You weren’t used to crowds.

And right now, that was a problem—because you were very much in one. A particularly sweaty, loud, and increasingly hostile one. The Straw Hats had docked at a lively but rough port for supplies, and in an unfortunate twist of fate, you’d gotten separated from the crew while browsing a small weapons stall.

Now you were surrounded by a group of sneering pirates, each one more obnoxious than the last, forming a loose circle around you like a pack of hyenas smelling blood.

“Aww, what’s wrong, sweetheart?” one of them leered, waving a cutlass lazily at your side. “Cat got your tongue?”

“She ain’t said a word,” another said, voice thick with mockery. “Too scared, huh?”

“She’s shaking,” a third laughed. “Bet she can’t even hold a sword properly.”

They were right about one thing: you hadn’t spoken. But it wasn’t fear that silenced you—it was them. Strangers. Eyes. Loud voices demanding a reaction.

Your throat felt tight. The words—simple ones, just leave me alone—were locked behind a door your mind couldn’t open. So you did what you always did when this happened.

You stared.

Expression blank. Shoulders loose. Breathing calm.

The mask of silence you wore never failed to make people underestimate you.

And right on cue, the biggest of the group stepped forward, cocky and smug. “C’mon, sweetheart. Say somethin’. Just one word.”

You tilted your head and blinked at him slowly.

He leaned in closer, thinking you were cornered prey.

And that’s when he made his mistake.

He reached out—fingertips brushing your collarbone, tugging at your cloak—like you were some kind of doll to poke and prod.

You whispered, barely audible: “Don’t touch me.”

He blinked. “What was that—”

And then you moved.

The first crack was his ribs.

You didn’t look strong. That was your favorite part about this whole thing. Small frame, loose clothes, no visible weapon. You’d always been dismissed as fragile, silent, soft.

But that was before your elbow shattered the man’s chestplate and launched him backward into a fruit stand. The market screamed and scattered. In seconds, chaos erupted.

Two more charged at you from either side. You twisted—agile, fluid—and drove a sharp heel into one’s temple while catching the other’s blade between your fingers. Not even a scratch.

He stared at you in shock.

You smiled sweetly.

Then bent the sword in half like it was tinfoil.

“Oh, she’s weird,” one pirate shrieked.

“Demon!” another cried.

You crouched low and pressed your palm to the ground. There was a faint ripple of energy, subtle and shimmering. A deep hum thrummed beneath the earth. Then the cobblestones exploded, launching your remaining attackers into the air like popcorn kernels.

Psychic force, compressed and sharp like a blade of wind. You didn’t need to speak to cast—just focus. Just want.

Across the square, the Straw Hats had heard the explosion before they saw you.

“What was that?!” Usopp shouted, ducking behind Franky.

“I think the market’s being destroyed!” Nami yelled.

“Could be marines,” Sanji muttered.

“Could be her,” Zoro said suddenly, eyes narrowing.

“Huh?” Chopper squeaked.

Zoro didn’t answer. He was already walking toward the noise.

When they arrived, the square was in shambles.

Stalls crushed. Dust everywhere. Six pirates knocked out cold. A seventh trying to crawl away with only one shoe and his pride in pieces.

And you—standing alone in the middle of it all, clothes scuffed but otherwise untouched, casually spinning a small rock above your palm with lazy telekinesis.

You looked up when they approached. Your eyes locked with Luffy’s first.

You expected him to be surprised.

Instead, he beamed.

“THAT WAS AWESOME!” he yelled, running up to you like a kid seeing fireworks for the first time. “You exploded the GROUND!”

You blinked, unsure how to respond.

Zoro whistled low. “You’re stronger than you look.”

Nami was wide-eyed. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

You shrugged, still spinning the rock.

Robin tilted her head, looking more curious than shocked. “Psychic ability,” she murmured. “Very rare. You must have excellent control.”

Sanji, meanwhile, was clutching his chest. “Mon dieu… she flipped a man with her foot. I am in love. I am ascending.”

You rolled your eyes.

Chopper scrambled up your shoulder, stars in his eyes. “Can you teach me that thing you did with the sword?!”

You raised a brow, then made the rock hover in front of him. He squealed in delight.

Usopp ducked behind Luffy. “Can she read minds?! Wait—can she read MY mind?!”

You smirked. Then deliberately looked at him and said nothing.

He screamed and ran behind a barrel.

And through it all, Luffy never stopped smiling.

Later, back on the Sunny, Luffy found you sitting at the railing, watching the sea. The sun was setting, sky turning to amber and pink. You didn’t hear him approach, but you felt him sit beside you.

