ed zitron, a tech beat reporter, wrote an article about a recent paper that came out from goldman-sachs calling AI, in nicer terms, a grift. it is a really interesting article; hearing criticism from people who are not ignorant of the tech and have no reason to mince words is refreshing. it also brings up points and asks the right questions:
if AI is going to be a trillion dollar investment, what trillion dollar problem is it solving?
what does it mean when people say that AI will "get better"? what does that look like and how would it even be achieved? the article makes a point to debunk talking points about how all tech is misunderstood at first by pointing out that the tech it gets compared to the most, the internet and smartphones, were both created over the course of decades with roadmaps and clear goals. AI does not have this.
the american power grid straight up cannot handle the load required to run AI because it has not been meaningfully developed in decades. how are they going to overcome this hurdle (they aren't)?
people who are losing their jobs to this tech aren't being "replaced". they're just getting a taste of how little their managers care about their craft and how little they think of their consumer base. ai is not capable of replacing humans and there's no indication they ever will because...
all of these models use the same training data so now they're all giving the same wrong answers in the same voice. without massive and i mean EXPONENTIALLY MASSIVE troves of data to work with, they are pretty much as a standstill for any innovation they're imagining in their heads
Sorry for all the reblogs op but I can’t help it they’re too adorable
Post-Watching and Dreaming,
Tired but relieved, time to rest and heal 😴
a little detail i find interesting is that wednesday has no qualms about telling people that she and tyler kissed but she veeeery carefully words it "tyler kissed me". idk homegirl i was there and it didnt look like it was tyler who barged into the coffee shop after closing hours. shes so funny.
Me holding onto tiniest bit of faith for my ships. Like man. If I can't have wyler AT LEAST PETROCLAIR LIKE CMON PLEASE.
I know wylers and petroclairs don't really make ourselves heard as much as wenclairs. But theirs is make believe from a sister like bond. Idk how yall see more. No offense.
Me upon realizing they are literally me and my SO🙃

WEDNESDAY AND TYLER WORKING TOGETHER TO SOLVE A NEW MYSTERY!! WEDNESDAY BREAKING HIM OUT OF WILLOWHILL!!! PLEASE!!!!
I love just how unbothered she looks at Hyde Tyler...
She just like, "Really, we're doing this again?" 😒
But more importantly...HOW DID HE GET OUT OF HIS HOLDING CELL?
DID WEDNESDAY LET HIM OUT??
I really appreciate the clarification that your specific land-crawling sharks DO in fact like to eat humans (as currently existing sharks do not in fact like to eat or bite humans and it really pisses me off when people assume all sharks operate by Jaws Logic and are bloodthirsty monsters)
You have to choose a new animal to exist on earth right now but it HAS to be both as aggressive and dangerous to humans as a hippopotamus.
AJR is so fun and silly until you still lie awake at night thinking about “I gotta get better I’m all that I’ve got” after over a year
I mostly just obsess over fictional characters, reblog ship art, and post the pictures I take of cool animals. Enjoy.
