Spider-Man: New Dawn Chapter 1

Spider-Man: New Dawn Chapter 1

Chapter Synopsis: Glimpse into the new life of Peter Parker after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home and witness the beginning of a new company that begins to take New York by storm.

Word Count: 6.2k

Expected Reading Duration: 30 min

Chapter One: In the Mind of a Spider

—————

Everything happens for a reason. That is what everyone always said. You lost your job? Oh, there are bigger plans for you. Your girlfriend broke up with you? She wasn’t the one. Now, picture this scenario and see if it applies to the saying.

Your parents die just when you are a little kid. Your uncle dies, too. Then, you see your mentor, a man you practically looked to as a father, sacrificing himself to save not just the world but the entire universe. And not to mention, you almost destroyed the said universe your mentor died protecting, saw your aunt get killed, and then everyone in the world, including those you know and love do not remember you… was that supposed to happen?

Does all death and pain lead to a better life? Peter wanted to believe that. He genuinely did. But when he tried to look on the bright side, the dark thoughts started and would always become a battle. It was a battle between the teenager who loved Star Wars, who was a nerd building legos with his best friend while swinging around the city, doing something he loved, against the tragic past he had following him. You couldn’t stop him. “When you can do things that I can, but you don’t, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you.” Words from an old mentor still haunt his mind. You got there too late. A man he was named after who didn’t get to see the person he had become. She was right there, why couldn’t you just grab her? “With great power comes great responsibility.” A woman who was too good for the world, who could see the best in even the worst people. They won’t remember your face. No more funny moments with Happy talking about RuPaul, no more late nights gushing about a movie series they had both seen a million times with Ned. “I’ll see you again.” And no more late-night kisses snuck in by MJ.

It was all gone. Peter didn’t think he could start over. Not with what happened after that spell took place. It felt hopeless when you had to start over with nothing… But he had to.

The world didn’t need Peter Parker but it needed Spider-Man. The thing that nearly kills him, what had caused all the destruction Peter had both seen and caused at such a young life was the thing that kept him going in such a miserable way. He kept it close to his heart.

But from now on, things will be so different compared to the old days.

—————

“The problem is you, trying to live two different lives. The longer you do it, the more dangerous it becomes.” Doctor Strange’s words echoed. Then Peter could see it all. On top of the Statue of Liberty, it was so quiet. Peter’s eyes, the ones that had nothing but so much hate the entire day, held sadness, the same when he saw the wonderful light in his Aunt May’s eyes slowly die out when she passed in his arms. Strange was in the air, orange sparks flying around with magical symbols surrounding the statue. Purple rips floated in the orange sky, showing how the multiverse was beginning to break down, piece by piece.

All because of him. All because he trusted a man he had just met enough to give him some of the most powerful glasses in the world. It was his fault.

But all Peter could focus on was MJ and Ned, frowns set on both of their faces. He looked at Ned, the boy who had stuck beside Peter for years, who had never judged him for who he was both before and after Spider-Man.

But then, he looked at the beautiful girl beside his best friend. MJ was heartbroken, Peter could tell. He hated seeing that look on her face and after everything Peter had put her through in such a young relationship, this is what he was giving her. A spell that would cause not just them, but everyone to not remember Peter and a few promises he knew he could not keep.

His eyes glossed over because he knew his time would be up, soon. And all he could think was, “I’ll find you,”

Suddenly, a pair of chestnut-brown eyes opened from a deep slumber, staring up at a dirty and old ceiling. Peter always woke up at the same time like clockwork. His body was so programmed to his routine that he didn’t need an alarm clock or someone to tell him to wake up. But getting out of bed was the hardest.

It was one of those moments where Peter just questioned if everything was even worth it because honestly, was it, at this point? But those thoughts didn’t take over. He could hear May telling him to get up, that he couldn’t already be done with a day that hadn’t even started.

