Curate, connect, and discover
It was a stupid dare, but Midoriya wasn’t one to back down.
On an average Saturday, Midoriya and a couple of his close friends decided to hang out. Iida, Todoroki, Uraraka, Tsuyu, and Midoriya all made the group decision to have a nice picnic.
After preparing a bunch of snacks, grabbing drinks, and finding a nice but old blanket to use, the group headed outside. There was a giant field behind 1-A alliance where they set up their picnic.
They played card games, chatted about their classmates, and enjoyed all the snacks each person contributed. It was a beautiful day and despite the peaceful atmosphere, somehow truth or dare started.
After a couple rounds of silly/random questions and harmless dares, an interesting exchange occurred.
Uraraka smiled as she turned her entire body to Midoriya. “Deku! Truth or dare?”
“Dare!” shouted Midoriya excitedly, finding it exciting to finally play the game after spending countless years dreaming of having the friends to.
“I dare you… to wear a skirt our next time visiting the mall!” fired Uraraka eagerly after coming up with a dare.
Tsuyu perked up with a wide smile. “Good one Uraraka!”
“That’s highly inappropriate, Uraraka,” declared Iida loudly. Yet his face showed extreme amusement rather than any sternness to back up his criticism.
Todoroki looked Midoriya up and down before giving a thumbs up. “I’d like to see Midoriya in a skirt.”
Midoriya fell onto his back, covering his face in horror. “I can’t possibly do that! I’m going to be in the public eye! What if someone posts a picture or I get harassed!”
“Don’t whine, you big baby. You’ll be with us the entire time so no one’s going to harass you. Besides, when has someone ever recognized us when we go to the mall?” questioned Uraraka as she thinned her lips.
Tsuyu was still quietly laughing at Midoriya's reaction. “It doesn’t matter. The dare has been made and it doesn’t harm anyone.”
Midoriya threw his arms out to his sides as he cried to the sky. “I’m done with this game!”
“Yeah, we’ve been out here for hours now,” agreed Iida, looking up at the beautiful blue sky. “Besides, I promised to call my brother today.”
“Momo promised to cut my hair today so I should probably go and track her down,” huffed Uraraka, leaning back as she tightly gripped her knees.
Midoriya locked eyes with Todoroki before he smiled. “Want to go train?”
Todoroki returned the soft smile and nodded gently. “I’d like that.”
“I’m going to see if any of the girls want to go hit the onsen. I’m in desperate need of a spa day,” groaned Tsuyu as she rose to her feet and stretched her back.
Uraraka perked up with an excited smile. “Wait until Momo finishes my hair, and I’ll join you! I could definitely spend hours relaxing.”
Midoriya chuckled, cracking his knuckles before turning to Uraraka and Tsuyu. “That’s not a bad idea. I may take a trip after training.”
Iida chopped his hand after fixing his glasses instinctively. “I’ll join you Midoriya! Today’s all about relaxation.”
“I’m going too,” announced Todoroki as he situated himself next to Midoriya.
The group quickly cleaned up, headed off to do what they needed, and hit up the onsen. All the girls grouped together to enjoy the hot spring the school offered. Midoriya, Todoroki, and Iida met up as well and went to their respective onsen, letting the warm water soothe their sore muscles and wash away their stress.
Two weeks passed from that eventful hangout and Mina proposed the great idea of going shopping. It had been a while since UA had become a boarding school so many people had lists of things they needed and stuff they ran out of but hadn’t had time to get.
While going to the mall sounded wonderful to the majority of class 1-A, there was a small group who was enveloped in chaos. Midoriya looked mortified while Uraraka, Tsuyu, and Iida were all staring at him with a knowing smile. Todoroki didn’t recall the dare and seemed to be interested in spending a bunch of his father’s money.
Midoriya was dragged off by Uraraka to her room with Tsuyu right on the duo’s tails. As Midoriya was shoved onto Uraraka’s bed, the two ladies were digging through clothes only to find that there was nothing they specifically wanted Midoriya to wear.
Midoriya was still laying on the bed recovering from being dragged and tossed around as Tsuyu had pulled out her phone to make an important call.
“Tsuyu? What’s up?” inquired Momo softly from the other end of the call.
“I need your help finding a skirt that would look good on Midoriya,” answered Tsuyu bluntly, not bothering to give context upfront.
The group was met with silence. After fearing she scared off Momo, Tsuyu went to speak. Surprisingly, Momo beat Tsuyu to speak and perplexed, “Why do you need a skirt that Midoriya would look good in?”
Uraraka couldn’t hold back her laughter as she truthfully explained, “A couple weeks ago, we dared Midoriya to wear a skirt the next time we went to the mall. We were trying to find something for Midoriya to wear, but I have nothing that would work.”
“Oh, in that case I’ll be right over! I can just make something I think would complement Midoriya,” exclaimed Momo happily, more than willing to produce something specifically for Midoriya.
While Uraraka and Tsuyu were desperately thanking Momo for being willing to get involved in their problem, Midoriya was panicking. He couldn’t believe his friends were taking this seriously. He knew that clothes didn’t belong to one specific gender, but he wasn’t comfortable wearing a short skirt.
Midoriya struggled even wearing gym shorts out in public. On the rare occasions he did, it was in the warmer months for short trips or private workouts.
