One thing that’s easy to miss regarding all the Todoroki family drama is that the abuse was never actually covered up.

I know the fandom popularized this concept, because it just makes sense that it would be, right, with Endeavor’s position and what we know about the HPSC corruption. Except… Canon actually hints in the opposite direction.

- There is a plaque right outside of Rei’s hospital room that reads “Mrs. Todoroki”. She’s been there for so long that the room is marked as hers for all the hospital personnel to see. Yet no one questions it.

- Her doctor knows about Endeavor’s abuse because they suggested that Rei isn’t ready to see him yet. And they did nothing with this information. Yes, I know that confidentiality is a thing, but. They also allowed Enji to leave apology flowers even when they know that Rei is still terrified of him 10 years later. The doctor knows Rei’s condition and her improvement, but they don’t know jack shit about Enji’s “atonement” or how trustworthy his change of heart actually is. As far as the doctor knows, those flowers might’ve been an abusive tactic to get Rei to forgive her abuser and continue abusing her. Bc that’s what happens in real life. Yet the doctor didn’t oppose this. Supposedly because Endeavor is a hero.

- Shouto wasn’t homeschooled like the fandom seems to perceive as canon. He went to school regularly. We have pictures of kindergarten and middle school. Which means that no teacher ever noticed the bruises. No teacher questioned the burn scar on his eye, despite knowing that Shouto is a fire user. No teacher ever questioned his open hatred for his dad.

- just because none of the Todoroki talks about it, it doesn’t mean that they’re trying to hide it, either. Fuyumi talked openly about her brother’s death and his father’s involvement in it with minimal prodding, like she just assumed that Shouto had talked to them about it.

- Last but not least, Endeavor still doesn’t really recognize what he did as abuse, as shown by how clueless he still is about Natsuo’s feelings. He thinks it was just a “mistake” that he can fix by being slightly less controlling. But his ignorance on the matter tells us that he wouldn’t have covered up after himself, because he never perceived any of those things as crimes. After all, their society is firmly based on the violent takedown of those arbitrarily labeled villains. Endeavor is a hero, so it’s his status alone that prevents him from actually seeing the reality of what he’s done. Heroes don’t do “crimes”. They make “mistakes”.

- society itself is very apologetic and forgiving of the abuse of power carried out by heroes. No one actually thinks that heroes can do wrong, or not help others. There’s multiple examples of how this mindset leads to crimes hidden in plain sight. Like Tenko’s abuse. Like Shigaraki threatening Izuku in a packed mall without anyone noticing that anything was wrong. Even with the evidence of Hawks’ own murder, Tokoyami forgave Hawks and told him that what he did was right. Society turns a blind eye to everything that doesn’t quite fit with what they perceive as an utopia. This is a theme in bnha.

So basically.

We really should stop saying that Endeavor (or the commission) covered up the abuse, because that takes away from the actual narrative at play here: there is no cover up. There was never a need for it, because in hero society things like what he did get routinely brushed off without any external input. And that’s exactly the problem.

i hate todoroki enji and no one can make me change that (i’m finna vent real quick)

i know some ppl like him but,,, i just c a n t get over the fact he abused his family. i may not read the manga but no amount of “making up” or “getting better” will make me forget that. the ppl who like him make me uncomfortable bc i know that they probably didn’t grow up with shit ppl raising them. how can i get over what endeavor did when i can see my own dad in him?? my dad didn’t treat me as bad but i can relate to the way he treated his children and isn’t that fucked. i understand that he’s a complex character but i just can’t sometimes. it’s probably just my own experiences but i don’t know what to do in situations where ppl try to excuse endeavor’s actions. does anyone feel the same or is it just me??

Third Year students and now nearly graduating and Bakugo gets into a big mess. He was on patrol with Shoto at their internship when some kid's quirk decided to come put and hit Shoto right in the chest. The pairents were proud of course, but Katsuki was mortified. In Shoto's place was nothing but his clothes. Where the hell was his teammate?

He ran over to the clothing and picked up the blue jumper only to see a very tiny and naked Shoto pop out. He was about the size of Katsuki middle finger.

"Fuck."

"Oh."

