That's actually would be a great deconstruction of the trope.

And it will be soooo hilarious & dramatic!

Like, why they always go for a teenager? Because they are already old enough but still can be changed and formed into what the world needs them to be. That's the main idea. When you discover being the chosen one, The only one who can do it, you have to change your life, sometimes completely, sometimes change yourself too. And fast. For the Greater Good, yada, yada.

And now imagine some 40-50 yo have to do the same. So much drama and midlife crisis potential.
