My favorite chicken. Fat. Clueless. Full of love.

I don't like how the birthdays from stardew valley are set up in the real world. Like most of December is in the fall according to the solstice but Sebastian's birthday is winter 10 and we've decided it's December 10th.

Nah, let's give all the characters accurate birthdays in accordance with the seasons.

I'll set it up 2 ways:

1. Taking the earliest dates of each solstice and equinox that defines the seasons and dividing that by 28 (number of days in a stardew valley season) then multiplied that number by the NPC's bday (I'll explain the math later)

2. Taking the average amount of days in-between each IRL season and dividing that by 28

Earliest dates are as follows:

Spring March 19

Summer June 20

Autumn September 21

Winter December 20

The length of each season in this method is

91 days for spring

93 days for summer

90 days for fall

90 days for winter

The average days in between is 91.5 days.

Dividing by 28 we get

3.25 Spring

3.32142857 Summer

3.2142857 Autumn / Winter

3.267857142857143 Average

These numbers are the difference between our real world dates and stardew valley dates

Our season are about 90 days long, their's are 28 days so

1 day for stardew players is about 3 days for us.

Now that we have these numbers let's find out how each day correlates to each villager.

It will be in order of earliest birthday to latest and will follow this format

TL:DR The dates in stardew valley are incorrect and I updated them according to IRL seasons.

the concept of the farmer being a literal anomaly to the townspeople bc of their in-game features and add-ons will always b so funny to me. so heres a little silly doodle i made.

TW: Alcoholism, EDs and body dysmorphia, and mentions of being suicidal.

Here's some headcanon stuff before i get to the depressing shit

Leon is 5'5", and Shane is 5'6" (funnily enough, leon was made to be short because i wanted him to be slightly shorter than shane, and i've always headcanoned shane as 5'6")

Neither one can cook. Leon has literally burnt down his kitchen before.

Leon is 27, and Shane is 34

Leon is horrible with kids, but Shane is surprisingly good with them (it's cause he tries to be a good uncle to jas)

Leon doesn't understand a thing about gridball, but it's fine cause shane loves to ramble and explain it.

Shane is transmasc, and uses he/they pronouns.

Leon uses he/him pronouns.

Shane wears exclusively crocs, even at work. It drives leon insane (he despises crocs).

Leon and Shane are both slobs, and it drives Leon's bodyguard Phillip (who also lives with them) fucking nuts. (phil is a part of their relationship, but i want to focus on leon and shane's dynamic here. i'll eventually make a post about a phil x shane dynamic)

Leon is somehow still a certified accountant (even after getting fired from his last job for accused fraud. he was set up tho), and handles the finances for the farm, and deals with tax stuff. He often rambles about accountant stuff to Shane, who doesn't understand a lick of it.

Leon is allergic to cats, but they still keep a cat around the farm.

Leon's full name is Leonard Valentine Locke. DO NOT call him Leonard, he despises his full name.

So shane has always been a big influence on my oc, Leon (it was mostly subconscious, I didn't realize Leon was so similar to Shane until a couple of months ago)

They're both suicidally depressed and alcoholics, and both struggle with their sense of self-worth.

I believe that Shane drinks because he lost two close friends who meant a lot to him (Jas' parents), and didn't know how to deal with the grief. He'd already had a bit of an issue with alcohol before, but nothing like it would become.

Leon drinks because he had a shit childhood and a shit life. He hates himself, and struggles with major depression. He's on antidepressants, and meds for bipolar 2, which react poorly with the alcohol, worsening his symptoms, and making him heavily suicidal. He always had a problem with alcohol, but it became significantly worse when he shot and killed his father. While it was self-defense, his now boss, Zalu Merriweather, used it against him to get Leon to work for them. That sent Leon into a downward spiral, and he ended up nearly dying multiple times.

He ended up in Stardew Valley with his bodyguard, Phillip, because of some lore thing idk. what happens in stardew valley isn't canon to my story, so i haven't put too much though as to why Leon ends up there lmao

But Leon finds shane, and they are two drunk peas in a pod. They get along well, (perhaps too well), and are both worsening the other's alcoholism, since Shane now has a drinking buddy, and leon thinks shane's hot af, but leon prefers to be drunk when he sleeps with someone.

Then shane's six-heart event rolls around, and leon doesn't want to shane to end up like him. Shane decides he's going to get his shit together.