Katsuki bent and picked up the small Shoto and held him up to eye level. "Oh? Just Oh? Why didn't you dodge?!"

"I... Wasn't exspecting it.... Oh." -He said and held onto Bakugo's finger. "Its very high up here."

"Fuck. Hey! Mom and Dad! Can you get your brat to fix this?"

"Bakugo...."

"Oh.... Um sorry if his quirk is like mine then it needs to wear off," The father said with a shrug. "Give it a few hours.... Or days. That was a big blast."

"Fuck. Fuck...come on we have to tell your dad and go back to U.A." FUCK!" Katsuki cursed. He took the parents names and grabbed the falling clothes. He looked at Shoto and sighed.

"My father won't be pleased," Shoto said keeping a firm grip around Katsuki's finger. He was smiling though.

"Yeah..., You love that idea. Come on hold on tight," he said and hurried back to the agency. What the hell were they going to do? Katsuki had no clue.

who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter?

Tony is the werewolf. He was born into a very old line of werewolves. Usually, he can switch between forms at will but a witch has cursed him into his wolf form until his true love kisses him. Sam has been tasked with hunting down the Stark line. He does this with the help of his trusty wolf creatively named Wolf (look, he found the wolf when he was a kid and Wolf was a puppy, sue him for not coming up with a creative name) (also, Wolf won’t respond to any other name, except oddly Tony but that’s a ridiculous name for a wolf so Sam refuses to use it).

who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman?

Tony is the mermaid. Sam once accidentally caught him. Tony shrieked about the (minuscule) scratch he got on one of his scales for so long Sam physically heaved him out of the boat and back into the water.

who’s the witch and who’s the familiar?

Tony is the witch because Sam is a falcon.

who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict?

I feel like the answer is obvious but let’s go with Sam being the coffee addict here. He’s a grad student and overworked and you don’t get it, Tony, I need that fifth shot of espresso. Tony is secretly just as much of a coffee addict but he pretends to have good habits because he’s worried about Sam’s health.

who’s the professor and who’s the TA?

Sam is a professor who teaches military history. It’s one of the most popular classes at the university because Sam teaches history from the losing side’s point of view (and also Sam is the youngest professor at the university and very handsome). Tony is working on his third PhD so he can avoid taking over SI as long as he can. He TAs for Dr. Banner over in the chemistry department and accidentally falls asleep in Sam’s classroom a few minutes before class is supposed to start.

who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss)?

They’re both convinced they’re the knight.

who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent?

Tony is the single parent. He recently adopted Peter and Harley, brothers who just lost their parents a few months earlier. Sam teaches Harley’s second-grade class and has to call Tony in for a conference because Harley is dealing with his grief by punching the bullies in the class (Sam approves of the sentiment but not the method).

who’s the writer and who’s the editor?

Tony is the writer. He writes the most gorgeous stories about heartbreak and loss. Sam kind of wants to punch whoever broke Tony’s heart in the throat.

Like SERIOUSLY you guys this man would be -ABSOLUTELY UNFORGIVEABLE- enough if all that was canon was just what he did to Rei and the kids we know for sure are his but if it turns out Enji had FUCKING -ANYTHING- TO DO WITH DABI, EVEN IF BY SOME CRAZY CHANCE HE ISN’T HIS SON, IF HE EVEN HAD A DAMN THING TO DO WITH WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT KID THAT MADE HIM THAT WAY, AND WE ALL KNOW HE DID, HE FUCKING DESERVES -DEATH- by -EXECUTION-. -Stripped of all honor-, not any fucking semblance of redemption about anything he only tried to do in the last moments to save face! Rhodey unironically becomes Uncle Rhodey to all the IronChildre, and though he puts on a blank face, he honestly lives for it

Peter: ‘Hey Uncle Rhodey, punched any stupid government men today?’

Rhodey, grinning: ‘unfortunately not, squirt, but it’s still early’

Pepper looks out at all her kids, only one of them biological, and decides she loves them all the same

Morgan never assumes for a second that the others are anything other than her older siblings

Sam: ‘how many siblings you got now, Morgs?’

Morgan: ‘I don’t think I have enough fingers to count’

Their little family is pretty great, and the IronParents wouldn’t change it for the world
