Kind of imagined Hufflepuffs would encourage everyone to try out, even young third years (even if they don’t make the team just yet).

I figured I might as well post my quick studies.

It’s been a month, so I’m probably never going to “finish” this so I might as well post it already.

Some messy sketches of Severa and my original character, Oliver.

I’m a huge fan of Cordelia and Stahl so that’s how Oliver happened. I figured it would be a good contributing reason for why Severa acts so tough all the time (I mean, come on, a war with a younger sibling by your side, got to seem like everything is fine even when all hell is breaking loose) and really cute if her younger sibling was super affectionate and Severa secretly likes his hugs.

I have a bunch more drawings/illustrations of him, that I will post when I finish (not as sketchy as these hehe)

He’s around 5 years younger than Severa and I thought it would be funny if when they traveled to the past, he would arrive many years earlier, so by the time the other children arrived, He would be as old as Lucina and Laurent. Severa would be very confused about seeing her not-so-little brother again and would find it awkward to have her now very tall brother hug her. She's also kind of sad that she wasn't there as he grew up to his current age.

I figured he’d be as easy-going as his dad, and have naturally messy hair too, but because he’s such a momma’s boy he’d try his best to keep it neat, because that's how Cordelia liked it (in the short period he knew her before she died).

Unlike Severa, he’d be good with people because he’s relaxed and empathetic like his dad. He’d also be unafraid to show how much he admired his parents and how he wants to be knights just like them. (He dreams of flying on a pegasus like his mom, but he is not a pure hearted maiden) He is horrible at wielding every weapon except the bow and arrow. Although he idolizes his parents, His sister is his ultimate hero. He thinks she is the most awesome person and warrior ever.

Also, I kind of thought of Cordelia and Stahl as another red and green knight in a way. I know the red and green knights are Stahl and Sully respectively but since Cordelia is also a Knight and has the red colour scheme going on, I kind of see them as another version of the red and green knight thing.

A character I did in Illustrator for class almost a month ago. (Although I first drew up his design last year) It was my first time using illustrator so I touched it up in Photoshop before I posted this hehe. Also, new logo 😁 

Finally finished this piece of Cloé and Jiro (My favourite couple). I did the draft (ages ago) while listening to the song “Thank You for the Music” from the Mamma Mia album.

Here is my version of Regulus Black for this month’s CDChallenge.

He is definitely an amazing character, and Hero, that needs more attention.

Regulus goes to show that just because you’re Slytherin and a Black, the series’ usual antagonists, being a Slytherin or a Pureblood (not to mention being one of the most notoriously fanatical of the families) doesn’t make you evil.

Although he became a Death Eater, He later on actually realised that Voldy is batshit (Despite how he was brought up, He’s got morals!). He was the first to discover that Voldemort made Horcruxes, and even gave his life to destroy that part of Voldemort (He’s smart!) at only 18 years old. He was also kind to his house-elf, Kreacher (awesome). 

I gave him shorter and neater hair than Sirius because since he’s practically the opposite of Sirius, I got the impression that he values and understands the responsibilities of being a member of House Black. Since Sirius left home, I’m sure he became the heir to House Black and that he would take that role seriously, even embracing it; especially since his brother set such a rebellious example that he would want to show that he is very different from his “irresponsible” older brother, that House Black would be in good hands with himself; that’s also why I wanted to emphasize his regal-ness and why I wanted to show him in non-hogwarts robes. But the snitch shapes cape/coat clip would be a nod to him being a seeker when he was a student.

Regulus is also a star in the Leo constellation (JK Rowling’s metaphors or whatever you call them are so awesome) so I gave his coat’s hood some fur to subtly reflect a Lion’s mane. The red shadow, is also a reference to his Bravery. You don’t need to be a Gryffindor to be brave, but just because you aren’t Gryffindor, doesn’t mean you can’t posses some of its qualities, like Bravery. 

I made his wand white because brown would be the common wand colours, and I wanted to show that he was very different. But I chose white specifically because it gives the impression of goodness and I wanted to reflect that side of him. I kept his wand simple because I got the impression that Sirius was the more flashy and extroverted of the two, and although Regulus’ would be the one who is proud of his lineage, he would be the more quiet and subtle kind of person.

Here’s a quickie of one of the characters I’ve been working on for the past month.

She. A super quick lighting exercise that went well probably because I was listening to She by Charles Aznavour. This is also how I would imagine Fleur Delacour. Bill Weasley you lucky dog.

He is my entry for this month’s CDChallenge with the theme Samurai. 

Based on the scenario given, (which was that the Samurai, was tasked with rescuing his/her daimyo’s love, the Geisha Sudo Magodo.) I wanted to make sure there was no possible way Sudo Magodo could fall in love with her rescuer on the way back to the palace (Didn’t want another Shrek situation). So I was trying to come up with possible ideas for that and figured that the best solution, due to the unlikelihood, would be a child. (Can’t speak for his best friend Fatu though, if he is of age.)

