once he gripped her tight, it felt as if she could breath. burying her head into his chest, eleanor took in his embrace. tears flooded her eyelids but she was too tired to make a noise, but for the first time she felt less anxious. shaking her head softly, her voice was muffled from how close she was to him. "don't, it's okay you don't need to be sorry." it was a mistake and she knew that. after taking some time to take him in, she pulled back and looked him in the eyes. "you don't need to be sorry, i could see it in your eyes. can you just stay with me? i need a bath and a cheeseburger." she admitted, feeling as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. "i missed you so much..."
nikolas was taken aback to say the least . when eleanor grabbed his hand something shifted inside him . it was like he felt himself come alive again , but how was this possible . it was a feeling of relief that rushed over him when he realized he wasn't going insane . " don't be sorry . " the realization that she was real changed something in the tribrid . and her confession about crawling out of a grave and being such a mess made him instantly wrap his arms around her . regardless of his fear of hurting her he couldn't bear being separated from her anymore . large arms held her tight . " god i missed you elle . . i'm so sorry . " he breathed . " i'm so . . so sorry . i should have been more careful i shouldn't have lost control . " he began to confessed .
after the newest faction meeting, hayley decided to scout the streets in her own way. taking people watching to the next step by using her hybrid abilities, she walked through crowds. it was clear who was human and who was supernatural, humans had no worry lines on their forehead. no one was really giving her any new details, a lot of them just anxious about the gruesome murders. still she kept going, getting lost in other conversations and not realizing the noise her body made, as it bumped into a loud chain-link fence. shaking her head, the hybrid realized that andrew was staring. "guess i got a little too caught up in other peoples business." a slight smirk covered her lips. "you doing okay andrew?"

rumor had it that there was a supernatural killer on the loose and those who were aware of the attack were on edge . it didn't help that the newbie vampire was attacked the moment he stepped in new orleans . but now there were actual murders happening in the city . heads severed and bodies bound and set on fire . this was enough to keep the redhead on guard , understanding that anything could happened at any given moment . andrew looked back when he heard a noise .
her eyes rolled at his comment about mothers, unable to stifle her laugh too much. the kid was smart, even if he wasn't being that way currently. hayley refused to answer his questions, until the woman was out of sight. then she stood in his view while giving a stern look. "i've seen you around my daughter." she admitted closing the space between them before glancing over at the body in the dumpster. if anything he was just like klaus and that made her even more nervous. "so we are going to have a small talk right now and honestly i don't need to hear much from you, but if you harm hope i will find you. so will her dad and honestly he can be scarier than me most days."
taking a step back, she gave laurie some space. "try to be more discreet with all this death. i don't think you are the serial killer, just some kid with a an appetite."
Laurie groaned, looking up. "God, this town is full of buzz kills, isn't it?" He looked at her with a crooked expression, "Can a guy not have a little drink without everyone and their mother interrupting?" Heaven forbid she looked into the dumpster. Still holding the barely living girl, he bit his wrist and forced it into her mouth, watching as her neck knit itself back together. Then, he spun her around and looked in her eyes. "Forget everything that's happened in the past twenty minutes. Go inside, collect your friends, and go home. And don't do anything reckless for the next few days, for god's sake." The woman nodded and marched back inside. Laurie found the interruption of a woman's face again. "Better?"
she knew something was wrong, from the moment she set foot on the property, her gut was telling her that this wasn't right. so when motives were revealed, the hybrid was ready to fight for her families survival. with claws and fangs at the ready, she made her way through hunters while remaining on the search for her children. her vision was altered, the only focus being each hunters heartbeat the rest blurred. she wasn't herself anymore, something else altogether, something she knew so well and yet tried to hide away. because she wanted to be better, for her children, for the people around her. that's why she joined the faction, to make sure that klaus didn't go too far when given so much power. to make sure that her children could then have some of their own and not worry about supernatural politics.
it was a long shot, she knew that it was going to take a lot of hard work to undo centuries of damage, but she'd try with all her might to make it right. she sensed him, way before he was ever in sight, all she saw was red until she placed a hand on his shoulder. meeting his angry glare, she rolled her eyes and smirked. blood covered her white gown, hair now messy, mask ripped off by some hunter long ago. "yeah we all know how much i enjoy playing by the rules." wiping the sweat off her brow, she gave him a look. "have you seen any of the kids?"