You glanced at him, then looked away.

He leaned closer. “You okay?”

You nodded.

“You don’t talk a lot,” he said, not as a complaint, just a statement.

You shook your head.

“But you can.”

You hesitated. Then leaned in, gently cupping your hands around his ear.

“I only speak when it matters,” you whispered.

He grinned. “It mattered earlier?”

You nodded again.

He sat back, still smiling. “Good. Then I’ll wait. ‘Til it matters again.”

You stared at him for a second longer. Then reached out, flicked his forehead gently with a little psychic zap.

He flinched. “Hey!”

You didn’t reply. Just smirked.

He grinned wider.

“You’re cool shishishishi,” he said.

And you finally let yourself laugh—quiet, barely audible, but real.

They’d seen your power now. The cat was out of the bag.

But you still had a hundred secrets left to keep.

And the crew?

They were just getting started.

a/n: idk if its just me but i love an overpowered reader, especially if theyre psychic ><

French Sanji is already a gem of a headcannon, now imagine that paired with French Canadian Chopper.

Someone: compliments Chopper

Chopper blushing: Tabarnac t’a pas besoin d’dire ça espèce de cul.

Straw hats: all turn to Sanji because he’s supposed to speak French

Sanji: I have no idea what he just said.

So I’m planning on making a one piece vampire dnd-ish AU and I need help.

The vampire part is a bit complicated but the gist of it is, you have three types of vampires, devils, damned and donors. Devils are those born from two vampires, Donors are also born from two vampires, but their blood can turn others into vampires. Regular vampire strengths and weaknesses for them. Damned are the ones who turn into vampires by drinking blood and get various powers( this Au’s version of devil fruit users). Damned aren’t affected by the sun.

I say dnd-ish cause I really like all the concept with the classes so I’m using those, but not the whole world lore. Aside from a few google searches I don’t know much about the different classes.

I want to give all the straw hats classes to help with the lore of the Au. So far this is what I got:

Usopp: Archer-Ranger, but he still uses his sling shot, I chose this for obvious reasons.

Nami: elementalist, from what I understand they usually have one max two types of elements, but because of Nami’s weather related abilities in the anime I’m thinking of just letting her have 4 elements but be more of a glass canon.

Robin: sorcerer(?) who specializes in rune magic, gonna combine rune with poneglyph lore. I think her devil fruit power works well with rune magic.

My biggest problem is with the close range combat types, I’m just overwhelmed with the options. I’ll give a brief description for each crew member.

Luffy is obviously a damned, but he doesn’t regularly drink blood like other vampires. Instead he eats copious amounts of food.

Zoro an ex-mercenary, also known as Vampire hunter Zoro. He just hunted vampires because they were the jobs with the biggest pay. He isn’t affiliated to any group.

Sanji is the escaped prince of the germa kingdom. The germa family are descendants of dragons and after many experiments ichiji, Niji and Yonji can all turn into dragons, Sanji is the only one who doesn’t have this power but he still has increased durability, fire resistance and strength.

Jimbei is a sea monster from Sabaody lagoon

Brook won’t be a vampire he’ll just be some type of undead creature. I like the idea that he turned into an undead by accident.

Chopper will be a reverse weredeer so he turns into a human on the full moon. Because he turned part vampire as a reindeer, when he turns into a human he loses all his power. All his transformations are a result of the vampire blood, he was just born as a reverse weredeer.

Franky i have no idea, he’s just Franky, but with a steampunk aesthetic, he adds gears and pipes just to make stuff look cooler but they’re completely unnecessary.

If any of y’all are still reading I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

I just had a full week of traveling for a move. So here is what each Strawhat would do if they had to catch a plane:

Luffy: wanders around getting distracted by everything. Only packs a backpack filled with meat. Doesn't follow TSA directions and backs up the line. Nearly walks on a different flight. Twice. Nearly misses the plane because he was busy eating. When he finally gets on the plane and it takes off he accidently opens the exit row door thinking it was to the bathroom. Doesn't understand what everyones upset about.

Nami: gets to airport early to shop at all the stores and haggles the prices down. Spends the entire time in the first class lounge ignoring the crew while drinking a fruity drink. Will fly first class even though the rest of the crew is in economy. Is asked to control her child (Luffy).

Usopp: Demands that they be at the airport 4 hours before take off. packs a million bags and ends up fumbling with them through the airport. Is the only person to look at the map and listen to the announcements. Is prepared for a long flight with snacks, water, and several forms of entertainment. Fusses over Luffy the entire time. Gets stuck in the middle seat.

