ao3 wrapped 2022 ( questions not by me, just some i found but wanted to answer bc why not! )

1. how many words have you written this year?

not all of this is on ao3, but calculating it up, i’ve written about 67,000 words this year! specifically: 2k from the haunting of sunshine girl, about 10k from born in blue, 20k for a wip band story, 10k from russian roulette, 7k combined for some unrelated brian stuff, 2k for a lost story, 3k for a hannibal/prodigal son crossover, 7k combined for bates motel stuff, 3k for another lost post-canon story, 2k for a scooby doo story, 1k for a there will be blood fic, aaaand…i think that’s it! a lot more than i thought, that’s for sure lol.

2. how many works did you publish this year?

in total, i published 12 works! in order of date, they are: russian roulette, the new and improved security system, born in blue, my 6 shoegaze fics, change (in the house of flies), broken by bloodied hands, and end song. most of these were published on my side ao3 account rather than my main.

3. what work are you most proud of?

out of fics i’ve written this year, i think i’ve got to say russian roulette. it was a really fun story to write and i’m proud of some of the research i did into it, as well as my motivation and pushing myself to complete it! i rarely complete fics, so it’s a welcome change and makes me really proud of the fic and myself!

4. what work of yours has the most hits?

i’ve got a secret harry potter fic from 2020 that has 17,000 hits as of now!

5. what work of yours got more feedback than expected?

definitely my there will be blood fic. i wasn’t expecting a whole lot of feedback but i got a good amount of praise for it, so that made me really happy!

6. favorite title you’ve used

oooo, this is a hard one…i’d have to say “shoegaze,” only because it fits with the story’s themes so well and has a double meaning! it’s the title of my original band story, and i’ll go ahead and explain the meaning. shoegaze is a genre of music that’s prominent in the story as well as an inspiration for it; this is the genre of music the band plays in the book. the double meaning is that the main character is often gazing at his shoes / looking down because of the abuse he’s suffering at the hands of another character. i came up with this on a whim but loved the idea!

7. if you used song lyrics, which artists’s songs did you pull from the most?

ha, this is an easy one. not song lyrics necessarily, but all of the work titles from my series “shoegaze” are song titles from a band called the brian jonestown massacre. they’re my favorite band and the main inspiration for the story, so i had to do them some justice of course! besides them, i’d say for song lyrics, probably alex g!

8. pairing you wrote the most for this year?

i don’t usually write romance, usually focusing on gen stories so that the audience can interpret it any way they want, but a pairing i wrote the most is probably neil mccormick & brian lackey! again, gen pairing, can be seen as pre-slash or romantic though. i also wrote about the same amount of words for john watson & sherlock holmes, so either one really. as for original stuff, definitely my characters knox ford/silas lowell.

9. favorite pairing you wrote for this year?

gonna have to say neil mccormick & brian lackey. those two are just so fun and i can’t get enough of their relationship, and i think i’ve got a pretty good grasp on them as characters.

10. what work was the quickest to write?

the quickest work i finished was my there will be blood fic; i wrote it in about an hour. my quickest, longest finished work is russian roulette ; it took me about a week and a half to finish! as i started it around new years 2021 and finished it on january 10, 2022. my quickest, longest work that isn’t completed is born in blue - i wrote the first 20k words in 5 days.

11. what work took you the longest to write?

most of them. my longest-running current fic is between the haunting of sunshine girl (started in 2019, has 187k words) and bound to stars (started in 2016, has around 90k words).

12. how many wips do you have in your docs for next year?

oh god, this question pains me. i’ve got about 24 wips in my docs that need to be completed / worked on…

13. what’s your longest work of the year?

shoegaze! coming out to about 20k words written. my longest completed work is russian roulette, at 10k words.

14. what’s your shortest work of the year?

my there will be blood story, coming out to around 1k words.

15. what wip are you taking into next year with you?

like, all of them.

16. what’s your most common “additional tags” tag?

unsurprisingly, this would be ‘angst.’

17. your favorite character to write this year?

that’s a tough call between brian lackey and my original character, knox ford. both are super fun to write and have a lot of angst behind them…i honestly don’t think i can choose!

18. the character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

definitely will graham. trying to beat him into submission with my words doesn’t work - he’s a hard character to get down. his complexities make him nearly impossible for me to truly say, “yeah, that’s what he’d do.” so, will graham, i love you, but you suck to write.

