that I’m not gonna drive myself insane trying to get a real following for fandom art, which unless you are selling your fanart, which I am not, is a purely recreational engagement. I am also going to give myself the freedom to shitpost somtimes as well, because I seem to have forgotten that this is in fact my blog, that I can post whatever I like on lol. Like, have any of you considered that Joel’s laugh at the end of wild life is the same laugh as jack from last kids on earth??? Like I heard it and was like immediately “is that jack lkoe?” (Idk if other people abbreviate it, that’s a long ass title I’m not typing that out lol) I’ve decided that I literally do not care how many notes I get anymore because willful ambivalence is better than extreme anxiety and burn out lol. So, I’ll still be taking art reqs and stuff, but expect a LOT more sketch pages, OCs, fanart for other fandoms, and long rambling paragraphs. Hopefully. Or I’ll vanish for months at a time. Who knows? The point is, this is a personal blog, so I want to use it more as a space to be. Just a person. Anyway, bye!

if you are drawing Etho slab fanart, chances are you know that his skin is based of kakashi, and I think we see that reflected. Like, we know that’s meant to be a mask, and that gray on his head band is piece of metal and not more hair, and that’s meant to be sandals, and that’s meant to be vest with pockets. So that’s how we draw it. But what if it wasn’t? I just had this fun idea so I grabbed a reference for his actual Minecraft skin and just. Pretended I had no idea who kakashi was. How would I draw him? How might I interpret his outfit, his hair? Idk, just a silly doodle. Nothing revolutionary. I’d love to see other people try this idea for Etho or any other mycts that you love. To just. Pretend you don’t know what everything is meant to be and see how you might interpret their Minecraft skin.