So, he got up. Groggily, Peter slowly got up from his cheap mattress, the thing groaning in what sounded like distress to Peter as he arose, like from the dead. He stretched, letting out a yawn while taking everything in. He could smell the faint but lingering air freshener he tried to spray around to get rid of the musty smell floating around the apartment. He could already hear the sounds of Brooklyn outside thanks to his super hearing.

It was not a good way to start a morning, in Peter’s mind but he had to start somewhere, right? So, he began walking around his room, looking for his work uniform.

He had left the place a mess after last night, during one of his focused nights. At his desk, a place that Peter never seemed to leave, had different papers scattered on it with notes and sketches, new ideas for his suit. He had an old cup of ramen sitting around, one he didn’t bother to finish eating but above his desk held a few things on his wall like his GED certificate, a piece of paper that he held dear to his heart, a picture of May he managed to find right after the spell, as well as a picture of Ned and MJ, just to remind him that he still had something to live for.

Peter walked around the dim room in a haze, looking for the damned clothing but after a while, he finally found it stashed in the corner of the small closet in his room. He set the clothes down on his bed before he walked out, going into the dull living room that held nothing but a few boxes lying around, a brown couch, and a small TV stacked on yet another cardboard box.

While walking, Peter hadn’t seen where he was going as he approached the bathroom, accidentally stubbing his toe on the door he tried to open. He let out a hiss and a small curse, hopping away from the door, which he sent a small glare before he opened it, and walked into the bathroom with an aching big toe.

When he got into the tiny room, he flipped the light on with a simple flick of a switch and soon, he could see himself in the mirror.

Peter was not the same when he first started this. The first thing he noticed was the bags under his eyes that showed his lack of sleep due to either his patrols or the sudden bursts of energy he got in the middle of the night to make small adjustments to his suit. He also had a small bit of stubble growing on his face which was unfamiliar to him, given that he usually tended to keep his face clean and without any facial hair but he was too tired to deal with it now. Peter let out a sigh as he looked at his reflection before opening the medicine cabinet that was his mirror to grab an orange pill bottle.

He never took his pills much. He got them but he always procrastinated with them, making up an excuse that he was fine, that he wasn’t depressed. But today, he knew he needed them. So, he popped the cap off and took two of the white pills, dry, before getting ready for work.

He quickly brushed his teeth, fixed his hair, and did everything he had to do. After a while, Peter was back in his bedroom, dressed in his pizza delivery uniform with the letters, Tony’s Pizza, imprinted on the breast pocket and with that, a name tag that spelled Peeta because the Italian owner who was still slightly struggling with English had mistaken what Peter had told him when asking for his name. With his red, orange, and black uniform on, he grabbed the backpack he always took with him, as well as his phone, and set off.

He walked out into the hallway and locked his apartment door but when he turned away from it, he was greeted with a sight.

Across the hall from his apartment was another door, similar to his with the chipped-off, old, white paint that looked gray rather than white with a rusted golden handle but instead of the number 213 on the door, like Peter’s, the other door held 215.

The door was cracked open, old jazz music coming from within the apartment with a very tempting smell of a good breakfast: eggs, bacon, maybe some toast? Peter couldn’t tell. But then, he was soon cut from his thoughts when he heard a familiar voice call out for him.

“Mornin’, Parker.” The voice said to him. Peter had turned his head toward where the mail holders were, at the end of the hall, and he saw his neighbor, Cami Rivera, standing with such a relaxed stature Peter wished he could have.

Peter had only known her for a few months, ever since he had moved into the complex but they were comfortable around each other to the point where they already knew each other's names. Peter only knew a bit about her. She originally came from Louisiana, having moved here, herself, a few months before him with her grandmother who was most likely responsible for the music coming from her apartment. He also knew that she was an art student, if that counted for anything.

