terfs be like. i am going to tell you how to spot a trans woman. okay so if you think a woman is ugly you should harass them. this is beneficial to women
My dudes
Don’t think of the strike as “wah i’m not getting my shows”.
Think of it as “If they don’t - I’LL NEVER GET ANY SHOWS AGAIN”.
Because, you know, they won’t be there to write them. Because they can’t eat nothing. They can’t write if they have no laptops. Or houses. Or electricity. Or paper. Or pens. Which all funnily enough cost money.
Pay them what they’re worth - or they can’t afford to keep working.
And then no one gets what they want.
Every time there's something about "straight passing" couples being not experiencing homophobia then bi people get pushed further away from their rightful community. Also this idea that trans men can perfectly pass and gain all privelages of a cis man.
People really need to take a good look at how much emphasis they place on the supposed "privelages" that someone who appears more cis and straight or male has over other LGBT people.
"Passing" in any way is entirely conditional and can be taken away the instant something slips or a stranger scrutinizes you enough. Walking on eggshells and hoping you aren't found out and risk facing violence is not this great privelage you may think it is.
Remember the trans panic defense? That realizing a sexual partner is trans is used as a defense to murder them? So they "passed" until they didn't, and it actually led to them being killed. Passing did not protect them.
Also there's this idea that any couple that appears to be man + woman will never get clocked as queer. That they can never be queer. That bisexuals don't have the same level of queerness as a lesbian woman or a gay man. But they do. They can be flamboyant, butch, femme, anything that any other queer person can be.
life actually gets better when you leave the house consistently btw like im serious
cis women if you call yourself a trans ally but the concept of trans people with uteri disappears from your mind the second you start talking about reproductive autonomy your trans allyship is bullshit and so is your intersectionality. you have no fucking clue how terrifying it is to be trans with a uterus right now. you have no idea how many trans people suffer and die because of trans erasure in healthcare language. we see you talking about respecting pronouns while talking about "women's bodies" and "but if MEN could get pregnant–" either put the words "people who can get pregnant" and "reproductive transphobia" on your tongue or shut the fuck up.
I saw a video that said lgbtq people in public are constantly trying to navigate being true to themself and pleasing cishet people for safety and often in lgbtq only spaces were constantly worried about what a cishet person would think and thats how we get queer discorse. and I think about that a lot.
Ok but like actually DNI if you support the death penalty. Yes there are people who deserve to die for their crimes. No there isn’t a court in existence that should be given the power to decide who those people are
As the UN has released a statement on the UK and it’s hostility to LGBTQI+ rights, we just paid for a 2 billion pound funny hat ceremony, people are freezing and starving, our NHS is being pummeled into the ground, our third prime minister we didn’t vote for, and no one can afford to travel or rent, I have to ask: what is there to be proud of in the UK anymore?
Not something an individual country has done. What point is there in the UK anymore?
Trans people are still allowed to be happy, still sexy, still worthy of life and prosperity, still allowed to be imperfect gross and normal people, still allowed to find themselves, still allowed to be selfish and still allowed to survive and be remembered.
Always were. That will never change.
I'd pretend to be shocked, but we all knew this investigation was political theater meant to only grab headlines and reinforce the narrative to people who don't pay much attention to the news that Trans People Bad.
Like, the damage is already done. I find little comfort in knowing what I think most of us on the pro-trans already knew: medical professionals are extremely careful and follow the already very strict guidelines when providing care for the extremely small population of transgender children.
Because the narrative has been fully dictated by the anti-trans side, the idea that our medical care is some how experimental (when it's been around for almost a century in some cases), dangerous, or will cause massive regret (when trans affirming care has lower regret rates than knee and hip surgery).
