Kate Bishop does not want a protege. Maybe in a decade or so, when her joints start to stiffen. But at twenty-seven, she doesn’t think she’s quite adult enough to adult someone else.
Much less this someone else.
wilf (wip i’d like to finish)
Gwen Stacy is Spider-woman. And it’s good, right? Helping people, saving people?
Except nobody ever sat Gwen Stacy down and said you can’t have it both and you can’t stop once you start and don’t you see you’re cannibalizing yourself?
She thinks she would have put on the mask anyway, eventually. But maybe she would have been a little more careful about it.
Enough of the trope where memory loss undoes the damage or the corruption or whatever. More content where removing memories just removes the context.
The tragedy of needing to grieve and not knowing what or who you lost or why. The angst of having trauma and being denied the awareness that it's trauma. The suspense of being different somehow and left to wonder how and when. The tension of knowing that something is off and you can't find where it hurts. The Adventure Zone gets it. Kingdom Hearts gets it.
There is an aching inside you and you don't know how it got there.
imagine coming out of an ice-induced, 70 year coma then being hired by the us government to fight aliens and one of your coworkers was the most insufferable, entitled billionaire who constantly made jokes about your past without knowing anything about you and you weren’t allowed to knock him out bc it’d be an HR nightmare.. yea i’d start jumping out of planes without a parachute too
“wanda, just like we practiced!” aka bring your kid to work day i drew these two a lot after civil waR
imagine if the avengers had actually discussed the plan for more than an hour, and found out from nebula that you have to sacrifice what you love most to get the soul stone (basically a soul for a soul), and steve volunteered himself for the mission. face to face with the red skull, he’s asked if he’s willing to make the sacrifice, to lose what’s important to him. steve replies, “go ahead and try. i’ve already lost everything else.” after its done, steve just laughs and says, “that’s all?”
& steve makes it back alive with the stone. he makes it back to the avengers compound. they don’t recognize him at first, but once they see past the change in structure and size, its obvious. they ask what happened, and he replies “a soul for a soul”. he gave up captain america, let him go once and for all, and that was enough.
Natasha what do you MEAN half the intelligence community doesn’t believe the winter soldier exists. He comes in like a wrecking ball. He’s blowing stuff up IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. He has an ENTOURAGE. He’s ripping the steering wheel OUT OF YOUR CAR ON THE FREEWAY. This man has gone to the Steve Rogers School of Simply Throwing Myself At The Enemy. They done did brainwash his whole life outta him but they couldn’t make him forget that style of fighting.
quit being a nail in my coffin, i don’t need another one
are you all sick of this shade of orange-red yet
