Military Dress Sword

Culture: English

Medium and techniques: gilt brass, wood, fish skin, silver wire, gilt, blued steel/etched

Measurements: overall length 95cm; blade length 62cm

The sword has a gilt/brass hilt with an oval pommel cap. The oval wooden grip is covered in grey fishskin bound with herringbone of silver wire. The straight steel two-edged blade features etched gilt and blued panels decorated with Royal Arms and military trophy.

DIY Life Magazine Inspired Retro Wrap Top Tutorial from Freshly Given.

Whitney at Freshly Given got her inspiration for this DIY wrap top after looking through vintage ads. In the comments someone asked how long and wide the finished blouse was. Whitney’s response was:

I just measured: width 20 inches, length 20 inches. These measurements are based on the top being folded in half at the shoulder/ neck area. So the width is shoulder to shoulder and the length is top of shoulders to bottom of waist.

It seems like all of the resources I can easily find online for identifying wolves vs dogs are either massive and difficult to understand without prior knowledge of the subject, or extremely bare-bones and miss a lot of key information. I tried to hit a comfortable middle-ground. (sorry if it’s a little wordy) This tutorial is made as a reference for drawing, so everything but purely visual differences between dogs and wolves have been left out. I’ve been wanting to make this for a while now, so I’m glad I finally sat down and did it! **EDIT** When it comes to the section on wolfdogs, please take it with a grain of salt. With something as complicated as genetics, they are of course, not going to be as simple as I make it seem. What features different levels of content can display, and even which percentages designate which levels of content are often hotly debated within the wolfdog community. At this point I’ve elected not to change the image set itself because: a. it’s a huge pain in the ass b. this is a tutorial for beginning artists. It’s meant to be a hugely simplified version of the topic, and I’ve stated clearly that it is NOT to be used in real-world identification. Arms huh…yeah I have to say, arms are a pain for me to draw sometimes. It’s hard to make them look natural and it’s part of what make drawing people so difficult, because if the arm don’t look right, the rest of the body looks stiff. The shoulder, arms, and hands are among the most expressive of body parts, so it’s important to keep that in mind. Everything I know about drawing arms is based off of real life observation lol. (seriously though, I’ll stare at people’s arms, and sometimes my own, when I’m at the gym. If you have especially nice arm muscle definition, I will stare a lot lmao. I also just stare at people’s arms in general too. I promise I’m not creepy.) This is a basic rundown of how I go about drawing arms:

I divide it into three parts, the shoulder part that connects it to the rest of the body, the upper arm, and the forearm. Three tube-like lumps lmao. You can vary the amount of muscle and muscle definition to change it up.