Sanji: spends the entire time carrying Nami and Robin's bags. Is on Zoro watching duty but loses him the second he sees the Duty Free store. Has packed meals and snacks for the flight and is the most casually dressed. Ends up eating at one the a sit down resturant while waiting for the flight. Doesn't understand why his chef knife can't go through security.

Robin: is the most relaxed out of everyone and has the easiest time with security. Packs light and spends the entire time reading a book. Is the only one who succesfully finds a working outlet.

Jinbei: has never flown before and has no idea what he's doing. Gawks at everything and constantly apologizes when learning the rules of TSA and what not. Goes straight to gate and ends up chatting with a nice couple from Alabasta while waiting for flight. Grips arm rest when flight takes off.

Brook: hasn't flown in years but thinks he will be the master at navigating through security. Has the most issues out of everyone. Bags are to heavy so he has to dig through his things and throw things away. Gets randomly selected for extra searches and causes all drug sniffing dogs to go crazy. Spends most of his time getting lost and turned around and ends up sprinting to the gate at the last minute. Gets stuck in front of a kid who kicks his seat the entire time.

Chopper: is first mistaken as a pet until he changes form. Ends up getting mistaken for a mascot and is chased by kids through airport. Runs to robin and turns back into his normal size and spends the rest of the flight at her side. Is the one handing out gum before takeoff.

Franky: can't get past security with all his weapons so Luffy and Usopp check him in as a piece of "oversized luggage". Spends the entire flight under the plane groaning "Lammmee"

Zoro: somehow ends up on the runway wondering "where'd the airport go?" And delays all flights.

My last art of 2020 went off with a bang! I’ve been working on these for a while and they’re finally ready to share. I thought it might be fun to concept designs for the crew with more influence from the islands they were sent to! They ended up a lil costume-y, but I like that too.

Read below for flavour text/design notes or just enjoy the art!

I think something I never really stopped to think too much about in One Piece is the sounds.

I grew up surrounded by nature. I grew up listening to the sounds the woods by my house made, the fields of crops down the road, of the river and creeks at my grandparents, and storms rolling over miles of empty plains in the fall.

I could tell you everything you need to know about those things. I didn't fear the dark because I knew it well. I could run those trails in the dead of night and I could have walked the land around my home blindfolded. I knew every branch that scraped, every bird nest full of singing life, every hole waiting for an ankle, every thorn tree that dropped terrible gifts to the earth. I knew it all.

Now I'm learning the sounds of the city. And everything is so loud. You forgot how quiet the world is when it's just you, and our world is full of loud things. Trains, cars, planes, electricity humming, pipes creaking, etc.

I believe I've made mentions of it before in my posts but I'm just really interested in how the One Piece world sounds.

Do the waves make different sounds than our own? Do sea kings sound more like tigers or gorillas when they roar? Are storms still ear shattering when they call out with thunder? Does the wind howl in your ear, or does it sing?

What does it sound like when Marco flies with massive wings right next to you? Does it sound like a regular bird but magnificent? Or does it pop your ears like a plane? Does he make different noises because of his devil fruit? Are his vocal cords different than someone else's?

What about when Buggy separates? The human body makes a variety of sound when it's sperated in different ways, does he sound like thighs stuck together with sweat in the summer or an injury like the loss of a limb? Does it pop like part of a toy, or maybe a click like a lock and key? Does it make a sound like pulling meat apart?

Does Luffy squeak when he moves all the time? Does he sounds like new shoes on marble or the high pitched screech of bare skin on gym floors?

Did Ace make the wooshing sound of dry wood or maybe the soft pops of low embers? Was he more like a forest fire taking off or a candle flickering in the window?

Does Kidd sound like a a car crash? Like metal bending and reforming itself into something messy and new? Does he clang like dropped silverware or is it heavy like metal gates closing? Maybe he sounds like the hammer of a blacksmith on burning metal?

Does Chopper have a way of talking that's distinctive? Like an accent or a lisp? Surely there would be something that would remind people that vocal cords change with each species and suddenly being able to make the noises of the human language would be a learning curve?

Does Robin sound like skin sliding against skin? Like rubbing your arms when you're cold or the dry sound that comes sometimes when you shake someones hand? Maybe she sounds like the wind in a garden or pulling petals off a flower?

Does Crocodile sound like a sandstorm? Does the sand he controls sound like screaming, like howling? Or maybe it sounds like a mudslide, something powerful and earthly?

Does Doflomingo make the the twang of tight threads being pulled and snapped back into place? Maybe the snap of elastic bands or the zzzz of string being pulled of the roll too quick?

Just so many fun things to consider 💭

Might do one of these about some of the other senses too.
