she wasn't sure why, but each day she spent alive the quieter her mind became. when all her anxious thoughts washed away, it was much easier to be around others. even with darkness lurking in the shadows, eleanor believed that she was getting her life back. nursing a gin and tonic, she began walking around the venue. watching as people giggled as they told each other stories, ever since coming back from the dead, she felt so disconnected from the world. as if she wasn't meant to be here anymore. the thought made her shiver, knowing that she should be dead instead of at a party.

with her mind darting from one horrible scenario to another, eleanor managed to bump into someone who was also trying to stay out of the spotlight. "oh my gosh i'm so sorry." grabbing some napkins from her pockets, she handed them to the other. "i spaced out and wasn't paying attention."

Heath sat on the edge of the gardens, doing what he did best: watching. His careful eye followed party-goers as he sipped beer from a plastic cup while seated on a fallen log. He wasn't working, exactly, but he couldn't turn off the need to observe. Besides, he wasn't really an engage in the social scene type of guy himself, so the outskirts were where he felt most comfortable regardless.

He kept his eyes peeled for any suspicious behavior, on the look out for the demon he and Ingrid were tracking, and eyes open for any of his other ongoing case subjects. Even off from work, there was no such thing as just enjoying an outing.

eleanor was doing everything possible to make sure that her life could be put back on track. each book store in town had a copy of her manuscript. they'd all take it with small smiles unsure of why she was so intense about it all, but she didn't mind. how could anyone understand her one-track mind? it wasn't true, but it felt logical that once her book was picked up again, then the rest of her world would fall into place. the solstice event was a perfect time to network, so despite being anxious in a crowd, she got dressed and made way to the gardens.

a tiny purse, held a few things she wanted to burn. photos of the person who ended up killing her and other tokens of her past. elle hadn't meant to catch the others eye, but their smile along with being next to the fire, made it an easy mistake. taking a long sip of her drink, she then made her way to diana's side. "enjoying the event so far?" she asked before taking a few things out of her bag and gripping them near the blaze.

Upon arriving in New Orleans, Diana had stayed mostly under the radar, scoping out the townspeople and attempting to figure out where she best fit in. When she heard of the upcoming Solstice lighting, she knew she'd have to be in attendance. What better way to blend into society and meet new people? Perhaps she'd even meet other like-minded gossips such as herself. And of course, there would be so many lovely people for her to engage with and maybe even drink from.

She wound through the gardens with a drink in hand, staying a silent observer before coming to a standstill in front of the roaring fire. The flickering heat felt all-consuming. Taking a step back, she locked eyes with someone across the garden. Raising a glass in their direction, she offered a coy smile. The vampire was here to play, and it was game on.

a genuine smile grew on her face, as she move closer to felicity. allowing the comfort of the others presence to wash over her anxious body. "thanks, i feel so touchy with everyone. like when i'm with someone i know and trust, it's easier for me to breath." eleanor hated feeling this dependent on others, her whole life she was good at being alone, but it had been weeks since she had been able to be by herself. looking over at the sketchbook, she tilted her head and smiled. "i wish i knew what i needed, i'm just nervous all the time and every day there are these new memories that come back and it hurts cause how could i forget them?" no one wrote a book on how to handle coming back from the dead. "also not really sure how to tell a therapist about all this."

A Genuine Smile Grew On Her Face, As She Move Closer To Felicity. Allowing The Comfort Of The Others

Felicity nodded, her focus still on her sketchbook as she listened intently. A warm smile graced her lips as she glanced up at the other girl. "It's okay. Is there anything you need?" she inquired, closing her book with care and turning her full attention to her companion. "You can come in if you want. I don't bite," she assured, her tone friendly and welcoming. Felicity was making an effort to be hospitable and approachable, hoping to put the other girl at ease with her offer of openness and friendliness.