Despite Midoriya’s mind running a thousand miles a minute, Momo arrived at Uraraka's room and was quick to get Midoriya’s measurements. Uraraka and Tsuyu offered some design ideas, but Momo already knew what she wanted to make for Midoriya.
While Uraraka and Tsuyu cared about Midoriya, they were still his friends and wanted him to feel embarrassed. That was the point of the dare.
Momo wanted to assure Midoriya would be as comfortable as possible. She created a high-waisted skirt that flowed all the way down to rest right above his ankles. The skirt was flowy and in a light green color. The fabric was smooth, light, and silky. Still, she wanted to give Uraraka and Tsuyu their fun and added girly dark green flowers all over the bottom and gave the skirt a slit up to the knee on the left side.
The skirt was made in an instant and swiftly placed in Midoriya’s arms. Momo smiled softly as she instructed, “I’d wear that with a light yellow, almost cream-colored shirt!”
Midoriya shook his head with bright red cheeks. “I don’t own a shirt like that. I only own the stuff for my school uniform and graphic tees.”
Momo chuckled fondly at Midoriya before making him a light-yellow tee shirt. It wasn’t baggy like his usual shirts, but it wasn’t tight either. Nonetheless, Momo had worked her magic and made Midoriya a perfect outfit for the dare.
After quickly getting dressed once all the girls filed out of Uraraka’s room, Midoriya stared at himself in the mirror. He couldn’t deny that he did feel pretty. The longer he stared at himself, the more similarities he saw between him and his mother. It was nice.
Midoriya spun in a circle, watching as the dress twisted and flew with his sharp movements. He smoothed out the shirt and grinned at how well it complimented the skirt. The skirt covered enough of his body he was insecure about. Still, his leg muscles were curvy and were prominent against the silk fabric.
Midoriya quickly adjusted his black arm band over his large scar and smiled at the finished result. “Alright, you can come in.”
Uraraka, Tsuyu, and Momo quickly returned to the room only to loudly gasp at the sight before them. Crashing to her knees, Uraraka cried out. “Oh my god he’s beautiful!”
“You look really good Midoriya,” complimented Tsuyu calmly as she gently patted Uraraka’s head.
Momo smiled brightly, clapping her hands together. “It looks amazing on you just as I expected! I hope you like it a bit even if it is out of your comfort zone.”
Midoriya bowed aggressively before Momo. “I love it! Thank you so much for making this for me! You really didn’t have to, but you did anyway so I’m grateful!”
“Nonsense, its what friends do! Anyways, we should probably hurry up. I’m sure the others are already waiting for us,” reminded Momo, already halfway out the door.
Uraraka squeaked, throwing herself up. “You’re right! If you don’t mind, could you wait outside my room for a bit Deku?”
“I don’t mind at all!” reassured Midoriya as he followed out after Momo. Tsuyu was quick to follow Midoriya and headed off to her own room.
Standing in the hallway, Midoriya was left alone with his thoughts. Despite that large bit of his mind burning with embarrassment and dread of having to let his classmate see him in a skirt, there was a part of him that was scarily unbothered.
There had been many days where his scars bothered him more than they should have, but he was able to push past any insecurities he had. It seemed he felt the same way about the skirt.
Uraraka was ready in a matter of minutes and reunited with Midoriya in the hallway. Together they made their way down to the common room where everyone was gathering. All conversations quickly died as everyone's focus turned to Midoriya.
It was clear that everyone was expecting an explanation, but Midoriya got a last-minute idea to not address the elephant in the room. Instead of explaining he dared to wear a skirt, he made his way over to where Todoroki and Iida were with a smile.
“Hey guys!” greeted Midoriya happily.
Todoroki slowly blinked a couple of times before smiling. “Hello Midoriya. You look nice.”
Midoriya flashed Todoroki a bright smile, slipping his phone into one of the wonderful pockets Momo gifted him with. “Thank you! Are you ready to blow through some money?”
“Yes, I am. Do you have your list ready?” asked Todoroki quickly, flashing Enji’s credit card with an excitement that was rare to see on his usual stoic face.
“Of course I do, I have all the latest All Might merchandise in a neat list,” whooped Midoriya eagerly, doing his best to contain the true level of his excitement.
Iida fixed his glasses as he aggressively cleared his throat. “I have to admit, the skirt suits you well.”
Midoriya shot Iida with a strong thumb-up. “Thank you! Tsuyu called Momo for help.”
Kirishima, the first person brave enough to disrupt whatever staring contest the rest of the class was participating in, walked over to where the three were. “Woah Midoriya. Not that I'm complaining, but what’s with the skirt?”
“Oh, I was dared to wear one the next time I went to the mall by Uraraka,” revealed Midoriya bluntly, doing his best to not signal he was freaking out deep down.
Kirishima tried covering his red face, but Midoriya easily saw behind the facade. “You make me feel like a dude in the Victorian era seeing a woman’s ankle for the first time. It feels scandalous to see this.”
Midoriya’s face bloomed a beautiful shade of red at the oddly flattering and embarrassing comment. “Oh, uh… sorry?”
“I didn’t mean it like that! I mean I think you look really attractive in that!” shouted Kirishima, now being the one to capture the entire class's attention.
Kirishima and Midoriya were both crouching by the ground, covering their flushed faces. They were both ready to die of embarrassment. Midoriya peaked through his fingers to find Kirishima doing the exact same thing.