19. what’s one pairing you want to explore next year?

oooo…another difficult question. i definitely want to keep exploring brian lackey & neil mccormick, probably the most, only because i love them so much. but knox ford/silas lowell is also a really interesting one to explore, so maybe them as well!

20. which work of yours have you reread the most?

without a doubt, russian roulette.

21. how many kudos in total did you get this year?

adding it all up, i got 321 kudos this year!

22. which work has the most comments?

russian roulette! coming out to 9 comments in total.

23. did you do any collaborative works this year?

unfortunately not, but i’ve really wanted to! maybe someday i can do a collab with another writer, it’s just a matter of finding someone who wants to lol. and shares a fandom with me, of course.

no, i didn’t.

nope!

26. what’s your most common category?

gen! like i said earlier, i don’t write a whole lot of pairings mainly because i either have a hard time fully shipping the characters, like them in a more platonic way, and/or want the audience to be able to make their own choice about the characters’ relationship. that doesn’t mean i haven’t written romance, though!

27. what do you listen to while writing?

i either have playlists for the characters i’m writing, or i have one of my own playlists i’m listening to that i feel fits the vibe of the story. i’ve listened to the brian jonestown massacre a lot, and also the mysterious skin soundtrack. maybe a little too much.

28. favorite work you wrote this year?

as i’m so proud of it, it would have to be russian roulette! that’s a bit of a hard choice though.

29. most bookmarked fandom?

i replaced this question because the original one, “what line/passage is your favorite this year”, was too difficult. so! my most bookmarked fandom is the avengers/mcu, actually. merlin is a close second, and daredevil comes in third!

30. biggest surprise while writing this year?

probably how much i can write when angst is involved. it didn’t take me that long to finish 20k words for my shoegaze book, and that was all angst / outsider pov stuff. which is my favorite. so i think that!

Hey, hey! Friendly reminder to make sure your supposedly “fearless” character gets their darkest fear revealed in the worst way possible so they break down into a vulnerable shaking mess in front of all the people they care about 

screaming crying & throwing up again cause i saw some post a while back about how when scully makes teasing jokes w mulder he always stops and processes before reacting cause he’s never had a friendship like that before….. and like let’s be honest aside from the lone gunmen he doesn’t rly have friends. scully on the other hand, at the beginning of the show, is seen to have friends and socializes but mulder is v much a loner . so scully is probably one of the first friends he’s made in a long while, treats him with a mix of kindness and mirth that he is unused to . and then thinking about the amount of times throughout the show where they refer to each other as their “friend” rather than partner or anything else… like even when they’ve gotten far beyond the point where both their romantic feelings towards each other are obvious, they still sometimes choose the word friend over everything else. even in the iconic touchstone constant scene: “you were my friend and you told me the truth” ……….. like i am going to start crying she is his FRIEND!!!!! he has been so alone for so long and then she comes around and she is a partner and a teammate and sometimes something else but above all that, most importantly, she’s his friend . :’)

saw these two comments on some bjm vids and they spoke to me so much i had to post them here and save them forever. literally, these people put into words what i’ve been unable to express, so please take these comments and know this is how i feel about bjm

i think discovering a new bjm song i love is better than any high. literally cannot stress how much serotonin i feel the moment i hear a song i just KNOW i’m going to obsess over. as of now, the song in question is “be song.” makes me want to cry or smthing but at the same time like jam out idk. i really just feel so many things with bjm’s music that cannot be explained, and i wish i could adequately describe WHY i adore them so much, but it’s so hard to put into words. it’s an indescribable feeling of home and belonging, like something i’ve been searching for my entire life yet didn’t even know i needed until i heard their music for the first time. and like, bjm is something of mine. i discovered them on my own. it is purely the music spotify decided i would need based on my previously played songs, and for that, i only have the spotify gods and myself to thank.

that post-high moment when you realize there’s no one else to talk about bjm with, it’s not the 90s anymore, you’ll never get a cassette of the original pol-pot’s pleasure penthouse, “fade” will most likely forever be a lost track, and dig! is an 18 year old documentary on a band that no one cares about. why do i always do this lol. i think dead/obscure fandoms just call to me. perhaps it is the universe’s way of punishing me. what did i do in my past life to deserve this

back on the bjm train?? what can i say, I never really left it. anyway, i’m here to list my (current) top 10 brian jonestown massacre songs bc i feel like it. if you feel like listening along, just click the link on the title of each song to check it out! also, these are in no particular order if anyone was wondering.

