"Mama Bird" - Penguin Fanfiction - One Piece - Finished

The picture is completely and utterly unrelated, I just felt the post was a little naked!

Either way! Here's my finished Penguin fic of three chapters that was written as a gift to CoffeeTimeWorks. I'm really happy with how it turned out, I made sure to keep it wholesome.

Temporary life update: I've been putting a lot of my energy and creativity into the Kidd Pirates Month. I'll finish the Modern AU chapters on that that I've got set up and then maybe skip a few days cause I'm not feeling a few of the prompts.

Oh! I only just realized I could also just copy-paste the entire fic to here. My bad!

Summary:

What Penguin didn't expect was for a cute-as-a-mitten tiny girl to wave at the Polar Tang cheerfully as they made port at an island. What he expected even less was for that girl to come running up to him and calling him her dad. A gift to CoffeeTimeWorks for making me care about this silly bird man far more than I ever did before finding your art.

Notes:

For CoffeeTimeWorks.

Between this and "Daddy Doflamingo" I seem to have a bit of a habit of writing cute toddlers and loving fathers in the One Piece universe. I don't have daddy issues, you do!

Chapter 1

Things have been peaceful on the Polar Tang. Too peaceful.

Well, that's not to say that things have been quiet. They never are, that's something Penguin and Shachi personally make sure of.

They consider it part of their "Prankster Officer" job that they even have official badges for.

Which Law keeps throwing out into the ocean every time he sees them. Good thing Penguin and Shachi are good swimmers!

Beyond the ocassional turbulences of undersea volcanoes, hot smokers and other New World dangers the Polar Tang gets to avoid a lot of the terrible weather by remaining submerged.

Currently, the prankster officers are a little too busy to pull any pranks. They've been studying a dance choreography together with Bepo at his request.

Lately all Bepo has been talking about is the popstar Uta, and Shachi loves dancing anyways, so he roped Penguin into this as well.

Their current dance session in the control room is interrupted when some of the devices start blinking. Bepo frowns and rushes over, doing some navigating shenanigans.

Shachi and Penguin pause, exchanging a look with each other. "What's wrong, Bepo?"

Bepo turns to them, eyes sparkling with excitement. "We're nearing the next island!"

"YES!" The two high five each other and rush out of the room, shouting to every crew member who will listen about them approaching the next island.

They barge into Law's room, eager to tell him of the news, but pause when they see him in his wooden chair, only two of its feet on the ground as it leans against the back wall, a book over his head. A faint snore can be heard from him and the two troublemakers exchange a smirk and slink back out of the room. Captain gets too little sleep as is, so it's an unspoken rule on the Tang that noone disturb him when he does actually get any sleep for once, no matter if something important is happening or not.

He'll yell at them later for not waking him, but they care for his health far more than him yelling at them.

A few hours later, the Tang has surfaced and land is already in sight. Penguin is up in the crow's nest together with Clione, spyglass in hand.

It appears to be a winter island judging by the light snowfall that has set in and the wintery landscape he's able to see through the spyglass. The shore seems to border a beautiful pine tree forest with snow coating the trees. Captain's gonna be happy once he sees this. They've already had to physically restrain Bepo from just diving into the waves and swimming to the island quicker to roll around in the snow. But he still needs to make sure that the Tang is securely docked before their navigator can head off board.

Penguin watches happily as the air he breathes out becomes visible from the chill in the air. He immediately descends from the crow's nest and heads to one of the windows looking inside the Tang, breathing on it and painting a happy little penguin face on it.

Shachi calls out to him. "Oi! Pen!"

Penguin turns around just in time to see Shachi finish putting a knitted pullover on the crew's small dog, Onigiri. Jean Bart took up knitting a few years back and ever since the crew has been proud to call themselves the owners of a lot of knitted goods.

Onigiri stands there, looking absolutely indignified and like he's been frozen into an ice statue. Penguin laughs, crouches down in front of Onigiri and pets him between the ears where he likes it best. "Come on, buddy. You know your fur isn't warm enough for winter islands. It's for your own good."

Onigiri glares up at him through his cute little beady eyes before snapping up at him with half-effort.

Penguin pats his back some more before getting back up. "You'll enjoy yourself once we're in the snow."

When they've finally arrived at the island and docked the Tang at the small harbor, there's a surprise waiting in store for them.

There's an about six year old girl in a large yellow skiing jacket bouncing up and down with excitement. In her arms she's holding a plushie of a penguin that's about half her size.

Law, who's finally woken up, is the first to get off the submarine and look at the girl curiously. She has raven black hair and piercing blue eyes and looks at the arriving pirates with nothing short of absolute awe and admiration.

Law's voice is gruff and still a bit hoarse from sleep as he addresses her. "Hello."

The little girl looks a bit spooked to be addressed by someone as grouchy looking as Law, but quickly gathers her courage. "H-Hi! A-are you the... the Corazón Pirates?"

Law flinches as if struck. "I guess so. We call ourselves the Heart Pirates though."

The little girl nods seriously. "Right! My mamá and I talk a different language at home. My bad!"

She seems to be gathering her courage for a short while, before speaking quickly, seemingly wanting to get the words out before her courage leaves her. "Your captain. He- He's called Pingüino, right?"

Law scoffs. "What? I'm the captain. Do you mean Penguin?"

Her eyes start sparkling and she points at her penguin plushie excitedly. "Yes! Yes, this one! The one with the same name as this animal. Is he here?! Can I see him?!"

She stands on her toes, trying to get a look at the crew disembarking the ship behind Law.

Law's eyes narrow. "Why do you want to see him?"

She grins, proud of herself for knowing something he doesn't. "It's a secret!"

Law sighs and contemplates her small frame standing before him. If this was a trap, their enemy would be incredibly foolish to send a small, vulnerable girl like her to lure them in. More likely she'd snuck out without her parents' knowledge. "What's your name, kid?"

Her eyes widen in shock. "I'm not supposed to tell strangers that!"

Law huffs in amusement. Apparently talking to strangers is fine, but telling them her name crosses a line. "Fine. I'll get Penguin for you."

"Yes, please!" She does a respectful little bow, stumbling and catching herself as she almost floors herself with the penguin plushie.

He heads back to the crew and approaches Penguin, who's currently trying to encourage Onigiri to stop being stubborn and finally start walking on his own. "Penguin. That little girl standing there. She's asking for you."

Penguin's brows crease in confusion. "What? Asking for me?"

Law just shrugs. "Take the mutt and ask her what she wants. She won't tell me."

Penguin gives him a half-hearted glare at him calling Onigiri a mutt, but complies, picking up the stubborn furball in his arms and heading over to the strange little girl.

He crouches down in front of her and gives her a warm smile. "Hi! I'm Penguin. Nice to meet you! You were asking for me?"

Her eyes are sparkling, and it gets even more intense when she sees Onigiri in his arms.

"H-H-Hi! You- You're really Penguin?"

Penguin nods and scratches Onigiri between the ears again while he waits for her to gather her composure again.

"I- I- My mamá told me so much about you!"

He stares at her dumbfounded. "Your mom knows me?"

She beams and nods eagerly and presents her penguin plushie to him. "Yeah! This is for you! If you come with me!"

Penguin can't help but chuckle. "Are you trying to bribe me right now?"

"Yes! Come, come, come!!" She's bouncing up and down with excitement again.

"Calm down for a second. What's your name? And how does your mom know me?"

"I'm Yuki! Well, easy! Cause you're my dad!"

Penguin's brain short circuits. He just stares at the girl with his mouth open, unable to think a single other thought. Her... dad?

"Hihi! You look funny!" Yuki is clearly enjoying his confusion. "Come on, I want you to meet my mamá!"

He's in a complete daze as he gets up and lets her guide him to her home by her hand, Onigiri still snuggled against him in his other arm.

They don't have to walk very far, Yuki's home being not far into the pine tree forest. It's a small but cozy cottage nestled comfortably into the thick of the trees.

Onigiri's nose has started twitching in excitement at all of the different scents surrounding them, but Penguin has been holding onto him tightly.

If he let him run off here they'd never find him again, and he doesn't know if the wildlife on this winter island is dangerous yet either.

Yuki opens the door for him and gestures for him to step inside.

The strong scent of delicious cooking wafts through the air as they enter, and Penguin can barely keep himself from starting to drool.

Onigiri doesn't know such restraint and actively starts to drool.

When they make it to the cramped kitchen in the cottage, Penguin wonders if he's dead.

The woman standing there cooking in an apron looks like an actual angel come to life.

He must be in heaven. Or maybe he didn't die, but Shachi put some suspicious things into their last meal again. Wouldn't be the first time that happened.

She's got long, golden hair, tied back behind her head in a ponytail, humming to herself as she cooks, lifting the lid off of a pot and peering inside, clearly not having heard them come in through the loud sizzling noise present in the kitchen.

"Mamá! Mira a quién encontré!", Yuki yells over the noise. The angel turns around and her eyes widen as she sees Penguin.

Beautiful, icy blue eyes, the same that he's seen on Yuki. It's true. He's either on some substance or deceased.

There's no way a beauty like her actually exists. Like something out of a dream.

His lack of focus allows for Onigiri to escape, and he lunges towards the stove, eager to find out what it is exactly that smells so nicely.

The angel proves to not only have divine looks but also quick reflexes as she catches Onigiri mid-air before he can burn himself on the hot stove.

She furrows her brows and inspects the strange, rice-ball looking little creature in a red knitted pullover with an Onigiri stitched on top.

She looks a little suspicious at this stranger having come into her house uninvited, especially having come in here together with her daughter.

Penguin wants to say something. Anything. But he's completely speechless, so he just stands there, staring at the angel before him, mouth agape, making an utter fool out of himself.

Chapter 2: The night we met

Summary:

One fateful night leads to unforeseen consequences Penguin doesn't learn about until years later.