Having a single ounce of confidence to answer, Midoriya mumbled, “Thank you.”
Kaminari was more than happy to ruin the moment and shouted, “These bitches gay!”
“Glad to see you got the balls to confess Shitty Hair,” cackled Bakugo, thrilled to see the wonderful opportunity to embarrass Kirishima and Midoriya simultaneously.
It was safe to say that one single dare managed to create such a dramatic domino effect that Midoriya got a boyfriend. No one was complaining considering they got an entire day of Midoriya in a skirt and they were able to witness the bloom of a shocking relationship.
There was never a dull moment with class 1-A.
A/N: I wrote this in my universities library in between my exams. If the quality is bad blame my fried brain 😟🫵
Midoriya was a gem at UA High. No one really knew anything about the mysterious beauty that was best friends with Hatsume in the support department. Still, that never stopped people from blindly pursuing the teen. People were so ashamed when Midoriya rejected them that no one ever told their friends when they planned on confessing.
Countless people have been spotted slipping notes and talking with Midoriya in a quiet area. For some reason, it’s like an unspoken rule that being rejected by Midoriya is so humiliating that if anyone knew about it, it could send a person into a coma.
Class 1-A eventually caught drift of the mysterious beauty who was in the support department. Fortunately for them, they were given an opportunity to approach him without looking too weird. Aizawa, too lazy to deal with it himself, told his students to head to the department to discuss any modifications they needed for their hero costumes. For once, none of the students complained about his laziness.
“Oh, I’m so excited,” beamed Uraraka, happy to finally meet the boy who has the attention of the school.
“Me too. I think this will be a wonderful experience to get closer to the support department,” agreed Iida, unaware Uraraka was talking about meeting Midoriya.
Kirishima waved his hand with a smile. “I just want to meet this dude everyone seems to have a crush on!”
“Agreed dude! I feel like everyone in this school has tried to shoot their shot at Midoriya!” supported Kaminari, throwing his arms to the sky.
Mina looked over at Kirishima and Kaminari with an excited grin. “I bet he’s super sweet! That would explain why I haven’t heard anything bad about him!”
Uraraka nodded vigorously, clasping her hands behind her back. “It would be great to make another friend. I just hope he doesn’t blow us up like Hatsume does,” shivered Uraraka at all the memories of Hatsume’s gadgets exploding when she was around.
Bakugo rolled his eyes at his classmates. At the end of the day, they were a bunch of overly friendly idiots. Still, he was a bit curious to see Midoriya. Since he started UA High, he’d constantly heard about Midoriya, but never saw him
A part of Bakugo was left wondering how Midoriya felt. It must have been a jarring experience to go from being the laughingstock of Aldera Junior High to being the unachievable jewel of UA High. He knew that if he had been in Midoriya’s shoes, he’d kill anyone who asked him out. They were here to become heroes, not worry about pointless things like dating.
Taking the lead, Iida walked into the room. Hatsume happened to have a crush on Iida, so he was the best person to enter first. It seemed that Uraraka had already sacrificed Iida even if he hadn’t been willing.
“Iida!” cheered Hatsume, rushing over.
“Hello, Hatsume. I’m assuming Eraserhead has told you about us coming,” greeted Iida, bowing his head as he stepped in to let his classmates also enter.
Hatsume nodded with a bright grin. “Yeah, I got all hands on deck for class 1-A.”
Midoriya made his way over with a clipboard to where the class was waiting. “Mei, I finished up the blueprints to match your detailing.”
Hatsume grabbed the clipboard eagerly, flipping the pages. “Amazing work Izuku!” Seeming to realize that Midoriya hadn’t really interacted with the hero students in person, she started introductions. “Iida, have you met Midoriya yet?”
Iida was stunned, staring at Midoriya. He completely understood why everyone asked him out. Midoriya was gorgeous despite being arguably plain.
Short, but fluffy green curls with a mixture of black covered his head. His bangs were short and he had strips of hair by his cheeks that curled oh so perfectly. His eyelashes were long and helped shape his big round eyes. His cheeks were coated in freckles with four dark ones in the middle of both cheeks.
“No, I haven’t. It’s a pleasure to meet you Midoriya. I appreciate you putting up with us all year,” thanked Iida, bowing his head to show utmost respect. After all, the only reason they could be heroes is because of those in the support department.
Midoriya smiled charmingly at Iida before waving his hand. “No need to thank me. You hero students deserve the best gear so it’s our fault if it can’t handle the amount of work you’re required to put in.”
Iida grinned, feeling a bit relieved to hear they weren’t being blamed for damaging their gear. They were often reprimanded by their teachers for being reckless even though damage to their costumes should be expected. Nonetheless, Iida commented, “I never thought of it that way.”
“Well, start thinking of it that way now! It’s wonderful meeting you, Iida. I hope you see you around here more often,” chuckled Midoriya, happy to meet someone who wasn’t just interested in dating him. Besides, it was clear he liked Hatsume so he had nothing to worry about.
After introductions were carried out, Kirishima and Bakugo were assigned to Midoriya to gear repairs and upgrades. Uraraka and Mina shook their fist to the sky and cursed Kirishima and Bakugo. How come the good things in life never happened to them?