hide and seek — uh yeah this is my favorite bjm song to ever exist maybe ever. like, i am in love with this song. if this song turned into a person, i would marry them, because i simply will never get over it. every single day i listen to it because, somehow, it fits every emotion i’ve ever had in my entire life. also, it’s shoegaze, so even better. really, though, any version of this song is wonderful and deserves to be listened to on full volume. the chorus makes me want to kick something and start flying and maybe go to another universe because it’s so unreal how good it is. i wish i could describe it in words, but it’s something that cannot be seen and can only be heard. “we play hide and seek…we play peekaboo.” truly the best lines. i cannot stress how much ecstasy i feel from hearing these words spoken in the background of the chorus. amazing. just amazing.

e to g — otherwise known as “rotary eight,” but was originally titled e to g. a literal shoegaze CLASSIC, one of bjm’s best 90s songs. this song simultaneously makes me want to start weeping and screaming at the same time because i love it so much. it makes me emotional, yet also happy. i simply cannot explain it. anton’s voice is so angelic, it makes me tear up just a little thinking abt it. i will never get over this song. it’s the epitome of my soul. it is everything. it simply must be experienced and felt to even begin to understand it.

chameleons — another classic from pol-pot’s pleasure penthouse (my second favorite album). the first time i heard this song i literally cried. i think the post from that night is somewhere on my old tumblr. anyway, this song feels like a warm hug from your best friend, like someone you really care about is comforting the hell out of you. i genuinely can’t describe it, as is becoming the norm for this list, but seriously. it’s difficult to put into words how much this song means to me. i just know this is one of the best tracks on its album. it wouldn’t be a certified shoegaze classic if wasn’t unreleased!

that quiet song — if you couldn’t already tell, i’m on a bit of a shoegaze binge, but what can i say? that’s my favorite genre of bjm music (and what i believe to be their best music). anyway, this song makes me feel…many different things. it’s so nostalgic to me, like i’ve heard it before, but at the same time i don’t know where i ever would’ve listened to it in my childhood. no one else in my family knows bjm. but it’s so familiar! i think that’s why i’m so drawn to the song. also, it makes me really emotional and gives me a feeling of closeness to the band, like i’m at one of their concerts in the early 90s, when they still weren’t super well known. it’s a look into the past that makes me appreciate bjm so much for what they’ve accomplished. it’s just a beautiful song. nothing more needs to be said.

super-sonic — taking a bit of a turn from the shoegaze comes this certified dandy warhol-turned-bjm banger. the intro is so good i’m kicking my feet just listening to it. the drums, the beat, the visualization of this being played in concert. so amazing. i have no words for how much i fucking love this song. it makes me want to get up and dance and scream the lyrics without a care in the world. if you ever see me grooving along to a song with my earphones on, just assume it’s this one.

cabin fever — FUCK, i think this song made me love matt hollywood and everything he’s ever produced in bjm. but like, seriously, this song is so good and the fact that it does sound somewhat uplifting but also has this slightly sad part to the music, giving hint to the fact that the lyrics are about depression and wanting to die!!! sign me up for real. the guitar riff is just SO good throughout this entire song, and the vocals are so amazing and i rlly just like everything here.

got my eye on you — this is a newfound favorite of mine. i heard it from a youtube vid of one of their live shows and literally fell in love! the beat is so jammable and i absolutely LOVE joel’s part during the middle, him just randomly singing/talking is so great. every time i hear this song i wish i was at one of their concerts bc this one must be THE SONG to hear live. so here’s to hoping i hear it next time!

spanish bee — oh my god this song makes me go feral. first off, the beginning being completely done with sounds from anton is so cool! the mic being tilted, crowd cheering, the person talking etc. but then you get to the actual song and oh my goodododifhdbeh it’s SO GOOD. i really enjoy music like this in general, and anton’s voice in this song is probably the best i’ve ever heard it. his singing is so good, just really raw and raspy and genuinely beautiful and yeah idk man it’s so enjoyable. i kind of wish there were more songs where anton could show off his natural voice and singing ability because, clearly he does have that shit. maybe not in the typical music setting, but i really do just love his voice here. also, the guitar makes me want to start like dancing idek it feels like some shit that would play at a family party or something. i just adore it sm. give it a listen!! especially if you like folk music.

not if you were the last dandy on earth — ever since i witnessed that wonderful scene in dig!, i’ve absolutely adored this song. anton clumsily rollerskating up to a dandy warhols show with signed copies of this song is just unbelievably hilarious. iconic, honestly. plus, this song fucking rocks. blasting this driving around is absolutely the vibe, maybe the biggest vibe there’s ever been. i have nothing more to say except that this is one of their songs i listen to every day and there’s a huge reason for that!