Peter looked at the tawny-skinned girl and gave her a tight-lipped, tired smile and a quick nod of his head. “Morning-”

Before he could finish his words, Peter was interrupted by a louder voice that came from Cami’s apartment. “Is that Peter out there?!” Cami’s grandmother, Margaret, called out from within, making Peter’s eyes slightly widen as he flinched. When Margaret usually talked to Peter, it led from one thing to another and then something else and Peter could admit that she was a sweet woman but it was just that he did not feel like talking much, this morning.

And Cami seemed to pick that up. Cami’s narrow, brown eyes also widened but she quickly came up with an excuse to cut Peter some slack.

“No, Ma, it’s just Larry!” Cami said back to her, raising her voice a little but the mention of the name caused the older lady to grumble and soon quiet down but Peter could not help but let out a small snort at the mention of Larry, the meanest man he knew that lived down the hall.

Peter mouthed a quick ‘thank you’ to Cami and she nodded her head toward him as she held a few envelopes in her hand from the mail.

Before Margaret could find out Cami’s words were not true, Peter quickly snuck away to the stairs to start heading down.

—————

Spring was already a full-throttle in New York. Christmas decorations were already taken down and the leaves fallen from many trees were coming back, very slowly.

But damm, it was cold as hell. Peter hadn't expected the temperature to drop so much today, his nose already slightly red as he walked down the familiar sidewalk that led to his work. His hands were buried in his pockets, providing him some sense of warmth.

But after a while longer, he realized that he was at the shop. He let out a sigh of relief as he approached the building, reaching out to grab the metal handle that stung his hand, coldly.

When Peter first walked into the tiny pizza shop, the first thing he heard was the bell that chimed above the door, making the older man who was already in the back of the shop look from his spot to see Peter.

“Peeta!” The man himself, Tony, exclaimed, his accent clear in the single word he said. Peter gave the same tight-lipped smile he gave Cami, earlier that morning, to Tony as the door closed behind him and he walked into the shop.

“Morning, Mr. Falci,” Peter greeted as he slipped off his backpack, walking into the ‘employees only’ door, a tiny room with just a few lockers and a foldable chair. As he was approaching the door, he could hear someone in the room talking in what Peter assumed was Spanish. His steps began to slow down with his brow furrowing as he got closer. He waited a moment outside the door before he reached out for it and then, he opened the door, revealing none other than Peter’s coworker, Eddie.

He was standing in the center of his room, his mouth moving fast with his words moving faster as he spoke into the phone that was in his ear. His brows were slightly furrowed but based on his words and emotion, Peter believed he was getting scolded, or trying to defend himself. Eddie was a younger guy, still in high school. He almost reminded Peter of himself.

Based on what Peter could hear before he walked in, he assumed that Eddie was talking to his mother, something about coming home late. But before Peter could hear more, Eddie’s hazel eyes widened when he noticed that Peter was walking in. So, he quickly said ‘bye’ multiple times on the phone, still in Spanish, which led to more yelling coming from behind the line that you did not even need super hearing to hear. But Eddie took the phone from his ear and pressed the red ‘hang up’ button, giving Peter an awkward smile as he put his phone in his pocket.

“Hey…” Eddie said as if Peter had not caught him getting chided by his mother. Peter just raised a brow at him, managing to hold in an amused smirk that almost got away from him. “Tony’s gonna kill you if he finds out you’re on your phone back here,” Peter said to the younger man as he walked to his locker, puting his bag in the locker he frequented the most.

“Oh, I don’t care about that man,” Eddie said, his Brooklyn accent coming out more as he slouched his shoulders with a groan. “I can’t just ignore my mom like that, dude. I know you wouldn’t do the same thing,” Eddie said, trying to defend himself and all Peter could do was let out a chuckle under his breath. “I never said I wouldn’t call them. I’m just telling you what Tony would do to you,”

“As long as you don’t tell him,” Eddie raised a brow and pointed at Peter before squinting his eyes which caused Peter to be even more entertaining by his coworker. “Sure,” Before anything else could happen, Peter grabbed his cap with the shop’s logo and walked out of the room.

After that, he started work.