"oh, okay, yeah so sorry to bother you." eleanor turned to see the empty table, realizing that the only person she saw in this giant place was charlie. once her gaze went back to the other, he was already sitting, looking just as confused as she was. flexing her hands, she placed the manuscript on the counter before giving the other a smile. "so umm, i've decided to just kinda be up front with people since my brain is moving so much faster than any other body part. anyways, it's not you making this whole thing awkward its very much me." giggling softly, she shook her head and took a seat. "my name is eleanor, have we met before?"

he looked familiar but it was impossible to put any names to faces. elle's memory was still fuzzy, each day she was alive brought something new. the name of a childhood friend or just something she once loved. the whole process made her feel as if she was insane and honestly who could blame her if she was?

"oh, Okay, Yeah So Sorry To Bother You." Eleanor Turned To See The Empty Table, Realizing That The Only

Charlie sighed in frustration as he carefully dished up his plate of food, realizing that the girl in front of him seemed to have misunderstood. He could see the confusion on her face as she held the oversized plate that was clearly meant for more than just one person. "It's not for me," he explained, trying to sound patient despite his irritation. "It's probably for one of my cousins or my uncle. You can just leave it on the table over there." He gestured towards the empty table in the corner of the room, hoping she would understand and not cause any further confusion.

Charlie took a seat and silently cursed himself for not clarifying things sooner. He felt a pang of embarrassment at the awkward situation unfolding before him. Glancing at the abundant amount of food on his plate, he couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed by the thought of having to explain himself further.

eleanor wasn't sure how she ended up here, someone at the local bookshop said that the mikaelson's were big on art. even though she should've been taking time to being used to living once more, instead she threw herself into work. with a manuscript in hand, elle made her way into the kitchen, the aroma of a large meal filled her senses, causing her to realize that she hadn't eaten much today. with wide eyes, she met charlie's gaze and shook her head softly. "no really, i'm the one intruding...umm i was told that this family is into helping the arts...and i have this book that i wanted one of you to take a look at." her tone was awkward and stiff, no matter how many times she cursed herself in her mind, the weirdness stayed.

Eleanor Wasn't Sure How She Ended Up Here, Someone At The Local Bookshop Said That The Mikaelson's Were

As the first rays of morning light filtered through the windows, Charlie found himself free from the confines of the garden lockup. Filled with a newfound sense of purpose, he headed straight to the kitchen, ready to take on the day.

With a burst of energy, Charlie began to transform the space, pots and pans clanging as he dug into his culinary creations. Lost in a whirlwind of spices and flavors, he didn't notice the soft footsteps approaching him until a gentle cough broke through his concentration.

Startled, Charlie turned around, a look of surprise on his face as he met the gaze of the person behind him. "Oh, hi there," he said, a sheepish smile spreading across his face. "I didn't realize you were here."

there were very few people who hadn't reacted with wide eyes and a dropped jaw as eleanor walked into the room, one of them happened to be felicity. this wasn't exactly that weird to witness when your family had done similar things for centuries. so despite all the anxious energy that filled the streets of new orleans, there was still this content energy that wasn't shocked by a person crawling out of her grave. right now, it was all that elle could handle every other type of environment overwhelmed her senses.

art was important to the gerard family, how could it not be when you've lived so many lives and seen it evolve? so as the two settled into comfortable conversation, the busy world around them began to melt. feeling as maybe the world didn't have to be as terrifying as eleanor thought. yet it couldn't be denied, the eerie feeling in the air that never left since the power went out, only to mysteriously come on. a chill ran down her spine, causing her eyes to grow wide. "sorry, i'm still adjusting to having a pulse." elle admitted, ever since coming back, she had become hyper aware of her heartbeat. the way it would quicken when someone gave her a certain look on the street. it caused her to feel vulnerable in such public places.

