So... For no reason at all, I was wondering what would be your advice towards anyone who wanted to write something about Hudson? Like what's his general personality, particularly when he first gets hired to the studio and when he's not full of ink poisoning, yet- >w>

What you have to understand about Hudson during this time:

Nationality: Canadian <- we know this. However, did you know that he was born in Toronto and moved to Quebec City? Hudson has French roots as well (due to his Mother).

When moving to New York, he has an overwhelming sense of being an outsider. He is prone to homesickness (homesick), but tries to always push it aside (self-assured). This whole ordeal of moving leaves him very skittish and paranoid.

Hudson's three types of mindset:

"I can also do/be better! I always need to improve. This work needs to be better."

"People are out to get me. Keep your guard up."

"I have to prove my worth and prove people wrong."

Age when hired: 17

Over all personality:

Polite and order taker (meaning he'll take tasks right away) <- these traits being perfected when he was a cadet (a few months before he was hired.) He is very apologetic and is prone to believing that he's in the wrong.

Creative, witty and has a sense of humour. Hudson is eager to share ideas with people and work as a team to get creative projects done. He uses his wits to encourage people, but also to protect himself. His humour is usually dry and Wistfully telling stories to people.

Calculating, paranoid and overwhelmed. He is calculating due to being paranoid and can get overwhelmed by insecurity and work. Self assurance is always forced.

The things that stay consistent is:

Hudson's never ending-need to please and impress his father (David Hendriks) and his desperation to be acknowledged by his father.

Insecurity about his height and overall appearance. He knows he doesn't look his age and is worried he might not look mature enough to be a writer, and not a simple delivery boy.

how would Hudson feel if someone other than Bill and Louise simped for him..? :3

He would feel flattered deep down, but also very confused.

Hudson, ever since being a cadet, already thinks he's an ass hole. Even before the ink! (His confidence from when he was ten got stripped bare)

Despite his insults and spats, he's lonely, but doesn't believe he's worthy... so doesn't reach out

What’s Hudson’s opinion on Ray? Ik they interacted a bit but what was his take on him?

Hudson is still suspicious of Ray, but since Jack has taken a liking to him, Hudson won't harm him.

He got a little annoyed by being mistaken as a newbie, but he doesn't really have a problem with Ray.

I think he just needs to bond with Ray a little more. (Maybe commit arson together)

Having to use your Chromebook's camera is something that pisses me off so much.

No, I will not use my phone.

It's a bootlegged flipphone and it is equally SHITTY.

Anyways, I'm really sorry I haven't been posting much art. It's been a rough couple of days in the real world and I also have my play production tomorrow. I'll take drawing requests and asks for my au or just for Hudson!!

Hudson Andrew Hendrick's age scale!

17-18 year old Hudson: his goal was to grow out his cadet haircut (which he was successful at!) and lived by the employee dress code. He also tried smiling with his teeth!

19 year old Hudson: His hair grew slightly darker at the tips and he tried branching out to colours! As well as trying short side burns. Overall, not much. He also gave up smiling with teeth (thought his smile was ugly).

20 year old Hudson: his face is a little longer, his hair got a little more in control. He accidentally consumed ink at this time. This impacted his mind and caused him to be more paranoid and insecure. He no longer wears a vest due to being indecisive or in a rush. He also grew a little.

21 year old Hudson: hair grew darker and dishevelled as well as tie and collar (not caring to button it up all the way). He is way more aggressive which leads to all sorts of scuffles and is way more visibly strained. He doesn't usually have facial hair, but is more careless with his appearance. Shaving not being that much of a pressing issue as it once was.

What hardly changes (some may not show due to no colour)

The scar on his right brow.

His eyes are brown.

Freckles.

Pale ivory coloured skin.

Slim and short build. (He actually has strength in his arms tho!)

Tie, belt, and slightly pointed nose.

Hudson stared at the keys on his typewriter, most stained by the ink on his fingertips. His eyes wandered to all the notes scattered on his desk, some words scribbled out or sentences left untended to. He picked one note up, an old story idea. The story itself wasn’t really special or original, so he decided to scrap it. It seems like nowadays that he scrapped everything.

Tap. Tap. Tap. 

He adjusted his desk lamp, the light setting an eerie yellow glow over his typewriter. He lay against his chair, staring, but his fingers pausing. His ears strained to hear the tapping in the walls. 

“Isn't it time you head home, Hudson?” A soft voice rang out.

Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. 

