Oh this happened to me recently.

I want to write a fanfic about a guy going dancing. Okay, I need a festival. What kind of festival could work with an underground kingdom? Okay, which festival could I pull off? Ooh! This one works well with harvest season-oh! The traditions and-oh now I have more headcanons on how the economics work in the City of Tears-

Wait-what do you mean I haven't finished writing the burb to the story yet, much less the outline?

Writing fics is hilarious- what do you mean I have to Google diagrams of stairs now??

I love the clone wars trio bc I see them all as different commentaries on the Jedi of the time.

Obi Wan is what the Jedi were.

Anakin is what the Jedi preached against.

Ahsoka is what the Jedi should aspire to be.

Obi Wan had the best of intentions: he wanted to save Anakin, to save Satine, to save Ahsoka. But in the end he failed due to Sith scheming. He was set up to fail, wether it be his dead master or the intergalactic war he was forced to fight in. And in the end Anakin did fall from the light, Satine was killed in Maul's quest for revenge, and Ahsoka walked away. He was a well-intentioned man with a good heart who was ultimately set up to fail by the Sith.

Anakin too wanted safety for his loved ones, but he took it to far. Instead of prioritizing those people, their wants and needs, he prioritized the way they made him felt. Instead of selfless love, he loved selfishly, which is exactlaly what the Jedi are against. They're not against love, they're against attachment. Anakin couldn't let go of Ahsoka: it corroded his faith in the Jedi, sowed seeds of resentment. He couldn't accept that Padme or Obi Wan didn't agree with his vision, because if they don't make him feel good, then they no longer love him. Anakin was a kind boy twisted by the Sith and his misguided attachment to others.

Ahsoka falls into a similar category as Obi Wan, except for one detial. She walked away. She recognized that the Jedi were unintentionally loosing themselves in war. And even through she was a spectacular warrior, a talented commander, she recognized that it wasn't supposed to be her job. She was able to let go of her attachment to Anakin and the 501st. She was a product of her masters and friends, of Obi Wan, Anakin, Padme, and all the others who influenced her growth. And even in the end, when her world fell, she still acted with compassion and understanding, which is exactly what a Jedi should be. Despite her discomfort with the twisted meaning of the title, Ahsoka embodied the fundamental traits of a Jedi. Not flawless, but an empathetic peacekeeper capable of embracing love and rejecting attachment.

Idk if I'm articulating it right, but the general idea is there.

Bit Of A Headcanon Chart For What Bugs In Hallownest Might Eat, Based On What We See In-game Anyway.

Bit of a headcanon chart for what bugs in Hallownest might eat, based on what we see in-game anyway. There might be aphid livestock floating around somewhere, but we didn't see it so

Bit of rambling below the cut

edit: I thought the follies/mistakes lost their sapience, but I think I was mistaken! they should be in No (Sapient)

Edible:

Self explanatory. Non-sentient insects that look tasty and aren't horribly infected/weird. Garpede is here because we've actually seen a dead Garpede, whereas we've only seen a fossilized Goam

Questionable:

These guys are either heavily infected, covered with crystals, or very weird. Aspids are hypothetically edible when not infected, maybe? But I'm not sure what that'd look like. As for the crystals, I'm not sure if the effort needed to remove all of the rocks is worth the time. Also despite Uomas and Oomas being here, I like to think Tiso eats Uomas on occasion, until he gets sick

No (Sentient):

Self explanatory.

No (Taste Bad):

Also pretty obvious.

What books are next on your reading list?

Besides books I need to read for work...I'm trying to get my brother and I to read together. Mostly, he's suppose to read a Jane Austen book while I read Horatio Hornblower...

Instead, he's reading Beowulf while I'm reading Just Stab Me Now so you can see how that's going. 🤣

Some of my writer’s block cures:

Handwrite. (If you already are, write in a different coloured pen.)

Write outside or at a different location.

Read.

Look up some writing prompts.

Take a break. Do something different. Comeback to it later.

