Character analyses' are so fun to read because people have so many different thoughts about a single character and how that character has changed and will change in response to the environment and people around them.
Take Dazai Osamu for instance-there are so many different interpretations of his character and they figure all of that out from minute details in the novel/manga he's in. Like no, I wouldn't have figured out the connection between his ability to control his heartbeat and his humanity but thank you for taking the time out of your day to point that out.
Or someone from a completely different fandom, like say, a similar detective character who also goes around solving cases because they've inherited that trait from a mentor they deeply respect. MaoMao from Apothecary Diaries! There are numerous analysis' about not only her and how her past (being raised in a brothel) deeply affected her emotional regulation, but also posts about other people in the fandom and the symbolism behind every scene and visual metaphor used.
But in both fandoms, their respective members won't always agree with each other.
And it's just such a joy to see what people's thoughts are and their feelings about a character/characters/anything really that they're incredibly passionate about. Even if I don't always agree with them. It's just so nice to see for me. So this is a post for all who write analysis' on character's. You're doing gods work keep it up!!!
Someone on here ranted about their dislike for when Percabeth fanfictions have Annabeth's favourite color be sea-green or like Percy's eyes, and referenced their own Annabeth's favourite colour to be Lavender. And now I read so many fanfictions that have Annabeth's favourite color be either yellow (another color they mentioned,) or lavender. So much so, that I don't know whether they're happy about it or not
No, I don't agree with you. But please, go on.
The hero or villain debate has always been fascinating to me because personally, I would rather love the hero. Not because of their personality or anything but because if it came down to it, and the hero would be forced to choose between me or the world, I would rather they choose the world.
Because that's the world-that is billions of people with lives separate from your own that will suffer because of that decision. Your teachers, your classmates, your animals, a grandma that finally beat cancer, a child who was finally born.
"A hero would sacrifice you to save the world-" I'm gonna stop you right there because that's all I need to hear.
While I do see the appeal in picking the villain, I think I'd rather be loved by someone kind enough to put others first before themselves, and if sacrificing me is the way to do it, I'd have lived and died happy.
Either that or I'm reading too much into a fantasy plot and giving my two cents on a topic no one really cares about.

What I love about alien stage is in it's universe the embodiment of human perfection is a blonde twink with repressed emotions and the person who ends up beating him is an equally repressed but very angry lesbian.
Alien stage headcanons (because I love them all and they deserved better)
• Mizi fell in love at first sight, Sua was curious at first sight
• Till's first thought when he met Ivan for the first time was: "I didn't know prince's existed"
• Ivan's was: "Nom"
• When Till isn't pining over Mizi, him and Sua are actually really good friends and will either shit on Ivan or just hang out whenever they meet
• Ivan and Mizi are best friends and are together a lot much to the chagrin of Till and Sua
• This is also how Till and Sua got close
• Hyuna had a very small crush on another Anakt kid before Luka came, but it was quickly replaced when she layed eyes on the twink and was like: "Nevermind him, I want this one"
• Hyunwoo had similar thoughts but more hyper and platonically
•Hyunwoo felt the vibes whenever the three hung out and would try to act as both of their wing mans
Now onto the sad headcanons! (Hey just because I love them doesn't mean I won't make them suffer)
• After Sua died, Mizi taught herself to fall asleep very quickly and for longer because her dreams were the only place they could meet each other
• Till never had time to mourn Ivan (because he was up against Luka almost immediately after) but he threw up in the break room after seeing a specific shade of red
• Hyuna never could bring herself to stop loving Luka, but she lived and died angry
• Till's last 7 minutes weren't just filled with Mizi, they were also filled with Sua and Ivan
• Hyunwoo never would've blamed anyone
Sometimes, I think about how much Alhaitham's entire adult life has been shaped by Kaveh and I just... have to sit down for a second.
Kaveh was Alhaitham's first, and, as far as we've been told, only friend until recently. At the very least, Kaveh was likely his only close friend throughout Alhaitham's entire schooling years, from teens into adulthood.
Alhaitham lives in the house he received for his work with Kaveh. The house Alhaitham lives in wouldn't even exist without Kaveh.
Alhaitham's ideology and behavior have been shaped by his diametric opposition to Kaveh's perspectives. He acts and thinks the way he does in part because of how their debating over years shaped how Alhaitham sees the world.
He's become an active part of a friend group almost entirely because of Kaveh. Alhaitham's story quest says that he didn't become particularly friendly with the rest of Sumeru's saviors even after they saved the archon, but now we see him hanging out with Cyno and Tighnari all the time because Kaveh was friends with them first and eased the way.
