Me, drawing Sonic fanart in 2024? It's more likely than you'd think! I used to draw quite a lot of Sonic fanart back in the day... way back in the day! I have recently been hit with a resurgence of Shadow love. A character whose main themes are grief, loss and redemption? Of course I love him!

Also, this fic is literally one of my favorite Sonic movie verse fics ever, obsessed with how they characterize Shadow and the others!

“Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable by saying that." Stone's voice cut through Shadow's thoughts, making him look at the sheepishly smiling human. "You can just disregard it, it was just a silly thought I had."

"Do you think I'm cute?" Shadow couldn't help but ask, no judgement in his voice as he tilted his head slightly to the side.

Stone looked at Shadow with wide eyes and looked between Shadow's hands that were resting palms up in his lap and Shadow's expression. Stone let out a soft cough while looking off to the side. "Well… When you are calm and inquisitive like this… Yes, you can be cute. But you can be just as serious and 'cool', don't worry about it too much."

Shadow let out a soft hum at the admission and looked back at his hands again. So when he was calm, Shadow was cute. Maybe that's why Maria had found him cute, too. He'd always been calm around her.

Rough concept sketch

I surprised that I haven’t seen much Shadow and Maddie stuff considering it brings in a potentially interesting dynamic of Vet/loving parent and Ex-lab animal/traumatized child. I’m definitely going to be exploring this concept further in the future cause I’m obsessed.

Shadow also swaying side to side a bit because his body is stressed from being captive for 50 years.

Fun post canon idea

Shadow survives and runs off to Canada and sort of just does what he can to survive. In the meantime, the team try tracking him down due to the spike in chaos energy. So it’s a bit of a goose chase with Shadow not even realizing they are trying to find him. He teleports all around the world but is primarily drawn to Canada for reasons he doesn’t understand (Canada and Montana literally border each other, they’re all dumb) he also still has three chaos emeralds while Sonic has the other four.

In which the team track Shadow post movie 3, only he didn’t come back quite right.

I saw an adorable little post of agent Stone and Shadow sharing some lattes by @dubusul and realized that canonically Shadow is in fact a coffee guy and I thought it'd be adorable if him and Stone reopened the Mean Bean together.

apparently, that is not an original idea and @pincushionx beat me to making a little barista boy

i loved him in this movie. he was so silly and fun but actually acted serious when he needed to. he developed and matured so much. when he decided to give sonic the thing he had looked for HIS WHOLE LIFE because he didn’t want to fight him? because he preferred to trust his brother and his good heart rather than harm his family? i just-

and talking about family

he is THE big brother 🥹 he looked after sonic and tails the whole time, he was so protective over them.

i was 100% satisfied with what they did with knuckles in this movie. the only thing i missed was him interacting a bit more with his newfound parents but i understand there was too much going on.

i just physically need to hear him call maddie “mum” once :”)
