Vee?? Wtf???

Uh, so I don't like Vee's canon design, mostly her palette. A green palette could work, sure, but her specific palette is not good. Primarily because the two shades of green are almost exactly the same value (which makes them blend together), but also because it makes her look much more like a computer than a TV. Besides the colours, it kind of bothers me that she (and many other toons) are basically completely naked.

So I wanted to take a shot at redesigning her.

Here, we have a red/blue/grey colour scheme. This just makes the most sense to me; when I think "movie" or "TV" those are the colours I think of. The red and blue are also supposed to mimic 3D glasses.

She's fully clothed, in a suit because what else would she wear. Gave her white gloves bc the light value draws attention to her hands and makes her gestures easier to understand. Her face and tail glow for the same reason. I'd have Vee's tail always showing, by the way. I do not want to know where she puts it in canon. Uh. Anyway, she has a belt chain too bc they're cool.

Will make a good drawing of this design at some point, but I'm feeling lazy tonight, so yeah.

I never post here so I have crafted some mysterious OC ship art for you. Congratulations

Urmmmm I don't remember whether I've posted stuff about these guys at all in the last few months, but these are the two OCs I brainrot about the most: Ice (lighter one) and Pip (darker one). I've been working on their story lately which is a huge W for me because I'm allergic to actually working on my stories

The context for this is that they are sort of in love but the relationship is toxic. I'd say more but I don't want to give away spoilers (also because the details tend to change since I'm very indecisive).

Back at it again with my ClanGen game! You might remember me talking about ClanGen. You may naturally assume I've picked it up again recently and decided to draw my clan's ten founders, and that I spent a few days to a week making this. And you would, naturally, be wrong. I started this in February. I drew the first eight cats. All that was left was Morningpaw and Creekpaw. But I just. Stopped. And forgot about it. Until a month or so ago, when I FINALLY drew the last two cats. And then I forgot about it again until a week or two ago, when I finished it up, and I'm now posting it.

These cats are from HeronClan, a fanmade Warriors Clan that lives by the sea. They are the Clan's founders. You might have noticed the 2:3 adult to child ratio, which was an accident, and resulted in Rowanstar getting four apprentices: Wolfpaw, Webpaw, Morningpaw and Creekpaw. I can only imagine what that must have been like. Mouselarch was the only warrior at the beginning, too. I'm now in the 30-somethingth moon, and the Clan has wayyy more members now; I'm thinking of drawing another list of cats once I get to Moon 50, but we'll have to see.

Here are the traits/skills of each cat, so you can get a bit of a feel for their personalities:

Rowanstar: calm, unusually strong fighter

Toadheart: careful, great teacher

Skystripe: faithful, great hunter (pain)

Mouselarch: strange, good teacher

Wolfpaw: patient

Ganderpaw: ambitious

Hillpaw: ambitious

Webpaw: loyal

Morningpaw: compassionate

Creekpaw: cold

I started this game before the experience system changed, so that's why the apprentices don't have skills yet.

Anyway, I've been procrastinating on this thing for long enough, so here it is! Enjoy.

just some stuff i've drawn over the last week or so. mostly kitty cat busts because I'm kinda lazy tbh (/j)

image one is a character i got from Upsilon on TH. i have inserted them into one of my warriors fics but i might move them somewhere else. currently their name is duneleap, like sand dune, like beach.

second and third are the same character. as img 3 says, their name is unicorn. they don't really have any lore yet but that may change! they have a bf who i haven't designed yet named mon, after v723 monoceros, the star that accompanies the black hole unicorn is based on. i really like space

and the fourth image is of an old oc who i sometimes think about. his name is claude. normally he is very chill and positive, but that's boring, so i drew like, edgy symbolic art about his trauma. yay!

I saw that Flix might be getting redesigned and decided to do my rendition of what I'd want in a redesign! More under the cut ✦

Traits list (some are on the ref but I'll expand on them here):

I changed the palette quite a bit. I like the original black and gold, but it didn't give me space vibes, so I wanted the highlights to vary more in hue. That might be a controversial move, but I like it.

Keeping with the colour change, the blood and fire breath would probably be pink here.

The eyes are on the side of the head. This is inspired by seagulls, and sort of by their herbivory, although I would make Flix an omnivore (if not a carnivore) if I could. There aren't enough omnivores in CoS and I think it would be a better fit for Flix than herbivory.