He even drinks a particular brand of coffee because he and Kaveh picked it together.
If you removed all trace of Kaveh from Alhaitham's life, virtually nothing would be the same. He wouldn't live where he does now. His house wouldn't look like it does inside at all. He very likely wouldn't have a single close friend. His ideology would probably be significantly more pragmatic and cold. Literally the only thing in Alhaitham's current life that hasn't been shaped in some way by Kaveh is Alhaitham's job. Which is... probably why work is Alhaitham's least favorite aspect of life.
Meanwhile, Kaveh is honest to archons over here wondering "What does Alhaitham even think about me?"
I don't know, buddy, probably that you're his whole world?
Hiiii!!! I’m relatively new to ALNST (as in I watched it all in one go in one night and cried) and I was wondering if you have any opinions or information about this,
What do you think about Till and Sua’s relationship? Do you think they’d share anything in common? Do you think they’d like each other? I’d like to think there’s at least one thing they share in common that’s led to be on good terms.
Sorry this is a bit long, thank you!
First of all, thank you anon. I've had thoughts on this for a while! Thanks for giving me a chance to talk about it!
Till and Sua don't often interact in canon, so it's pretty easy to assume that Sua would hate Till's guts because of his crush on Mizi (especially since that art of Mizi playing with Till includes Sua looking jealous on the side, sulking in the next page).
But something to note about the characters in ALNST is that they're actually quite respectful of each other despite the crush conflict (further seen by Ivan and Mizi being very friendly despite Ivan knowing Till loves Mizi). Everyone in the garden knew Till had a crush on Mizi, the goodbye notes state that it was very obvious.
Yet despite that one instance of Sua pouting at Mizi and Till together, Sua is never shown to dislike Till. In fact, she seems to be more conflicted with Ivan instead. In the few official arts we have of them together, they seem pretty neutral.
(Sua's collar is green, showing she's comfortable/doesn't mind Till. Till's collar is orange most likely because he's a little nervous/awkward.)
In the official Anakt Kit goodbye letters, Till and Sua write messages to each other. They're short and seem more of a polite gesture than an actual goodbye between friends, but nothenless it shows that they're pretty amicable. Till writes that Sua has a nice voice and that he hopes she gets a high score in Alien Stage, while Sua tells him to take care and that she'll see him there.
I think that Sua and Till actually have the potential to be pretty good friends, strangely enough.
As for similarities, there are quite a few!
The most significant similarity I see between Till and Sua is that they're both deeply sensitive. Due to this, they've developed different defense mechanisms in order to protect their feelings.
Till is actually known to be timid, rather closed off and "cold" to others. In an early stream, he's even stated to be the most timid character of the cast. He only reveals his energetic and fiery side when he's putting his full passion into something like performing his music, when he's provoked, or whenever Mizi is involved (she makes him "strong", the creators say). Of course this standoffish and aggressive behavior is a front for his softer, more vulnerable feelings. He was heavily mistreated as a child, which led him to become distrustful of most people. This plus other factors regarding his rebellious nature and more eccentric personality result in him being a "friendless idiot". Of course, once people get to know him they'll find that Till is actually quite the sweetheart, albeit a bit awkward.
Sua is quite similar in this way. The creators describe her as soft-hearted, which is why she tears up so quickly in the IvanSua comic and the aforementioned art of Till and Mizi playing together.
Sua, just like Till, seems to be mistreated by her alien guardian. Although to a less violent extent than Guardian Urak, Sua's parent is seen to aggressively handle her without care, grabbing her by the head and shoving her forward. She's also placed in uncomfortable clothing and neglected without consideration for her own feelings. It may be due to this cold and lonely upbringing that Sua learned to hide her emotions as a coping mechanism.
It's been said that getting to know more about Sua is very difficult, as she's closed off and only ever opens up to Mizi. She seems cold on the surface, but the truth is she is hiding her sensitivity so that she won't get hurt. Sua is also very timid in nature, seen in how she only writes in the corners of people's yearbook pages with small font, putting in extra effort to not take up too much space.
But just like Till, Sua has her bolder side. Occasionally she's known to say very blunt and suprising things that other people would not expect of her, and she feels very deeply for the people she cares about. Sua may be the more cool and collected half of MiziSua, but we must not forget that she was tender-hearted to the point where she could not imagine living a life without Mizi in it, thus her sacrifice.
Both Sua and Till's original colors are white, and both are the only characters in the main cast who have ear piercings/earrings. They're both prone to tears and play the role of "god" in their respective relationships.