It was the same thing for Peter, nearly every day. He worked as a delivery boy for Tony’s Pizza, so he had the job of delivering whatever orders people had come up with for the shop and today was no different from an ordinary day.

His first customer came up around noon, a man ordering a simple pepperoni pizza. Peter delivered it and went on with his day but he did not realize that the customers would get worse.

The next one was an older lady who had asked for three of the special pizzas that Tony, the shop owner, had come up with. The pizza shop was in Brooklyn but the customer was all the way in Manhattan. And because Tony would not invest in at least a vehicle of transportation for Peter to use, the young man had to take a subway to the apartment just for the lady to complain that he was too late and that the pizza was probably cold. But Peter did not mind her, even if he did not get a tip.

The next customer was some frat boy. He did not even talk to Peter when he arrived at the house but at least he got a good tip. And then more customers went. Some were good, some were not so good. Peter had even gotten his first prank delivery, today, having showed up at an abandoned building. He should’ve known, given that the name of the order was for a Mike Hunt. With no one to take the pizza, Peter declared it a free lunch for him. But after that, the day just kept on going on and on.

But finally, the clock struck 6 and at that point, Peter knew that his shift was over. So, he left the pizza shop, saying a quick bye to Tony, who was standing behind the front counter, before he raced back to his apartment. He managed to get back inside his apartment and went to his bedroom, taking off the backpack he brought with him to set it on the bed. He unzipped it and dug around for a while before he finally felt what he was looking for.

Peter slowly took out the familiar blue and red fabric that he had in his bag. He held it in his hands, staring down at the spider symbol at the center of it.

After a while, he then let out a sigh before he started taking off his work uniform.

It didn’t take him long to change and soon, his bedroom was empty, one of the windows to the room that usually had a curtain in front of it shutting.

The bedroom was dark and quiet, Peter’s backpack and uniform lying on the bed. Outside, a blue and red flash went through the sky, almost too fast for anyone to even notice.

It stayed in the shadows, away from the view of other people but sooner or later, the fading light of the sunset peaked on it, showing a glimmer of the familiar hero everyone knew.

When Peter was Spider-Man, it was almost an escape for him. He could leave Peter Parker and that life for a moment just to use his powers for good. But like he thought, it was almost an escape.

Life as a hero got harder after what happened at the Statue of Liberty, with Doctor Strange, Peter’s variants, and a lot of the villains that had come from the multiversal rift. America had grown scared of heroes, worried that they would cause more destruction than good.

There were a few people who still showed a good light to heroes or the view that remained, now. An example was Sam Wilson, Captain America. He was a symbol of hope. People believed that he was the change needed to bring back the old days when the Avengers thrived.

But a lot of other people disagreed. And that motioned New York to be very supervised by the government regarding heroes.

There were cameras everywhere, monitoring what happened. When a robbery happened or a villain caused chaos, the police were usually sent to handle the business. And that left a tough situation for Peter. If he was caught out in public with the police, they would try to arrest him now, which was such a difference from when he first started as Spider-Man.

He was loved, and people adored him when he swung around the city. Things felt easier, back then.

But now, the public does not view Spider-Man the same. Peter could not even remember how many news outlets had always painted him out to be the bad guy in a situation he tried to handle.

For example, he stopped a hostage situation at the bank. A little fight happened but in the end, Peter got the suspects in prison. But the Daily Bugle, one of the many outlets, had told the public that Spider-Man was a danger.

“He caused more harm than good! He damaged public property, manhandled police cars, put the lives of the hostages at risk! One of them even suffered a broken arm!” All from the words of J. Jonah Jameson.

And might Peter add, the hostage left with a sprained arm, not a broken one. He always thought that man was too dramatic when it came to the superhero.

Peter hated to see those kinds of news articles. But then, there were a few small things that kept him up. Little videos from his past resurfacing on YouTube, people acting excited to see the now rare Spider-Man out in public. That showed that there were still a few people who stuck with him, even after all this time, after everything he had done.