They walk on their wings and feet like a pterosaur, just because it looks cool. Plus it makes them look a bit less like a different font of bird.

Their wings look more bat-like here. Ideally, they wouldn't; I'm just not good at replicating the canon wings. I wanted to emulate comet moth wings (because comet, like space) but I don't think I pulled it off. I could settle for feathered wings in a Flix redesign, but I have beef with feathered wings in spec evo because they're so unlikely to occur since they're such a derived structure. But CoS is already so unbelievably unrealistic that it's not even spec evo anymore, so whatever lol

The hindlegs are syndactyl, so they can perch! Their toes are also webbed, so they can actually swim! And maybe paddle around on the surface like ducks (wait that's cute... I might animate that).

They have claws on their wings. These would help with perching and perhaps climbing (like if they needed to climb a cliff instead of flying or something; maybe for stealth.

The back wings are attached to the hindleg. That's the case in the canon design too, but I bring it up here for clarity and also to add that I (and I assume the original designer) based this on microraptor's hind-wings. Microraptor beloved <333

I couldn't add them here as they'd obscure stuff even more, but I think there would be a couple more comet-shaped shards down the back. They would be floating particles, like the orbs that they keep adding to new creatures.

I gave them little star spots to make the black areas look like a night sky!

You can't see it due to the hind wings covering it, but the tail has the same gradient as the little danglies on the wings.

I just realised this version makes them look a bit like the Flickaflie, which people seem to already mix up with this guy anyway, so uh, oops. I think they're different enough.

If you have any thoughts to add to this, leave a comment! I'd love to discuss and I'm fine with criticism of this design. I might make a second rendition if I become unsatisfied enough with this. :3

Yesterday (maybe the day before) Hibiscus_Cove on TH just kind of. Gave me a character. And this is the character's new ref!

This one isn't quite as refined as my usual art because it wasn't supposed to be a full thing at first. By the time I decided to finish it up I was too far along to redo the lines lol. I still like it though.

One of the main design changes was adding more colours and patterns. I tried to stay true to the OG though, and I think it worked? I also gave them a bit of an outfit and I changed their species. They were originally just a dragon, but I've got a species I'm developing and I'm looking for more OCs to add to it, so yeah. This guy got hit by the species beam.

I made this little baby during AF, and I'm super proud of it, so yeah! At the time, I was trying to experiment with my art style (I still am, technically, but anyway). I still have yet to decide which parts to permanently incorporate into my art style, but I have some ideas.

This one took me 6 hours and 22 minutes, the second longest time of all the art trades I've done this year. I don't really know why it took that long. I guess I was just really slow at it.

It was an interesting challenge because I rarely work with really brightly coloured characters, so I had a bit of an experience trying to find a way to make it look a little less intense on the eyes.

I'm very happy with the background on this one. I installed the newest CSP update last night, which FINALLY added chromatic aberration and a variety of other useful features, and it really helped with this. Miko looks pretty cute here too. I think this looks kind of like a Warrior Cats book cover. Lol

I'm still experimenting with my art style, but I think I'm getting closer to something I like. Right now I'm trying to focus on lineart because I feel like my lines are pretty boring and I want to make my digital art look a bit more like the pen sketches I like to do. I didn't try very much to do that in this drawing, but I probably will in the future.

Lol I forgot to post this here. This is Mako, an old-ish OC of mine.

I'm trying to go through some of my old OCs and draw refs for them, and so far, this is the only one I've completed.

Mako originated in 2020 as a demo sona design. I never used her, but I liked her design enough for the concept to stick in my brain for the following three years. I did some redesign concepts for her last year and then promptly forgot about them until a couple of days ago when I noticed she was missing from my Toyhouse page. I decided to give her a ref, and here we are.

Her name comes from the Mako shark, but the shark aspects of her design are based on blacktip reef sharks and tiger sharks. The main inspo for this iteration of her design was how her old design looked a little like a sunset, or like musk sticks (if you don't know what musk sticks are, they're a pink Australian lolly. Look it up). Based on the sunset idea, I turned her into a surfer girl. Lol.

Night is such a cool character and drawing her was really fun! I haven't made any finished art in weeks so it's not my best, but it was still nice to make. I don't have much else to say lol

I've been assembling a backlog for my DA, and this is the third thing from it. Thought it'd be worth posting here, too. It's cover art for my main Spotify playlist. More under the cut.