he despised surprises, especially those he hadn't meticulously orchestrated himself or those that threatened the safety of his loved ones. it was a point of pride that he hadn't threatened or killed anyone in a considerable time. yet ┈┈ as he watched the hunter dispatch vampires with impunity, he felt that familiar ┈┈ bloodthirsty urge surge within him, questioning if he had grown too soft over the years. no, of course he hadn't. but where once his instinct would have been to attack and kill with unrestrained pleasure ┈┈ he knew this time it wasn't an option.
instead ┈┈ he moved like a specter through the chaos, navigating the maelstrom of thrown bodies and pools of crimson staining the floors and linens of tables. his eyes darted through the crowd, desperately searching for his family. their safety was his only priority. a sudden hand on his shoulder made his hybrid senses flare ┈┈ eyes shifting to a dangerous black with golden irises peeking through the inky darkness. he turned, ready to strike.
"you," he growled, his features relaxing slightly as recognition dawned, eyes returning to their normal state before turning and continuing in the direction he was headed. "rule one in survival: don't sneak up on a hybrid, you should be familiar with this should you not?"
her eyes watched as kaya quickly shut the notebook, taking note to mention it later once getting a better understanding of what was going on in her daughters head. gabriela also knew that when their daughter wasn't facing them, it was easier to minimize the problems that plagued her mind. placing a soft kiss on kaya's head, gabi then rested her cheek in the same spot. "yeah, i get that. sometimes it's too much at once, but you'll make sense of it at some point. just takes time." a crowded brain was something the demon knew all too well, giving up your soul meant there was always something else lurking. something evil, wanting to only cause harm and she'd do everything in her power to never let it shine through.
"you know what helps me when i have a crowded mind?" she smiled, before quirking an eyebrow.
She closed her sketchbook abruptly and tossed it to the side as soon as saw her mom. Kaya had shown her mother quite a few of her works over the years, but never anything from the rough sketch stage, and definitely never anything that looked like a crime scene. In past years, her art had always been peaceful and calm, rolling waves and women looking over the coast line. Now they were tainted and wrong. When her mom hopped up on the ledge next to her, Kaya reflexively rested her head on their shoulder. "It's nothing, really," she said. It was so easy to hide her feelings, so easy to tuck them away. "Just struggling to get the right compensation. My head is... it's crowded."

dark magic could be felt all around the city, causing the siphoner to feel as if an icy chill wrapped around her body. it had been a long day at work, josie constantly getting off track far too often, unable to get any work done. normally, she loved her job but it just felt off. all she wanted was to go home and sleep. maybe even wake up and have this day completely washed away from her system.
making her way out of her office, a stack of papers held tightly to her chest as she twirled out in a rush. josie wasn't looking and ended up running right into someone else, papers flying everywhere while a groan escaped her lips. "oh just great!" getting on the ground, she began the process of picking everything up that needed to be filed before leaving.
EVERY FEMALE CHARACTER THAT I LOVE (in alphabetical order) JOSIE SALTZMAN - LEGACIES I was afraid of being strong. I thought being strong meant hurting Lizzie or being like Kai. I told myself that being powerful meant being evil. But it doesn’t. Hope is strong. And she’s good. You made a story, I made a story where I was powerless but that’s not true. Because I can change this story.