There Were Very Few People Who Hadn't Reacted With Wide Eyes And A Dropped Jaw As Eleanor Walked Into

Felicity looked up and, upon recognizing the familiar face before her, a smile of recognition tugged at the corners of her lips. "Oh, hey there! I'm sorry, I was so zoned in I didn't even notice you," she said apologetically, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

Her friend chuckled softly, a warmth in their eyes as they responded, "No worries, you looked really focused. What are you drawing this time?" they asked, leaning in to get a better look at Felicity's sketchbook.

As Felicity eagerly shared her latest project, the two friends settled into an easy conversation, the bustling energy of the coffee shop providing a comforting backdrop to their reunion. In that moment, Felicity felt grateful for the interruption that had brought them together and looked forward to the shared moments of creativity and connection that awaited them.

eleanor never actually made it into the ball, her nerves not allowing her to go any further than the steps, but with the events that unfolded she was now thankful. once seeing everyone else run, she decided to follow. there was one place she knew to go, the magic shop that she often visited before her death, a place she hadn't been in years. yet she knew the way and stumbled in, with messy hair and labored breaths. "yeah, i saw that but hunters they attacked the ball and everyone was running and i used to come here all the time so i thought it would be safe." the woman was rambling, a nervous tick some may say, but she had grown to just consider it part of her personality. "i'm sorry, really, i just need a moment."

fear swirled in her mind, wondering if everyone was safe that she cared for. then she began to curse herself for being such a coward and running away. tears filled her eyes and she allowed her shoulders to slouch forward in sadness.

her eyes closed softly as he cupped her face, his touch had always settled her nerves. slowly her eyes opened and she looked into his eyes and decided to be honest, or at least a little honest. "i'm okay, just feel like a porcelain doll when i'm near anyone. sometimes it doesn't feel real with how far away you all are. even with you so close, i can tell you want to be further." eleanor sighed, placing her hands at the nape of his neck. "i don't think you are going to hurt me and i don't even think you hurt me then. i miss you, the way you felt before."

it was hard to explain all the feelings that swirled in her body. elle needed more time, but she also didn't want to be alone in it all. she wanted him near.

eleanor wasn't sure where to go tonight, with nikolas remaining at arms length and her family so caught up in her return, it felt as if nothing was right. sure being back from the dead wasn't right or normal either, but to be treated like such a fragile piece of art, well it made the young woman anxious. the feeling never left her, it seemed once she crawled out of the grave, she was destined to feel out of place in the world. possibly because she didn't belong here anymore. none of it made sense, so she made her way to the outside area of the venue and took in a the fresh air. only coming back to reality when a voice filled the silence.

tilting her head to the other, she opened her eyes and furrowed her brows. trying to think what answer would be best. bolting felt like the best option. yet, her feet stayed planted on the ground. "honestly, i can't answer that. i want to leave this ball so badly. get away from everyone and just be, but i don't want to worry people anymore."

a genuine laugh left eleanor, causing her stance to soften before nodding her head in agreement. "completely agree! i'd much rather be in something comfortable and watching a movie than do this for fun. before i got in here and saw people wearing masks, i thought the idea was going to be fun, but it feels off." shrugging her shoulders, she tilted her head and smiled. she could feel it each time they were in the same room, not only was his touch gentle but so was his gaze. it was as if she had come back to life a china doll. if she wanted anything, it was to prove that she didn't need to be treated as such. leaning against a bannister, the cool marble against her warm back caused a calm to wash over eleanor. ever since coming back, it felt as if he was avoiding her and yet also provided her with comfort. the whole ordeal caused her head to feel dizzy. so she spent time with her family, being with her sisters and trying to catch up on the years she missed.

yet, she yearned for nikolas, he was somehow she always turned to when feeling overwhelmed. just as she was thinking about him, their eyes met across the room. a shiver ran up her spine, one so different than before. instantly she blushed, feeling as if she was seeing him for the very first time. elle decided to make the first move, her feet basically floating off the floor as she made her way to her love. when she got to him, she placed a hand on his chest and smiled sweetly. "i'd know your eyes anywhere." she admitted to him so easily.

