(Part 1…?)
“We used to be best friends,” The hero murmured, gazing out the window of their room. The moon shining so bright, they tore their eyes from it. The light shining through the glass, illuminating the whole place up. They sighed. “Perhaps, something more intimate that I refused to put a name on. We both refused to.”
“Dad, were you guys more than friends?” The hero’s child, a fourteen-year-old, asked them. Their eyes animated with wonder, their lips curved up a little. The hero chuckled, as they patted the teenager’s head.
“You should go to sleep now, hmm? It’s getting late.” The hero murmured, moving from the place they were standing and striding to where the other was sitting on the bed.
“Buttttttt, I have to know.” The fourteen-year-old whined, shaking their head as their parent picked them from the bed by their arm, in one sweep. “Where are they now? Do you know?” They asked again.
“No, I don’t know where he is right now, and nor do I wish to.” The hero said, eyes filling with suppressed sadness, their voice cracking. They tried to stay calm as memories of their college days came crushing in all at once, fogging their whole mind. Suddenly, they felt dizzy as they let go of the confused teenager’s arm, and sat down on the bed.
It was now or never. Every time they had this conversation, it would end with the hero staying silent the end, not wanting to bring up any reminders of the villain. They could not tell the younger one, that their best friend was none other than the most wanted criminal in the entire city. It would be too much, for both of them. Every time the assignment of finding the villain was assigned to him, they would always decline it. They couldn’t afford to meet the villain let alone, catch them. It would break them, unwillingly.
Yet, they couldn’t bury it all down again. Not when the kid was getting nothing but smarter every day, wiser. Mature. It felt wrong to hide their history any longer than they had been. So, they took a deep breath and let it all out. They told the fourteen-year-old everything that he had been wanting to, everything they didn’t tell anyone else, not even their ex-partner. Perhaps, that’s why when their partner felt that they weren't the one the hero was looking for, they decided to set them both free.
The teenager listened intently, asking their parent questions here and there. Frowning at various times, and laughing at others. It was a roller coaster of emotions, if you asked them.
“So…you still love them then?” They questioned, eyes brows raised.
The hero glanced away, wiping away the tears that unknowingly left out of their eyes, “I wish I could say no, but yes. Yes, I do love-," Before the hero could finish his sentence, there was a big thud from the kitchen. The teenager glanced at their dad, their eyes filled with surprise.
They both quickly but quietly made their way to the kitchen, the hero in the front, while their child trailed behind.
When they peeked out behind the wall of the kitchen, the hero's heart stopped. The villain stood there, appearing smug.
The villain stumbled back, as the hero pushed him against the wall. His hands on the villain’s waist, their lips on each other. The villain held the hero by his face, deepening their kiss.
Not long after, they pulled back. “You’re such a good kisser, you know that?” The villain panted, his chest heaved up and down.
The hero chuckled, a low sound from his throat. “I learned from the best.” He winked. He let go of his hold on the villain’s waist, and turned around. The villain followed through, back hugging the hero.
“You know, you were here to battle me to death, not chase after my lips.” The villain whispered in the hero’s ears. The hero raised an eyebrow, and turned around.
"Well, you asked for it." The hero returned, smiling faintly. "And, anyway, I'm not on duty right now. No obligations." The villain pulled him close for another kiss. He knew, in his heart, he won't get to do this for too long. Someday, they'll be separated like the sun and the moon.

The hero wakes up one morning, and the first thing he does is call the villain, to tell him that he misses him. Except, the villain is not the one picking up the phone. Instead, the hero hears the voice of his partner. The hero’s partner. They’ve found the villain.