food for clouds — this song will always be one of my favorites. i’ve never met a person i couldn’t win over with this song, simply because it’s so jammable. the mixture of the cowbell, tambourine, drums, guitar riff, and trumpet just does something to people. i’ve witnessed it myself. for real though, this song is a complete banger; it’s different from their more rock sounding songs and has more of an alternative kinda feel. but listen to it yourself and judge! and if this doesn’t begin to indoctrinate you into bjm idk what to say </3

and, lastly, an honorable mention:

anemone — of course, i can’t make this list without at least giving an honorable mention to anemone. while not my favorite bjm song of all time, i can acknowledge that it is, objectively, one of their best songs. hearing this at the concert was an amazing experience, seriously! i really do love it though, like, it’s such a classic and i appreciate it so much. actually, it’s the first bjm song i ever heard, and looking back is so surreal. i can’t imagine where i’d be if spotify hadn’t randomly played this song after one of my playlists ended. i still remember exactly where i was when i heard it, around what time of day it was…crazy. i just gotta thank the spotify algorithm for playing this song, because without it, i think my life would be a whole lot more miserable right now.

The Jack Monster and The Smoke Mother

In yesterday’s article, I mentioned in passing that Jack turns into the Smoke Monster. This bit didn’t seem to fit the conceit of the piece, but apparently I should have included it, because everyone’s asking about it. I’ve added it into the article in an addendum, and I’m putting it here as well. I’ll try to keep it “brief” and “simple”, citing only information we were given in the show.

The Mother was the Protector of the Island.

The Mother explained to her sons that going into The Source would result in a fate worse than death (i.e.- Becoming a Smoke Monster).

The Mother destroyed the Man in Black’s village in a most Smoke Monstery of ways, seen here:

What I’m getting at here is that, as Protector of the Island, Mother both had the powers of Jacob, and was a Smoke Monster. She split her duties and powers between her two sons, and made it so they could not kill each other. It would make sense that the Protector of Important Magic Island would be the incredibly powerful cloud of black smoke that can read people’s memories and kill them in seconds. Rousseau was right: The black smoke IS a security system. A very important one, meant to patrol the Island and protect it for as long as it can. Mother was this being, and she also had the power of Jacob: to make rules, to give others abilities, etc. Full-on Island Protector.

But she couldn’t decide which was deserving of the role. She loved them both. So she made it so each would get a part of her. The Gray Mother split herself into dark and light. The problem here is that The Man in Black became the Smoke Monster. He became a security system that wanted to leave its post. That was problem with the Broken Island for so long: One of its protectors had no interest in protecting anything. Both protectors wanted the other dead, but neither could kill the other. Thankfully, Oceanic 815 crashed and Jack was eventually all “Fine, I’ll save the world.”

So. How are Smoke Monsters made? They dip themselves into The Source. Into the Water and Light. Jacob tossed his Brother down and then his Brother cracked his skull, fell into The Source, and emerged as the new Smoke Monster. Later, Jacob found his body draped over a nearby rock and tree:

The Water and Light absorbs the essence of a person and turns them into a Smoke Monster. But they don’t need the person’s body. So The Source moved the body outside.

So what happened to Jack in the finale? He went down to The Source. Desmond unplugged the Island and was unaffected because of his Magic Time Brain. Jack had to plug it up again, though, and the Water and Light DID affect him. He sacrificed himself because he knew the Water and Light would kill him.

But the Water and Light doesn’t kill you. We’ve SEEN what it does. It turns someone into a Smoke Monster, into a Protector of The Island. The person needs to be dead, though, as The Man In Black was dead when he reached The Source. Then it spits out the body. So after Jack was consumed by Light and Water, where did we next see him?

The same place The Man In Black showed up. (Forgive the quality of the picture, I just screencapped an edited montage from YouTube).

The Source spit Jack out once it absorbed his essence for Smoke Monstering. But Jack wasn’t dead yet. He was stabbed and bleeding, but not dead yet. Not like the Man in Black already was when he fell into The Source. So Jack walked into the reeds, lied down with a dog, and died. His eye closed.