eleanor was still getting used to being alive, so even though she felt beautiful in the dress, she was also filled with nervousness. the only people she'd been around were her family and fiancee. people who looked at her like a fragile doll. so maybe this party was a good thing, she could wear a mask and pretend to not be some dead girl. yet when walking into the room, she felt instantly embarrassed, a feeling that hasn't left since crawling out of her grave. even when nikolas would shower her with kind words, it felt as if they just passed through her body. lost in worrying thoughts, she didn't even notice that someone stepped on her toe. "no, he didn't leave me out here..." she trailed off trying to think of a better way to explain the ordeal, but she's exhausted and just wanted to rest. "i was dead and now i'm not. he doesn't know i'm alive, well no one does and i would just really appreciate it, if you could give me the tiniest break." eleanor didn't mean to be so blunt with her words and yet they spewed out of her with annoyance laced on each syllable. taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and pushed her shoulders back, before opening them again. it had been a whirlwind couple hours, coming back to life would've been a lot harder had she not found nikolas. he quickly got her back on her feet and she was grateful, but she also needed some time to mull it over. questions bounced in her mind and none of them had answers. it hadn't been made public knowledge, that eleanor was back from the dead so when people clamored around her, she couldn't help but become nervous. walking faster, she managed to get away from the crowd. a man's voiced caused her to jump, looking up at him she shrugged. "yeah, just not used to so many people looking at me." her eyes darted from the cigarette and back, she'd never smoked before but here she was craving some type of vice. "do you uhh, have another one of those?"

twilight, again. darkened haze swept over the skies above, most parts of the town simmering down to lull themselves into the evening to slumber, or tranquil bliss though here in the midst of the french quarter, life still breathed heavily, souls welcoming the darkening skies, starting their night off right with a drink at roussea's, some even braving it without a drink in their system, lucien looked upon them fondly whilst they bustled passed. surely he thought they'd be having a drink later on. his midst of his back against the pole, long legs crossed at the ankle - somehow, he still stood upright. an inkiness consumed his light hues when a tourist popped in his line of site, it would be easy for lucien to take this solo tourist out of the world, lifting from the post he was about to make his way over when a small child came up to the man, it popped the illusion of feasting.

his back fell against the beam again, holding him very much upright, nimble fingers delve inside his pocket, fishing out cigarette and his lighter in the one motion and placed between his lips. he had just lit the cigarette when a commotion on the street caught his attention, people taking to the streets he assumed after the murders, swivel of his body brought him off his post when he collided with someone, it piqued his interest. he plucked the cigarette from his lips and tried to be mindful. ❝ you alright ? ❞ lucien asked, a hint of concern though that was for his suit more then the person.

it's possible that everyone who was brought back was now bonded. lizzie was related to her fiancé, his family was the polar opposite of her blood one, so it always fascinated her how the mikaelson group dynamic worked. running dirty fingers through her hair, eleanor nodded to the other. feeling instantly soothed once in her presence. her body seemed to collapse, but never hit the ground thanks to caroline's abilities, of being both a concerned mother and vampire. the question ran through her head and eleanor wanted to answer it. she saw someone before becoming conscious but had no idea who it could be. "i saw someone, and they said something to me but i can't remember what." there was no telling how long it took to walk from the cemetery to here, but from the way her feet and legs felt it must've been a few hours. seeing hope caused eleanor to allow herself to breathe, something she was still getting used to doing. every once a in awhile she would gulp air as if it was water, causing her to choke, but this time it felt natural. "hope, please, thank you, i'm so confused...." only moments ago the woman had crawled her way out of her own grave, fingernails broken and dirty as proof. she'd hide them from the other's eyesight, already aware of how dirty and awful she must've looked in the moment. all of the sudden she became hyper aware of her body, walking closer to the tribrid as some way to shield herself from the world. "do you know why any of this would be happening?"

she wanted to hide, but every muscle ached and she lacked proper nutrients to force herself to walk any further, let alone run away from view. so instead she kept close to hope, knowing that if anyone was going to accept the clinginess it was her. "i woke up in my coffin, in the dress you all buried me in, and..." she trailed off. "where is nikolas?"