Cw: Drug use
The villain's head throbbed with pain, as they willed themself to sit up. The room was dark, with barely any light. A tiny ray of shine was coming from the window on the right, and they exhaled. Before they could figure out where they were, footsteps echoed in the room, nearing them in the passing seconds.
"Finally awake, are we?" The person spoke, the all-too-familiar voice. The villain recognized it almost immediately but still had difficulty making out what the other was saying. They blinked a few times to make his eyes focus, and brain, work. However, to their veil, it didn't work. Not really.
"Where am I?" The villain whispered into the dark, their throat so dry, it felt like he had just swallowed a handful of sand. A scared feeling crawled up their spine, raising goosebumps in its wake. The hero's voice frightening them, making them feel so small.
"You're in my office. I'm supposed to hold you hostage, until the morning." The hero uttered lazily. Unaware of how the villain's body was shaking, crawling itself in. They forced themself to say something.
"I-...I don't understand." The villain said, gulping.
"I drugged you and then brought you here. Now, do you understand?" The hero asked, an irritated edge accompanying their words. The villain closed in on themself even more and nodded in the pitch black. They blamed themself for ever believing the hero and they had anything going on between them. Clearly not.
The villain sauntered towards the hero, a blurring of his vision, his elbows scrapped, and in a second he was on the ground with the hero. The hero groaned, a stream of red blood coming from his mouth. The villain’s hands ached to wiped it away. Kiss him. But, everything in him hurt. He could barely move anymore, the hero in the same condition.
All he could make out was a last breathy, “Thank you,” as his heart rate slowed and his body stilled. The hero shook his head, his eyes filling with tears. He tried to get on his elbows, and crawl a bit closer to the villain.
“No-no…you’re not g-going anywhere. Please.” The hero whispered, his voice hitching. The villain smiled, a withering of lips barely stretching. And, the hero’s heart ached more. Pain.
What followed was the silence, the hardly touching hands, and the shallow breaths. They could not cross the distance between them, for they were far two worlds apart.

“You know what would get me going?” The hero asked, smiling slightly. “Another fight with you.”
The villain raised their eyebrows. “You’re literally on a bed in a hospital because you didn’t dodge my attack even though I warned you.”
The hero cracked a grin, a little painfully so. “I wanted to let you win for once.”
The villain’s eyes narrowed, they scanned the hero up and down before chuckling lowly. “You know, for someone who’s breathing with the help of an oxygen tank, you sure do have guts to say that.”
“Try me.” The hero replied, smug and a little cocky.
The next time they fought, the villain made sure to show the hero just how much they wanted the hero to “not win.”
If the hero was angry previously, they were furious now. They had gotten to the place where the villain had planned to fight them, on a rooftop of some burned looking building. It wasn’t what the villain went for usually, because in their opinion, it was more “fun” to damage the skyscrapers. But that’s not the reason the hero is mad. They are mad because the villain still hasn’t arrived. It has been two hours, almost three in less than 15 minutes. Honestly, where were they?!
They gazed at the empty sky that was darkening by the passing seconds. They were about to get off the floor, and leave, when they heard footsteps behind them. They stopped, their expression hardening as they frowned determinedly. They were going to make sure the villain knew that they didn’t have all day for them. They turned around, and their frowned fell just as quickly as it appeared as they saw the villain.
The villain was in no condition to fight, in fact, they looked like they might pass out the next minute. The hero’s eyes faltered and they quickly went to the villain’s side. The villain grimaced, their right hand clutching their left arm. They were breathing heavily, and the hero swore they could hear their heartbeat. Their eyebrows knitted in concern and confusion. “What happened?” They asked, willing the villain to sit down slowly. The villain winced at the uncomfortable movement, and sat down.
The villain could barely make out the words, as they whispered it: "Your fellow hero friends took the liberty of hunting me down, and beating me to death." They mumbled, the left side of their lip a little bruised, and pinkish red.
The hero's eyebrows pinched together in concentration. “Why didn’t you fight back?-” The hero started, tracing circles on the villain’s back in a gentle motion. The villain glared in response, their eyes like burning out fire, barely there, but the hero could see it. They flinched.
“Because I thought you’d come. I tried to fight back, I tried. But, then I couldn’t. And I waited and waited for you but you never came to save me.”
“I didn’t know.” The hero replied, now frowning in somewhat of a fury of their own. How could the villain blame them? They had done nothing wrong, they didn’t even know the villain was being tortured by those heroes.
“That’s not the point! You knew where my hideout was, you could have! Besides, how did the other heroes find me? Only you knew of my location…oh my god, please don’t tell me you gave them my location.” The villain’s furious face was now turning into one of a sad and terrified. The realization that the hero could have betrayed them makes them want to die right then and there. Of course, it was an assumption, but that made it all the worse. The fact that they could even think as far as that.
The hero’s eyes widened in disbelief that the villain could ever think of such a thing of them. They would never do that. “I would never. Why would I do that? I didn’t do it. I promise.” They said, softly.
The villain swallowed, and looked down. This was all getting to their head right now. The injuries, the wounds, the pain. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking…of course you wouldn’t.” They said, meeting the villain’s eyes again, but this time with more calmness and understanding.
The hero nodded slowly, even though the villain could trace hints of sadness in their eyes at the assumption the villain made. The villain gently cradled the hero’s cheek. “I’m so sorry.” They whispered again. The hero nodded, smiling slightly.
“Let’s get your injuries treated.” They said, and lifted the villain up in their arms.
“I love you, too.” The villain told the hero, as he stabbed him in the stomach with a knife. The hero’s breath choked, as his eyes widened, and then closed little by little. The villain let out a cold exhale, as he did the same to himself.