Write something else. (A different WIP, a poem, a quick short story, etc.)

Find inspiring writing music playlists on YouTube. (Themed music, POV playlists, ambient music, etc.)

Do some character or story prompts/questions to get a better idea of who or what you’re writing.

Word sprints. Set a timer and write as much as you can. Not a lot of time to overthink things.

Set your own goals and deadlines.

Write another scene from your WIP. (You don’t have to write in order.) Write a scene you want to write, or the ending. (You can change it or scrap it if it doesn’t fit into your story later.)

Write a scene for your WIP that you will never post/add to your story. A prologue, a different P.O.V., how your characters would react in a situation that’s not in your story, a flashback, etc.

Write down a bunch of ideas. Things that could happen, thing that will never happen, good things, bad things.

Change the weather (in the story of course.)

Feel free to add your own.

Just saving this for future reference...

I have seen some people dont know how to install mods, or how to use them. so i wanted to write a guide how to install them and make your game mod ready, because there are so many great mods, which enhance a already great game

Download Smapi, over on https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/2400 and extract it. this site requires a account, but its where most stardew mods are. the premium subscription is unnecessary, since 99% of mods will be instantly downloaded

double click whatever file corresponds to your system. i will wirte this for windows. if you use linux, follow the onscreen examples. for windows, press 1, enter, 1, enter and copy the address you see on screen which starts with "c:\" including the ""

open your steam library and rightclick stardew in the sidebar, press properties and paste the address you just copied in the launch options and close the window.

to add mods, right click stardew in your sidebar again, but press browse local files. now open the new "mods" folder. to make it easier to find, right click that folder and press "pin to quick access"

download mods and enjoy the game. go back to the "nexus mods" site and download any mods you like. if you want to start with peak, download stardew valley expanded and its required mods. one of the few mods you have a wait to download. just copy the mod into the mods folder and extract it.

a few recommendations: generic mod config menu and ui info suite

have fun!

You can say that again Buddy! Humans are so crazy unique that it's not even funny!

I want to tell a story to the artists and would-be artists out there.

When I was 19, I made a large oil painting of the nerd I would eventually marry. I poured all my attention and care into this painting. It's the only art I have from back then that still holds up as a work I'm proud of today.

I entered it into a judged show at the local art center. It got an honorable mention. I went to see the show with my beloved model. One of the judges came up to talk to me, and highlighted that all the judges really liked the painting. It would have placed, except, you see, the feet were incorrect. They were too wide and short, and if I just studied a bit more anatomy-

I called over my future wife, and asked her to take off her shoe. Being already very used to humoring me, she did. The judge looked at her very short, very wide little foot. Exactly as I'd lovingly rendered it. I would never edit her appearance in any way.

The judge looked me in the eye, and to his credit, he really looked like he meant it when he said "Oh I'm so sorry."

Anyways the moral of the story is that all of those anatomy books that teach you proportions are either showing you averages, or a very specific idea of an idealized body. Actual bodies are much more varied than that.

So don't forget to draw from observation, and remember that humans aren't mass produced mannequins. Delight in our variation. Because it's supposed to be there.

I mean, I want to protect the precious smol bean because she is so kind and gentle...but at the same time this IS the ONE girl who utterly defeated Lance.

Anyways, if anyone wants to portray Yellow, I think people should just compare her manga arc to the Epic Conventions. You will be very surprised how much Yellow's story lines up... including the part where Yellow went to HELL and BACK!

If you all need help with the comparison, send an ask for me to post my Pokemon fanfic involving Yellow and Lysndre. Guess who ends up crying? Hint: it's not Yellow.

I've seen a few posts talking about the mischaracterization of pokespe characters recently (agreed 100%) so I'm here to jump in with a friendly reminder of my own: Yellow is not a shy, clumsy, uwu smol bean idiot. She's kind and gentle but she's also an intelligent badass in her own right. I love her and I get irritated when I see works portraying her as a little baby that needs to be protected 24/7.
