As of July 4th 2018, the Internet as we know it might be dead for good. 

The European Parliament is passing a new Copyright Directive.  Article 13 #CensorshipMachine will impose widespread censorship of all the content we share online. Art, fanfiction, parodies, remixes, mashups, memes, etc.. Anything that you do not hold the rights over will be taken down. 

Article 13 would force all online platforms to police and prevent the uploading of copyrighted content, or make people seek the correct licenses to post that content. Internet platforms hosting large amounts of user-uploaded content must monitor user behaviour and filter their contributions to identify and prevent copyright infringement. 

Such filters will be mandatory for platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit and Instagram, but also much smaller websites.

This doesn’t just affect Europe. The content creators you love are going to be in hot water for sharing their art and writing with you online. Any and all content that doesn’t belong to us will be filtered. Even memes are at risk, as the person who took the original photo may want to file complaints against any platform that allows it to be used without permission. But it goes even further than that.

Last Tuesday (19th June 2018) a group of more than 70 people who have played important roles in building the internet and developing it (Tim Berners-Lee, Vincent Cerf, Jimmy Wales, Mitchell Baker…) into what it is today addressed an open letter to the members of the European Parliament:

“As creators ourselves, we share the concern that there should be a fair distribution of revenues from the online use of copyright works, that benefits creators, publishers, and platforms alike.

But Article 13 is not the right way to achieve this. By requiring Internet platforms to perform automatic filtering all of the content that their users upload, Article 13 takes an unprecedented step towards the transformation of the Internet from an open platform for sharing and innovation, into a tool for the automated surveillance and control of its users. […] The damage that this may do to the free and open Internet as we know it is hard to predict, but in our opinions could be substantial.”

Europe is facing a huge problem, and unlike with Net Neutrality, the world doesn’t seem to care. 

The signs in relationships (some are based off people I know)

Aries: Quite shy. Likes to hold hand and kiss. PDA is their thing, but they don't like to shove their relationship in people's faces. Flirts a lot and teases but doesn't even realise it.

Taurus: Has such an unbelievably big heart, it's kind of overwhelming. Extremely protective over their partner, loves affection and feeling a sense of worth.

Gemini: Enjoys relationship as much as they can. Worries about their partner and makes sure that they have everything that they need. Likes affection, including a little PDA (usually just holding hands). Isn't possessive but likes others to know that their partner is theirs. Emotional, needs to be assured sometimes that it's going to be okay and that they can do it. Overall a loving partner and a very caring person.

Cancer: Usually very shy. Likes to make sure that the other person is okay and having a good day, makes it their mission to ensure their partner is feeling as good as possible. Enjoys the feeling of knowing that they've helped their partner. Blushes easily and gets flustered a lot when their partner says cute things.

Leo: Ball of shyness. Isn't an 'out going person' but will protect their partner with EVERYTHING that they have. Is shy with giving affection (usually says compliments weirdly), likes to spend time with other person, doesn't feel the need to hold hands and hug constantly. VERY shy kisser, eye contact is a rare thing, but overall Leos are caring and just want the best for both them and their partner. Also a bit of a worrier.

Virgo: More like best friends with their partner than a partner. Likes to mess around and have a joke. Isn't keen on PDA but enjoys affection and romance at home.

Libra: Enjoys dates. They don't have to be big like going out for a meal, they enjoy little things like walks in the park or going to a cafe.

Scorpio: Thinks matching outfits are really cool. Will high five you when you want to hold their hand and then laugh. Smiles into kisses. Falls asleep on their partner in films.

Sagittarius: Likes to feel a sense of need - wants to make sure that their partner is having a good day and will go to mad lengths to make sure that if their partner isn't okay, they can cheer them up. Shy with kissing, but loves to cuddle and hold hands. Has this HUGE THING about nicknames. Loves nicknames. Has at least nine for their partner.

Capricorn: Loves cuddles. Likes being playing and doing silly little things. LOVES SELFIES. Some are nice but they'll mainly make their partner take silly ones with them.

Aquarius: Very protective. Know their partner perfectly. Knows when they need space, when they need comfort, knows when they need something or when they want something. Enjoys giving and receiving little gifts and also loves to make out.

Pisces: Isn't HUGE on affection and PDA, but likes to know that their partner is okay. Bit of a joker, likes to prank partner and can sometimes not know when to stop. Extremely sweet and likes to know the feelings they have are returned.