A STRING OF SUPERNATURAL DEATHS, had not been what the tribid meant when she said she felt ‘ darkness ‘ looming in the environment of her family’s beloved city. the last thing hope would have EVER wanted was to see anyone hurt. ever the compassionate soul, hope mikaelson had a tendency of internalizing responsibilities that weren’t hers.

recent events? were no DIFFERENT. feeling stir crazy, the fiery headed girl, dumped her mountain of spell books in her room and cited the need to take a stroll ( after all whatever was murdering others, would have to have it’s own death wish to mess with a tribid ) regardless she was on guard, but nothing could have prepared her for the sight of her little brother’s dead fiancee. “what the f…. “ her voice trailed, approaching the lost looking woman in haste. zooming to her side, she made sure to maintain some distance as to not startle her. “ elle? “ name almost came out a whisper. “hey… it’s hope. “ because that was clever or useful. “ let’s get you out of here. “

she held a of respect for nikolas's parents, honestly she was proud of any parent who actually care for their child's well being. however, she also didn't know the divide that was created thanks to her death. her vision was blurry, but there was no mistaking klaus's voice. turning towards the sound, he was already beside her, letting out a sigh of relief she took his arm. "do you know what is happening? i don't understand, klaus i was in a grave and i crawled out of it..." this was all so overwhelming, eleanor quickly began to feel panic rise from her chest. "i don't understand..." she repeated, as the world began to spin.

He hasn't expected to see her given she was meant to be dead. But the moment he did, he stepped out of his car and made a v-line towards Eleanor. Klaus dismissed the person that Eleanor had been trying to get the attention of before she stepped in next to her. "Eleanor," he said, reaching out an arm to support her if she was going to fall before looking at her over. "Lets get you inside."

finally, someone was willing to say something. eleanor took a deep heavy breath before walking closer to the man. "a lot lost." she admitted before rubbing her eyes, ever since leaving the graveyard her vision had been blurry. all of her bones ached and each muscle felt as if it was stuck, like she was a tin person who lacked oil. "i need a phone and i don't have any money, but i need to talk to my fiancee." she also needed a shower, water, and food, but the main worry was always nikolas.

Coffee Mug In Hand, Damon Trots Down The Steps Of His Porch For The Morning Paper. He Takes Stock Of

Coffee mug in hand, Damon trots down the steps of his porch for the morning paper. He takes stock of the lawn care ads, grocery store coupons, and someone else's mail in the box when he notices the blonde staggering through the street. Damon's half attempt at a wave seems to go unnoticed, but something about her distress reads a little less hungover than he'd prefer. "This can't be good," he mutters to himself, thinking only twice before slamming the mailbox shut. "Get a little lost?" he calls out, and takes a few steps toward her, where the reality of her disarray becomes apparent, "Or ... a lot lost?"

placing her hands on her chest, eleanor nodded to the other. "yes please, i'm looking for someone and well..." she trailed off, trying to think of some way to explain what had just happened. one moment, she was bracing for impact, taking one last look at nikolas as he did the same. then she woke up in a coffin, six feet under the ground and she wasn't sure how much time had past. looking at tris with wide eyes, tears welled in her eyes as memories flashed through her brain. "i'm sorry, i just went through something really traumatic and i don't think i'm handling it very well. do you know where we can get some water?"