When the Heart Pirates party, they party hard. Well. 95% of the Heart Pirates.

There is always one particular grouchy man sitting in a corner keeping an eye on his crew.

Sometimes Shachi and Penguin spike Law's coffee when they already know the crew will be partying in the evening.

There's no way they'll let their friend avoid having fun completely, and Law's shenanigans when drunk tend to be absolutely legendary.

Like that time he'd reassembled his own body parts to replace his arms with his legs for what had to be the craziest bit of breakdancing known to mankind.

Which he'd firmly denied ever having done the next morning, naturally.

This day is one of those days where Penguin slipped a bit of vodka into Law's coffee. Sometimes he wonders why Law never protests. Maybe he secretly enjoys getting to let loose, especially given it's not out of his own choice.

So when the Hearts head to the local pub in the evening (there's said to be an anonymous mask ball), Law already seems a little more relaxed than usual.

The masks everyone is wearing are a little ridiculous. Hakugan, the one crew member known to wear a mask on a regular basis, is wearing a mask designed to look like Bepo, while Bepo is wearing a replica of Hakugan's usual mask.

Law made a very intricate mask that resembles Sora, Jean Bart's mask looks like one of the giants from the children's book "Brag Men", Ikkaku has put on a mask with a long nose resembling the Strawhat's sniper Usopp (whom she's been dating on and off, a well-kept secret among the crew, which is to say everyone knows about it and keeps teasing her with it).

Shachi is in top form tonight, going above and beyond in having made a full-body orca suit, which coincidentally leaves his face open. Penguin keeps teasing him that he failed with his costume in covering the one single part he's actually meant to cover but Shachi just grumbles something about his sunglasses hiding him well enough.

Penguin himself had been indecisive for the longest while. If he dresses up like his namesake Shachi and the others will make fun of him for being boring, but if he dresses up as anything else they'll tell him to stop being so extra.

He sighs, looking at himself in the mirror. He loves getting to be with his best friends and found family all the time, but sometimes he does wish they'd be a little less predictable (and preferably less judgemental as well).

When the evening comes around, Penguin has shrouded himself in a dark cloak with a hood, hiding his costume underneath.

He ignores the pestering of all of his other crewmates to tell them what his disguise is as they make their way to the pub.

When they get there, the first party-goers have already arrived. It's not very crowded yet, but the din makes it a little hard to communicate already.

Shachi nudges Penguin. "Come ooooon, Pen! Stop hiding your disguise away already! Did you even dress up? Is the cloak your entire disguise?"

Penguin huffs. "Obviously not. I'm not that boring, thanks."

Shachi shrugs and goes off to fetch drinks for the entire crew.

As it draws later in the evening, everyone's having a good time. Penguin is still in his cloak, feeling a little self-conscious about his disguise now that there's so many people around.

He's currently leaning against a wall near the exit, when he notices somebody new come in.

An angel with long golden hair. Well, at least her disguise is that of an angel, wearing a golden carneval mask over her eyes and fluffy white wings on her back.

Penguin's pulse skyrockets just from seeing her. He wants to dance with her. He's gonna dance with her.

The amount of drinks he's had so far are facilitating the decision making by a lot as he boldly steps toward the angel, speaking in a voice way deeper than his natural tone to impress her. "Hello there, beautiful lady. Could I ask for your first dance?" He curtsies in front of her slightly.

The woman seems completely bewildered at immediately being asked to dance right after coming into the pub. "Uh. Hi. Uh. I'm gonna go get a drink first. Is that okay?"

The drunk Penguin immediately sees his chance and offers. "I'll get it for you. What would you like?"

After giving him the name of her drink of choice, Penguin swiftly goes to fetch it for her. He'll have to get rid of his cloak to dance with her, else he might trip over it and embarass himself. He's generally a little more prone to stumbling when around pretty women, so he'll have to be extra careful.

When he returns and offers her the drink which she gladly accepts, she smiles awkwardly. "So... to whom do I owe the drink?"

Penguin lifts back the hood of his cloak, revealing the large mustache he put on and his black hair which is far more tousled and messy than usual (a deliberate choice and not just his last-minute panic about what costume to choose, for sure.) Although most of his hair is hidden by the large pirate hat.

The angel's eyes widen. "G-Gold Roger?"

Penguin winks at her. "Yeah! Well, I'm not quite the king of the pirates. Yet. But the crew I captain will get there once we reach the end of the Grand Line for sure!"

The angel laughs. "Guess we're polar opposites then. I'm dressed as an angel, and you've put on the guise of the devil himself." But then she catches herself. "W-wait. You're an actual pirate? Not just dressed up as one?"

Penguin quickly reassures her. "We're a good crew! I promise. We have a lot of heart." He smiles stupidly at his own joke, completely oblivious to the fact that the woman wouldn't know him to be a Heart Pirate.

The two proceed to dance, Penguin miraculously only stepping on her feet twice as the angel proves to be a great dancer (or simply great at avoiding his two left feet.)

Since she'd come into the pub on her own Penguin drags her with him to meet his crew, where Law is thankfully not feeling social enough to talk to her, else his lie about being captain might have been revealed.

As the night draws on, a karaoke is set up with an impromptu stage and a microphone den den mushi available for those who are brave enough to face the audience.

Penguin, who's become absolutely smitten with the angel since the moment he first laid his eyes on her, immediately grabs the chance. He whispers into her ear. "Are you ready to witness the amazing singing talents of Captain Penguin of the Heart Pirates?"

She giggles, pretty drunk at this point as well. "Give it all you have, captain!"

What follows is what is indubitably the worst rendition of a romantic song the pub in question has ever had the misfortune of hearing. Penguin has many talents, but singing isn't one of them.

But he sings with gusto, facing the angel and striking dramatically romantic poses all the while, making her giggle more and more, which is all Penguin cares about in that moment.

As it gets even later in the evening - some of the crew members had already headed back home to the Tang - Penguin is simply not willing to let this lovely evening with the woman of his dreams end. He still doesn't know her name, which doesn't prove to be an issue as he simply drunkenly calls her "love of his life" every time.

After being dared to do just that by Shachi, he invites her to spend the night with him. Unwilling to get himself a stern lecture by Law, Penguin arranges for one of the guest rooms situated above the pub, not wanting for his captain to come ruin his fortune by preventing him from having fun as always.

The angel - who's just as drunk as Penguin - freezes at the invite, and very seriously asks him to pinky swear to her that he's a gentleman and not an evil pirate and won't harm her.

After the pinky swear, she doesn't seem to have a single concern left in her drunken mind.

After what Penguin would later refer to as the best and probably most drunken night of his life, the two wake up in each other's arms.

Which would be incredibly romantic and sweet and crap, why doesn't Penguin remember the name of the lovely woman in his arms??, when he realises that they're not alone in the room.

He tenses when his eyes fall on his captain, who looks like he's about to pop a vein on his forehead with how furious he looks.

Penguin freezes and stares at Law like a deer in headlights. He mouths a silent "What?", not wanting to wake the lovely woman beside him.

Law gestures for Penguin to get up and follow him outside. Penguin silently shakes his head, unwilling to leave the warm cocoon that is the angel's embrace.

He looks down at her wistfully. She really is very beautiful. Maybe he's still drunk. Normally he doesn't have a single chance with someone of her caliber.

Shachi does keep telling him how being drunk will "make even the ugliest hag look like a royal princess". Which Penguin hopes isn't right. Because he'd very much like the beauty in his arms to be real. And his.

Apparently Law's hung over patience has been worn thin, because the next thing he knows is he's been shambled outside of the room, in front of Law, stark naked. He squeaks in a very unmanly fashion before glaring at Law. "What the hell, captain!"

Law wordlessly hands him some clothes. "You and I are going to have a serious talk about safety. Do you have any idea how long I've been looking for you? I thought you'd been kidnapped. But no. Of course. Just couldn't keep it in your pants. Damned moron."

Law already sets out to leave, expecting Penguin to follow him. Penguin, now wearing his clothes, stares after him.

His pounding headache from the hangover isn't helping him in thinking clearly, but he hates this. He hates that he doesn't know the name of the woman he was with, he hates that he can't get to say goodbye, he hates that he has to leave her right now without having even gotten to have the basic decency of letting her wake up in his arms.

Between the pounding headache and his rapidly increasing guilt and sadness, he's feeling like a horrible worm of a man.

He quickly steps back into the pub room, looking around in the drawers. Finally he finds a pen to write with. In lack of anything else to write on he tears a piece of his vivre card off, which he always has on him, even in the Gold Roger costume he wore last night.

He writes on the card. "I'm sorry but I have to leave. You're amazing and I love you. Yours truly, Captain Penguin of the Heart Pirates." She doesn't need to know he's not actually Captain. He'll look cooler that way.

He's really not good at writing cards. Especially not when hung over. Is "I love you" too much? Surely not. People write "Love, xxx" all the time. Which basically means "I love you, kiss kiss kiss." Right?

He doesn't have any time to contemplate any longer. The blue film of Law's room spreads out around him, and suddenly he finds himself Shambles'd beside Law once more.

Six long years pass after that fateful night. Six long years during which Penguin tries to recall the face of the woman he'd been with, but to no avail. Her name, her looks, it has all been lost to his drunken stupor. All he remembers is that she'd looked like an angel.

He's not a stranger to one-night-stands, much to the dismay of Law who keeps lecturing him and Shachi on safety as if they were still teens, but that one woman he's sure can't have been real. He must have dreamt it. It simply was too good to be true.

Chapter 3: Mama Bird

Summary:

Back to the present!

Chapter Text

Penguin gulps, staring at the lovely woman in the kitchen before him. He's definitely noticing how carefully she's holding Onigiri, which is already earning her major bonus points with him.

He clears his throat. "Uhh. Hi."

She blinks at him. "Hi."

