god okay when somebody needs you hits especially hard for a romance-repulsed aro

because i physically cannot ever feel romance, i can't feel the love that a lot of people crave, but this song captures that

the idea that people can't possible care for you if you're unable to love and sometimes even repulsed by the concept of it, when it's so focal to society. the idea that at the core, what i really want is just "someone who'll worry about [me]", all i've ever wanted is to be needed by someone and never just a second priority because i can never provide love.

and the final stanza hnnn the "if love conquers all, then all else must have failed, i mean who wants to fall, can't we just take the stairs" the idea that love conquers all because it's so focal to an amatonormative world and amatonormative society, and i personally read it as skepticism that, really, is love the solution to it all? surely there are people and there are concepts who have yet to fail. surely i have yet to fail.