Did he feel like he deserved the praise? Absolutely not. Not with how he almost set his own universe to the brink of destruction. But it brought a glimmer of hope to see things like that.

So, as Spider-Man, he stayed in the shadows. He waited until night came over to start his patrol. He would try to keep things small and not let them get too big. He did not want himself recorded or caught by the law, so he always worked in the shadows, which was a complete turn from how he worked as a teenager.

He was not the same bubbly hero everyone knew but he still got the work done, just with fewer words and more drive to what he was doing.

Today, nothing happened. A small robbery that Peter quickly solved, nothing he could not handle but that was it. There was nothing else he could see that needed help.

Things would be easier with KAREN, Peter always thought, but even she was gone.

So, that night, Peter was left back alone with his thoughts as he sat on top of a random building, looking out at the thriving city. His eyes were closed behind the mask, taking everything around him in. He could smell the air. He could taste the fabric of his suit as his tongue poked out from his thin, pink lips every now and then to moisturize them. He could hear different car sirens going off around the city.

Thinking of his senses was the only way for Peter to escape his thoughts. It’s what he did every night. He would go through his day, thinking about what he did, and if he could do something different the next.

But the longer he stared off into space, the more those dark thoughts had started to come up. He thought about what happened on the Statue of Liberty.

It was all a fever dream to him. Strange’s spells, two other Spider-Mans, MJ almost falling, May dying… but there was one thing that Peter would never forget, something he could hear, even now. That evil laugh.

That laugh was what always got him the most. Peter had been through a lot of things but that laugh belonging to that grinning, green demon was the focal point of Peter’s thoughts.

Sometimes, he thought he could hear the familiar hum of his board flying around. He would have to look over his shoulder to make sure that it wasn't real. He could still remember that sinister grin on the mask’s face. He could still hear that raspy voice-

But before he could think too long, Peter blinked and snapped out of it. He cleared his throat and shifted in his spot, going to stand from his squatting position to stare back off to the city.

He looked around for a moment before his eyes landed on a certain building, one that was being constructed.

It had been there for about a month, now. At first, Peter did not know what the building was supposed to be but as the weeks went by, he figured it out, piece by piece.

At the front of the building, at the top, a sign was up there. It was not glowing because, obviously, the building was not finished but it showed everyone what was coming to New York.

A symbol with an ‘O’ and an ‘S’ was showcased at the top and the bottom of the sign was the word, Oscorp.

Peter had heard about the company a bit on the news but he never paid much attention to it, his mind always taken by something else.

But now that he was seeing the building and the company’s name, he felt something.

He did not know why but his gut twisted and something gnawed at the back of his mind, telling him that something was wrong.

But he ignored it. He was always in a negative headspace, so he just thought that what he was feeling was something he should not worry about.

After a while of standing in that same spot, Peter finally decided to call it a night. He swung off of the building and back to his apartment, which was not far off. He got to his bedroom window, and he was grateful that it was in front of an alleyway rather than a busy street, making it easier for him to sneak in after his patrols.

He got into his room and took off his mask, letting out a breath now that he was not filtered by the fabric of his suit. He set his mask down on his desk and quickly got ready to end the night.

After a quick shower and another bowl of cheap ramen he got from the convenience store that was, ironically, right next to Tony’s Pizza, he shut off all of his lights in his room and connected his phone to a charger before he got into his bed and under the sheets.

He stared up at that dirty and old ceiling, his body feeling tired but his mind awake. He couldn't even think to sleep. The city outside was still awake, making it even harder for him. So, his thoughts started back up.

Peter knew he would start the same thing over, tomorrow. He would wake up, get ready for work, deliver a few pizzas, and then go out for his patrols before he would go back to his apartment, sleep, and start everything over, again. An endless cycle of the same thing, every day, every week, every month, possibly every year.

