First & Last Lines

WIP game: coffee shop au, please!

(All of these look really interesting! 👀)

I'm not completely happy with the execution, but the basic Idea is a Coffee Shop AU (duh), probably no Powers, where Clint, Maya Lopez, Bucky and probably others work in a Café that specializes in accessibility. It's close to the University and Foggy has been going there for a while. He recommended it to Matt mostly because he's trying to set him up with Clint and that's where the story starts right now.

Like I said, I'm not happy with it yet and I still have to figure out the logistics and accommodations a Café like that would need.

But anyway, here's the first few paragraphs:

On a cold morning in early December, Clint was standing behind the counter of Double Shot Coffee. The typical morning crowd was already mostly gone, and Clint finally had a moment to drink his own coffee and chat with his coworker. Bucky had taken over the morning shift for Maya, and since their schedules usually didn’t line up, they had a lot to catch up on. While complaining about a professor who wouldn’t stop bugging him, Bucky stopped mid-sentence and signed "Bell." Clint looked over to the door and saw a young man enter. He was wearing a warm winter coat and dark-tinged glasses. At first, Clint was confused about the sunglasses on a cloudy day until he noticed the white cane the man was holding in his gloved right hand. He frowned and turned to complain to Bucky, but the latter was on his way to one of the tables to help a customer. Clint didn’t have a choice but to take the new guy's order himself. It wasn’t that he had a problem with blind people, because he really didn’t. The thing was just that he really didn’t want to talk today. He took a long sip of his coffee, preparing to talk to the guy. As usual, he didn’t wear his hearing aids; the café specialised in accessibility, after all, so he didn’t need them most of the time. The only times when he regretted being so uncomfortable just talking to his customers were situations like right now, when he had blind customers and no one was around to deal with them but him.

Life's not fair and everything sucks

Stucky AU: Spa Day

Steve was given a gift certificate for a spa day by Sam and Natasha (they regularly told him off for being a workaholic). It sat in a drawer, forgotten, until he had a particularly long week and decided to finally cash it in.

There he met Bucky, one of the massage therapists. Steve became a regular at the spa and would always request him.

Those around Steve started to notice how much happier he was and that he was taking better care of himself, not overworking so much. His friends gift had worked just not in the way they anticipated. It wasn’t because of his spa visits or even the massages he received.

It was getting to see Bucky.

Bucky looked forward to their sessions too and he couldn’t help feeling a little smug and proud that he could always feel Steve’s stress melt away under his fingertips.

And maybe it had something to do with how his heart pitter-pattered whenever he saw him.

Why Flight Edition? Well - January 5th is National Bird Day! Why? "National Bird Day is a celebration of the wonder of birds and a time to raise awareness about the many threats that bird species face on a daily basis. Birds have long captured the imagination of humans as they effortlessly soar through the skies. It is no wonder that so many people have become either professional or amateur ornithologists (people who study birds). While birds may seem to live carefree lives, many of their natural habitats are under attack. Additionally, poaching and the illegal wildlife trade threaten many bird species. With these factors in mind we need to do everything that we can to protect our birds and their environments." [1]

Basically.... Because they're beautiful and majestic creatures, and we didn't want to lean into the whole 'winter' theme again, because it's not winter everywhere! So... Take Flight! <3

The resplendent quetzal lives in tropical forests in southern Mexico and Central America - and their population is decreasing. They've been given 'Near Threatened' status. Look at that fuzzy little head, and that MAJESTIC tail!