As Midoriya guided them to his workstation, they finally were able to get a good look at Midoriya. To the surprise of both Bakugo and Kirishima, Midoriya was muscular.
They assumed he was matching Hatume as he was wearing a black tank top. It showed off his developed arms and the outline of his abs could be seen because of the tight fabric. Anything lower was hidden by the baggy uniform. Midoriya had an All Might charm clipped onto one of the belt loops on his waist.
A pretty, red headband was tied loosely around Midoriya’s neck. Bakugo assumed it was to cover his nose and mouth when messing with the equipment. Kirishima on the other hand believed it was purely cosmetic. Midoriya seemed like the type of person to want to work in style.
Wanting to break the ice, Kirishima decided to use the only piece of information he knew about Midoriya. “Is it true you get asked out at least once a day?”
Not missing a beat, Midoriya smiled as he answered, “Not really, no,” as he pulled out his files on class 1-A’s hero suits.
“Wait, guys don’t ask you out?” asked Kirishima with wide eyes, feeling a bit betrayed by everyone who told him about the rumor. It wasn’t that he thought Midoriya was a disappointment after being told he wasn’t heavily sought after, but it seemed that everyone was in on a joke Midoriya wasn’t a part of.
A couple of seconds of painful silence passed. Midoriya licked his finger to begin flipping through the pages before smirking. Slowly raising his head to look at Kirishima, Midoriya clarified, “They do, I just don’t go.
The way those words effortlessly came out of Midoriya’s mouth with such confidence was perfect. Kirishima felt his face heat up and he quickly covered his face with both hands. “You are way too cool.”
While Kirishima was having the time of his life, Bakugo was watching in silence. It was nice to watch Midoriya being his true self without having to worry about being ridiculed. Besides, this was Midoriya’s territory and Bakugo refused to make the same mistake as he did in the past.
Choosing to keep his head down and mouth shut, Bakugo hoped Midoriya would continue to talk casually with Kirishima. He took it upon himself to distance himself from Midoriya, not wanting to bother him any more than he most likely already was.
“Thank you,” chuckled Midoriya as he found the sections about Bakugo and Kirishima in his files. What Midoriya was not about to tell the duo was that he’d already had this conversation a dozen times with all the people who tried flirting with him.
It was quiet for a moment. Kirishima was curious about who Midoriya was as a person, and it seemed that he had one question that would help him know what Midoriya valued. “Is there a reason why you haven’t accepted anyone's confession?”
Midoriya shrugged, putting the book down to look at Kirishima. “Not really. At first, I just wasn’t interested in the people that confessed and I wasn’t ready for a relationship. Now… I can’t trust that the person confessing wants to be with me or if they just want to see if they’ll be the lucky one who is picked.”
Sorrow overcame Kirishima, and he could not stop the frown from spreading on his face. He didn’t realize just how much this situation sucked for Midoriya. It never crossed his mind how Midoriya couldn’t trust that anyone truly loved him because asking out the mysterious support student became a trend.
“That sucks dude,” sighed Kirishima, rubbing his face.
Bakugo rolled his eyes. “Of course, all those stupid extras think it’s funny to play with someone’s feelings.”
“For real! It’s a shame,” agreed Kirishima, not noticing how Midoriya’s head shot up in Bakugo’s direction.
“You really shouldn’t call everyone extras, Kacchan. It leaves a bad impression,” teased Midoriya as he focused all his attention on Bakugo.
“Fuck that shit. I swear this entire school has always been testing our class’s patience, so I have no sympathy to spare. Now they’re treating you as a trophy which is fucking gross,” hissed Bakugo, crossing his arms as he let his overprotective side show shamelessly.
Midoriya let his smug grin slowly soften into a shy smile. He enjoyed having people stand up for him. While he enjoys the attention it brings him, he wishes the attention wasn’t simply objectifying him. He was more than a pretty face and a thing to win.
Kirishima’s jaw dropped. “Bakugo? You know Midoriya?”
Bakugo looked away from Midoriya and scoffed, “I’ve known this nerd since we were little brats.”
“Yeah, we just fell out of touch in middle school,” recalled Midoriya, trying to keep Bakugo from being a target of unwanted attention.
“That’s awesome! If you’ve survived knowing Bakugo this long, feel free to hang out with our class!” cheered Kirishima, ignoring the hissing of Bakugo’s quirk.
Midoriya was glowing as he accepted the offer. “That would be amazing! You all were awesome at the Sports Festival.”
As Midoriya turned all his attention to the suits, Bakugo felt comfortable enough to ask, “So, you still do all that analysis in your notebook?”
“Yeah!” answered Midoriya quickly, not bothering to look up from his stack of papers.
“Join one of our quirk training classes. You’ll be taking notes for the next week,” offered Bakugo, knowing his peers would appreciate a description of their quirk and ways to utilize and improve it.
Not only did Bakugo and Kirishima leave that room with the best model of their hero costume yet, but they also left with a new ally. They achieved becoming friends with the UA heartthrob and confirmed that he was a stunning and smart person.
It was safe to say class 1-A took Midoriya under their wing after he started hanging out with them. It also became a secret bet to see who Midoriya would end up dating. The highest bets were between Kirishima, Bakugo, and Todoroki.
Everyone lost. Midoriya ended up remaining single his entire time at UA High. He knew he was perfect and didn’t need anyone to prove it.
