I saw a video that said lgbtq people in public are constantly trying to navigate being true to themself and pleasing cishet people for safety and often in lgbtq only spaces were constantly worried about what a cishet person would think and thats how we get queer discorse. and I think about that a lot.
I think we're all really scared right now. If you live in a high risk area, and if you can, make sure you have all your important documents where you can easily access them, get a passport, etc. Make preparations if you potentially have to get out.
As the UN has released a statement on the UK and it’s hostility to LGBTQI+ rights, we just paid for a 2 billion pound funny hat ceremony, people are freezing and starving, our NHS is being pummeled into the ground, our third prime minister we didn’t vote for, and no one can afford to travel or rent, I have to ask: what is there to be proud of in the UK anymore?
Not something an individual country has done. What point is there in the UK anymore?
Ableism and fatphobia spin around in circles. Can't say this enough.
Many people gain weight after becoming disabled/chronically ill due to being forced into a less active lifestyle, and losing weight becomes harder and harder when physical activities become more and more challenging. We get put on medications that have weight gain side effects. Some of us women go into premature menopause, which also leads to weight gain and slower metabolism.
The next fatphobic ableist who tells any of us to diet and exercise owes my dog a femur to gnaw on.
one thing that really bothers me in the conversations about transandrophobia is how people imply that infantilization isn't a Big Deal.
The posts I've seen argue that being infantilized just hurts feelings and trans men/mascs just have to get thicker skin.
This is so incredibly hurtful for so many reasons. I want to think more on it and add to this post later but I just wanted to get it out there that the idea that infantilization is just hurt feelings and doesn't lead to loss of body autonomy and rights makes me want to scream
“ The odds of guessing a four-digit passcode are 1 in 10,000, and tools have been used to crack iPhone codes in the past. Apple says the chances of someone having a similar enough fingerprint to unlock a person’s phone is 1 in 50,000, and a similar enough random face tricking Face ID is 1 in 1,000,000 “
that’s a really funny way of framing it, to make it look like passcodes are weak. you know what’s twice as good as the odds given for fingerprints? a 5 digit passcode! what’s equal to the odds given for Face ID? a 6 digit passcode! every time you add a digit, you multply those odds by 10.
and that’s assuming simple numeric passcodes. the odds of guessing a 4 digit, case-sensitive, alphanumeric passcode would be a 1 in 14.7 million. 5 digits is over 1 in 916 million, 6 digit is 1 in 56.8 billion. if you throw in 32 common symbols, we get 1 in 78 million, 1 in 7.3 billion, and 1 in 689 billion. those numbers climb pretty quickly the more digits you add.
i know these aren’t the only issues with passcodes (like 24% of americans using a variation of just 8 common passcodes), but if you’re trying to push people to biometrics i guess you wouldn’t really care for that nuance anyway
sending love out tonight to everyone who is progressively losing their abilities, whether that's movement, ability to walk, eyesight, or hearing.
it's hard to come to terms with the fact that you can't do things that you used to be able to do. I'll be honest, it feels like you're losing control of your life. it can feel very isolating and hopeless. its scary and overwhelming, and it's so hard to deal with.
you are not less than just because you can do less. im proud of you for still being here, and i wish you ease with adjusting to new ways of life. please take care of yourself, i love you.
Why do we as a society keep coming back to sex jokes?
Penis blast hilarious
Happy Spaghetti Day y'all
still believe that one of the greatest bits of all time was on January 6th, 2021 when. well. you know. and twitter was understandably an echo chamber of panic and fear and Justin McElroy just tweeted a selfie with a filter that was like “have a delicious national spaghetti day” followed by 3 tweets that were like “fuck. i’m sorry. i don’t know how to delete scheduled posts” and as i type this two years later i’m laughing
i honestly don't think it gets talked enough about how gay men can have a very nuanced relationship with gender, complex genders, and "contradictory" identities a lot of the time. i think a identifying as a man only gets forced on to gay men a lot these days, but so many gays identify as nonbinary, transfem, women, bigender, genderfluid, genderqueer, gnc, a crossdresser, a lesbian, and many more things. i love you, gays with weird genders