Ever since the first day that I met you, I have felt everything for you.
josie wiped the tears falling onto hope's cheek with her finger, doing her very best to be gentle and caring. the two of them didn't even really need to say anything, all of it had been said once they looked in each others eyes, but it still felt good to say it. for the siphoner, it felt as if the apology was long required, she'd write hope notes all the time only to burn them with the flick of her wrist. shaking her head slowly, she rested her palm on her sisters cheek and smiled. "me neither....what's worse is she isn't here in my head anymore and i can't seem to figure out why. she used to be there in the back of mind, but for the past few weeks, i can't feel her anymore."
taking a deep breath, she placed both hands on her lap. wanting to mention that even though lizzie wasn't in her mind, she was still felt. yet, there was a fear that mentioning it would send them on some mission only for the same outcome. so instead, she kept it to herself, waiting until she had proof. "did your mom come visit you in europe after i left? i'd hate to hear that you were alone..."
she'd toss and turn about it for months, unable to pick up the phone and call in fear of hearing the sorrow in the others voice. josie felt like a coward as she sat next to hope, it made her skin burn.
THE TRIBID HELD ON to her sister for dear life, pressing the siphoner to her as she felt her self exhale. being without josie for all of this time had proven to be ONE of the most heartbreaking things that had happened in her life time, the distance between them had been like losing a part of her soul and with such a large part of it gone already ( it had been buried with lizzie ) she hadn't been sure that she could make it through. the phrase ' there is always light at the end of a tunnel ' had begun to sound so incredibly cliche to her, that any mention of ' hope ' outside of her name felt like a SICK joke. and maybe she was too young to be so pessimistic but what else could she be? she had failed at keeping her PROMISE. and not just to josie, but lizzie too. failure did not settle well ⸺ call it a fallacy of being young, but maybe she'd bought into her own hype if only for a moment that staggeringly annoying confidence that ran in her family, had taken the limelight only to become extinguished just as fast as it was lit. she was EMBARRASED, and ashamed all reasons that stopped her from seeking josie out sooner. " there's nothing to forgive. " she assured the other, as she pulled back, hands placed on both of her arms, as she feared that the brunette would disappear as soon as she let go. " i shouldn't have... " a pause, tears formed in ocean colored eyes, and for once hope allowed them to fall. " i shouldn't have PROMISED what i couldn't keep. " she shook her head. " i'm so, sorry jo... " the disappointment in her tone was more than present, in fact it could be seen reflected in her the way she held herself. " i just can't... get used to a WORLD where she isn't here. "
finally, someone was willing to say something. eleanor took a deep heavy breath before walking closer to the man. "a lot lost." she admitted before rubbing her eyes, ever since leaving the graveyard her vision had been blurry. all of her bones ached and each muscle felt as if it was stuck, like she was a tin person who lacked oil. "i need a phone and i don't have any money, but i need to talk to my fiancee." she also needed a shower, water, and food, but the main worry was always nikolas.
Coffee mug in hand, Damon trots down the steps of his porch for the morning paper. He takes stock of the lawn care ads, grocery store coupons, and someone else's mail in the box when he notices the blonde staggering through the street. Damon's half attempt at a wave seems to go unnoticed, but something about her distress reads a little less hungover than he'd prefer. "This can't be good," he mutters to himself, thinking only twice before slamming the mailbox shut. "Get a little lost?" he calls out, and takes a few steps toward her, where the reality of her disarray becomes apparent, "Or ... a lot lost?"
josie watched the flames as they danced in the wind, she'd always loved the solstice bonfire. the snacks and traditions of burning wishes or just things you needed to let go of, all of it felt like home. to have lizzie back made it that much better. klaus's voice took her out of her thoughts, ones of all the women in her life both past and present. rolling her eyes, the siphoner gave him a smirk before shrugging. "tonight, i'll just be observing..." ever since the masquerade, josie couldn't help but be on edge. knowing that if anything there wouldn't be just one event ruined by hunters. "i don't trust anything about this event. normally i love it but...something just doesn't feel right."

klaus mikaelson stood near the bonfire, drink in hand, the flames casting a menacing glow on his face. the air crackled with tension as much as it did with magic. his gaze was sharp, piercing through the merriment around him. a newcomer approached, and klaus's lips twisted into a sardonic smile. "ah, fresh meat," he drawled, his tone dripping with annoyance.
"greeting and salutations" he continued, voice edged with sarcasm. "do try not to get in anyone's way." he took a slow sip of his drink, eyes never leaving the intruder. "it would be such a shame to spoil the evening."
