We went to our local Wal-Mart after gymnastics class tonight. I'm in love with the #mladolls Farm Stand😍 I had to convince Leocadia we couldn't buy it because mommy had a #budget 😔. We DID find a "Forces of Destiny" Princess Leia for $5 (despite the tag saying $13😁), a #mladolls Ironing Laundry set for $2, and a couple Disney Happy Places blind boxes on Rollback. So we scooped them up and brought them home🦊❤ They have been placed in the Box of Holding for gifting later on. Ever on the hunt for doll-stuff (even if i dont buy any of it) I found a mini record player that plays tiny records!😍 The box says the records play about 30 seconds of music, and there is a popular song on each of the records🎶 I also found a couple cute fairy garden kits! These would be perfect for tiny dolls like Calico Critters. I had insomnia again last night, so I stayed up till 3 am and did some work. Needless to say, I didn't get up in time to take Leocadia to daycare. 😪🛏⏰😖☠ But here's the good news: The dollhouse Kitchen is finished!😄❤🦊 The rolling door works, there's plenty of room for the Leocadia and the dolls to play, and I am putting all other projects on hold until after the holiday season. I'll post more pics of the finished room soon. Right now, Leocadia is stocking it with all our doll kitchen stuff and food. I've made a *little* progress on the kitchen. I have the casing for the shelving up and all the raw edges and seams covered in paper. Admittedly, I still need to finish the windows, but I got the idea to make more shelving and a sliding door, so...here I am. 😄 Next up, making and covering the shelves in patterned paper, designing the railing and trolley system for the sliding door, making the door, and finally finishing the windows. You know, just a short list of things to do. Hopefully I won't get distrac-- Oh, look! It's finally starting act like autumn in Tennessee. It's raining. Yesterday was a balmy 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Today is around 50 and soggy. So I have a good reason to stay inside, drink more coffee and hot cocoa, and work on the dollhouse 😄 Incidentally, I decided around midnight, last night, to add onto the kitchen. It will now have shelving and a rolling style barn door. I'm working on the dollhouse kitchen today. Countertops and cupboards are now under construction. ✏📏📐✂🛠 You know what's awesome about being a creative, being a maker? That a person can do anything, make anything, fix what needs to be fixed. And have the empowerment to solve problems or puzzles, even when they require another person's help or expertise. I have friends that can create amazing things with the mediums they have chosen to express themselves with. Be that expression come through painting, needle arts, coding, building, paperarts, whatever it is, we are makers, artists, doers, and crafters. There really isn't a distinction. When it comes to self-expression, we are all part of a larger community that should embrace all of our differences. We can't afford to be elitists and exclusionary because its those innovators and dreamers that can and will push us and help us to become the best we can be.