Thankfully Yuki interrupts what would only be a rather awkward silence. "Look, mamá! This is Pingüino! The capitán! I found him!"

The woman frowns at Yuki. "Were you at the port again, Yuki? How many times do I need to tell you that pirates are dangerous? You can't just approach them."

Yuki shakes her small head. "But mamá!! Are you even listening?? This is Pingüino! My dad!!"

The woman huffs and crosses her arms, fixing Penguin with a glare. "Prove it."

Penguin's throat goes dry. Prove it? How? "Uh. My name is written on my hat?", he suggests, pointing at the hat in question.

Yuki laughs loudly at that. "He's wearing his own name in case he forgets! That's smart!"

A faint smile plays around the woman's lips at that. "Hm. I guess that's a good point. Yuki, watch the kitchen."

The woman heads off to rummage in some drawers in the living room before returning with a piece of paper. "This should prove it without a doubt."

She places the piece of paper on the palm of her hand and then watches as it starts moving towards Penguin with infallible accuracy.

Penguin stares at it wide-eyed. "You have my vivre card?"

"You're the one that gave it to me." She takes the vivre card and hands it to him.

When he reads the words, he blushes scarlet read. He recognizes his own writing, even if he doesn't remember giving it to her. It reads: "I'm sorry but I have to leave. You're amazing and I love you. Yours truly, Captain Penguin of the Heart Pirates."

Penguin's mouth suddenly feels very dry. "Uhm. Yeah. Well. I am Penguin. Heh."

The woman's eyes narrow. "You left. Without a single word. Why did you even follow Yuki here?"

Penguin sighs. "Look. I'm sorry. Even though I must have been pretty drunk cause I barely remember any of this, I wouldn't normally leave someone right after... well, you know. Something must have come up. And I was curious to see if it was true. If I'd actually-" He trails off. He can't say "be Yuki's dad." The words just won't come out of his mouth.

He clears his throat, his voice suddenly assuming a much higher pitch. "Uhm. Am I? Her dad? Without a doubt?"

He's freaking out a little on the inside, but the woman just nods. "Yeah. I don't- make a habit of sleeping around. Didn't back then, either."

Penguin blinks owlishly as his eyes go from Yuki to the woman and back again. "Uh. Then why did you- Why did we...?"

She sighs. "Honestly, you were really cute. I was quite drunk too and you kept giving me love confession after love confession that night. I couldn't resist. It was just so different from anyone who just wanted to take me to bed. Even if we did go there, so maybe it was all just an act." She frowns, looking at Penguin scrutinizingly.

Penguin fidgets awkwardly. "So. Uh. Did you have any help? With, uh, having the baby? Raising her?" His eyes scoot over to Yuki again, although he's suddenly a little shy to look at her now that it's been confirmed that he is her actual father.

The woman shrugs. "For the most part, yeah. The villagers on this island are really nice. They helped me out even though I'm an outsider. I don't have any family here, so I probably would have been screwed without them."

Penguin breathes out in relief. "At least that." He takes a few moments to compose himself before adding. "I-I'm sorry. That I didn't uh, use protection that night. That I did that to you."

The woman huffs. "We were both really drunk. But I appreciate the apology."

Yuki guides Penguin to sit down on the sofa in the small living room, before bouncing up and down before him. "So now that you're here, you're gonna stay with us, right? I have so many drawings I wanna show you!!"

Penguin first feels a hot, then a cold shiver run down his spine. "Uhh. About that? I- I can't exactly leave my crew behind, little one." He looks down at Yuki, admiring her features. He actually has a child. That's still so unreal to him. How's that even possible? He's just Penguin. Troublemaker, prankster officer. Not a responsible parent figure by any means. Oh god, Law's going to kill him.

The woman sighs. "He's right, Yuki. He's a dangerous pirate, even if he looks pretty mellow." Penguin squawks in indignation, but she pays him no mind and continues. "But you can still show him your drawings, okay? Go fetch all of them. I'll make sure he doesn't run away again." At the last words, she shoots Penguin another glare, and he flinches at the venom behind that look. Okay, so she definitely isn't really happy with him, no matter how civil she's been acting so far. Good to know.

Penguin bites his lip, feeling horrible. If what the woman said is true, then Yuki's been running to the harbor every time a ship came by, hoping it would be Penguin and his crew this time. How heartbreaking would it be for her if he just up and left again? But he can't give up on his life, on his friends, on Law, Shachi, Bepo and everybody else. He just can't. He can feel himself start to sweat as he sits there, uncomfortably aware of being alone in the room with the woman at the moment.

Finally, he manages to gather his courage to ask. "I- I don't even know your name."

The woman's eyes widen. "Are you kidding me?"

Penguin squeaks again. "I'm so sorry! I barely remember anything from that night, remember!"

She huffs. "Yeah, okay, makes sense. Just feels a bit ludicrous that you've had such a large impact on my life and don't even remember my name. Not like you remember anything else either, I guess. My name is Anita."

She sighs, letting Onigiri down on the ground to go explore the surroundings, having held onto him until this moment.

"Look, I'm really sorry, okay? I- I hate myself for not getting to say goodbye to you that morning and for- for not being there for Yuki. I mean, I still don't feel like I could be a dad, cause that's just surreal but still. I didn't mean to ruin your life like that."

Anita shakes her head. "My life isn't ruined, and don't you dare let Yuki hear that. She's my pride and joy. I'm glad I've got her. Things haven't been easy for us. But we have each other."

Something about that resonates within Penguin, reminding him of two little boys that lived on Swallow Island, having nobody but each other.

"Can I- Can I help you? In any way? I want to help."

Anita frowns, clearly thinking it over. "We don't have a lot, but we're happy. Yuki's growing so fast, she keeps needing new clothes, so I guess if you have gold to spare I'd ask for that."

"Yeah. Of course. Anything to help. I'll give you all my savings. We all share our loot amongst each other on the crew anyways so I'll make some again soon."

Anita looks genuinely surprised. "Really? You're just going to part with all of your personal savings? I guess you're not just all talk."

Penguin feels incredibly offended that she'd thought that. "Come on, angel- I mean, Anita! I'm not a horrible person." And then, with a very small voice he adds, tone full of self-doubt: "Just a deadbeat dad, apparently."

Yuki comes back into the room, carrying a plethora of drawings and sketchbooks in her hand.

They're incredibly messy, but Penguin's heart sings with joy as the little girl shows him all of her drawings so proudly.

A lot of them are about him, although in her drawings he more looks like a human-sized penguin mink than an actual human.

There's scenes of him holding Yuki's hands, holding Anita's hands, so much wishful imagining of a family life as three. Penguin's heart breaks just thinking about leaving these two behind.

He carefully strokes over Yuki's head. "You're a great artist, Yuki. I bet you'll be a world famous painter one day!"

Yuki's eyes shine with glee. "You really think so?!"

"I'm sure of it."

Onigiri, who's now done inspecting the living room, hops onto Yuki's lap and sniffs her eagerly, making her put aside her drawings. He starts licking her leg and she giggles. "That tickles! Stop, little perro!"

Penguin didn't realize he was crying out of happiness until he sees the tears drop down onto the sofa. He quickly wipes them away, glancing over at Anita who's viewing him with an inscrutable expression.

He clears his throat before speaking, even though he can't completely hide the teary note from his voice. "The dog's name is Onigiri. He's our crew dog. He's the best guard dog any pirate crew has ever had."

Yuki giggles. "But he's so tiny! Any thief would probably just overlook him!"

As if Onigiri understood what she said, he hops off of Yuki's lap and onto Penguin's, settling down comfortably for a nap, completely content with his exploration of the surroundings and having made sure this is a safe place to stay for himself and Penguin, like a good protector dog would.

Penguin gathers his courage and speaks up almost timidly. "Yuki. Do you like living here?"

Yuki furrows her brows in confusion. "Huh? Yeah. This place is nice. Why?"

Penguin gulps and looks away. "I- I'll have to set off with my crew again. Probably sooner than later, our captain is very impatient once we've restocked on supplies."

Yuki's lip starts quivering. "WHAT? Already? B-but I only just met you and I only just showed you half of my drawings and I've waited for so long and-"

Before he knows it, he's got a crying child flinging herself at him. Onigiri yips and looks up in concern, having been woken up from his slumber.

Penguin holds Yuki awkwardly in his arms, trying to hug her back well, but the feeling is leaving him very confused. He's never had to do much with children but he already feels incredibly guilty for making Yuki cry like this, no matter how true his words might be.

He looks to Anita helplessly, but she just shrugs, not having a remedy for this either.

Yuki sniffles against his side. "I've only just met you. You can't just leave me again!"

Penguin holds her closely and sighs. "I- I can't give up my pirate life. My friends. I'm really sorry. I wish I could stay with you, and I'd love to see all of your other drawings too, but..."

But they're interrupted as a few men suddenly enter the cabin. Penguin tenses up at first but relaxes once he recognizes Shachi, Hakugan and Uni. "Why are you here?"

Shachi grins from ear to ear. "Captain sent us. We're supposed to help the lovely ladies pack." He winks at Anita flirtatiously, which makes Penguin feel a lot more jealous and protective than he has any right to.

Penguin frowns. "Help them pack? Why? What the hell is going on here?" Anita adds: "That's what I'd like to know."

Uni explains. "Bepo overheard what the little girl said to you with his fine hearing. He got super excited that you're a dad and immediately told Law. Who absolutely lost his shit-" He breaks off to giggle. "But then he said that the three of us should follow after you and help the little girl and her mother pack."

Anita huffs. "What the hell kind of decision is that? He can't just... abduct us."

Shachi grins even wider. "Not an abduction! But if you're the mother of Penguin's kid, and that there is actually Penguin's kid, then you're gonna come with us, of course. Cause that makes ya family!"