Something I really like about the ALNST offrec/actor AU is that among all the characters, Till and Sua were chosen to be the seniors!! I found it really cute! Sua, who is the most petite and smallest of the cast + Till, who in canon is the youngest in age. These two are actually the experienced seniors of the actor AU! It's so fun to me lol
Anyways, sorry for all of this, maybe it was a bit much, haha. Till and Sua are my two favorites, and I've always seen similarities between the two of them. I think there's similarities across several of the characters in ALNST, actually, which I hope to talk about in the future!
Thank you for the ask!!
In the prologue chapters, Lari described that she might have been cute as a child, wearing ribbons, flower decorations, and girlish accessories (like now actually), when her hair got long and she became an adult, she stopped all that to act the role of a proper noble lady from House Belois. As an adult, she considered herself the furthest away from a pretty person - she had unremarkable features with pale, washed out light brown hair and eyes (compared to the rich dark brown characteristic of House Belois), and constantly had a serious expression on her face, and held proper posture at all times. Her expressions were easily displayed on her face, and thus her irritable nature was obvious for everyone to see. Under the watchful eye of her father, she never wore accessories and only dressed herself up simply with plain brown/dark colored dresses. Thus, Lari considered herself unremarkable in EVERY aspect: intelligence, beauty, character, appearance, fashion, even facial expressions.
It didn't help that at 15, she expected a lot of marriage proposals to start coming in for her, but they never did, even when she was 18, she never had a proper offer of marriage. It didn't make sense - as a daughter of a Count, just by having a title should make her desirable, even if she's not pretty or have a good personality, right? Even so, she was VERY excited for her debutante at 16 years old alongside Riche. This will be her first visit to the palace, and she can meet all the Capital Nobles - she was so excited at this opportunity! Her father didn't want to sponsor her, so she asked Aunt Amelia to because she had no one else to ask, and SHE REALLY WANTED TO DEBUT! Unfortunately, Aunt Amelia showed her the same care and consideration as in TL2 - which is she didn't care about Lari at all. She may have sponsored Lari under "House Belois", but it was utterly a disaster. Lari didn't know what it took to prepare for her own social debut, she didn't know the proper attire for it, she's never been to a ball before.. and thus.. the results were extremely disastrous. She was one of the main characters as a girl who debuted that day, but she appeared in one of her regular brown dresses - she even considered it shabby and worn out compared to the others - and she felt the sympathetic gazes of the girls and many ridiculing comments from others. She was left as a lonely wallflower who didn't socialize and dance with anyone, and no one offered to dance with her. It was utterly embarrassing. One person, Crown Prince Rupert, had introduced himself to her (Ch 6), and she was excited - but - she later realized he had known who she was, and just wanted to meet "Lariette of House Belois", and not "Lariette who just turned of age today". Even the Crown Prince had no interest in her as a person.
When she came back home from the TL1 debutante, it was VERY damaging to her self-esteem. She was convinced that no one would ever love her, she's failed as a lady of House Belois because she could never get married and have her own family. Even though she enjoyed reading romance novels, she concluded that it wouldn’t ever happen to her, and she didn’t want to dream of it anymore :(. But at least she has her beloved family who can take care of her, and she'll always be under her father's careful supervision to make sure she's safe, so that's ok, right?
In TL2, we see the trauma persisting - she didn’t bat an eye when Rupert called her fat/ugly at the start (because she really thought she was), she didn’t question it when he said she looked dumb so she was great for spying on the merchants (while he actually thought she would be a good choice because she was cute and the merchants would lower their guard around her).
During Rupert's crown Prince coronation event in Ch 76, Lari is very confident that no one will ask her to dance, and was fine with being in the background and not joining in the festivities. During the debutante arc starting in Ch 99, Lari's repeatedly said that she doesn't want one, she's scared of participating in it this year... and it gets to the point where Elaine and Rupert have to convince her to participate (they've been at it for 3 months!). She denied having House Belois and Aunt Amelia help out (they didn't offer anways), but she couldn't say no when Rupert himself offered to sponsor her. She finally opens up and admits to Rupert in the library that she's scared to attend, because what if no one invites her to dance? then it'll be a super embarrassing, shameful memory. But of course, Rupert tells her that if that happens, then she'll just have to dance with him then. ;)
Why are comments so hard to find now? I see a post I like and check on the comments only to find either none or some random thing that has nothing to do with why I interacted with the post in the first place. Like no thoughts, no engagement, no nothing? I notice this a lot more on Tumblr but this applies to other platforms too (ie: Youtube, Twitter, etc...)
Could just be a case of the post not having any views in the first place but c'mon man