Then, however many yards away, a new Smoke Monster burst from The Source. And this time, it was a Security System thatwantedto stay. One that even needed to stay. Jack’s whole arc of the show ended with himneedingto stay on the Island and to do whatever he could to protect it. He believed in the Island, and he believed that he belonged there. Now he was even more correct than he thought. Jack could now happily float around in his new form, helping Hurley clean up Jacob’s mess, and protect the Island he loved, in the form of something he once feared. He did this for many many years, until Hurley’s reign ended and they could both pass off their power and position to Walt, the next true Protector of The Island.

Now let’s go to the Sideways, where Jack keptalmostremembering his life. Every other character had one moment when they remembered everything that ever happened to them. Jack, on the other hand, needed several. A moment with Locke, a moment with Kate. He kept not quite being able to remember. Now, one could argue that this is just because he’s Jack. He’s stubborn and resistant, and just needed a while. However, he wasn’t that way in the Sideways. That was one of the main points in that world. Everyone had evolved and grown in their lives, and they displayed the traits they’d developed in their time on the Island. Sideways Jack was not as stubborn as Real Life Jack.

SO. What’s my point? Jack spent we-don’t-know-how-long as a Smoke Monster on the Island. It could have been years or decades or centuries. Hurley lived a life just as long, but he never changed forms. Hurley remained himself. Jack, however, was Smoke Monster Jack. We saw what being a Smoke Monster can do to a person. As Mother said, it can be “worse than death”. You lose some of yourself. You take the form of other people, you float around asblack smoke. Yes, its essence is you, but much of you is lost over the years.

Jack needed those extra pushes in the Sideways world, because he was so far away from it. He spent his life as Jack, but then he spent X amount of years as another entity. He lost a bit of himself, and each time Locke or Kate touched him in the Sideways, he got a little closer to remembering his life before the Smoke. He needed a drastic wake-up call like his father explaining everything to him in order to truly wake up from his life.

thinking about how many fic ideas i have that i will probably never write or complete, but like y’know these are good ideas and i want to put them down somewhere so i never forget them in the future. who knows, maybe someone else will pick them up, or maybe i’ll try my hand at one of these plots in a couple years. anyway just dropping these off here for me. enjoy (morgan from like 2027)

THE FINDER & PSYCH. a the finder and psych crossover; after sustaining a head injury, shawn wakes up in miami to a man who says he can find anything. but what if shawn doesn’t even remember who he is?

a fun little fic idea i had after watching the first couple seasons of psych. i realized how these two shows vibe so well with each other and both are so hysterical to me, literally some of the only shows that genuinely make me laugh. i can imagine leo finding shawn near the bar and bringing him in; then shawn wakes up to walter and leo peering down at him, pondering about who he might be. then shawn is like “gus?” and leo’s like “who’s gus?” then shawn pauses, says “i have no idea,” then passes out again. there could be a lot of fun stuff in this crossover.

NOMAD SPENCER REID. a criminal minds fic; a traumatic incident prompts spencer to quit the fbi, sell all of his possessions, and live life as a homeless nomad. three years later, when the bau tracks him down to assist on a case, he’ll have to come to terms with the trauma he endured and his own changes as a person—as will his old team.

this is a story that was heavily inspired by the movie into the wild. it’s actually one of my favorite movies, and the first time i watched it was a couple years ago, in the height of my criminal minds and spencer reid obsession. i loved the idea of reid having gone through something horribly traumatic, something that would be terrible enough to make him quit the bau. and living life as this lone wolf nomad, becoming comfortable amongst nature and animals, has made reid at this point realize how much of his life he’s missed out on, and how he truly wants to make the most of the time he still has left. so of course, introduce the team back in! :D

really though, the team would be hella concerned for reid, and bonus points if they have no idea why he quit or believe it was for a completely different reason (maybe he went through something traumatic but his mom also died? so they think it’s associated with his mother, not the other incident). i love that trope so much. scraggly looking and feral spencer …. i live for the image. i’ve written a bit for this au but most of it is honestly in my head. i still hold it dear to my heart though!

PROFILER FOX MULDER. a criminal minds and the x-files crossover; a year after the tragedy that ended with the death of dana scully and the subsequent closing of the x-files, fox mulder is sent to help the bau on a case that will not only affect the team, but also affect mulder and the carefully constructed life he’s built around himself.

maybe, possibly, one of my favorite aus ever. i’m a sucker for profiler!mulder and love the idea of exploring his grief, having lost scully during a case investigating a cryptid in oklahoma (iykyk). i’ve written a small amount for this au—about 5k words—and have a lot of ideas jam-packed into it, but basically the story is that, during an x-files case, scully is shot and killed in the woods by an unknown man. mulder is devastated and goes in and out of mental hospitals for the next year, before skinner lets him back in the fbi and lets mulder have his pick for reassignment, considering the x-files are now closed.

mulder chooses the bau (much to skinner’s chagrin), meets the criminal minds team, and is thrown into a case that will take him right back to his profiler days. the case could even be connected to past x-files or something to spice things up. but introducing krycek, skinner, the smoking man, and the lone gunmen to the world of criminal minds just sounds so fun. also, mulder torture! my favorite genre of xfiles fics! anyway, this is such a self-indulgent crossover but i absolutely adore it and hope to work on it a little more soon!

