I was thinking about how we’re all treating 2025 like it’s a magic spell, like flipping the calendar will fix everything. It reminded me of an old story about a farmer on the border between Russia and Poland. For years he didn’t know which country his land belonged to and when he finally found out it was Poland he celebrated no more brutal Russian winters. But the winters didn’t care about borders. The snow kept coming same as always and it’s the same with a new year. My family in Gaza doesn’t get a break just because the calendar changes. The hardships continue and so does the unbearable weight of not knowing. Two of my cousins were taken by the IDF a week ago, and we still don’t know where they are. Not knowing is unbearable. But even in the toughest winters people like you bring light. Every donation, every share of our story, every kind word has made the impossible feel possible. Because of you we’ve survived. My name is Shada Kassab, and I am a 24-year-old mother living in Gaza. Every day is a fight for survival for me, my husband Hussein, and our baby boy Adam, who is just five months old.
Our lives have been turned upside down by war. My home has been reduced to rubble, and my husband lost his water truck, which was our only source of income. We’ve been forced to evacuate twice—from Deir el Balah to the Nuseirat camp—and now, we live in constant fear of what the future holds.

Sick Mother and Children Trapped in Gaza – Rebuilding Our Home and Memories
With heavy hearts and hope, we reach out to you for help to support my sick mother and family in Gaza. We are living through the worst days of our lives in displacement camps in Deir al-Balah, having been displaced four times in a row. My mother suffers from asthma and urgently needs treatment, while our living conditions continue to worsen.

The Occupation has systematically destroyed every social infrastructure that makes civil society possible, whether it be healthcare, food systems, or education. They've targeted schools, hospitals, businesses, and every person who supports their community through their profession.
Rana and Ahmed (@ranafam2) are educators from Khan Younis, with Rana as a statistics professor at the Islamic University of Gaza and Ahmed as the principal of his school: both institutions have now been destroyed.
Palestinians have survived occupation for well over a century now, and they will remain steadfast, but they need your support.
Even with the ceasefire, resources are still limited and expensive. The weekly allowance for basic provisions like baby formula and flour is about $1000. Rana is also anticipating additional costs for baby formula, clothes, and natal care as she's eight months pregnant and expecting soon.
Finally with the ceasefire, Rana is hoping to evacuate with her family altogether. The cost of evacuation per person ranges from $5000 to $7000. If Rana gives birth before she can evacuate, that puts the total anticipated cost at $49,000 (5 children, 2 adults).

For Rana Abdul-Jawad, a wife and mother of four from Gaza, this is her heartbreaking reality. Her beautiful home, once a haven of joy, was destroyed, leaving her and her children in a torn and worn-out tent. They now face the unrelenting cold of winter with no warm clothes, no covers, and no reprieve. Her children shiver through each moment, vulnerable to illness from the freezing temperatures, and struggle to survive the harsh conditions.
Recently, the winter rain storms have flooded their fragile tent, soaking everything inside. Rana has spent entire nights desperately trying to stabilize it against the wind and rain, fearing it might collapse entirely. Despite her efforts, the tent cannot properly shield her family from the bitter cold or the relentless rain.

My name is Hanan. I am a divorced woman from war-torn Gaza, and I care for my chronically ill brother, Jihad, along with his family—his wife, Ola, and their son, Yousef.
Jihad's story is one of deep sadness and grief. He suffers from multiple illnesses, including hypertension, diabetes, celiac disease, kidney failure, and osteoporosis. Due to complications, he has lost his eyesight and both legs have been broken.
The ongoing conflict has only intensified the suffering for Jihad and his family. Their home was destroyed, forcing them to flee in search of safety, and they now live in a tent. Jihad requires specialized treatment and nutrition that are not available in Gaza.

I am Hiba Khader, a mother of three children, now living with my sons in Gaza.
You know the situation in Gaza, for more than a year we suffer every minute we live.
I had a beautiful life, but the war destroyed everything, destroyed my dreams, I lost my job, my whole house was turned into rubble and our car became a wreck.
I suffered the horrors of war every day in Gaza, we were struck by fear, terror, cold, and severe hunger, and my children were afflicted with diseases due to epidemics.
Food is very expensive, and if we find it, we do not have the money to buy it, and the same applies to medicine.
I sleep at night crying because my children go to bed hungry and I cannot feed them.
I search every day for a piece of bread for my children so that we can stay alive, and I rarely get help.
I live in a poor tent made of cloth that does not protect from the heat of the sun during the day, the cold of the night, or the rain of winter.
I move and flee from one place to another to escape danger, but danger is everywhere.
I wish this war would end while we are alive so we can live in safety and have a home where we can forget the painful suffering of war and bring a smile back to my children's faces and create for them a life they deserve. Please 🙏 help us survive so we can live a better life ❤️.

But everything has changed. I have endured five wars, but this one is unlike any other. This war has taken everything and reshaped our lives.Our home, which was once a safe haven for our family, is now nothing but rubble. In the blink of an eye, we lost everything—our memories, our dreams, and our sense of safety. We were forced to flee to the southern part of Gaza, but even here, there is no peace. My school is now a small tent shared with other children. There is no warmth, no protection from the cold, and no hope for a better tomorrow.My little sister, Farah, who should be laughing and playing like any other child, is living a nightmare. Since the war began, she has lost her home, her toys, and her innocence. She sleeps on the cold ground, waking up every day to the terrifying sounds of bombings, wondering if she will survive another day. Her eyes are filled with fear, and she often asks me, "Will we make it through the night?"Farah is always hungry. The little food we have barely fills our stomachs. Her frail body grows weaker from illness, but there are no medicines or enough doctors here to help. Her only dream is to feel safe again, to have enough food, and to live a childhood free of fear and pain.As for me, I do everything I can to stay strong for her and for our family. We lost our mother, who was once the heart of our home—she was injured in a bombing and is now unable to move. Our father, who used to work tirelessly to provide for us, can no longer work. We lived a relatively stable life in Gaza prior to October 7 th, 2023. Since then, we have been displaced multiple times. We left our home, our belongings, our life and dreams. We finally ended up in a tent after moving in multiple unsafe homes. My children as a result, are suffering from malnutrition, inability to sleep and fear of bombing and explosions all around us.
We are in a continuous state of unrest and it's taking a toll on us physically, mentally and emotionally.

every time I was displaced to another place I prayed that this would be the last, but then came the idea of forced exit to search for safety where there is no safety, we got very tired and our bodies were exhausted, we no longer had the energy to continue, we lived hunger, thirst, cold and all the difficult conditions that humans cannot imagine,
we did not imagine that a day would come when we would live all of this, I lost my family and my childhood home, even my friends are no longer there, I was left alone!! I am looking for salvation from death, I fear death and I dread it, the idea is terrifying to leave your dreams, ambitions and the life you planned for and go from this world, we do not deny death but we do not want to live it now,
I had a beautiful life, suddenly I do not know how I lost my life, we live in a tent that can only accommodate 3 people, made of nylon that no human can bear, just standing in it for more than two minutes during the day is enough to melt you, in addition to insects, diseases and lack of privacy, imagine all this!!