Anita looks absolutely bewildered and speechless, but Yuki looks beyond excited. "C-Come with you? Can I come with you, Pingüino? Then you won't have to leave me again!"

Hakugan frowns. "Wasn't that the plan to begin with? The hell were you gonna do, Penguin, just leave them here knowing you have a family?"

Penguin is getting redder and redder by the minute. "I-It's not like I was in a relationship with Anita here before. It was just a one-night-stand."

Anita nods. "Yeah. I'd be mad to just leave everything and join a pirate crew on a whim."

Shachi laughs heartily. "Well, good! We're a bunch of madlads too, so you'll fit right in with our crew!"

Penguin can't help but feel incredible uncomfortable with how lightly Shachi's taking this. He turns to Anita pleadingly. "I-Is that something you'd be willing to consider? Coming with us? We're a good crew, I promise. Things can get dangerous, but-" He looks down, fidgeting with his hands. "Things can get dangerous everywhere. Pirates could come to this seemingly peaceful island too. If you come with us-" He looks back up, meeting her eyes, his expression serious. "Then I promise you on everything I hold dearly that I will protect you and Yuki with my life."

Yuki cheers happily. "I'll start packing right away!!"

Anita still looks a little frozen and unsure, but it's obvious that Penguin's heartfelt words have moved her, even if only a little.

She finally voices her concerns. "But won't it be weird? I'm not a pirate. I don't- I've never even learned to fight. I don't belong on a crew like yours."

Penguin, heart beating in his throat, gets up and sits down beside Anita, taking one of her hands into both of his. "Anita. That's not something I would ever expect of you. You'd just do whatever you can, and that'd be good enough." It feels like his heart's beating out of his chest as he adds. "But I- I'd love to get to know you. Properly. To get to know Yuki. If- If captain is really okay with this-" He turns to look at Shachi, who nods, before looking back at her. "Then I'd be really happy to have you join us. I'll make sure you won't lack for anything. And I'll even protect you from captain's moodswings." He adds the last part with a crooked grin, making Uni and Hakugan snicker in the background.

Anita sighs and looks down at her hand in his. "I- I wouldn't mind it so much for me. But I can't endanger Yuki by any means. I can't let her come to harm just because-" She's clearly struggling to let herself be so vulnerable, especially now that three other strangers have come into the room too. "Just because I'd like for her to get to be part of an actual family. Because I'd love to not be so alone anymore."

Just then, Shachi gets a ring on his baby transponder snail. "What is it?", he asks. Bepo's voice responds. "The radars have detected a large ship coming this way. We can't see them yet, it could be marines or other pirates. Finish packing and get back here as quickly as you can!"

Penguin freezes in fear. Maybe he won't have the necessary time to convince Anita and Yuki to come join them. Maybe it's all been for naught. What if he will never see them again after this? Never get to properly get to know this angelic woman and his very own daughter? He pleads with her. "Please. Anita. What if it's a crew full of dangerous pirates? Or even corrupt marines? Please. Don't just reject this."

Anita takes a deep breath, clearly realizing the urgency of the situation. "If Yuki and I join you and I realize that it's too dangerous for us to be on your crew. Would you let us get off again? Build a new life on a peaceful island?"

Penguin nods seriously. "Yes. I would. I swear to you, that I will respect whatever decision you make. We're an honorable crew. I promise to you that you can trust us."

No matter how true his words may be, he worries that she's not going to believe him. Why should she, after all? She barely knows him. He's not sure if he would trust him if he was in her shoes.

She exhales deeply and makes her decision. "Fine. We're coming with you. Yuki. This is urgent. We're only taking the emergency suitcases and everything you can gather within five minutes. Understand?"

Yuki does a little salute and immediately scuttles off to fetch her belongings.

Shachi looks impressed as he asks. "Emergency suitcases?"

Anita nods as she gets up and produces a suitcase from the wardrobe. "Yeah. We always keep them handy and restocked. They have money, emergency food and changes of clothing. I've had to flee the places I lived in a few times before. Best to be prepared."

Shachi looks seriously impressed, and Penguin feels much the same way. Before he can stop himself, he blurts out. "Wow, you're amazing, angel. I mean, Anita." He quickly corrects himself, blushing hard.

"Why do you keep calling me angel?", Anita asks as she grabs some of her other belongings strewn about into various other backpacks and bags.

Penguin clears his throat, mortified to admit to this in front of the other three. "Well, cause you look like one. You're just as beautiful."

As expected, all three of his crewmates start snickering, overjoyed to get to overhear this embarassing moment.

Anita just laughs softly. "Oh. Yeah. I vaguely remember you saying something like that when I met you."

Yuki and Anita are ready to leave just a few minutes later. Penguin takes the time to ask them once more. "Are you sure about this?"

Anita nods, expression a mix of grim determination. "Yeah. I'll hold you to that promise. Yuki's safety comes first."

Penguin nods. "You have my word. Let's go." He quickly fetches Onigiri into his arms to make sure the little troublemaker won't cost them any time on their way to the ship.

They make haste, Shachi and Hakugan taking over carrying the suitcases and Uni the bags as Penguin lets Yuki ride on his shoulders. Her legs are simply too short to uphold the speed of the adults. Anita had initially been the one to offer to carry her but Penguin had waved her offer aside with a gentle smile. "No need. I've got more than enough strength to go around."

What Anita had said before was true. She wasn't a fighter, or trained by any means. Even with their heavy cargo the four Heart Pirates would easily outpace her, but they make sure to match her speed to not make her feel like a burden.

When they arrive on the Polar Tang and get on board, most everybody else is already inside, ready to submerge.

Bepo ushers them inside, although he's visibly extremely excited to get to meet Penguin's daughter. Which is still incredibly surreal to Penguin. Once they've all made it inside, Law's there, waiting for Anita and Yuki. He formally introduces himself. "Hello. My name is Trafalgar Law. I am the captain of this vessel. As I'm sure my men have told you, you are free to stay with us for as long as you wish. You are now officially under the protection of the Heart Pirates, whereever you are or may go."

Penguin preens, feeling incredibly proud to serve under such a good captain and awesome friend.

Anita replies just as politely. "Thank you. I'll make sure not to be a burden to you or your crew. I greatly appreciate everything you're doing for us."

She seems very tense, like she's about to run away, so Penguin steps up beside her and puts a hand on her back, just the faintest hint of a  touch to reassure her instead of scaring her further. "I'm here. You and Yuki aren't alone, ya hear me?" He gives her one of his winning smiles, the type that make every lady swoon with a 100% chance of success (in his dreams, at least).

Anita looks a little confused at his smile but then nods, Yuki clinging onto her leg.

Law exchanges a meaningful glance with Penguin. "You and I are going to have one long talk once we're submerged and these two are settled in."

Penguin nods ruefully, already dreading that happening. He smiles at Anita and Yuki. Come on. I'll show you what room you're going to stay in until we've figured out the new living arrangements. I'm sure it's a bit overwhelming, being around this many strangers and what with us about to submerge as well."

Anita nods gratefully, while Yuki doesn't seem scared in the slightest, taking in the inside of the Polar Tang with wide, curious eyes.

Penguin can't help but feel happy as he sees her expression. His daughter's expression. He's going to make damn sure that she gets to have an awesome and fun time on this ship. While he's still terrified of suddenly being a dad now, he's starting to get more and more excited by the idea of it. And even if he struggles with it, he's got the Heart Pirates to back him up when he needs them.

Kidd Pirates Month Stories - Part 1

Oneshot Prompts

Most of these chapters / days have been self-sufficient, apart from "Modern AU", where I just kept on going and going to avoid prompts I didn't want to write about. I think I'll post that one separately.

Content warnings: Plenty of cursing. Kid pirates being Kid pirates.

New beginnings - Day 1

Severely injured, stranded and alone, Kidd makes a landing on a mysterious island. Spoilers for 1100s!!

Pain. He’s in so much pain. There’s blood smeared all over his body and he’s pretty sure that there’s something wrong with his left eye, his vision is blurry at best and black spots keep dancing in front of him. Nevertheless, he pushes himself off of the cold shore he stranded at. This must be some cold winter island, the ground he laid on felt completely frozen, leaving his skin where the clothing had been shredded to burn painfully.

Where are the others? The thought strikes him with a searing intensity. He’s captain, he shouldn’t be focusing on himself more than his crew. He grimaces, his neck hurting when he turns his head to look around.

There’s nothing. Just this awfully cold surface that feels like ice but not entirely. Some freakish oddity of the New World, or so he assumes.

This supposed “ice” raises high into mountain-scapes far taller than the Victoria Punk, circling around at the end like waves. The Victoria Punk. What happened to her? Her and the crew. Did they make it out? Are any of them even still alive? He curses, the sound fading to nothing in the vastness of the space he’s in. Where the hell is he gonna go from here?

This island doesn’t look inhabitable in the least. Unless there are some sort of animals living on this ice, he’s gonna starve to death if he doesn’t freeze first.

But even if there are any animals, he’s going to have to be careful. He glances down at his left arm, ending right below the arm stump where his metal arm had been before that cursed battle. Judging by the look of this island he’d be lucky to find any metal in the vicinity to build anything with.

He tries pulling any closeby metal to him, but stumbles back when he’s met with a metal presence so strong it feels like he’s the one being pulled towards it instead of the other way around. He narrows his eyes, staring into the direction of where he can feel the presence’s location, but he can’t see anything. Thick clouds hang low over the island, making sure he can only see the mountains around him.

He's never felt a presence that strong. The metal must either be of a special quality, imbued with some type of Haki or devil fruit he’s unfamiliar with, or just be really incredibly large.

But maybe he can use this phenomenon to his advantage. Looking back, there’s nothing but the empty, wide ocean around him. Not even any signs of the Victoria Punk having been wrecked, no debris swimming around and most worryingly, none of his crewmates either.

