A bit different but I did fanart for Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, specifically the 1981 TV adaptation, because I love it and it's my favourite show of all time :3 also because I met Peter Davison at Captial Sci-Fi Con in Edinburgh yesterday! Obviously he was Doctor Who, but he also played Dish of the Day so I asked him to sign a print, and I gave him another copy as a gift, so hopefully he likes it! He was super super nice!
Just watched Metropolis 1927. Great movie with a very iffy ending and extremely weird political messaging. Won’t go too in depth but I will say this
How the FUCK does this bisexual expect to do anything in those poofed up shorts 😭

There's a YouTube channel called Zauret Records. They put out "full albums" from whatever year (70s-80s) and under a fake artist's name, however, all the music is AI generated. Granted, they do admit it's fictional, but nowhere on the channel do they mention AI, so unless you go to their Instagram or Twitter, you will see no mention of AI. What's worse is they constantly pull in thousands of views. Please, whenever you find an artist/band, make sure you can find search results related to them from before 2023, or can in some other way verify that they are, in fact, human. Please reblog with any other YouTube channels or any kind of internet anything like Zauret Records so we all know who to stay away from.
saw this poster at my local trans resource center and cried
Hey, I think I'll search up the hashtag of a band I like! What could possibly go wrong?

one of my favorite things about the h2g2 series is how much arthur just does what other ppl want him to do. we don’t even really know what arthur actually wants bc everything he does—even the things he thinks he wants—is an idea put in his head by someone else. most of it is blatant, like ford telling arthur what to do or arthur following along with fenchurch, but the subtleties of douglas adams’ writing in regards to the things arthur ‘wants’ is so good. arthur’s internal dialogue tells him he wants this—he wants to stop traveling, he wants to settle down, he wants to go back to earth—but his actual behavior always betrays him. as soon as he gets what he ‘wants,’ arthur becomes bored. every time. he looks for the next distraction and clings to it. he’s never been happy on earth not once in the series, but he tells himself he is. it’s not like he’s happy out in space either though. when he tries settling down in mostly harmless he can’t bear it. he doesn’t stop traveling until he’s forced to and stuck on lamuella where he convinces himself for years that he’s happy there, but he only tries to convince himself bc he doesn’t think he has another option. it’s only when trillian arrives and informs arthur that there were always ppl out there who could’ve saved him but chose not to that arthur becomes upset about his situation.
i don’t think this behavior makes arthur suitable for hitchiking even though he’s good at it, but i think it’s about arthur’s concept of security. he does what he’s told bc it makes him feel safe. he held on to his robe for so long bc it made him feel secure. he grows attached to his wristwatch in mostly harmless bc it makes him feel tethered. arthur attaches himself to items or ideas that he believes are stable. arthur doesn’t need to settle down, he just needs security.
Sounds like a ridiculous question, I know, but think about it. They understand how it works. Would they even see it as magic? We have so many things that people would've seen as magic not too long ago. But we don't see them as magic, because we understand how it works. Or, at least, trust that it can be understood.
Also, I just think it would be hilarious that a wizard might roll their eyes at someone for thinking that they were doing magic, just because they were doing something as simple as conjuring a fire-ball, or shooting lightning from their finger-tips.
I can imagine every apprentice going through a phase of disillusionment early on in their apprenticeship. It happens so much that it gets named "Wizard's apprentice syndrome" or something like that.
There's even evidence of this in LOTR. When Galadriel shows Sam and Frodo the mirror, she tells them that they might call it magic, but she doesn't.
So, what do you think?
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I didn't want to be annoying on that post about the "Are we the triggered?" thumbnail, but... I've watched that video, and while I feel it is a bit rambly (it is almost a full hour in length) I did find it interesting. But I did learn something new when he started building his case for the inherent hypocrisy of anti-woke-ism using this meme:
He points out that in the video this is from, the woman is actually calmly arguing -with statistics- with another person. She just happened to make a funny face for one frame and now she's on a billion different YouTube thumbnails as the so-called "triggered feminist."
And to cap it off, he points out: "This clip originally was shown on the Alex Jones show. And we all know how calm and collected Alex Jones is at all times." (montage of many of Alex Jones' screams of rage)
I also liked this quote: "That's the double standard: This woman cannot afford to make a single frame of a funny face without her expression being immortalized in a billion thumbnails. But this guy can literally scream at the camera for 15 minutes because an RPG asked the preferred pronoun for his character. And he even uses her face in his thumbnails! Hypocrisy perfected."
had a dream that there was this new tiktok trend called "scrubbing" where people would take images of fictional characters and put them in images of bathtubs and drag around transparent pngs of soap and brushes with their tiktok art tablets and like liquify tool their hair down to mimic giving them a shower. and people would get into flamewars in the comments of every single video over the types of soap they picked and if the images had decently removed backgrounds and if they got soap in their eyes. and it got onto the news because it turned out everyone doing the trend was doing it compulsively like they physically couldn't stop and each video was a solid few minutes long because they were just collectively obsessively recording themselves fake-showering these fictional characters and arguing about it online
A few weeks ago I ran out of my antidepressants and I thought to myself: "let's see how long I can go without antidepressants" because I like challenging myself and I like doing difficult things
I cannot stress how bad this idea was. please do not be like me. I have gained nothing from this experience, I don't know what I was thinking I would gain. there is no glory in suffering
I should go take my meds
In case it wasn’t clear…