LOST SUPERPOWERED AU. a series of oneshots set in a superpowered universe of lost; no real story here, just connecting fics that somehow string together.

i came up with this idea a couple years ago after watching heroes, because oh my godddd the first season of that show is so much like lost it’s crazy!! anyway, i only have a couple of superpower ideas for the characters, but exploring those kinds of dynamics both on/off the island sounds super fun! i only recently remembered this au after finding an old doc about it, and i’ve come to realize that superpowered aus are my guilty pleasure…yeah. i just can’t help myself sometimes.

anyway, this is another one of those self-indulgent type stories and will probably forever remain an unfinished wip. still, i gotta add it to this list to share (alina) and also to remember for future me who would most likely forget if not.

WICKED BOARDING. a teen wolf and the maze runner au crossover; after getting rid of the nogitsune, stiles agrees with his father to be sent off to a boarding school far away from beacon hills. there, he rooms with a teen named newt, and together they begin to investigate and uncover the horrors at ‘wicked boarding.’

i wrote this idea down in the height of my teen wolf hyperfixation in early 2021. i’d recently watched the maze runner trilogy with my brother because it had dylan o’brien in it, who also, of course, plays my fav teen wolf character—stiles. anyway, i’d read a couple crossover fics between these two fandoms but really wanted to make my own thing, so i came up with wicked boarding!

the story would mainly center around stiles and his trauma, post-nogitsune. i kinda liked the idea of stiles’ middle name being thomas, bc then there would be a reason he’s called that by his friends at wicked. but it doesn’t really matter. anyway, it’s just a fun, angsty au at a suspicious boarding school with stiles and the maze runner characters. i have a doc about it but i haven’t actually written anything for the story. all i know is that stiles/newt is endgame.

OUTLAST AND ZOMBIES. an outlast and the walking dead crossover fic; after escaping from mount massive asylum, blake finds himself thrown into the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

after a failed roleplay, i kind of became absolutely hyperfixated with the idea of outlast and a zombie apocalypse. blake langermann is my favorite outlast character, and i have an au where outlast 2 actually takes place before the first game. that way, blake is sent to mount massive asylum after being found by the agents, held there for months until the incident we see in whistleblower.

mostly, i just think the idea of a very traumatized and mentally ill dude finally escaping his imprisonment, only to find that half the world has been turned into zombies, is so fun. also, i really like the walking dead, and so much could be done with either the shows or the game. i don’t really have much written for this au, but it definitely has a place in my heart, and is for sure something i’ll come back to every now and again to touch up on.

DARK HARRY POTTER. a harry potter au; kidnapped as a child due to a trauma caused by his abusive relatives, harry is raised as a ward to voldemort, told that dumbledore is out for him and actually framed voldemort for his parents’ deaths. as time goes on, harry slowly begins to piece together the abuse inflicted on him by the dursleys and the truth about dumbledore’s—and the order of the phoenix’s—agenda.

honestly, i kind of forgot about this au, but rediscovered it upon looking through my old docs. i really fell in love with this idea and absolutely love the thought of something traumatic happening to harry that would damage his magical core, thus damaging voldemort’s (in this au he has already been resurrected) as they are of course connected. somehow, voldemort would be able to kidnap / save harry from the dursleys and raise him as a ward, teaching him that their side is the good side, and that dumbledore wants to wrongly kill he and harry.

i have a bunch of ideas for this au, and honestly want to try to write it some day, but the thought of sitting down and planning a gigantic story such as this one makes me want to cry. also, i haven’t read the books in over ten years, and i have no idea if knowing the movie lore is enough to write an au about voldemort, horcruxes, and death eaters. like, where does voldemort even stay for most of the plot? does he have a castle? a secret underground bunker? i think i’d have to have someone help me with an undertaking such as this one. either way, harry potter means a lot to me, and i really really want to try to start this story some day. just...not today.