Mina was devilishly tapping her fingers together as she stared at Midoriya. “Sorry, but you lost the bet.”
“I didn’t even agree to the bet,” argued Midoriya nervously, not recalling Mina even stating it was a bet.
“Nonsense,” hushed Mina, rising from where she was sitting to grab her phone that was currently charging.
Midoriya groaned from where he was sitting. The sound caught the attention of Uraraka who was returning to the common room from filling up her water bottle. “Deku? What’s wrong?”
Midoriya looked up at Uraraka in despair. “It’s Mina.”
“What is she up to this time,” remarked Uraraka with an amused grin.
“She’s forcing me to do something because I lost a bet I never agreed to,” explained Midoriya weakly, sinking into the couch in despair. When it came to Mina, nothing could be done once she had an idea.
Uraraka nodded, sitting down next to Midoriya. “I’m sure it won’t be that bad. Besides, it’s not like she can force you to do anything outside the dorms.”
Relaxing a bit at the reminder it was storming outside, Midoriya took a sip out of his water bottle. “You’re right. It can’t be that bad right? She’ll probably force me to play a little prank on someone or something.”
“Probably, either that or she’ll make you do her homework,” laughed Uraraka, recalling how Mina once tried getting Momo to do her work but was forced to have a tutoring session instead.
Mina rushed back in with her phone and a bright smile. “I want you to recreate this!”
Midoriya raised a brow, letting Mina squish onto the couch with him and Uraraka. Mina had a video pulled up and it was some guy standing in heavy rain strutting, doing air splits, and backflips over music.
Uraraka couldn’t hold back her laugh. Mina immediately proved the both of them wrong when they assumed the dare would be her usual silly antics.
“I can’t do that! I’m going to fall! Besides, if anyone sees me out there-!” argued Midoriya in a panic, trying to do whatever it took to get out of this.
Mina shook her head and pressed a finger against Midoriya’s lips to silence him. “Nope. Look, I’ll be nice, and I won’t force you to wear the big fluffy coat and ripped jeans.”
Midoriya sighed in defeat, not seeing much harm in the dare when no lightning was outside. The only risk was him getting sick and he decided to set down some conditions of his own.
“Have a towel and warm tea prepared for me. If I end up getting sick you owe me katsudon until I’m recovered,” ordered Midoriya, willing to do the dare, but wanting to have some say in what happened.
Mina extended her deal with a wide smile. “Deal! Uraraka, would you be an angel and grab that stuff? I’m going to go out to record this!”
Midoriya wilted, forgetting that Mina loved having everything on her phone. He couldn’t blame her though, some of these simple funny moments were nice to look back on when things got rough. Uraraka smirked and threw herself up. “Fine, but I’m going to need that video for myself.”
Kirishima was curious about what was going on and approached Uraraka. “Hey, where are Mina and Midoriya heading off to?”
Uraraka crossed her arms with a grin. “Mina is forcing Midoriya to recreate some video out in the storm.”
“No way! I gotta see this!” laughed Kirishima, immediately pulling out his phone and texting one of his multiple group chats. He sent the quick message “Come down to the common room immediately, it's important,” to Kaminari, Sero, Bakugo, and Jiro.
Kaminari and Sero came down along with Sato, Ojiro, and Tokoyami. Jiro came down with Momo and Hagakure, and Bakugo came down alone. It seemed that Bakugo thought it was something serious because he practically exploded when he saw the rest of the class wasn’t there.
“What the hell Shitty Hair?” shouted Bakugo, immediately sending off some small explosions.
“Woah man, calm down! Everyone, follow me to the window!” instructed Kirishima, not trying to set Bakugo off even more.
It only took seconds for the group to understand why Kirishima told them to come down urgently. Mina and Midoriya were standing in the open field as rain was crashing down. Mina had her phone held up while Midoriya was doing mind-boggling flips toward her.
While Midoriya could do a perfect split, he had trained kicking enough that he could fake it. If he did an air split fast enough, no one would be able to tell his left leg didn’t perfectly come up all the way. When Midoriya reached Mina he managed to land his last flip without falling and went straight into a backflip.
Once Midoriya stuck the landing of his back flip he took in a quick breath, jumped into the air and shot his legs out, faking the split like a pro.
Mina collapsed to the ground, cackling. Midoriya crossed his arms and looked up at the sky that was dark and pouring down rain. Midoriya then looked down at Mina, said something, and suddenly Mina was sprinting back toward the dorm building.
Uraraka was already standing by the door with towels and warm tea waiting for them in the kitchen. Mina launched herself inside, the rain covering her face and mixing with her tears. “My phone!”
“Yeah, that’s my bad,” chuckled Midoriya, knowing that they had to retake the dance at least ten times before he got it right.
Walking further into the dorm, planning on going to the kitchen, the two froze when they saw the large group standing near the windows. Only the group was staring at them in disbelief and glee.
Midoriya bolted off before anyone could even ask him where he learned how to do any of that. Mina on the other hand didn’t stick around because she had to make sure her phone was okay. She couldn’t lose the video after just getting it!
Midoriya was fresh out of the shower when he texted Uraraka that he was sorry for not sticking around for the tea she made him. It seemed that Uraraka didn’t mind too much, even going as far as to say she’d reheat it and send someone up to deliver it to him.
