As well as being super busy, I've felt quite unmotivated for a while too

Even if it's just a "insert-username liked your post" it makes me remember that people do want to read my writing. One simple thing changes a lot, whether it be a comment, share, or follow.

I'm not trying to persuade anyone to follow/share because of a single post that they like, I'm just trying to let you see how it affects me, as a writer.

Hajime and Makoto with an autistic s/o

Author’s notes: I tried my best to research what things to do differently in a relationship with a neurodivergent partner as apposed to a neurotypical partner, but I apologize if I got anything wrong, as I’m neurotypical. I did, however, make sure not to take any information from Autism Speaks, because I’ve heard that they heavily misinform and are just overall harmful to support. Anyways, I hope you enjoy and please tell me if anything I’ve put in this is incorrect or just how I can make it more inclusive and realistic. :)

Makoto:

He knew a little bit about what to do differently in a relationship with an autistic partner as opposed to a neurotypical

But he did still want to ask you what you preferred he do or don’t do, and asked if what he already knew was right or not

When you guys are talking, he’ll make sure to use physical tone indicators, to make it easier to understand the emotion behind what he’s saying. 

You guys even made a system for what each tone indicator is, so you know for sure what each one is; like holding your pinky up to mean positive indication, and your thumb and pinky fingers to mean joking, etc.

I feel like Makoto would ask for consent to hug/touch you before doing so, even if you tell him you are okay with physical touch

Or on the other hand, if you tell him that you feel uncomfortable with physical touch, he’d make sure to show you he loves you in ways that are more comfortable for you

If you have a rocking stim, and are okay with it, he’ll hold your hand and give you a little bit more momentum so he can feel like he’s helping

The first time you get overwhelmed and overstimulated, he would notice, but it might take him a minute to think of what to do

He’d apologize after wards for not noticing sooner, but it really wasn’t that long before he acted, so it was okay

Stim toys. He would get tons of ads on his phone for different stim toys and would send pictures to you to ask if that’s something you think you’d want or need 

He would make sure not to change anything without you knowing and okay-ing it; and because of his luck, changes- in routine or otherwise- wouldn’t often happen.

Hajime: 

At first, he wasn’t sure what was different between being autistic or not, so he researched ‘do’s and don'ts of being in a relationship with a neurodivergent person’

He also sat down and talked with you about what works best for you personally

And he does a really good job of following those do’s and don'ts

He even watched for how you reacted to different things in daily life and adjusted what he would do based on what he knew you liked/didn’t like

If you are out with friends and get overstimulated, he’ll know right away and won’t hesitate to excuse the both of you from the situation so you can self soothe and stim, if needed

He makes sure to ask you how you’re feeling throughout the day, and asking what he can do to help

When you happily stim, he watches and smiles, because he knows that you’re happy. If it’s a movement stim (like pacing in circles) he might even join you, if you’re alright with it, so he can bond with you

He’s definitely protective over you, and will make sure that everyone knows he won’t let anyone bully you about being autistic

If you ever want to make a comfort corner, with different things that help you calm down; like specific textured blankets, colors, or even items, he’d help you make it and keep it ‘structurally sound’

If you’re watching your comfort movie or show for the 30th time, he just sits with you and rewatches as if he’d never seen it before. Or he’ll point out little things he didn’t notice before.

He’s very good at keeping to a routine, and will try to keep everything going as smoothly as he can for you

I feel like the same thing goes for Nagito, but the other way around. Kinda

Like how is he ripped?? He's sick, how would he have the energy to actually workout often enough to have/maintain abs?

I think people forget some parts of the character's backstories to make them look/act a certain way, sometimes

Akane/Kiyotaka/Kazuichi reacting to an overprotective s/o

 Akane:

Akane has a habit of getting herself into trouble. Whether that be using her fists to get through to someone, or letting people use her body for personal gain. Along with her background, which just furthers your fears, because she doesn’t think twice about those things

That’s why you want to make sure to protect her when you can. Maybe a little too much, however.

Akane is stubborn, and tries to use her “gut feelings” as an excuse that she’ll be okay so you don’t have to worry about her.

 Even though her gut is never wrong, you still worry that something will happen. Because of this, when she goes out, you make sure to remind her to text you when she gets there.

 Or just ask to go with her, if you can. But you try not to impose. You definitely have to bribe her, with food, to not go to certain places. 

Especially her old neighborhood. 

You try to have her stay away from there as much as you can, and go with her when she visits family. 

Which doesn’t happen often, but you don’t trust it from what she tells you about it, so you’re extra cautious.

You definitely make her carry pepper spray, even though she knows how to fight.

“You can never be too careful” You tell her constantly.

She just rolls her eyes, but complies.

She doesn’t mind too much, most of the time, because she knows you love and care about her. Though she does still try to sway you to be more trusting sometimes, because she knows how to handle herself.

Kiyotaka:

Taka is definitely overprotective as well, and completely understands the feeling of wanting to keep his s/o safe.

Even if you didn’t ask him to text/call you often, to make sure you know where he is and that he’s safe, he’d do it anyway

And he asks that you do the same

Life 360 is downloaded on both of your phones, and you both check constantly when you’re not together.

He never really gets into any trouble because he knows how to stand his ground, though you still worry for him. 

Before he goes anywhere, you make sure to ask him how long he thinks he’ll be out, and to text or call you if the estimated time changes, so you know if he’s safe or not while he’s out.

Just because you don’t want him to go missing even though, again, it’s unlikely.

All-in-all, he understands why you ask him to do these things, and won’t hesitate to do as you ask. 

Partly because he believes it’s the ‘rules’ of the relationship, but also because he’d do the same, if he felt wary at all.

Kazuichi:

Kazuichi never really had anyone care about his safety as much as you do, so he doesn’t understand why, exactly, you’re so protective.

The first time you tell him all the things you’d like him to do if he plans on going anywhere, he thinks you’re joking.

He texts you “heading out lmao” as a joke, half-thinking that you’d been joking. But when you respond “Okay, where are you going? Do you know how long you’ll be out? Is anyone going with you?”

He understood, actually answered the question and was more careful than he probably would’ve been.

But he does what you suggest, when he remembers.

Don’t get me wrong, he doesn't have a horrible memory, but when it comes to safety, he either already carries a knife with him or just doesn’t think about it at all.

Like, some days, he’ll bring his favorite handmade knife, and other days he’d just leave without thinking twice about it.

But you try to remind him anyway.

You want him to call or text you when he gets places, and make sure you know when/where he’s going at all times.

But he also sometimes forgets to tell you he’s going out, especially if you’re at work or school. He just doesn’t want to bother you, even though you asked him to.

If you get upset by him forgetting to tell you, he’d apologize and try to remind himself to tell you again next time.
