Curate, connect, and discover
Since I somehow got my motivation back, I'll put Soulless!tale away for now to do some renovations to it. Don't know if I'll be able to finish it though, my motivation is staring at me while going for the cold depths of the afterlife. Sorry everyone.
Warning for those who want to read/are reading Soulless!tale, since I've reread everything I've written and saw how poorly written it was I decided to rewrite everything, so current chapters are going through a huge editing. The first prologue already got rewritten but it might be changed again so be aware of this. Also, don't worry, I am currently working on chapter three. School drained me of all the creativity I had, but now that I'm free and I took some rest I will be more active and write more, I promise. Welp, that's all I wanted to say, so goodbye everyone.
Mmmmmmh.
I want to explain something real quick on the Player, or better, the Players. Because yeah, the one in my story is only one of the many entities that controlled Frisk. They only are the one that got caught up in this mess.
Undertale has been played by many people, but it is born small. So there probably weren't many who had the occasion to do a Pacifist before someone discovered the Genocide. I just said 26 runs happened before that because it's a funny number.
The Player in the story itself had his fair share of playthroughs, and this was their 46th. When the incident happened, that particular copy of the game detached itself from the original game and now the Player can't play with that account. They could create a new one buuuuuut it's no fun, right? After all they were itching for something different to happen.
Okay everyone, sorry for the radio silence but they're beating me to a pulp with all the tests and homeworks they're assigning me (yes, I frequent a lyceum), plus I'm revisioning some of my other stories and some of the character's personalities in Soulless!tale and I'm trying to make Chapter 3 a liiiiittle longer, because I feel like the others are too short. Plus every time I get inspired I write like 2 strings of dialogue and goodbye inspiration. So please be patient with me, okay? Thanks.
My Player be like:
I just thought about something.
EXP in Undertale is something used to quantify the amount of pain you inflicted to others.
LV is something used to quantify how much you can hurt someone, your capacity of hurting increases every time you hurt because the more you hurt, the more you distance yourself, the more easily it is for you to hurt again.
This is the basic, right? Along with the fact you will hurt more if someone doesn't expect you to hurt them and therefore you will gain more EXP. This is shown with betrayal kills, and it's a popular thing in the fandom to say that you can gain EXP without killing by hurting emotionally. Example, Glitchtale. Another common thing to assume is that you can also increase your LV without actually hurting anyone, like in Undertale Yellow Genocide Route (Axis battle).
But is it possible for you to lower your LV without lowering your EXP? You can't change the fact you hurt them, you can't change the past, but if you somehow unlearn all the things you learned on hurting them, if you get close to them again, if you open yourself, would your LV lower? But most important of all, wouldn't it be as cool as heck? It's like a statement that you did mistakes, yes, but you are willing to amend them. In spite of those who say they can't change. Yes, you can. Stop saying you can't. This headcanon is going to make it into my story, it's just so cool.
This... this is actually true.
I've got a ton of stories going on in my head, Soulless!tale only being my favorite, and I can tell from personal experience that the best ideas come when you're bored. Once I was in a six-hours long car trip, only my mp3 to entertain me because my phone didn't have battery. I played my playlist, put it on loop and just... stood there. Staring at nothing. For six hours. Of course, there were occasional pauses, to eat and pee, but besides those it was all the same. It was the same day I started thinking seriously about this AU of mine, and started building FC's (not canon name) personality. Next thing you know, I already sketched out in my mind some episodes of them interacting with people from across the multiverse.
And obviously, school hours play a big role in helping me develop my stories.
By posting this I just wanted to say... be bored. Because that's how you find inspiration for your stories. And maybe, maybe one day it'll end like with Tolkien.
You will create a masterpiece worshipped by those that will read it years later

So I have this character, a variant of monster kid, that for many reasons when he grew up became a merciless showman that does many shows (mainly on card tricks) and that manipulates others and never lets himself get involved in a fight. Now of course this is not all, but this is how the world sees him, and that's all you need to know for now. He was a big friend of Frisk back in his childhood so of course he is friends with FC (not canon name) as well.
I was scrolling through shorts on YouTube, and I came across that really old meme that goes like "gentlemen, gentlemen, let's be civil about this." And I suddenly became shocked, because I realized "Dang, this is a thing so in character for him, why didn't I think about this before?". Imagine. He is in trouble, he is surrounded by enemies, he can't escape, and he doesn't care and goes "Let's make a deal!", like he couldn't care less about the fact he's in danger and keeps up the playful and careless facade. And when they mock him and say "And how do you intend to kill us?", he simply smiles and, almost apologetically, says "Oh no, I can't kill you. But my buddy can! Say hi, buddy!", and boom! FC appears out of nowhere pissed off (like, REALLY pissed off) and says "hi" with a menacing voice that is warning "you touch my friend, I end your life". Just imagine. How the heck is a meme so fit for him?
(I can't find the original meme, so I'll attach a copy. If anyone knows who the creator is please warn me)

Greetings again. These are going to be more "meta" questions.
Where will your story be posted? You did say it would be on Quotev but will it be on other sites as well?
Is the Player going to be more like their own character in the story or will they be generalized to represent any/every player?
What's the general plot / summary for your story?
Will Deltarune be mentioned in the story or will it exclusively be Undertale?
Will there be any OCs in your story?