Feeling bad and not wanting her to go out of her way to do something she didn’t have to, Midoriya frantically typed it wasn’t necessary and it was no big deal. A knock interrupted Midoriya’s guilt as he stared at the typing bubble from Uraraka. Rising from where he was sitting, Midoriya approached his door and pulled it open.
Bakugo stood in the doorway with a wide smirk. “So Izuku. Care to explain?”
Midoriya yelped, backing into his room. “Kacchan! What are you doing here?”
“Pink Cheeks. Now, tell me why you were out there performing like a goddamn acrobat,” demanded Bakugo, inviting himself in with two cups of tea.
“It’s really not as interesting as you may think. Mina told me I lost a bet and she dared me to recreate a video,” elaborate Midoriya swiftly, not wanting to beat around the bush when it came to Bakugo.
“Go figure. Why do you always manage to get wrapped up in her dumb schemes,” grumbled Bakugo, crashing onto Midoriya's bed.
Midoriya smiled a bit, looking at his desk where Bakugo managed to put down the tea without him noticing. “If I knew how, I wouldn't have been out there.”
Bakugo scoffed, staring at Midoriya where he was standing. “Where the hell did you learn how to do a split?”
“I can’t really do a split, but after using my legs so much I guess I got more flexible,” assumed Midoriya. He didn’t know how he managed to get so limber. He did his usual stretches to avoid injuries but didn’t go out of his way to work on flexibility.
“It sure as hell looked like a split to me,” argued Bakugo. It didn’t take a genius to see a true split.
Midoriya smiled, sitting next to Bakugo on the bed. “When the rain clears up we can head to the gym and see for sure.”
“Alright, just don’t cry when you find out I’m right,” professed Bakugo confidently, making a home on Midoriya’s bed.
“You’re an idiot,” laughed Midoriya, finally lying down next to Bakugo.
“Shut up!”
Confidence was one hell of a drug. Izuku Midoriya was used to helplessly hoping for a brighter future even though he never had the confidence to back up his desire. Suddenly he had the body he had always dreamed of having, met his idol, gained a quirk, got into his dream school, and had more friends than he could count with his fingers.
It was safe to say Midoriya gained confidence. Where he’d usually stay on the sidelines and try to make himself as small as possible, he was now running face-first into the limelight. There was something exhilarating about showing off his abilities as a hero and how he was the best at what he did.
His ex-bully, Katsuki Bakugo, tried to break down Midoriya’s confidence in the beginning. It was only a matter of time until he realized just how much he liked seeing Midoriya all confident and empowered. It took some time to get used to, but Bakugo was quick to learn from his mistakes and atone for them.
For the young heroes in training, their third year came around before class 3-A could comprehend how fast time was passing. Midoriya, Bakugo, and Todoroki were the notorious big three. It only made sense after they fought the most dangerous villains in the war.
Midoriya didn’t realize how great it could feel to be on top. He was already a villain magnet before they figured out his quirk, so not much was going to change.
Imagine Midoriya’s shock when some random, first year, hero-in-training nobody tried starting a feud with him. Of course, it was all one-sided.
Uraraka, Midoriya, and Bakugo were having their weekly spa day when Mina rushed in holding her phone. “Oh my god! Guys, you gotta read this!”
Midoriya sat up, removing his head from Uraraka’s lap. Midoriya’s face was only half-done and Uraraka was holding a container of clay face mask.
Bakugo was already finished, his spiky bangs held back with an Edge Shot-themed headband. Bakugo rolled his eyes, not thrilled that their quiet time was interrupted.
“What’s up, Mina?” questioned Midoriya, slightly worried by Mina’s tone.
“Some random first-year at Ketsubutsu Academy was attacking you online!” revealed Mina in anger, not appreciating some random person trying to defame Midoriya.
Bakugo and Uraraka’s attention was captured, heads snapping to watch Midoriya’s reaction to see if they needed to attack this fool. Midoriya was frozen momentarily, considering how he wanted to respond to this news. Knowing this first-year was already going to be reprimanded by a majority of Japan, he didn’t worry too much. He did defeat Shigaraki on live television after all. Picking a fight with the person who saved the world is a stupid move.
Throwing an apple slice into his mouth, Midoriya shrugged. “Eagles don’t fly with chickens.”
Uraraka and Bakugo’s heads snapped away from Midoriya to each other. While they knew Midoriya could get sassy, they didn’t realize he was capable of throwing out insults that would put a chronically-online jerk to shame.
“You are so right about that Midoriya. They said that your quirk wasn’t even that good because of your scars. They said something about them making you look old,” groaned Mina, not bothering to read the post out loud to Midoriya.
“What? I’m so timeless and sexy though!” gasped Midoriya, well aware he was anything but sexy at the moment. He had on an AllMight headband, a hot-sauce-stained tee shirt, and a pair of Bakugo’s old baggy sweatpants.
Bakugo smirked, looking at Midoriya. “Damn right Izuku!”
Uraraka laughed to herself, happy to be surrounded by people who would never let something so childish get to them. It gave her the courage to take every insult or unsolicited comment and return it with nothing but the brutal truth. She felt a sense of ease around them and knew that they felt the same way with her.
“When did you get so sassy Deku?” questioned Uraraka, amused by this sudden wave of iconic clap-backs.
“After dealing with the past users of One for All for so long, you learn to return their energy,” revealed Midoriya, remaining vague about the reason why he’s sassy with them.