Leon doesn't get sober yet, tho. He's still drinking and struggling, but with Shane now being sober, he doesn't want to be a bad influence.

Eventually, shane and phil are able to help leon give up alcohol.

Leon gives it up entirely, but Shane is able to have a few beers every now and then.

Leon gains weight after quitting alcohol, and it really fucks with him. He had an ED when he was younger, and has bad body dysmorphia. Seeing his body become "ugly" by his standards almost makes Leon relapse, but he works through it.

3rd image: Shane and Charlie are startled awake by one of the chickens suddenly being frantic. He rushes over to watch the egg hatch (alongside other hens) (waiting). "Pop." While sniffling, Shane says "so proud..."

In my brain Elliot has major one sided beef with Shane but this whole time Shane has just thought he was matching his energy and now Shane thinks they are besties and Elliot wants him dead.

Sebastian reminds Shane so much of his younger self it makes his heart ache. Seb, Abi and Sam remind him of himself and Jas’s parents when they were younger, before the accident.

His ears are covered in healed piercings, his lip and eyebrow also.

When he either marries the farmer or when the Joja Mart closes he starts working on the farm, and gets big. Like I picture year five Shane fuckin swole. Hay bale lifting and heavy machinery pushing all goes to his shoulders

Im not saying washboard abs, the kinda strength you see in proper weight lifters, all muscle and roundness thats rough around the edges.

I like to think there are old home videos of Shane and Jas’s parents that she plays sometimes, when the saloon gets a TV she brings them in to watch on the proper TV rather than the poor excuse that Marnie has, Shane cries like a baby seeing is old friends on a decent screen, in high quality.

and Seb, Abi and Sam watch jaws drop as alternate timeline versions of them appear on the screen

Shane can fuckin sing, while hes working that man has the OG emo anthems either blasting or singing them himself.

He does the cough at the beginning of ‘dear maria count me in’ and it makes him laugh everytime before he sings with the most angelic ex-emo voice the world has ever heard.

Shane and Jas’ parents definitely had a band of their own, Shane gives me Bass or Keyboard vibes along with primarily back up vocals but once he has a drink in him he could lead vocal for hours.

He seems like the kinda guy that once upon a time was probably the most stressed waiter known to man, nineteen years old Shane having decided to not go to college his roomates/bestfriends are pregnant and are planning a shotgun wedding, stressed outta his mind, industrial piercing rejecting and infected, eye twitching while a customer asks for their fries to be replaced with prawns and refusing to pay any extra costs for that

He gives screaming match in the kitchen with the chef and then going out back to smoke weed with him vibes.

“Hey buddy,” He stepped into the room carefully, the Farmer sniffed and wiped their face with the blanket.

“I’m so sorry,” they whispered voice so soft Shane almost couldn’t hear, tears were still rolling down their cheeks and the teddy clutched tight to their chest.

“Don’t havta be sorry Farmer, we’re just worried is all, haven’t seen you in a minute.”

That seemed to have burst the floodgates, the Farmer started sobbing and apologising, bringing the teddy up to their face, “I’m sorry, I don’t know whats wrong with me. I’ve been so mean and missed everyones birthdays and the Feast and I’m just being so silly!” The words were tumbling out of their mouth faster than they could speak, all falling over each other between gasping breaths of tears.

It reminded Shane of Jas when they first moved to the town, full of emotions and words but not being able to organise them, everything spilling out once the feelings got too overwhelming.

He moved to the side of the bed, rubbing the Farmers back gently. The poor Farmer’s whole body shook with tears as they cried into the soft teddy, “Farmer, nobody thinks you’re silly, it’s okay.” The Farmer only shook their head in response, “I’ve only came by to make sure you’re okay buddy, and it sure doesn’t seem it, do you wanna talk about it?”

The Farmer shuffled backwards in the bed, leaning against the headboard and pillows, Shane sat on the edge of the bed quietly. The Farmer looked at him with wide eyes, still swallowing sobs and shaking slightly. Shane just smiled softly and waited for an answer, Jas got like this as well, desperate to say something but the words got blocked in her throat.

“I don’t know…” Shane barely heard it, “I’m sorry for worrying you.”

“Only worried because we, I, want to help you, Yoba knows you’ve helped us all beyond words.” He placed a gentle hand on their knee drawn up to their body, “It’s not silly to feel upset and you haven’t been mean in the slightest.”