He focuses on pulling the metal towards him again, and just like he suspected, he’s actually the one being pulled towards it. He intensifies the pull, until it’s so strong that it actually starts to overcome gravity in pulling him upwards.

This might be a terrible idea, but what has he got to lose at this point? He’s barely alive as it is, if he doesn’t find help soon that’ll be it for him.

Given his state of exhaustion it’s difficult, making sure the magnetic pull is strong enough to pull him in while also not crashing into any of the ice mountains and blocks around him in his flight. He has to take longer and longer breaks as his journey continues.

Eventually he’s made it far enough for the clouds not to intercept his vision anymore. An involuntary tremble of a mix of both excitement and fear runs through him as he views the large longsword before him in the distance.

Large isn’t even the right expression. It’s so huge that Kidd has to crane his neck to follow its sheath upwards, and even then the continuation of the sword is obstructed by green foliage.

Just where the hell is he? Is he even still alive? Is this all just a dream or a fever hallucination caused by the severity of his injuries? There’s no way a sword that large should exist. Because if there is a sword of that size, there would need to be a forge large enough to house it. Beside the smith needing to make it and a wielder to carry it.

Even giants wouldn’t be cut out for the task, and Kidd absolutely hates how small and insignificant this huge-ass longsword is making him feel.

But nonetheless he carries on, letting himself fly towards the large sword which he later learns goes by the name of “Sumarrbrandr”, a sword which would shape his destiny more than he’d ever have had the gall to imagine.

Kidd Pirates as Kids - Day 2

Kidd Pirates Month Stories - Part 1

“Ow!”, he yells, immediately drawing back the finger which he’d gotten squeezed in between two metal parts of his newest invention. He curses as he puts his finger under freezing cold running water to soothe the pain. The piece he’s currently working on has been incredibly hard to make, but it’s all going to be worth it. Now if these damn joints just finally stopped popping off…

Three hours later, he’s bathed in sweat but entirely content with the end results. He tests out the fluidity of the motions before making sure to pack his newest invention carefully, after all it’s a gift for a very special person and he definitely doesn’t want anything to fall apart on his way to her.

When he arrives, he does so at the same time as Killer. They’d both ridden their old run-down bicycles here. Killer also has a big package with him, but by the smell of it, it’s more of the edible kind.

While Killer is part of a rival gang on the island, Kidd doesn’t really dislike him. Killer’s pretty cool, actually, Kidd just can’t say that to his face or he’ll think he’s all that.

After a short dispute of who gets to go through the door first, they finally arrive at the hideout of the one and only Victoria. This place is a peace-zone between all the four gangs led by Kidd, Killer, Heat and Wire on the island, where Victoria reigns supreme.

Kidd and Killer, who are both in love with her, have been trying their damned hardest to get her to join their respective gangs, but to no avail so far. Every single time Kidd asks her to join his gang – and he asks her that a lot – she says that him and Killer should merge their groups, and then she’ll join. Which of course Kidd can’t do. Asking Killer to do that would basically mean submitting and asking anything of Killer. Which would put Kidd in a lower position than Killer, and there’s no way he’s gonna have anyone above him in the hierarchy.

Not even if said person makes some killer food. Pun intended, or so Killer says every time. Kidd rolls his eyes each time he has to hear that, but somehow that bastard makes Victoria laugh with his cheesy lines.

Which is totally stupid. Kidd should be the one making her laugh, not that freaking long-haired, blonde good-for-nothing. Seriously, what self-respecting man has long hair like that? Totally stupid. Not that he's ever gonna say that again.

The first time he'd done that, after getting into a huge fist-fight with each other Killer hadn't shown up at their meetings for a whole week, after which he'd reappeared with hair that he insisted he hadn't cut, but it was pretty obvious to everyone that he had.

The peace between them is rather fragile, but for the most part, they manage to get along. Even though they're constantly fighting over it, they're somewhat okay with sharing Victoria's affections. Begrudgingly. Kind of.

______________________________________________________________

But things change with time, as they always do. A group of criminals docks at the island, trying to take control over Kidd's island. Well, the island he technically shares with Killer, Heat and Wire. But still, mostly Kidd's island. He's the coolest out of the four of them, after all.

Things take a turn for the worse as the newly arrived criminals start terrorizing the towns of the island. Kidd calls in for an emergency meeting with his gang, receiving intel on these new threats from his trusty scouts.

The criminals don't seem particularly organized, but they have the numbers, plus they're all grown-ups, which gives them a boost in strength over his own group. It might be time to do something he'd much rather avoid.

______________________________________________________________

Once they've all assembled around the table at Victoria's place, Kidd stands up and speaks up. He fixes Victoria, Killer, Heat and Wire with a passionate glare. "We need to do something. These criminals are terrorizing the towns. Towns that are ours to terrorize. Not theirs. I propose an alliance. We can't just stand and watch as they ruin everything."

Heat and Wire exchange a look, nodding in agreement. They had already spoken to one another about something of the sort, but hadn't been brave enough to approach the oftentimes volatile Kidd.

Killer frowns. "An alliance. Then who's gonna call the shots? One person will have to. If we just command our respective groups on our own it'll be chaos."

Kidd immediately preens. "Well, obviously that should be me." Heat and Wire speak up loudly in protest and everyone starts arguing until Victoria slams her hands on the table. "Shut up! All of you."

The boys fall silent but keep glaring at one another. Victoria sighs. "You're the same as always. Bickering and bickering for no good reason at all. I'm gonna call the shots."

Everyone turns and stares at her in complete and utter bewilderment. Heat sputters. "B-but... you're a girl. What do you know about fighting?", prompting him to immediately receive two hits from both Kidd and Killer who glare at him furiously.

Killer: "She's twice the man you are, bastard!"

Wire tries to deescalate. "Calm down, both of you. What Heat's trying to say is that all four of us have experience in leading our gangs. Victoria doesn't."

Victoria nods. "Yeah, but while that's true, me not leading one of your gangs means that I don't have my head full of nonsensical competition, like all of you do. And what we need to beat these little shits is unity. Which none of you are capable of, I'm pretty sure. Hence I'll be our shot-caller."

Kidd clearly wants to protest, but he doesn't know how to do it without being as offensive as Heat was, so he stays silent, his head progressively turning more and more red.

______________________________________________________________

Things somewhat work out. The four gangs manage to unite and defeat the intruders, but Victoria takes a serious hit during the course of the battle because she had insisted fighting at the front like all of the other gang leaders. Beyond countless broken bones she loses sight in her left eye, giving her a nasty scar right on her face.

Her recovery is slow and gruelling, but she does recover, much to the relief of Kidd and Killer.

She starts to hate the way she looks now, trying out some eyepatches to cover up until finally deciding to wear a helmet instead. Kidd never tires of telling her that she's still beautiful even with the large scar and her blind eye, now fogged over and staring into nothingness, but Victoria doesn't listen.

Killer tells her the same things, but once she decides to don the helmet, he gives up on trying to fix her self-esteem, and instead makes another helmet just like hers, which he then starts wearing. He makes some for Kidd, Heat and Wire as well. Heat and Wire wear them at first but grow tired of it, while Kidd doesn't want to hide his face away like a coward in the first place.

As the island returns to a somewhat peaceful state, Kidd manages to convince everybody to start a pirate crew and leave home behind.

Seeing as he'd been the only one strong enough to take down the leader of the invaders Kidd gets to become captain, while Victoria becomes first mate, with Killer, Heat and Wire all getting to be officers. Kidd promises them that once they're a big crew they'll get to lead the divisions of their grand fleet. Though he makes Killer promise that he'll always stay on the main ship, because he'd rather not be missing out on his awesome cooking skills. Or his best friend, but that part is left unsaid.

Besides, they are both kind of dating Victoria now, so it'd be unfair to send Killer off elsewhere. As much as Kidd wants her all for himself, he cares for his best friend way too much to want to ruin things between them.

Victoria undergoes plenty of training to become strong enough to be worthy of the position Kidd bestowed upon her.

But even with plenty of training under her belt, she still doesn't take the helmet off.

Her and Killer become known as the massacre soldiers, a formidable duo of sword fighters that tend to fight back-to-back, only surpassed in strength by their captain alone.

Kidd Pirates Month Stories - Part 1

Victoria Lives AU - Day 3

They've made it to the New World. It's been one huge hassle trying to get here, but they're finally here now.

Kidd is currently crucifying some moron who had wanted to go back home from the New World.

What had even been his plan? Take the perilous journey through Fishman Island once more without anyone to coat his ship for him? Beg the nobles for a safe passage across the Red Line?

What a moron. Kidd's basically doing him a favor by crucifying him.

Victoria's off to the side, drinking beer through a straw going through one of the holes in her helmet. Killer's sitting beside her in silent companionship.

Kidd lets out a sinister laugh as his victim screams out in pain. Victoria rolls her eyes and sighs.

"You just have to be this loud, don’t you?"

Kidd frowns and strolls over. "What's wrong? You don't usually mind this kinda stuff." He waves his hand, gesturing to the man flailing on the crucifix.

Victoria shrugs. "I don't care, I just don't understand why you have to be so damn loud about it. Just get it over with. It's not like you've gotta put a show on for anybody."

Kidd exchanges a quick glance with Killer. Usually Victoria would be the first to terrorize victims with him.

Killer scoots a little closer to her on the bench and puts a reassuring hand on her back. "Talk to us, Vicky."

She grumbles for a bit, but eventually relents. "Fine. It's just... another headache. I swear there's something wrong with these islands."

Kidd and Killer exchange another, longer glance. She's not being doing well ever since they entered the New World, the different magnetic fields of the islands somehow affecting her body.

Once he'd found out about it, Kidd had been doing research by raiding libraries as well as torturing scientists of islands they came across for information, but to no avail so far, at least not in that regard. He has been learning a lot of really neat things about island magnetism that he's still working on integrating into his devil fruit usage in the future.