Bakugo didn’t say anything as he got up from his seat and joined Uraraka and Midoriya on the carpet. “This little shit had been acting all innocent around you and the rest of our class, but he’s a brat as soon as he’s alone with me.”
Midoriya feigned hurt, not enjoying this personal attack. “How dare you make these accusations about me Kacchan?”
“Accuse? No, I’m exposing you,” corrected Bakugo, his smirk wide and threatening.
“Sorry Deku, but I’m with Bakugo on this one,” chuckled Uraraka, more than happy to fluster Midoriya for no specific reason.
In response Midoriya huffed and began messing with his hair. Mina was holding back laughter, secretly recording the entire exchange. “What are you doing?”
Midoriya looked over to Mina with an oddly calm expression, “Huh? Oh, I’m just pulling out the grey hairs this experience has given me.”
Mina could no longer contain her laughter, loving how witty Midoriya truly was. It seemed the Uraraka was on the same boat and fell into laughter as well. Bakugo smiled, looking at Midoriya before sneak attacking him and giving him a noogie.
After the four calmed down, Mina seemed to remember her whole point of coming in. “Are you going to do anything about it?”
Bakugo cracked his knuckles. “Well, I’m going to blast that extra into outer space for taking shit about Izuku like that. The idiot wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for him saving the fucking world.”
Midoriya smiled, letting his hand rest on Bakugo’s back to feel his heartbeat. “No need. I’m not going to do anything. Me ignoring him is letting him know that he is irrelevant to me. Giving him attention would only give him power.”
“Yeah, and I don’t think we have to worry about teaching him a lesson. Midoriya is too popular for his fans to not attack this guy,” reminded Uraraka, aware of how crazy some of Midoriya’s fans could be.
Midoriya grinned, looking at his hands in thought before looking over to the three. “I want to see if I can convince Nezu to bring his class over to train. That way I can make an appearance. I know the moment he spots me he’ll start to panic.”
Bakugo nodded, meeting Midoriya’s gaze. “All bark, no bite.”
“Just like you,” commented Midoriya with sly wit.
In an instant, Bakugo was after Midoriya. Explosions filling the room. Spa day was ruined.
There were the random moments where Midoriya was confrontational. He wasn’t necessarily trying to push anyone into a corner or be an asshole, but his mouth would run faster than his brain.
Many days Midoriya functioned on auto-pilot. It was just how things were when exams were coming up and training difficulty increased at the same rate. The majority of class 1-A never picked up on Midoriya’s “confrontations” as they were so quick and mindless.
Uraraka and Todoroki were the two people who experienced them the most but took it as constructive criticism or a gentle correction. Midoriya was known to be helpful and was one of the smartest people in class.
It was a lazy Sunday in the 1-A alliance. Saturday was full of studying and exams so it was safe to say everyone was enjoying their weekend. Midoriya on the other hand was sleep-deprived as he trained for three hours extra once classes ended.
Lunchtime crept up and Momo walked into the common room holding up some packages of food. She and Tokoyami were going to prepare the food for lunch. “Who all wants pork in their hot pot?”
Before anyone could say anything, Aoyama perked up. “No thanks, I’m vegan!”
It seemed that no one really paid much attention to what he said except for Momo and Tokoyami.
Midoriya had been lying on the couch, aggressively typing on his phone. It had been a couple of days since he’d been on his All Might fan account and needed to fend off the anti’s.
The moment Aoyama said he was vegan, Midoriya’s mind quickly recalled the traumatizing experience of Aoyama shoving cheese in his mouth.
Shooting up from his seat and pointing a finger, Midoriya rebutted. “You had a cheeseburger from McDonald’s last night!”
The entire room when silent as they watched Midoriya confront Aoyama with the most un-present gaze. Midoriya’s head and eyes were trained in Aoyama’s direction, but he appeared to be looking through Aoyama.
Aoyama couldn’t even react to what he was hearing before Midoriya fired off again. “And you have a gallon of milk in the fridge with your name on it.”
Aoyama’s mouth fell open in offense, unable to do anything but get exposed for lying about going vegan in front of the majority of his class.
Kaminari was watching in amazement with an open-mouthed smile, recording the entire event. Kirishima’s jaw was touching the floor, never expecting Midoriya to be so blunt with Aoyama. Meanwhile, Mina was covering her mouth and falling on Hagakure who was also suppressing her laughter. The sight before them was too good.
Uraraka and Iida were watching with wide eyes as their gut was sinking. They were extremely impressed with how Midoriya was calling out Aoyama’s new stunt, but they were extremely concerned.
Todoroki was on the same page as the duo but didn’t show it. He was mainly worried something was upsetting Midoriya to the point he snapped at someone he was usually friendly to.
Bakugo on the other hand was doing his best to not make any noise as he tried to stop choking on water. Never once in his life had he seen Midoriya act like that. Part of him was way too entertained to be uneasy or concerned about others seeing his reaction.
Momo and Tokoyami on the other hand were frozen in fear. They didn’t want to get involved in whatever was happening with Midoriya and Aoyama.
Midoriya wasn’t finished and quickly sent a final blow. “And you had eggs with mozzarella cheese for breakfast!”
Aoyama had a hand to his chest like he’d be physically wounded before letting out an awkward noise, “euh!” that was the mixture between a gasp and scoff.