The Farmer took in a deep breath, “Winter is sad,” the words were strained like they were forcing them out, Shane just nodded waiting for the Farmer to fight out the next words, “I just… It’s so lonely here. Everyone has family and people and I’m not even useful in Winter,” tears slipped down their cheeks, brows drawn in concentration, “I’m the Farmer, I grow plants and help everyone and nothing grows in Winter, there’s no point in me.”

Shane patted their knee lightly, trying to think of something, anything to say, he disagreed with the farmer but these feelings were familiar to him, just saying they were wrong wouldn’t help, and then the Farmer spoke again.

“I feel so small and useless, like everything in the world is just too big. I miss my family and friends and feeling loved! I wish I could hideaway all Winter and come back and feel better in Spring but even when I have crops and fruit the feeling doesn’t go away, I’m just too busy to feel. I hate how small I feel, I hate me and I hate the Farm!” The words had anger in them but the sobs dampened them, the Farmer curled up into themself and their whole body wracked with sobs.

“You’re very brave for telling me, those are very big and difficult feelings to have,” Shane felt like his therapist but the words felt right, “sometimes big feelings are difficult to deal with especially if you feel alone.” The Farmer only made a strangled noise in their throat as a response, still curing in on themself.

Shane’s mind was running a mile a minute, scrambling to understand what's being said, and then something clicked, like a puzzle piece, “Hey bud, when you say you feel small, how do you mean?”

The Farmer shook their head and buried their face into the teddy, very much reminding Shane of Jas when she was younger.

“I promise it’s okay, I’m here for you no matter what,” the farmer blinked at him with large owlish eyes, childlike. “Do you feel smaller in your head? Bein a grown-up get too much?”

“I’m sorry,” the Farmer whispered again, so softly that it was barely louder than a breath, “I don’t mean to be bothering you.”

“Not bothering me buddy,” Shane smiled softly, “Would you like a hug?”

The Farmer, shuffled closer to Shane, legs still tight to their body, leaning onto his side, Shane still on the edge of the bed brought his arm around the Farmer to hold them close, gently rubbing their arm. They sat like that for a while, Shane’s arm got tired and the Farmer's tears had stopped.

“Hey buddy, why don’t we move a bit, just to get you more comfortable?” The Farmer only nodded, letting Shane move them back to the top of the bed, “do you wanna get under the covers? It’s a little chilly in here,” the Farmer again only nodded letting Shane bring the covers up over them and sat again on the edge of the bed facing the Farmer, “have you been feeling this way for a while?”

Again the Farmer nodded gently stroking their teddy's ears, Shane felt he could barely breathe, the Farmer looking so sad and exhausted, all he could think was that he should’ve come to check on them sooner. Left it to nearly the end of the season while the Farmer has been thinking it is their fault.

“I want you to know you aren’t alone, even if it feels that way,” the Farmer met his eyes and Shane just couldn’t stop thinking how young they look, with the weight of the world on their shoulders and all of the feelings that no one deserves. “I’m here for you buddy, no matter what. There’s nothing that could make me upset with you, you’re one of the most important people in my life.”

The Farmer's eyes welled up with tears, Shane continued, “Let me do what I can for you buddy, nobody deserves to feel the way you are.”

The Farmer moved over in the bed and patted the sheets next to them, Shane kicked his boots off and got onto the bed next to the Farmer, above the covers, the Farmer burrowed under his arm and rested their head on his chest. Quietly spilling tears onto his sweater, Shane rubbed their back.

“Everything is going to be okay sweetheart,” the farmer nodded and blinked up at him, eyelids heavy, “It is getting late isn’t it? Crying always makes me tired.”

The Farmer only brought their teddy to rest between them and snuggled closer, “Why don’t I tell you a story?”

I finally got the tea set! As you can see, I've been trying to obtain this item for the past five in-game years. What's even funnier is that it happened on the day I achieved True Perfection. Out of all people, it was Shane who gifted me the tea set! I never saw that coming! 😂

Oh Shane, my bestie. You have no idea how much this rare item means to me!

Stardew Valley Bachelors as Goobers (Idea from Insta)

I like the read the marriage/general dialouge of the stardew valley bachelors and Bachelorettes, INCLUDING the mod bachelor/ettes which also has the dialouge for them on the fandom wiki page. (Like ridgeside for example) However, for east scarp, some character's wiki pages are not updated (I'm generally talking about the mod 'Always Raining in the Valley') and I rlly want to read those (*ahem* Sterling's) dialouges so I can giggle and kick my feet 😔😔