Killer sighs. "None of the other crew members have been experiencing this. But you don't have a devil fruit, so I don't get how you would have any sort of connection to these islands. Hell, if it is even the islands. Maybe it's something else altogether."

Dive, who's been coming closer, beer mug in hand, chimes in. "A lot of the boys got diver's disease from our trip up from Fishman Island. I've managed to treat them, but maybe Vic here has something similar. It only started after we entered the New World, after all."

Victoria grunts and shrugs, dismissing their concern. "Whatever. I'll be okay. Not like some headache's gonna hold me back. Just stop being so fucking loud all the time and I'll be fine."

She heads off towards her tent, leaving her two worried boyfriends and the crew's doctor behind. Kidd sighs. "God dammit. We need her to get better soon. Things are dangerous enough as is without our girl haivng some mystery disease."

Killer nods. "Maybe you should give her a break from being first mate for a while, let me take over temporarily. Maybe she's just stressed? I don't fucking know."

Dive snickers. "She'll bite both of your heads off if you do that."

Kidd snaps at her. "Yeah well then you recommend something if you know better."

Dive falls silent at that and quickly scoots back to the rest of the crew.

Kidd sighs. "Fuck, Killer. I hate not knowing what's gotten Vicky down so bad. How can I protect her from mysterious headaches? I can't fight those."

Killer moves over to sit beside him, wrapping a strong arm around his shoulders. "We'll figure it out eventually. I'm sure of it. Until then, lessen her duties a bit. Let's see if her being less stressed makes anything of a difference. And if nothing else helps..."

Kidd looks at him scrutinizingly, trying to see through that damned helmet. "Then what?"

"Then we should get in contact with that other Supernova. The Surgeon of Death. Let's face it, Dive doesn't have that much of a clue of what she's doing, she's never had any proper training, her knowledge is purely from combat experience. Maybe someone with actual medical training can figure this out."

It goes over about as well as he expected. Kidd jerks up to stand upright, spilling some of his beer through the quick motion. "Beg that spineless bastard for help? No way. He's become a government dog recently. One of the seven warlords. No way am I going to crawl to him begging for help. Over my dead body."

Killer sighs. "What's more important - your pride or Victoria's health?"

Kidd grumbles for a while but eventually settles back down. "Hmpf. Maybe if we just send him a message asking to pay for his services. Like a neutral business deal. Not begging that asshole for shit."

Killer chuckles faintly. "I never said you should."

Kidd smacks him on the head. "Yeah well whatever. Hopefully Vicky stops getting those damn headaches so we don't need to get in contact with him in the first place."

Kidd Pirates Month Stories - Part 1

First Island or Leaving Kutzk - Day 4

The first island they had encountered after leaving their home island had been one situated in the South Blue.

Victoria had had a lot of pent up frustration from having to lay still and heal for the past two weeks (during which they'd waited back on their home island, they didn't want Victoria to miss out on the joys of her first voyage across the sea.)

Once they'd finally arrived at their first island, everyone steps off their small nutshell of a boat with sighs of relief. They're all pretty glad that they hadn't had any storms seeing as the small boat would have tipped over the second the waves got too large.

Building a new one or improving their current boat was the first directive the newly formed Kidd pirates agreed on.

While Kidd knew how to build a lot of things with metal, he didn't know much about how to build a ship. Heat thankfully did, and through the flame-spitting ability he was born with he made sure to char the surface of the wood they built with to carbonize it.

Kidd grumbled plenty about knowing better about ship building than Heat did (which he didn't), his ego didn't take too kindly to having to accept help, especially with Heat being a former rival gang leader.

The Kidd pirates would need a bit of time to really grow together as a crew and start trusting each other.

They ransacked the local workshops for the materials they needed, giving everyone who tried to stand in their way a rough beating until they were left alone to take whatever they wanted.

Eventually, Killer says what they've all been thinking. "We need an actual ship-wright. We can't just wing this. If our ship is no good, we're as good as dead out on the open sea. Especially once we get to the Grand Line."

Victoria giggles, the sound echoing in her helmet. "You guys are all idiots. You've been so hell-bent on building your own ship, you didn't even stop to think of the easiest solution."

Everyone bristles at the insult, but Heat and Wire have learned their lesson from ever insulting Victoria again. (Even playfully, a story the bruises on their body tell all too well.)

Kidd huffs. "Then what's the great plan, Vic?"

Victoria shrugs and gestures towards the harbor. "Easy. We wait for the next big ship to dock, and then we steal it."

Wire pipes up. "You sure this is a good idea? What if it's a marine ship?"

Victoria rolls her eyes. "Oh, grow some balls already, Wire. We're pirates now."

The next ship that docks at the harbor of the island is neither a marine nor a pirate ship, but a luxury cruise ship. It has a large swan head as its figurehead. Stealing it from the civilians isn't so hard, the leftover employees are quickly thrown overboard as the Kidd pirates make themselves comfortable on their new ship.

Kidd immediately sets out to change the swan figurehead ("That's not manly enough!") into a dragon, although it mostly just ends up looking like a ugly snake-bird with scales and bulging eyes.

The five of them argue a lot over what their jolly roger is supposed to look like.

Kidd wants nuts and bolts, Killer wants his and Victoria's helmet and some blades, Heat wants fire and Wire wants some wires on their logo. Victoria is fine with anything so long as it has a really cool sword on it.

They end up all painting the flag on the main mast together, so the end result is completely unrecognizable. While they had all agreed on Kidd's design in the end - with him being captain - they'd all secretly decided that they were going to paint their own design. The end result being one large mess, that is sure not to intimidate any foes. But maybe confuse them into a strategic retreat? Or so Wire suggests.

Card games - Day 5

Introduction to my Kid Pirates OC Pound!

Quincy slams her cards down on the deck and yells. "ARGH! Can you just NOT cheat for once in your damn life?"

Pound shrugs and grins at her, not an ounce of regret on his face. "You have no proof."

Quincy throws two of her throwing knives, aiming them at the sleeves of his sweater, making his ace cards fall out as the tips of the sleeves are cut off.

Pound's grin widens. "Huh! I wonder how those got there? That's weird."

Quincy gets up and yells at Victoria who's standing on deck a couple meters away. "Yo, Vics! You're first mate, get this lousy cheater to actually abide by rules!"

Victoria comes over but doesn't seem to want to do anything. "He's your man. You gotta raise your boys well."

UK, another one of the card game participants, giggles. "Yeah. You gotta do it like Victoria. She's got captain and Killer at her beck and call."

Pound grins, gets up as well and hugs Quincy from behind, mumbling into her ear. "Y'aint ever taming me, babe."

She grunts and rams the back of her elbow into his stomach. "That's for cheating. You're such a crappy loser."

Pound doubles over and clutches his stomach. "OW! Fucking hell, Quince!"

Quincy and Victoria high five each other and head off, talking with each other about how their boys barely listen to anything but direct violence.

Feast - Day 6

Content warning: Kidd Pirates being Kidd pirates and Pound suggesting plenty of violence, cussing, explicit descriptions of injuries, somebody burning to death.

Whereever the Kidd pirates go, they bring chaos. Be it due to them raiding local shops for useful gadgets and berri, or due to them torturing and killing civilians.

Right now, most of the crew are in the local renowned restaurant. Jaguar, Hip and Mosh had a lot of fun beating up the place's security, and now the crew's settled into the place comfortably, legs on the table, feasting on the dishes that the chefs and waiters keep cooking for them.

Pound and Killer are in the kitchen together with the chefs to make sure they don't rebel, poison the pirates or run away. Killer is just silently browsing through the local recipe books while Pound keeps making comments that unsettle the chefs greatly.

"I'm sure your head would look good on one of those fancy platters."

"How about we use your blood as a spice? Might make your crappy cooking taste a bit better."

"Oi, you almost chopped your finger off. Are you struggling to concentrate? Are you scared? Are you a big coward?" And then he distracts the chef in question, who's trembling in fear already, by stepping up right behind him to intimidate him even more. Pound's never been shy of physical contact.

Killer, busy scouring through the recipes doesn't bother correcting his behaviour either.

Meanwhile, Victoria and Quincy are strolling through the town, exploring the other sights. They come across a large tent with the large letters "MADAME FORTUNA" written on top. Quincy scoffs. "Wow. How clichée. How hard is it to come up with a good name when lies and manipulation are your entire business?"

Victoria stops in front of the tent, giving Quincy a sharp look. "I'd like to go in."

"Seriously? Do you believe this kind of superstitious crap?"

Victoria shrugs. "Eh. I bet most of them are scammers, but you never know, right? What with devil fruits and haki being a thing. Maybe there's actual fortune tellers who have such insane observation haki they can see the future."

Quincy groans. "Ever since Kidd read up on haki that's all you guys talk about. Jeez. Damn tryhards."

Victoria immediately defends him. "Oi, he's our captain. He needs to know his stuff. You know damn well he takes our safety seriously. So be fucking grateful."

Quincy rolls her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, princess." She loves mockingly using Kidd's nickname for Victoria whenever the two bicker.

"Go on ahead without me. I'm not asking you to do this with me.", Victoria orders, stepping inside the tent.

Quincy sighs. She'd love to do just that, but she knows that if she runs into Kidd or Killer and they find out she left Victoria behind on her own, they'll have her head on a spike. Figuratively. Maybe literally? She's not so sure with those protective psychos.

They do trust Victoria to handle herself, or so they say, but they've instructed the crew to protect Victoria with their lives. Which is totally favouritism, but noone's really brave enough to argue with Kidd or Killer.

Grumbling to herself about her crew being led by absolute morons, Quincy steps into the tent after Victoria.

The place looks pretty expensive, with velvety walls and carpets laying around. The walls of the tent seem to be rather thick, as it's pitch black inside, safe for the small table shortly above the floor, dimly lit up by a table.