It tired him, sometimes. Like he always thought, could he do something different? Maybe he could switch something up. He could get back into school, start focusing on something he liked. He could get back into science, again. Find a few people to befriend and hang out with.

He would love that so much but he did not have that luxury. He needed to keep his life simple. That meant blocking off everyone just to keep them safe. To keep his identity as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man limited to not draw enough attention to start up something.

He had to protect himself. It’s what he did to survive. But now and then, nostalgia would draw her head in. Peter thought back to the old days as he began to drift off to sleep.

As he began to close his eyes, he was not a 19-year-old depressed man living off of ramen and a few hours of sleep but rather, he was a 16-year-old boy, sleeping in his old room, knowing May was close by, safe. He knew Ned and MJ were a phone call away and that Tony was still alive, too. He was not alone. He could not be.

Peter slept with the comforting feeling of his old life, even if he knew that when he woke up, he knew that dream would soon disappear.

—————

Further away from Brooklyn and toward New York City, up in the richer neighborhoods where everything happened, something important was taking place, today. It was a cloudy day, rain very possible for the natives of the city.

There was a building, one that looked tall and modern, with windows on nearly every side.

Inside, chatter and footsteps filled the place. The windows of the modern building offered beautiful lighting in the spacious room.

Different kinds of people walked into the building but a small amount. People from different news outlets, and investors. All for the mysterious showcasing being held by the next biggest corporation to rise in New York, Oscorp.

As people walked in, they would be introduced to the room with the stage holding the company’s logo and above, a screen that showed all the information needed to know about the recent company.

The voice of a woman on the screen was on repeat, for everyone to hear. The woman stood in a graceful position, a professional smile set on her face while on her body, she wore a black dress with green accents, the logo for Oscorp decorated on the front where she had her hands folded. “Good morning and welcome to a special presentation brought to you by Oscorp, where we’re not just imagining a better world but we’re building it. We welcome you to sit down, a grab a nice and tasty treat or a glass of whatever appeases you to get comfortable,”

At a far wall in the room, there was a table that provided many snacks and drinks, such as finger sandwiches and champagne, which a few people were at.

“While waiting for the presentation to start, learn about Oscorp, the company founded by an incredible man, Norman Osborn, the man behind a vision for the future.“ The screen then showed the man, Norman.

There was not much to say about the man. He looked like he was described, a successful man confident in what he did. His brown hair was gelled back, a small grin on his face as his arms were crossed, and his suit perfectly tailored to his body not just to show how fruitful his expenses were but also show how organized he looked, just from the first glance provided by the on-screen presentation.

“He aims for this company to lead not just New York, but the world toward a better future. But what is Mr. Osborn working on? Well, here at Oscorp to help you. Whether it be from providing the most cutting-edge pharmaceuticals to advances in clean energy, we are here to enrich your day-to-day life.”

“We want to keep you safer, to feel relaxed in your own home while we do all of the hard work. That’s why Oscorp is dedicated to giving you the best of the best. Every advancement, creation, and discovery is made with the thought of humanity. So, we thank you for attending this event. You make Oscorp what it is and without you, we would have none of this,”

The screen then cut away from the woman to transition to the logo with the ‘O’ and ‘S’. Then, the lady’s voice came back, following the name of the corporation and the slogan of the company.

“Oscorp, redefining tomorrow, today.” After that, the cycle would repeat, and the video would play again for new guests walking in.

Many were already sitting some conversing with one another. In that group was Richard Blake, a rising councilman for New York and a very good investor for Oscorp. His charming smile stuck out the most as he spoke to a few news reporters here to record the presentation, today. “Well, it is an honor to be here, today,” Blake started, looking at the reporter aiming her microphone toward him while the cameraman panned the camera in his direction.