Hudson snapped his head up, his eyes narrowing. “I still have half an hour, Charlie,” he said, a defensive edge in his voice. His voice lacked any real bite, more distant than defensive. His eyes focused on the wall. 

Charlie leaned against the doorframe of the department, her brown eyes soft with concern. She wore a navy blue mid-calf flared hemline. It was gaining its popularity in New York fashion. 

 “You don’t have to work so hard, you have the other writers to work with. Teamwork, remember?” 

Hudson snorted, rolling his eyes. “Mhm,” he muttered dismissively, letting his face settle in his hand, glaring at his notes. 

Charlie shook her head, letting out a quiet sigh. She walked over to his desk and was about to place her hand on his shoulder.

Hudson swatted the hand away. “I’m busy,” he snapped. He needed to hear the tapping sound. 

Charlie recoiled back slightly, looking hurt. She then folded her arms and frowned at him till he looked up.

“Don’t you have a date to get to?” Hudson asked flatly, a brow raising.

Charlie clutched her purse, her lips pressed together in a thin line. “I do…but I just wanted to check up on you. Jack’s worried about you and so am I. You haven’t been sleeping, eating or even focusing properly-”

Hudson cut her off, shushing her, “Sh! Did you hear that?” His brown eyes darted to the walls and the ceiling that surrounded them. He pushed himself away from his desk and stood up from his seat, his full attention on the wall. 

Charlie sighed, looking dispirited. She ran a hand down her face, inhaling sharply. “This only proves my point.”  Her eyes darkened at him.

Hudson’s only response was a grunt, his back still turned on Charlie as he scanned the wall. He seemed undaunted by Charlie’s demeanor. 

I gotta ask, Hudson and Jack are both trapped in the cycle, so has Hudson met searcher Jack? If so, how does he regard him?

He probably has!

He still regards Jack as a father figure, but not a protector.

Hudson still cares about Jack and protects him. He shows Jack that he cares by doing small gestures such as opening the elevator, helps him collect things and keeps Jack's space well-lit.

HOWEVER:

Hudson is still very resentful to Jack and feels like Jack could've saved him from Sammy. He's also like: "I TOLD YOU HE WAS TRYING TO KILL ME". Thinking that Jack could've just listened.

Hudson feels betrayed, but is sympathetic to Jack, understanding where Jack is coming from

He refuses to talk to him though. Only offering his silent help and gestures.

SURVIVAL GUIDE TO SURVIVING HENDRIKS: THE DO'S AND DONT'S EDITION

DO NOT:

Pick him up. I don't care if he's dead, you do NOT pick him up. This includes carrying him, hugging him so tightly, and spinning him around. (HE IS NOT A FAIRY PRINCESS.)

Throw him around like a doll. He will remember this and will get revenge.

Correct his English/spelling. (ex: "It's gray. Not "grEy"). This Canadian could not care less and might flick a loonie at you to prove his point.

Steal his food or flask. He will personally steal your food/or flask for a WEEK as revenge.

Do not put things out of his reach on purpose or as a joke. He will kick you in the shins to get what he wants (or grab a chair...).

Do not steal his eyes and bury him under the floorboards for a health inspector to see. Or cut his face off. That is very rude.

Do not give him any small object that can be easy to hide and can cause harm or chaos. (Exs: lighter, brick, fork, door handle)

Do NOT give him nicknames that are tied to his weight. This is rude and (though Hendriks won't admit it) VERY hurtful. This also includes comparing his height to other people's and commentating.

Wow.....that's a lot. So, what can I do?

That's not even half of the list...anyway-

YOU CAN DO:

Hot drinks such as hot tea or coco! This is a good way to calm down an angry Hudson while also making him stop drinking any alcohol at the moment!

Listen! We are all human beings who might need to vent or in need of a shoulder to cry on! It's perfectly normal and healthy! Also a good way to bond!

Hugs, pats on backs and friendly nudges! All shouldn't be for a long time (unless, he isn't pulling away) and should be done in good nature. (He's easy to knock down, so be careful with the back pats and nudges).

Heavy fluffy blankets, cozy environment and good company is something that can't go wrong! But even walks in the rain or hikes in the snow is enough as well!

Why does he need all this? He sounds like a weirdo.

Well, buckaroo, it's because he is. However:

We all can be weirdos, so much that it is pretty normal when it's thought about. Us human beings have our needs, wants and flaws.

Your point?

My point is:

it is okay to get help, to be comforted, to vent and to cry. Let's be weird together and create stuff that has a positive effect for others and ourselves (because we are just as valuable!)

Now then, how about I fetch us all some hot coco and warm blankets?