Of course there's a clichée glass ball and a set of tarot cards laying on the side of the fortune teller. Quincy scoffs, already thinking to herself that this must be another charlatan.

Victoria's already sat down on her knees in front of the fortune teller. She seems suprisingly calm and almost solemn, a state Quincy has never seen her in before. Not that it's easy to read Victoria's moods whenever she has the helmet on. Which is practically always.

When Quincy steps closer, she finally gets to see the fortune teller, previously having been blinded by the candle right in front of their face.

Not that their face is visible in the first place. It's hidden away behind a mask, and a creepy one at that.

The eyes of the mask look like somebody took a pencil and drew manic circles over and over and over until the mask broke in at the center.

The mouth of the mask is large and unnatural, teeth painted on with plenty of lipstick present around the masks lips.

But the probably worst part is the stench. Quincy would have expected for a fortune teller to have some sort of scented candles around, some decently smelling herbs, or just, anything appeasing to clients.

Instead it stinks worse than it does in the boys' crew quarters (and that's to say the smell is so bad you could pass out from it if you had a weak stomach).

It stinks of decay, rotten eggs and like the fortune teller hasn't bathed in at least one year.

Quincy is absolutely disgusted, but Victoria seems almost entranced as she's waiting for the fortune teller to speak.

At least the voice of the fortune teller sounds like what you'd expect, a deep, velvety female voice. "Take off your mask, child. Bare your soul to Madame Fortuna."

To Quincy's endless surprise, Victoria abliges. Not even a word of protest leaves her mouth as she takes off the mask she's been wearing for a few months now.

Even in the dim light Quincy can clearly see the abhorrent scar marring Victoria's left side of her face. It's the first time Quincy is seeing Victoria without a mask since Quincy only joined the crew two islands ago, so she can't help but gasp in horror at how bad it looks.

She can only imagine how bad it must have looked immediately after the injury. The skin is still red and welted, the stitches on the outlines of it ugly and obviously not done by a professional.

Quincy feels sad for Victoria. She's always admired the fierce woman, but Victoria must be feeling absolutely terrible about herself to have been hiding her face from her own crew for this long. Quince wonders if she even takes the mask off when in private with her two boyfriends.

And yet, despite apparently being so eager to hide her face, she's taken the helmet off in front of this stranger. It automatically makes Quincy grip her throwing knives. Never know when foul play is present.

The fortune teller herself doesn't give an audible reaction to Victoria's looks. She puts her hands on the table and demands: "Give me your hand, child".

The hands of the fortune teller are decidedly old and wrinkled, sporting ugly dark-green splotches that look very unhealthy. Quincy's starting to assume that the foul stench in the air might in fact be portruding from the fortune teller.

Once more, Victoria obliges wordlessly, holding out her hand for the strange woman to take.

The terifying mask leans closely over Victoria's hand, her long, slender fingers stroking Victoria's hand in a way that makes the hair on Quincy's neck stand up.

"Ahhh yes, my child. You are with death."

Victoria tenses up, but her voice is unmistakably shaky as she asks. "With death? Explain yourself, old hag." But the insult lacks the bite it would usually have.

"Your life line. It's thinner than I've ever seen before. You're not supposed to be alive. Death will come to you soon."

Victoria jerks her hand back towards her own body. "That's bullshit. I'm young. Not gonna just topple over and die." Quincy's pretty sure she can detect fear in her first mate's voice.

"Fear not, my child. Death is but the next step. The stars cannot discern whether it is your death that will come to you or the death of one of those two men close to you."

That's not something Victoria would ever tolerate hearing. It sounds like a barely veiled threat against Kidd and Killer, so she pounces on the fortune teller, knocking aside the table and candle to hold a blade against her throat. "How do you know about the two men?"

The fortune teller cackles, a haunting noise that makes Quincy and Victoria even more uncomfortable. "I know more about you than you know about yourself, Victoria Shiruton Doruyanaika."

Victoria flinches, accidentally drawing blood with the blade. "How the fuck do you know my name?"

The woman cackles again. "I know everything. That's why you came to me, after all. You know I have the answers. You can feel it too, can't you? The omen of death looming over your head."

Victoria stands up abruptly, pushing the fortune teller away with her foot. "Quincy. Come. We're done here."

It's becoming rather urgent that they leave, granted that one of the carpets and now the walls of the tent have caught fire from the candle toppling over.

Quincy looks at the woman laying in the corner. "Are we-"

Victoria cuts her off with a wave of her hand. "Let's get out of here."

The fortune teller doesn't make a move to stand up, just laying there, keeping up her ramblings. "Deny it all you want child. Your demise is imminent. Think of me, in those final moments. I will welcome you into the afterlife."

Quincy and Victoria head out of the tent quickly, the entire fabric now on fire.

Quincy tries to peer inside but they have to step back to avoid the smoke getting into her lungs.

Something inside the tent explodes, and they can hear the fortune teller scream in pain. Quincy is about to run back inside and kill the woman to not have to listen to her screams anymore at least, when the pained screaming suddenly turns into loud, manic laughter.

"VICTORIA!", the fortune teller yells between her fits of manic laughter. "Your omen of death has already brought death to this island! You will join me soon!"

Quincy drags Victoria away by the arm. Victoria seems somewhat dazed, eyes glazed over.

Quincy advises her to put her helmet back on before somebody sees her, but when Victoria slowly starts to want to put it on, Quincy's suddenly knocked back in a flurry of red hair and a waving black jacket.

It's Kidd, quickly holding onto Victoria's arms, shaking her slightly, worry flashing in his eyes. "Vicky. Vicky, what happened? Why aren't you wearing your helmet? I saw the explosion."

Victoria shakes her head. "I'm okay. Don't worry about it."

Quincy, gathering herself and getting back off the ground from the rude shove, scoffs. "Had a freaky run-in with a fortune teller. They knew Victoria's full name. And about you and Killer."

Kidd's body tenses, not liking this at all. "That's not good. Quince, get everybody. We're leaving this island. If they have intel like that on us without us even having bounty posters yet, this might be some form of trap. Make sure everyone's accounted for."

Quincy heads off to do just that.

Kidd, who's a bit unsettled by Victoria's dazed expression and getting to see her without her helmet for once, pulls her closer and kisses her desperately, trying to snap her out of it in the only way he knows how (that doesn't involve slapping her, at least).

It's like he can feel the life return to her during the kiss. Eventually she breaks it off and shakes her head as if to clear some bad thoughts. "Huh. Sorry, Kidd. Didn't mean to scare ya."

Kidd grunts. "Yeah. Don't do that again. Fucking hell. You okay? You didn't get hurt?"

Victoria shakes her head. "Purely emotional damage."

She musters a small smile when she sees Kidd's furious expression. "I'm kidding. That fortune teller just seemed a bit too legit. Creeped me out a good deal."

Kidd nods and looks at the tent of the fortune teller, now reduced to a pile of burning ash on the ground. "Not very good at her job if she couldn't foresee her tent burn down. And she was still in there? Didn't try to get out?"

Victoria shrugs, before donning her helmet again. "She was. We heard her screams. It was creepy as hell."

Kidd nods and grabs Victoria's hand roughly. "Come on. Back to the ship we go. This place is starting to creep me out too."

Thankfully the Kidd pirates had all managed to get off of the island unscathed. Kidd mentioned Victoria's strange adventure to Killer not long after, and it made the two of them even more protective towards her.

Masks - Day 7

One morning, as Killer and Victoria wake up next to one another (Kidd having been particularly grouchy and not wanting to join them the previous night), Killer wants to address a topic that has been weighing heavily on his mind.

"Vic. Do you still feel uncomfortable showing your face around the crew? You know you can trust everyone here."

She sighs, looking up at him, sleep still heavy in her eyes. "I don't want any sympathy."

He caresses her face, thumb lightly grazing over her scar. "You know that they won't pity you. Noone even talks about Heat's scars, and he has plenty."

She huffs. "Are you asking me because you're sick of wearing the helmet too? I never asked you to. You know that."

Killer shrugs and smiles faintly. "I don't really mind. I'm used to it at this point. I just want you to be happy with yourself. That includes your looks."

He supports his words by planting a light kiss on her scar.

She lays her head back down, leaning her forehead against his chest. "It's gotten better. I was thinking to maybe stop wearing the helmet soon."

K: "Good. I'm glad."

V: "You're starting to like it for yourself, aren't you? I saw your reaction when those marines mocked you the other day. You practically went feral on them."

Killer sighs. "Yeah. I can't stand that they all think they have any right to make fun of us. Just cause we're a new crew."

"It wasn't just that. They were particularly insulting you and your looks. Kidd and I love your looks, and we're the only ones that matter in this. Well, besides yourself."

Killer shudders involuntarily. "Yeah. I mean, I'm not wearing it around you and Kidd, I just- I can't help it. My negative thoughts spiral every time someone insults my face and my- my laugh."

"Oh, Killer." Victoria doesn't say much else for the rest of the morning, just showering him with affection, trying to show him just how beautiful she thinks he is through her love alone.

Music - Day 8

Sometimes, the Kidd pirates don't attack the civilians on the islands they dock at. Well, not at first at least.

Sometimes they start things off by giving a concert. Which a lot of the folks living at these islands are too scared to attend, so the crew members head out to force them to watch their concert.

Killer's the band's drummer, Kidd's on the electronic bass, Victoria and Heat are the lead singers, Quincy and Kidd are backup singers and ocassionally UK will come in on the saxophone.

Mostly it's just about having fun and getting to fuck around with the type of music these punks like.

Pound is usually the one responsible for setting up the stage and making sure everything's going to work fine for the Kidd Pirate's next concert.

Get ready - Day 9

So many preparations have been made. The Kidd Pirates have locked Kidd in his room so he can't see anything until everything's ready. Which he's been rather mad about, but none of his complaining and cursing made any difference.