“To be a part of a better future, as one of Oscorp’s leading investors, I already know something good will come out of whatever it is the corporation is presenting, today,”

After a while longer, the screens showing the introduction video for Oscorp suddenly cut off, the symbol for Oscorp and the slogan beneath staying on the screen while the woman’s voice came back with different words. “The presentation will start in a few minutes. Please be seated,” At those words, everyone in the room went to sit down while the lady spoke out a few rules, such as no flashing lights and that if you weren't supposed to be here, to leave or be escorted out by security.

Everyone got ready for the presentation to start and after a while, the lights finally began to dim, leaving only the light from the windows and soon, the lady’s voice came back on. “Please welcome the head of the department of genetic research for Oscorp, a very smart man dedicated to his job, Dr. Miles Warren,”

The applause was heard around the room from the audience as a man walked from behind the wall on the stage, revealing Miles Warren.

The man walked out with an almost awkward smile as he looked out. His blue eyes were behind his square-shaped glasses, his white lab coat following him as he stepped to the center of the stage, his microphone set in his ear.

He nodded toward the crowd, waiting for them to finish clapping. After a while, they did stop and Miles let out a sigh before he started. “Hello,” He began, folding his hands toward his front. “Um… thank you, to each and every one of you for being here. We are fortunate that you could make it to this presentation,” His voice was mono as if his words were rehearsed well but not with any feeling.

“From the words of the CEO of Oscorp, Mr. Osborn would like to send his apologies for not being here, today, but he sends you all his best wishes,” He nodded his head and swallowed before he finally started talking about what he was here for. “Humanity, as we know it, has thrived, here on Earth, for centuries, now,” He began, slowly starting to walk around the stage as he spoke.

“But, as we have seen for the past decade, we’ve gone back rather than forward. Diseases come back stronger, and threats to Earth disrupt our peace. We’ve all seen how it has affected us. The Blip is one of those many examples,” At the mention of the horrible time, a few grimaces were seen in the audience, the memory of the five years still remembered by plenty of the world.

“But we can fix that. At Oscorp, we aim to make life better. And in the department of genetic research, we have a proposition for a way to solve the weakness of humans,” Miles had a determined look on his face, his brows slightly furrowed as his voice became passionate about what he was going to bring up.

“Oscorp would like to present… Project: Genesis,” Then, the screen above the stage changed, showing the name and information about the project.

“With Project: Genesis, this will allow for the evolution of mankind to happen, now. We have the chance at super immune systems, the power to stop whatever threatens our world and land. With this project, we plan to eradicate disease, to improve the immune system of a human being, to not just ensure that we are safe from whatever comes our way, but to ensure the future of humanity.” He took a small pause for a moment. “We could even cheat death, itself,”

A few interesting looks went toward Miles but the thought seemed impossible, right? To cheat such a natural process that had been around forever. It didn't even seem real, so it wasn't a surprise that a few people didn't believe this project, to skip death. Miles also seemed to notice this.

“It seems impossible, but it isn't,” He tried to reassure. “But it isn't. My team has worked diligently, for the past few months on this and we have come up with a solution to this answer. We wouldn't be able to tell you how this process works but think of the power we can hold,” He gestured with his hands as he spoke.

“We don't need much but what we need is your trust and what you have provided thus far as investors. At Oscorp, we are set to changing the world, and with this project…”

He looked around the audience, setting his amount of suspense. “We can change mankind, as we know it,” After that, it was quiet. Not a word was spoken from Miles or the audience but after a while, a slow wave of applause started and before Miles knew it, the audience started clapping, making a small smile come to his face as people, specifically the news reporters, began to start asking questions about the project and of course, Miles was very excited to answer them.

He was an intense man about his work. It was like his very own child. He would do anything for it, to see it come to life.

-END OF CHAPTER ONE-

—————

A/N: Yall have no idea how long it took to actually make that final Oscorp scene come together. That dialogue was painful to write but it was a fun chapter to see grow and to work on. But I hope you enjoyed it!

I will try and keep a consistent schedule regarding posting but for now, this will be it. Again, I hope you enjoyed this. Feedback or even a simple like would do. With a great heart, I hope you little nerds have a good day.