(Sly villain x shy hero)
The hero’s breath hitched as their back pressed firmly to the wall, they yelped. “Surrender yet?” The villain asked, grinning.
The hero blushes at the proximity, and glanced away. They forced themself to steady their breath. “N-no. I’m not giving up.” They said, and it almost came out childish. Their voice was low, almost like a whine.
The villain only grinned wider, pressing closer. Their breath brushed against the shell of the hero’s ears. “You know, I love seeing that blush on your face when you know that I’m winning.”
The hero’s eyes broadened, as they wiped at their cheeks. “I-I’m not blushing.”
“Oh yeah? Then why are your cheeks red?” The villain asked cheekily.
“It’s…it’s eczema!” The hero replied, their voice pitched. The villain chortled.
“It’s cute if you think I wouldn’t know if you had eczema. Clearly, you don’t know what eczema looks like.” The villain remarked, as they stepped back a few steps.
The hero slightly pouted, glancing away. Their body started turning cold at the loss of contact. “Think whatever you want.”
The villain shook their head with a fond smile, and the hero was so lost in that said smile that they didn’t even notice as the villain quickly backed away into the shadows from where they had appeared.
The hero gasped, quick on their feet to catch the villain, who were far gone.
The villain came forward, slow and unwavering. A mask was plastered on his face, but it failed to disguise his face completely. The hero recognized him immediately.
The ballroom echoed with music all around. People laughed and danced with joy spilling out of them. Each one of them was dressed in fancy gowns and suits. Everyone was having fun, except the hero.
Damn this mission, the hero thought.
The villain let on an almost sweet smile as he reached close to the hero. "May I have the pleasure of dancing with you, handsome?" The hero's heartbeat rose. Suffocating him, the room was.
The hero glanced around, begging for someone to come for him and stop this from happening. No one came. He hesitated, before giving his hand to the villain and letting him guide him.
The villain led him to the dance floor, and let his hands fall to the hero's waist. The hero felt himself doing the same.
"You know, the mask doesn't help in hiding your pretty face." The villain whispered in the hero's ears. His hands tightening around the hero's waist.
"I never meant to." The hero returned, suddenly confidence. If he was going to do this, he was going to do it right, he thought, as he squeezed the villain's waist back.

“You can’t top me.” The villain said, frowning.
“Yeah, I can.” The hero spoke back.
“No, you can’t-,” The villain insisted, getting impatient.
“I can.” The hero narrowed his eyes challengingly.
The sidekick looked between them, confused. “Can you not talk about your sexual intercourse positions in front of me? Goodness!”
The hero raised his eyebrows, cracking up. The villain laughed as well, turning a bit red. He shook his head, “We’re talking about who will score the most highest in the game we play every night.”
The sidekick stood there, staring in shock.
“And anyway, we all know who tops.” The hero winked at the villain, and the villain turned full on shade of crimson. He glared at the hero, but the hero just gave an innocent smile.
