HI! I've been busy with work and other projects, but I really missed drawing my two favorites so Here's a sketch of Finnick and Annie giggling over something only they find funny
HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY, my new acquaintance, pleased to meet you. Hope you had a great day babes.
Thank You so much!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Hello I just scrolled through you’re whole blog bc I’m in love your art is amazing 😭
Thank you!!! 😭😭
Character designs for a story I should Not be writing because I already have 5000 other projects
thinking about how the hunger games were designed to prove that without society, order, government, someone to rule, we devolve into little more than animals, and how the games themselves prove over and over again that this is not true. We see it in every single game we witness.
Katniss placing flowers around Rue's body in the arena. Thresh sparing Katniss because she was kind to Rue, even though he was making it that much harder for himself to win.
Haymitch going back for Maysilee after hearing her scream even though their alliance had been broken. Haymitch holding her as she dies the same way Katniss did Rue.
Coral's "I can't have killed them all for nothing" when she realizes she's not going home. Lamina cutting down Marcus at great personal risk. And, my favorite moment in tbosas, Reaper collecting the bodies of his fellow tributes, his peers, even the ones who tried to kill him, into a pile. Taking the weapons from their hands. Closing their eyes and crossing their arms in the best approximation of a proper burial he can manage, covering them with the Capitol flag as a makeshift shroud.
The Games bring out the worst in people, yes. But despite the extreme circumstances, despite the exterior pressure of the Capitol, despite the fact that it could mean pain and heartbreak and death, it also shows that people have an enormous capacity for goodness. That even in a situation purposefully designed to make empathy impossible, people can't help but have it anyway.
Snow looks at the Games and all he can see is what's inside himself-- this pure animalistic drive to conquer and defeat. He kills and it feels good and he thinks that everyone else must feel that way too. He doesn't realize (maybe can't realize) that he is the exception, not the rule. He cannot see outside himself, outside his own warped perspective, to realize that the fact that people do show humanity in the games proves his entire worldview wrong.
Omg I just found your blog and your art is LOVELY. I was wondering if you had a timeline for when your commissions will be back open? Totally understand if not but I had to ask!
Thank you!!! I've been working on a webcomic that's been taking up a lot of my free time so I'm not sure yet! But I love doing commissions so I'm hoping to open them again soon!!
Did you draw that photo of book accurate Katniss, Peeta, and haymitch? If you did, I really love the way you illustrated their burn scars. I’m a burn survivor and I’ve never been burn scars be illustrated so beautifully. Thank you for that
I (probably) am the one that drew it! You have no idea how happy I am to hear that!! 😭
A character of a story of mine is also a burn survivor and I’ve tried my best to do all the research to get it right, so that means a lot to know!! 🩷🩷🩷
as katniss and peeta enter the capitol for the first time, katniss is shocked at how peeta is able to hold his ground by smiling and waving to the capitol citizens (thg, 59). and she immediately concludes that this is because peeta is already fighting hard to survive (thg, 60). and fighting hard to kill her (thg, 60).
just like everyone else in his situation would.
but literally every other word he says to katniss in this book is about how he doesn't actually think he is going to survive this. like when they are talking about their skills (thg, 90). or when he is explaining how he wants to die as himself and not stoop to the capitol's level (thg, 141). or when he is trying to tell katniss what he wants her to know before he dies in the cave (thg, 261).
by the end of the first games, i am sure that peeta had started to think of himself as a survivor. a victor. after all, he was about to survive a brutal death arena with his lover.
but then the rule changed. and only one of them could survive. and any drive of his to survive did not stop him from immediately realizing that katniss needs to be the one to live. because he needs her to live.
and so, throwing all survival instincts to the wind, he threw his knife into the river and released the bandage from his wound (thg, 342). he was planning on dying for her. he just didn't realize that his songbird was thinking the same.
and this continues in the second game when both katniss and peeta hyperfocus on how they can ensure their lover's survival. knowing that it would cost their own life.
they both don't really consider themselves survivors. or, if they do, they recognize how they will need to just forget all of their natural instincts to survive. because there is something more important.
and it is almost like they both decided to be survivors in the quell because they need to survive just long enough to help give the other person a better chance of surviving. because what is the point of surviving if your happiness dies alongside your lover.
my hunger games characters height head-canons (even though nobody asked)
Annie and Finnick:
I’ve seen so many fics where Annie is short and that’s cute of course, but tall Annie oh my goodness. She has my heart!! Also I feel like a lot of the short Annie headcanons is just because they want a cute height difference between her and Finnick (also because her movie actors super short, love stef but this is my book headcanons) but guys, they can still have a cute height difference with them both being tall. So I headcanon Finnick as 6’4 (I had trouble deciding with Finnick because I know 6’4 is like, uncommon? I dont know if it’s THAT uncommon) and Annie is 5’9 because I couldn’t decide between 5’8-5’10 so I picked 5’9 because it’s right in the middle. Also I don’t want ANYBODY saying “oh, 5’9 isn’t that tall” it is for a woman pleaaaseee!!! anyway, it’s still a cute height difference right?
Also I saw somebody that reposted one of my posts that was like “Katniss for the short girlies, Annie for the tall girlies, and the tall girlie gets the tall guy” and yes exactlyyy. Also this is more of a personal preference I am so sick of the extremely short petite girl with the tall, muscular guy it was cute at first (and it still can be cute if played right) but now I feel like it’s all I see and I need more tall girl x tall guy relationships
Also im a firm believer in swimmers body Annie, im a firm believer in most district four people having swimmers body’s actually like fight me if you disagree it makes so much sense.