Yuji is a prodigy, and is the Kingdom’s last hope. He’s confident and has no doubts about his own skills, but due to his age is often overlooked. He takes advantage of this in battle but is often left out of certain activities (like drinking with his fellow Samurai) because of it. Despite being self-assured, and his fellow Samurai acknowledging his skill, and seeing him as an ally, he wants to be seen as an adult, instead of just the skilled child. He believes that by saving Sudo Magodo and therefore his Daimyo from committing Sepuku, he would finally be seen as man, and gain respect, instead of just acknowledgement.

I included some sketches of an alternate idea, that I explored just to make sure I didn’t get tunnel vision on a kid design, and therefore miss out on another possibly good design. So I figured, maybe the bonus illustration of the adult samurai could just be Yuji as an adult!

Li Yang studies (Will post more in the coming weeks)

Although fairly timid in appearance, the University student Li Yang was a writer-turned-political activist at the forefront of the Equalist movement in Republic City.

His original concept portrait can be found here

Born to two fairly wealthy travelling merchants, Li has seen much of the world and has extensive knowledge about the different nations. Despite being a frequent traveller, he and his family consider Republic City to be their home. Being a child from an upper-middle class family, he and his elder sister had access to great education. His sister, who was older than him by 7 years, studied in Ba Sing Se University and became an inventor. Li on the other hand, a child prodigy, began studying Philosophy in a University in Republic City at the age of 15.

Primarily a writer, Li was very good with words and although he appears soft-spoken and quiet Li is very articulate and can be a very inspiring speaker. He saw the injustices against non-benders, both in Republic City and around the world, and sought to change that aspect of inequality in the world. At the mere age of 16, he became one of the main proponents of the Equalist movement seeking to uplift and recognize non-benders.

When he was 17, he accompanied his sister to an international science fair held in Republic City wherein his sister introduced him to Asami, whom he bumped into earlier that week in an incident involving ice cream, and Hiroshi Sato. Li furthur impressed Hiroshi Sato with his will to uplift the non-bending population. He eventually became close to both Father and daughter.

When Amon became a dominant figure, Li openly spoke out against Amon and Amon's anti-bender ideologies. He denounced such radical ways of thinking (believing that it would eventually lead to violence), splitting the Equalist factions into two. He also mentions that discriminating against benders would just be like how non-benders are already discriminated upon. They have no control over being born as benders just as they had no control over being born non-benders. Deciding to not use their gifts of bending would be like stopping non-benders from using their own skills.

Near the end of 169 AG, Li Yang was hit by an automobile and died.

(Li Yang’s way of resolving the inequality and much of his personality is inspired by the members of the Illustrados from the Philippines during the late 1800’s)

Li was a Philosophy student who became a figurehead of one faction of the Equalist movement in Republic City before 169 AG.

A quick sketch of someone I met in one of my dreams a few months ago who I recently bumped into again.

Happy Valentines Day! Here’s Cyrus and Stella.

Cyrus is the crown-prince of Cloud Kingdom.  Stella is an awesome sword fighting warrior that can kick-ass and rock a beautiful dress like a model.

This illustration of Stella was actually a rough draft drawn over a year ago to get a feel of the more traditionally feminine aspect of her design and her overall character. This is actually her first coloured draft (without Cyrus). The one found here was the second. This is her in a formal outfit for an event or a similar scenario. I just added Cyrus (and Stella’s right arm, which is hooked onto Cyrus’) recently because his design took some time for me to really figure it, and in fact he’s still undergoing many (mostly) minor edits so that I can really get him right.

The second illustration is a sketch I did on my notebook to help incorporate Cyrus into the already existing illustration of Stella. As you can see in the sketch, this version of Cyrus’ formal attire has a slight Indian influence to it while keeping a Mesopotamian and Assyrian touch.

Two variant designs I made of Nikolai from last year. The one above is him as the Grand Duke (after abdicating the throne) and ambassador to the throne, while the second is of him as a reluctant emperor.

A rough variation of the “For Once in My Life” singer (the main character in this short storyboard I sketched up one night a few weeks ago). This was an experiment on a more boxy and square design, although I think I’ll go with the more round but more angular variation. Should post it when I’m done 😁 

I had a little too much fun with Nikolai today hehehe

On the illustration on the right, when I removed everything apart from the reds and the strap, the resulting silhouette was so strong that it just made me think of those Minimalist movie posters. So I just had to do this. I also could not pass up the opportunity of Nikolai “staring” questioningly at his movie poster hehehe.

Also, this is NOT an actual movie. Just me having fun. I just thought that if an actor would play Nikolai, the perfect face would be Matt Bomer. If someone would play Empress Natasha, it would be Natalie Portman. Elizabeth Debicki would play the Queen Nikolai ironically falls in love with.