Seeing as they're all still kids, it can be very hard to reach the ceiling to put decorations up, so they use Wire's taller stature a lot to have him hang things high up and when they need to go even higher, Heat's usually the first to sit on his shoulders and put the decorations up.

Killer has been hard at work baking a cake for the past few days. It's going to be human-sized and resemble a large, open treasure crate with "coins" - golden-coloured baked goods - spilling out. It's the most difficult cake Killer has ever set out to bake, and he's been laying awake at night worrying about the cake's structure collapsing in on itself or his greedy crewmates not being able to keep their fingers off of it.

Victoria, in the meanwhile, has been making sure to go ahead and raid the local junkyards on the islands the Kidd Pirates have docked at to get the best and most useful stuff before Kidd got his grubby hands on it. Because of that, she now has a large collection of gifts to give to Kidd (she's even sold some of the parts to her less-prepared crewmates, making good profit off of their lack of planning).

Pound and Quincy - as some of the more responsible and mature members of the Kidd Pirates - have been tasked with organizing everything for Kidd's birthday. They have a whole schedule of games planned as well as an outing by their band with songs that the siblings Hip and Hop wrote for the special ocassion. Usually planning and structure is very much not the Kidd Pirates' approach when it comes to partying, but they're all dead set on making it work for once to make their beloved captain and good friend happy.

Kidd Pirates Month Stories - Part 1

(talking about the big day tomorrow in bed at night)

Captain's birthday! - Day 10

Kidd's birthday is a roaring success.

No matter if Quincy's and Pound's planning was mostly for naught and the band members all got so drunk that they totally butchered all songs but the first (the first song being "Happy Birthday", they couldn't possibly butcher that one!).

Kidd had been like a dog possessed by a scent when they've finally let him out of his room come midnight and the day of his birthday.

They'd all wanted to congratulate him but he'd just gruffly thanked them abruptly and then went off, nostrils flared, searching for Killer and the huge cake he already knew he'd made.

Unfortunately, he had startled Killer so much by creeping up on him shifting around some decorations on the cake that Killer had almost fallen into the cake himself.

Kidd had managed to grab Killer and pull him back just in time. Killer would have blamed himself for ruining the cake for years to come if he hadn't, even though Kidd mostly just appreciates the amount of effort put in - and whether it's going to taste good or not!

It does in fact taste amazing. Kidd doesn't even know where to start eating - whether to eat the cake in form of a huge treasure crate, or to eat the baked goods pouring out of it first, but Killer had cut him down a slice of the crate and grinned that he should just see which one he liked better for now.

Once Kidd's stomach had been sated, he'd finally felt ready to welcome all of the congratulations, so everyone wished him a happy birthday, even the ones that had already.

Kidd was never a tolerable person to be around when he was hungry, and the other Kid Pirate kids respected that.

They all give him a big hug - except for Victoria and Killer, whom he receives a kiss from (Mosh tries to get a kiss as well, but he smacks him down quickly) - and then everyone starts talking all at once about what decorations they've put up, wanting to show all of their craftwork off all at once like the proud children that they are.

Frankly they're all talking over one another and Kidd can barely make out what anyone is saying, but once he's got a beer and his birthday cake in his hand he's more than happy to just grin and nod at whatever enthusiastic story his friends are telling him.

Once they've all had a slice of cake, Kidd is led to a large table with copious amounts of presents on it. It's huge, and he's not sure he's ever been gifted so much stuff in his life.

He gets super weird about it, continously saying that nobody had to get him anything and that they're stupid idiots for getting him so many gifts, but the blush on his cheek and the sparkle in his eyes betrays his absolute excitement at having so many gifts to open.

Every new treasure he uncovers under the wrappings gets a squeal followed by a manly "Damn, this is kinda nice" together with one out of various insults towards whoever gifted him the gift in question.

Overall, the birthday party is chaotic as all hell, but Kidd loves it to bits. While he's not so good at showing gratitude, he couldn't feel any more of it if he tried.

When the day grows late and the crew plays a bit of spin the bottle and Wire dares him to make out with Victoria, the two start snogging like there's noone else in the room.

That they've both already drunk plenty of beer definitely adds to their lack of shame, and the other participants of the game just start to play on without them as Kidd ends up falling asleep snoring like a chainsaw on Victoria's lap, completely spent, content and happy with the world.

Kidd Pirates Month Stories - Part 1

Relaxing / winding down - Day 11

The day after Kidd's birthday is marked as "hangover day" in the calendars of the Kidd pirates. Well, that and every other day following one of the crew's birthdays, but they always celebrate Kidd's birthday the most.

It's not that they appreciate one another any less, but he's their captain, after all. He's the greatest and coolest and so his party needs to be the greatest and coolest as well.

Cleaning up the mess of the party, however? Neither cool, nor great.

Which is why nobody ever bothers doing so.

Victoria lets them get through with it on the day after the party - feeling the effects of the hangover plenty herself - but on the second day she starts kicking the lazy butts of her crewmates and starts assigning clean-up duties for everyone.

The one's that grumble the most have to do the most work, Victoria tends to be a little evil in dishing out cleaning chores.

Because of this, Killer usually ends up with the least amount of work assigned to himself, but he doesn't mind so much as some of the other crewmembers, so he can usually be seen helping out even when he's already done with his own load.

Kidd, being the birthday boy, gets to do nothing whatsoever. Victoria did get him a silly cheerleader outfit for him to cheer on the crew while they work, however. It looks absolutely ridiculous and at first he yelled at her to put that crap on herself, but then he got curious how it'd look.

It's completely in blue, so it's not a total pink embarassment at least, but did Victoria really have to give him a cheerleader skirt? Looks so stupid.

But when he does put it on he finds that Killer is very much into the outfit and will start doing even more niceties for him than usual, and Kidd is certainly not above using Killer's new-found simping to his own advantage.

Later on in the night, when the three are all snuggled up together and Killer's already asleep, Kidd asks Victoria. "Did you know? That Killer would be so into the outfit."

Victoria chuckles. "Yeah. He mentioned it to me while he was drunk a while ago. Though he said he wanted to see me in that sort of outfit, I didn't know if he'd be into you wearing it too."

Kidd snorts. "Damn good idea, Vicky. Might need to put it on more frequently if it makes him so happy. But don't tell him I said that."

She presses a kiss to his cheek. "I won't. Maybe once all the cleaning's done we should both wear matching outfits. Although he might faint if he sees that."

Kidd laughs quietly. "That's a risk I'm willing to take."

After this the Modern AU continuous story starts which I'll post separately once it's done!! I think I'll make a separate post for the second half of the writing prompts that aren't the modern AU cause they'll only start back up in a little more than a whole week.

Doflamingo Helping Sophia With All That Sickness.

Doflamingo helping Sophia with all that sickness.

So, uh. I published Love at first bite (SanjixOC) and Breeder Village's (DoflamingoxOC, highly problematic) next chapters today on AO3. In this newest chapter of Breeder Village, Doflamingo helps a woman who feels sick after he takes her on a flight with him.

I made a joke making fun of the supposed AO3 author's curse just yesterday.

Then suddenly today I start feeling sick. Bim bang boom, I'm living out my Doflamingo fic fantasy. Except I don't have a Doflamingo helping me out. Fate forgot like the most important part to this equation. So yeah. I'm filing a complaint with Fortuna or whatever idiot was responsible for this.

Also, dear body, please let me at least drink water again? I'm starting to feel like this.

Doflamingo Helping Sophia With All That Sickness.

So yeah! A little rant post to file these coincidences together. I still refuse to believe in the curse cause screw that.

After my first bout of sickness I sat down in bed and drew Doflamingo with the last of my energy. I have a very strong tendency towards being melodramatic so I was like "if I go out here, I wanna go out doing what I love." Not that the art turned out particularly great because of that, unfortunately.

Either way! Thanks for coming to my pity party, I'll tone it down from here on out again, but I am just a melodramatic little bitch :^)

Comment on "Breeder Village"

Rough translation of the comment: "You gave me a thousand ideas with the premise of your fic [Breeder Village], can I use this for my OC and your Doflamingo? <3 <3"

Oh wow, thank you so much for liking my idea so much! I'm so honored!

The village is said to house "some of the most beautiful women the Grand Line has ever seen [...] from blondes to brunettes, young to old, tall to tiny, giants, mermaids, humans and even a celestial dragon or two." So please feel free to put your OCs in it!

Any female OC works for this, I'm so happy to bring the village to life a bit more by having other people's OCs live there too. The fic is of course NSFW and contains noncon, but if you want to slap your OCs in there then be my guest!!

Edit: This includes writing about it, making headcanons, art, whatever you'd like. All that I ask is that you link back to the original fic and don't claim the idea of the "Breeder Village" as your own in regards to Doflamingo! ^-^

Link to the fic! (Doflamingo x Reader)

I've Been Wanting To Do This For Corazon For Quite A While Now.

I've been wanting to do this for Corazon for quite a while now.

Originally I was going to do his "I love you!" face but thankfully I tried out drawing it before and decided against it.

I was okay drawing this and listening to my Corazon playlist.

But then this song came on.

Bring Me Back to Life
Spotify
Hr Bristol, Charlie Bannister, Vincent Steele, Nine One On · Epic Indie · Song · 2014

"Pumping blood, running dry, my heart's been beating all the time, to help this broken body live another night."

"I'm barely breathing, still holding on."

So those lyrics came on and then I thought about Corazon laying there... "I'll live just for a little longer. Just enough so your cries will be silent, Law."

.... no, I'm not okay. very much not.

was going to continue working on fanfics tonight but then I got sidetracked with this whole thing and now I'll have to stop crying first, but I'm working on it. Kinda. Or I'll start a new Corazon fic. Yeah. Yeah, that sounds good.
