Curate, connect, and discover
don't ever talk to me or my morgenstern siblings cope au ever again
my beautiful princess with a disorder
i used to separate them distinctly in my mind but this reread is making me kind of unable to do that..
i gotta clarify first that i think sebastian needs to be punished for what he did. i don't think any of what i'm about to say absolves him of anything he's done.
that being said, i think sebastian was so tragically doomed by the narrative that he never had a choice but to make the choices he did. he never had a chance to be anything else because of valentine and jocelyn (although jocelyn to a far lesser extent than valentine). every step of his existence from conception to death is stripped of agency. every choice he makes is done in the shadows of valentine stripping away his humanity and mercilessly abusing him until he's a perfect weapon. and then the bastard has the nerve to be ashamed of what he created.
i just wish sebastian had gotten a fucking chance to be anything other than jocelyn's shame and valentine's weapon.
sebastian morgenstern is actually the best villain ever because he makes me a devastating combination of sad and angry

Absolutely nothing beats Valentine's parenting strategy of "this is my good son who I keep in the house and my evil son who I keep in the shed. They're both named Jonathan"