Unfortunately Disorientation Had Become Something A Little Too Familiar For The Vampire. Ever Since Her

unfortunately disorientation had become something a little too familiar for the vampire. ever since her transition. spotting the woman a good distance away, tris' newly sensitive hearing picked up a bit of confusion lacing her voice. recently they had not been one to butt into anyone else's business. in fact she would rather stay on the periphery completely. though there was something about the other that drew tris in. so instead of turning the other way, the vamp made their way over to her. " you seem a little lost. i don't really know the place, but i can try and help. "

she watched the emotions flash through his face, his eyes changing in the slightest way each time, but it was so easy for her to notice. shaking her head, eleanor wasn't sure how to explain any of it, still reeling from the journey to get to here. her fingers rubbed under his eyes, heat rising in her body from where his skin met hers. being near him brought all of her senses that were lacking back. shaking her head to his comment, elle smiled softly knowing that this all did seem like a dream. "it's real, i don't know how but it's real. i'm really here." grabbing his hands she placed them on her cheeks, hoping that he would feel the same way she had just moments ago. "see i'm warm."

eleanor wasn't sure if she was okay, every basic need such as water, food and some form of getting clean were required. looking down at her body and then back to nikolas she shrugged. "everything felt so dull until i found you...." she trailed off to see the apartment, realizing no one was actively living in it. there was no life or happiness, only dust and some boxes. ellie's eyes found his again. "nik, i'm so sorry." she admitted, even though there was nothing for her to be sorry for, she still felt a deep sense of guilt. "i just crawled out of a grave and i'm such a mess...."

all she wanted was for him to hold her and never let go. his touched solved so many problems in the past, but could it now? there was no tell of how long she'd been in that coffin. eleanor wasn't even sure if she remembered anything after her death. no heaven waited for her, just the feeling of that he was missing.

She Watched The Emotions Flash Through His Face, His Eyes Changing In The Slightest Way Each Time, But

" how is this possible ? " he breathed . he had felt an unwavering amount of emotions . nikolas had felt happiness , joy , guilt , worry , love , and grief among other things as his piercing blue eyes searched for an explanation . the sandy blonde male wondered if turning off his emotions meant burying the thing he loved the most . " this can't be real . . this is just all in my head . " he breathed the words to himself , that or i've completely gone mad , he assumed before he felt her hands on his cheekbone .

the words whispered from her lips played on his ears like a symphony as she spoke his name ;; and in that moment he knew the truth . his fiance wasn't some hallucination or some vivid image he had conjured up in his mind . no , she was real , she was alive . " elle . " he whispered . all nikolas wanted to do was pull eleanor into him and hold her tight , but the fear of harming her stayed forefront . " oh , my god , are you okay ? " his questioned as they spoke at the same time , but he heard her question . how long has it been ? she had asked . " too long ?" he found himself staring into her haunting baby blue eyes , afraid more then anything that he would lose her again .

there was really no rhyme or reason as to how eleanor ended up at the brewery. maybe it was noise of busy people? someone is bound to help you in a crowd right? or at least that was what the tired girl had hoped. everything was fuzzy and hard to process, so she just followed the sound, shielding her face as the bright lights beamed from the building. dusting herself off, she finally realized that she was in the clothes her family buried her in. a black v-neck sundress and matching ballet shoes. while the only thing to identify her, was the dainty gold chain the read her name in cursive, nikolas gave it to her the night she died.

she was shaken out of her daze by a voice calling her way, looking up with a confused grin, she then pointed to herself to confirm. he sounded kind and there was water at the table, oh how long it had been since she had water. so she found herself skipping over to the empty seat, nodding her head at his question before grabbing the pitcher of water and gulping it down. it felt as if she her whole body lacked oxygen and liquid, causing her muscles to feel tense and strained. after a few seconds, ellie placed the now half empty pitcher on the table. her cheeks turning red as she realized what she had just done in front of everyone.

