there's something very scary about the way we argue and entertain discourse on israel or on settler colonialism when, on the ground, israel has totally isolated northern gaza and is currently systemically liquidating jabalia (a refugee camp in northern gaza) just as they have, from the very beginning, said they would do. just as large swathes of israel came to be in 1948, to 1967, to the west bank today. there's something scary about watching indigenous people undergo a genocide in real-time in 2024 like they're squatters on some prime property while nobody moves except to argue about semantics. there's something scary about people being trapped and killed like fish in a barrel while you can text them and follow them on social media and watch their pleas in video as soldiers and tanks come closer. what the hell is this

Mena's whole life has been dedicated to helping the people around her. It is now our turn to show Mena the unconditional love and support that she has shown to anybody lucky enough to cross her path. ❤️
The university contacted her a couple days ago, letting her know that she will have to pay the fees she's incurred for the online courses she's dedicated herself to during the war; studying as her childhood home was shelled and destroyed along with all of her and her family's things and lifetime of saved funds, memorizing her work as bombs dropped on her university, crumpling it to stone and dust.

speaking to you with a heavy and painful heart. I am sorry that I had to ask for help from you, but what we are living is what pushed me to do this. I was living a beautiful, quiet life, enjoying the time I spend with my grandchildren and seven daughters.
Imagine waking up to find that your world has changed in a moment, and you have lost your security and peace, and your home has been destroyed, and you have become homeless and living in conditions that no human being can bear. I suffer from chronic diseases, high blood pressure and diabetes. My medication has run out for some time and I am facing difficulty in obtaining it in light of the lack of treatment in hospitals and health centers. Most of the time I cannot feel my limbs, but I am trying to resist. I do not want to die in such circumstances. I still have hope that this war will end and we will rebuild our beautiful and beloved country again and live in safety. I believe in divine power and justice and that all this pain will go away.
I am trying to endure these difficult conditions that I live in inside a small tent and a bathroom a few meters away from my tent and you know the conditions of diabetics in this case but once again there is still hope. I used to live at the expense of my daughters but with all sadness and regret they have all lost their homes and places of work and they have no source of income left and their situation is like that of any Gazan who is still inside Gaza struggling with death, hunger, diseases and extreme heat each one struggling to feed his children I cannot ask them for help so I have resorted to you and I am fully confident in your humanity to help me so that I can provide food and treatment and provide a better tent than the one I live in because it is torn and the place is full of insects. If I can provide treatment, I want to continue my life and see my grandchildren grow up around me. I don’t want to go now. I know that I don’t have as much life left as I have, but I have the right to live and enjoy this. Please don’t hesitate to help your mother who has come to you with a heavy and sad heart. I moved from the hospital immediately after giving birth to the tent in which we were staying after we were displaced to it after the Israeli bulldozers completely bulldozed my house. and my suffering did not start from here. Rather, it began since the beginning of the war, and I am still suffering. I cannot provide enough milk for my baby or diapers. Even medicines and vitamins are not available.

I was thinking about how we’re all treating 2025 like it’s a magic spell, like flipping the calendar will fix everything. It reminded me of an old story about a farmer on the border between Russia and Poland. For years he didn’t know which country his land belonged to and when he finally found out it was Poland he celebrated no more brutal Russian winters. But the winters didn’t care about borders. The snow kept coming same as always and it’s the same with a new year. My family in Gaza doesn’t get a break just because the calendar changes. The hardships continue and so does the unbearable weight of not knowing. Two of my cousins were taken by the IDF a week ago, and we still don’t know where they are. Not knowing is unbearable. But even in the toughest winters people like you bring light. Every donation, every share of our story, every kind word has made the impossible feel possible. Because of you we’ve survived. I am Hanaa, a resident of Gaza City, specifically in the northern Gaza Strip. I am 38 years old. I live with my eight children and my husband in the Gaza Strip. Before the war on Gaza began, I was living a happy life with my children and my husband. We had a monthly income that was sufficient to meet our needs and fulfill our requests. When the war on Gaza began on 10/7/2023, we lived as homeless people after our entire house was bombed at the beginning of the war. We were displaced to countless areas since the first day of the war. After more than 200 days of the war, one of my sons was martyred and two others were injured while trying to find us food to satisfy our hunger. I became fully responsible for him after my eldest son was martyred and the other two were seriously injured. My children, my husband and I live in displacement camps. We have no other shelter. 🚨 Help Save Shada’s Family and Baby Adam! 🚨
My name is Shada Kassab, and I am a 24-year-old mother living in Gaza. Every day is a fight for survival for me, my husband Hussein, and our baby boy Adam, who is just five months old.
Our lives have been turned upside down by war. My home has been reduced to rubble, and my husband lost his water truck, which was our only source of income. We’ve been forced to evacuate twice—from Deir el Balah to the Nuseirat camp—and now, we live in constant fear of what the future holds.
To make matters worse, Adam was born with clubfoot and urgently needs surgery. The cost for his treatment and specialized medical boots is at least $3000, but this surgery isn’t even possible in Gaza.
I recently graduated as a nurse, and I dream of building a better life for my family. But to do that, we must leave Gaza and start over in safety.

The Occupation has systematically destroyed every social infrastructure that makes civil society possible, whether it be healthcare, food systems, or education. They've targeted schools, hospitals, businesses, and every person who supports their community through their profession.
Rana and Ahmed (@ranafam2) are educators from Khan Younis, with Rana as a statistics professor at the Islamic University of Gaza and Ahmed as the principal of his school: both institutions have now been destroyed.
Palestinians have survived occupation for well over a century now, and they will remain steadfast, but they need your support.
Even with the ceasefire, resources are still limited and expensive. The weekly allowance for basic provisions like baby formula and flour is about $1000. Rana is also anticipating additional costs for baby formula, clothes, and natal care as she's eight months pregnant and expecting soon.
Finally with the ceasefire, Rana is hoping to evacuate with her family altogether. The cost of evacuation per person ranges from $5000 to $7000. If Rana gives birth before she can evacuate, that puts the total anticipated cost at $49,000 (5 children, 2 adults).