Aoyama’s face scrunched up as if he was trying to make Midoriya explode as he was dying from embarrassment. Suddenly he jolted backward with a gasp as he stared at Midoriya, waiting for more or someone to come to his defense.
As the group turned their attention back to Midoriya to see what he was doing, he was busy typing on his phone aggressively. Sure, he heard Aoyama lie and quickly called him out for lying, but he had more important matters to attend to.
An Endeavor fan just responded to Midoriya’s recent post and was trying to spread misinformation. All Might’s reputation would never be tarnished on Midoriya’s watch. If the account decides to try and spin lies again, Midoriya may just have to doxx the account user.
Aoyama deflated when he was Midoriya was already unengaged. “I’ll have pork in my hot pot.”
Momo and Tokoyami booked it out of the room as soon as they got a response from everyone. They were more than happy to make hotpot if that meant they didn’t have to address whatever that scene was.
Todoroki peeked over Midoriya’s shoulder to see what he was typing. Catching up to speed, Todoroki’s concerns diminished. Midoriya was in a heated battle with an Endeavor fan who was an All Might anti.
“Mention how he put my mother into a mental hospital, that will get them,” offered Todoroki, leaning his head on Midoriya’s shoulder.
Midoriya nodded as a smile appeared on his face. “Perfect idea Todoroki-kun.”
Uraraka and Iida shivered, very distraught by the entire situation.
Uraraka sighed, “We are going to need an intervention.”
“We may need more than that,” claimed Iida wearily, not prepared for whatever is going on with Midoriya.
Kaminari and Mina were busy cracking up at the fact that Midoriya was secretly a menace. Who would have thought their super smart and nice classmate would have a dark side?
Bakugo on the other hand knew he’d never let Midoriya live this down. Midoriya tore into Aoyama for lying about being vegan. What a lame way to finally be abrasive.
It was safe to say Aoyama was scared of Midoriya for a week.
Midoriya had joined the girls on their biweekly spa day. Midoriya really appreciated the massages and pampering that came with self-care. Midoriya’s body had recently been aching and he needed a little boost.
While Midoriya was getting a manicure, the lady questioned him on his beat-up hands. Midoriya rambled about how he got all those scars and why his fingers were permanently crooked. The woman gasped while trimming his cuticles.
Midoriya made a mental note that the edge of his nails was sharp. He enjoyed how they were just as smooth as they were sharp. The ladies all showed off what they had done to their nails.
The morning following their day out, Midoriya was talking with them before lunch. The guys stuck nearby, curious about what Midoriya was doing with the girls.
“Oh, do I have a story for you,” announced Midoriya dramatically.
The group focused their attention on him, beyond curious. It wasn’t often Midoriya wanted to share something, he was usually a listener. They were beyond excited.
“So I’m washing my ass… and I’m washing it very fast,” revealed Midoriya, being very blunt about the situation.
Hagakure and Jiro would barely contain their laughter. It caught them so off guard, they had to fight for their life to hold back. Mina and Momo were very invested, needing to know where this ass-washing was going. Uraraka and Tsuyu were relieved to hear Midoriya washed his ass, unlike some guys. Sometimes they worried for their friend's sanity with how little he takes care of himself.
Meanwhile, all the guys listened with dropped jaws. They couldn’t believe Midoriya was talking about washing his ass in front of the girls. That wasn’t something casual that Midoriya should talk about like it was a normal Tuesday.
“And since I just got them done yesterday and they were smooth but sharp…,” Midoriya took a moment of silence.
The girls already knew what was coming.
“Do you know that I stabbed my asshole,” announced Midoriya, immediately looking away in shame that he literally cut his butt because he was in a rush.
Mina clapped her hands and nodded. “Welcome to the club.”
“Happens to the best of us,” sighed Jiro, unable to stop her laughter.
Meanwhile, Bakugo was beyond amused, having to hold himself back from making fun of Midoriya. Todoroki was a bit too innocent and wanted to know how it was possible for his nail to stab his asshole. Kaminari and Kirishima had to excuse themselves, unable to hold back laughter.
It wasn’t until the next day that Midoriya found out some of the guys overheard. Todoroki walked right up to Midoriya and dropped the question.
“How’s your butthole?”
Midoriya was mortified while anyone else around was now paying full attention to the duo.
“What?” screeched Midoriya, unable to hide his fear.
“You’re butthole? You stabbed it the other day, right? I was wondering if you are doing okay,” replied Todoroki, genuinely concerned for his friend.
Midoriya’s hands moved so fast to cover his face you could hear the smack. “Oh, my god. You heard that.”
Todoroki nodded, pointing his thumb behind him. “Bakugo, Kirishima, and Kaminari were also there.”
Bakugo nearly choked on his breakfast and was visibly angry Todoroki snitched on him. “Hey! Don’t drag me into this!”
“Kacchan! You heard too?” Midoriya was on the verge of barricading himself in his dorm room for the rest of his life.
“Unwillingly,” lied Bakugo, trying to save himself however he could.
Kaminari shook his head. “Don’t lie! You were eavesdropping like the rest of us!”
Bakugo sent off some explosions. “You’re dead Dunce Face.”
Midoriya was already passed out on the ground by the time all the boys stopped fighting. And yes, he has a scar.