"oh my god, you'd think being newly dead was embarrassing but this really tops it." she admitted quietly, hoping only the person next to her could hear, while the crowd that glared only saw a nervous smile.

kilian sits comfortably under one of the weathered canopies just outside the parleaux beer lab, a hazy ipa sweating on the table in front of him. his fingers are coated in black from the charcoal pinched between them, sketching under the glow of the setting sun. lost in his craft, he finds some semblance of peace despite the subject of his sudden artistic inspiration. the details of the shaded drawing capture the intricate features of his best friend, lost in the fire that took their lives. they'd spend their friday evenings at breweries like this, decompressing after a long week of classes and enjoying the company of their closest friends. it was time taken for granted, so now he basks in every moment. relishing in each sip of his drink, recalling memories of laughter and deep conversations, and growing stronger in their bond with one another. now, the table is silent and only one of them remains to carry on the tradition. almost like clockwork and eager for a distraction from his grief, he spots the other step out of the brewery. a smile pulls at his lips and urges him to wave them over, setting aside his sketchbook and wiping his hands as clean as the napkins allowed. " hey ! are you meeting someone here ? 'cause i could use some company if you're not. " kilian says with confidence, before motioning to a seat at his table and leaning a tad closer to them, his tone taking a more playful turn, " besides, i'm getting pitiful stares from the other patrons here for drinking alone. if anything, i'm making it look cool . . . right ? she'd seen bonnie in old photos with caroline and elena, yet had never met in person. they all said the witch moved away after the twins were transfered from josette to caroline. something eleanor always felt was smart since mystic falls ended up becoming a supernatural free zone. so yes, ellie was staring but not on purpose. the world was new to her, every color and smell felt more vibrant than before. it wasn't until the other spoke up, that the werewolf realized how long she'd been standing there. "oh umm, i'm so sorry, i just.....you look familiar."

it was odd being alive, so far she managed to hide from everyone. putting on a baseball cap and glasses to cover up any noticeable features. how was the public going to react if they saw a dead girl walking the streets?

It's become increasingly apparent the longer time ticks by that she's being watched. Naturally it is a little concerning given that in the near year she's been in New Orleans she's kept a low profile, hardly seeing anyone but it seems the more she comes out of her own shadows? The more she becomes a target, perhaps this is one of those moments. "If you have something to say now would be the time." Voice carries out though she hasn't looked up from the book she's writing in, fingers of free hand tap idly against porcelain cup, almost empty from the tea she'd been indulging in. "Or would you prefer to keep staring in silence?" @inaducursehqstarters

eleanor had only been alive for a few hours, something brought her back to life and she was determined to figure out what it was. the first place on her list was the apothecary, ellie felt she was in danger and wanted to protect nikolas and herself from whatever may come. it wasn't until she heard a familiar voice, of her future mother in law, had she not died before the wedding. with wide eyes, she looked for something to hide behind, but caroline already saw her. "uhh hi caroline...i was hoping to not have this meeting out in the open, but here we are." she tried to smile, but every nerve in her body felt far to tense to move. "i don't know how i'm here...."

after taking a sip from the take away cup of coffee caroline sighed as it tasted of old drip and not the caliber she'd been accustomed to the last few months in europe. that was the biggest thing she missed since returning home. the rest was overshadowed by the excitement to see her family in person after phone conversations and messages. " toto it looks like we're not in rome anymore, " she speaks more to herself than any passerby in particular after another swig.

it felt as if just moments ago, she was bracing for impact of a crash and then, she was lying in a coffin six feet under the ground. it took every ounce of her strength to get out of the situation and even though she managed to do it, it was obvious that eleanor had dissociated long ago. there was only one thing on her mind, nikolas. the walk was long and every inch of her body ached as she walked the streets of the french quarter. knowing each turn to make her way to their apartment. no questions went through her brain just yet, still using everything left in her to get back to him.

the door was open, something she didn't expect but it allowed her to breathe easier. as it swung forward, ellie wasn't actually sure what she expected. the whole time her mind hadn't processed what had just happened. the desperation as she clawed her way out of the ground. once she saw him that feeling seemed to vanish, her whole body grew white hot. cheeks flushing as her chest flooded with sadness and joy. "nikolas?" her voice was meek before she ran to him, placing her palms against his stubbly cheeks. "how long has it been?" it was all she could ask, but other questions ran through her mind. he looked so different, his eyes sadder and it caused an ache to ring through her bones.