This is all for now :D
I just realized FC looks similar to Kris, oh well. I hope you'll like the drawing!
Hello there.
1) yes, I already started writing it on Quotev and once I reach something like chapter 5 I want to start posting it on Wattpad (warning: I'm not the best writer in the world, but I'm trying my best)
2) I will make them a personification of every player. Like, much or less every gamer has a morbid curiosity that brings them to discover every single secret they can. In some it is more present, in some almost absent, but it's always there. In my Player that curiosity will be exalted and very evident. Oh, they also are a hacker and a coder, and have a particular passion for everything Undertale related.
3) I planned this AU to be very long, like a trilogy if compared to a book. This first book will focus more on FC's (spoiler free answer :) ) struggles and adventures to stop the Player from controlling this world and banning them permanently via code, but we will discover the Player has more resources than we initially thought... ;)
4) I don't think so, because Deltarune is still an unfinished game and I want to keep my assumptions and theories the most accurate possible so people can easily adhere to them (for example my spirit theory can easily be included in Undertale and nothing significant would change). Deltarune could present in the future mechanics that could easily mess up my theories, so aside from some cameos and funny references Deltarune won't have a significant impact on my story... not yet at least.
5) yes, in this first book there is at least one, and more will show up later on.
As for the drawing... yes. Just yes. I don't have the words necessary to express just how I love it.
Third post on the AU I'm pretty sure nobody noticed, but still exists anyway.
In this one I'd like to talk about FC (this ISN'T their canon name), and specifically code-related stuff about them. As I specified twice previously, they got their code destroyed, so what happened to all the code-needing stuff then? The answer is quite simple.
They're gone.
HP? Gone. EXP? Gone. LOVE? Gone. ATK, DEF, GOLD? Completely, absolutely gone. If you killed them (and to kill them means you have to find some way to make their spirit no more bound to this world and their determination) you wouldn't obtain anything. If you try to pull them into a Fight it won't work. They can physically harm you, but no damage will occur to your HP. They can only be harmed physically, and magic will work on them only if it can do just that (a bone sent at slow speed at them will only bonk them instead of dropping their inexistent HP). If they want to kill, they have to do it at a physical level. If they killed, it would happen what happens when you kill someone in the real world, no EXP or LOVE included.
I developed this mechanic based on a set of dialogue strings Toriel says in the Ruins.
If you go through the Ruins and get hurt in a fight but heal yourself (with a SAVE file or food) Toriel will still notice you're hurt physically, and she says she will try to heal you. If you go through the Ruins and you don't get hit, Toriel will comment how impressive it is that you managed to do so. This led me to conclude physical injuries exist in Undertale and they can be caused by magic as well and magic does not damage only your soul. That gave me the start jump of developing FC's ways of getting hurt.
By the way, in this AU the SAVE ability and the Reset button are an exclusive of the Player, since 1. They technically were the most determined being in the world, or at least were until this little incident (their superiority in determination is what allowed them to control FC in the first place) 2. Even if FC wanted to use them, these abilities can only be used by beings with a CODE, so they automatically go to the Player anyway 3. They are what ties the Player to this world, and if they exist the Player will always find a way back. However they can't use it since to physically press the buttons it requires a vessel that is the most determined as well, and since that role now belongs to FC it creates a situation where nobody can use the buttons.
That's pretty much all I wanted to say. As per usual, thank you for reading this post and coming to the end, feel free to leave a question in the ask box if you have doubts, if you like this AU consider subscribing to see when other posts come out and check out the real story on Quotev. Adieu, mon cheries!
Here's another post on the AU nobody asked for but that exists nonetheless.
Soulless!Frisk/Chara (in this post I will call them FC for short but this ISN'T their canon name) are literally made of determination. How is this possible? Well, in MY vision of Undertale the soul isn't the culmination of your being, but a mere recipient for whatever magic/trait your SPIRIT produces. It still is very important, since you need it to feel emotions and, in a monster's case, form your body. That explains how Flowey and Chara's spirit are possible, and how the other human souls still intervene in your favor in Omega Flowey's battle and how they keep producing their traits despite being dead. They aren't really dead in all three cases. Monsters' spirits pass in their dust when they die, that explains the reason behind the ceremony of putting the dust of someone dead on an object to conserve their essence. Also for me spiritual determination and physical DETERMINATION are two different things, the physical DETERMINATION being the one produced by the SPIRIT. So, I already specified in the previous post that FC's DETERMINATION condensed in physical matter to form a new body, thus creating a particular relation between the SPIRIT and the body. That's why they risk to explode at any moment. Since the Player inserted a special command in the game before playing this run (to see if anything would change) that made Asriel's last attack fatal FC's code is completely destroyed, so their DETERMINATION, to survive, reacts like this and makes the game crash. Just a mechanism of defense against something that shouldn't have happened in the first place.
In this post I wanted to clarify these things, since I feel like people would miss them normally and they are important to understand the story and how FC works. If you have any questions about anything that regards this the ask box is open, and please notify me about the weak points of my theories because it helps me to improve them. I thank you for reaching the end of this post, even just reading it all means a lot to me because I know I tend to ramble when I write and I appreciate the time and energies you spent on reading until the end. So thank you infinitely, and feel free to just skip through this if you don't like my story, but if you do happen to enjoy this, follow me here on Tumblr and check out the real story on Quotev.
Bye!