The playlist is called jammin (lowercase j) and I made it at the end of 2022. For a while, it had no icon, until I made this in like, mid-2023. I don't know why I didn't post it to my DA earlier, other than for fear of people making fun of my music taste. I'm very self-conscious about this stuff. It's a miracle I'm even posting this

Featuring Maski Hart (an OC I've had for a few years now) and a strange ghost thing that may or may not be a friend. Time will tell.

I have another drawing of Maski on my DA, which has a tiny bit more lore in it, so I guess if you want more info, you could look there. The main idea here is that the ghost is suspicious but Maski hasn't figured that out yet.

Woo new Cosi ref!! Finally!

You Tumblians haven't seen Cat Cosi yet, I don't think, but they were a cat for a long time, and then they changed into a dragon just recently. But I didn't have a ref yet, so I made this. And I like it a lot. The fullbody looks good, and I'm proud of the background. I didn't want to highlight the notes with regular squares, because that's boring, so I added some little flourishes to all of them. It helps with the vibes. I wanted it to have the same feeling as a pine forest? Or at least, the taiga in Minecraft. And the swatches are alive!! They're a blue-tongued lizard, Cape Barren goose, kangaroo, koala, and quoll. And a leaf.

I've been working on this on and off for the last four days, so a lot of the original thoughts I had have died by now. I wanted to change the markings and colours more, but everything I tried looked bad, and I didn't really have any problems with the original anyway, so I just kept it.

To increase activity on this blog, I thought I'd post some WIPs. I make way more unfinished drawings than finished ones so there's a chance I'll never finish some of these.

Anyway, the first is a redesign of a sona I had in mid/late 2020, named Seppos (September Apos; Apos is short for Aposterous because I'm very good at naming things /s). She's supposed to be summer-themed.

Next is a concept for a creature to inhabit the world of a project I'm working on. These guys are omnivores who live in woodlands and grasslands. The design will probably change.

And finally, a commission for an irl friend (I don't take commissions currently, by the way; this one is from a while ago). Ft our cats, Remy (left) and Lev (right).

So yeah. I'm going on holiday until Wednesday so bye

Rambling under the cut

The character here is Firestar from Warriors. I'd tentatively recommend reading the books if you haven't read them, but I'm not confident people will like them as they have their problems. Although most of the problems show up after the books that feature Firestar. He's supposed to be a Somali cat here. There wasn't any reason for drawing him. I just default to cats with my art experiments because they're easy to draw. And I did a study last night and I wanted to put the stuff I remembered to good use.

I'm trying to experiment with art that mimics traditional art, specifically the doodles I like to draw in class and stuff. This was really my first attempt and I think it turned out good so yeah!

Also, this is my first art piece of the year! Well, the first finished one. The New Year's Redraw is coming... eventually... I'm not too fussed about that coming out on time because I'm not usually on time with them anyway. One of them took four months and another was just never finished because it looked so ugly. This year's version will hopefully turn out very good, but I'll have to see. Anyway. Thanks to all my followers and stuff, and here's to a good year. Maybe I'll even open commissions.

Welcome to my art, where I only draw refs for characters I never use. Today’s instalment is Void, a character who used to have a purpose (and might again someday), but is currently just a cool design I have.

As their latest lore goes, Void is the spirit of death. They don’t do any of the soul collecting, though. They’re more of a shepherd. They oversee an army of little grim reaper creatures who bring the souls back to the afterlife, where Void tends to them. Void’s gender is ambiguous because they never speak out loud, and they have no obvious physical traits to identify biological sex. They don’t care what people call them, so people just pick whatever works.

This character has sort of been slotted into an idea I had that, in a dream scenario, would be some kind of game. Imagine Creatures of Sonaria but the survival aspects are better. Of course, I lack the motivation and skill to make that idle dream a reality, so it’ll probably never happen. In this hypothetical game, Void would be an NPC that you can do missions for.

Anyway, I’d write more (is it weird to make descriptions long on Tumblr?) but it’s almost midnight and I’m. So tired. See you guys (all 18 of you, wow) tomorrow. If things go to plan, I’ll be posting again on Jan 1st because I do a yearly redraw on New Year’s Eve/Day. I’m excited to work on it. I feel like I’ve improved a lot with my scene art this year, and unless I get lazy I'll probably try to paint it so that might turn out cool. Ok bye
