For the longest time I've pretty much thought that Percy Jackson and Hermes are both my fav characters? like their both tied first place. Can't choose between them.

But then I saw a Percy Jackson anti talk shit so much shit about him... and like. it wasn't even things that Percy did wrong. Part of it was just them going "yeah Percy did all that but I don't don't he deserved a reward. I don't think he's worth anything. I don't think he's smart - he's dumb and all his plans were dumb" and boy. let me tell you. I was M A D.

This is not how I wanted to figure out that I like Percy Jackson more than Hermes. Hermes hate makes me lowkey mad but Percy Jackson hate?

It's an entirely different year (less than a month tho) and I'm still steaming M A D.

Nothing pisses me off more in this fandom than 1. people insulting Percy's intelligence (a kid with two learning disabilities) or 2. not acknowledging how much blood, sweat, tears, insomnia, time, risk etc. Percy has put into his quests and fighting the war. And to have that so casually disregarded? *exhales* yeah as you can tell I'm still fucking pissed.

but anyways, long story short: Percy Jackson is now my undisputed all time fav fictional character :)

Reasons why the rest of the JL believes Batman and all of his children are metas/cryptids

-Weirdly good instincts

-They only see the bat and kids at night

-Hasn’t died

-If they have died, they came back within the year

-The JL has seen all of them at one point or another stay up for 96 hours straight and act semi-normally

-One time Batman was stabbed and started bleeding green(it was slime Bruce packed for kids to play with if they were at a crime scene)

-Red Robin didn’t cry while watching A Dogs Purpose for Young Justice’s movie night(he did, the mask hid his tears)

-They all know an absurd amount of Golf facts

-Somehow none of them age

-All of them are friends with a super

Wonder Women has the list and they update it after every mission.

WHO HERE THINKS THAT WE SHOULD'VE GOTTEN MORE ANNABETH AND POSEIDON MOMENTS? You know how Athena disapproves of and threatened Percy? Well

.DO THAT WITH POSEIDON AND ANNABETH! Let them meet. Let Annabeth squirm. Let Poseidon smile, but let it not quite reach his suddenly cold green eyes. Let him size her up, and let her be found wanting. LET HIM SILENTLY THREATEN HER NOT TO HIT PERCY AGAIN! Let him disapprove of Annabeth's nickname for him! Let Percy defend it, defend Annabeth from Poseidon! Let Poseidon tell Percy that if things don't work out (in a way that he implies that he hopes it doesn't work out) that he can hook up with a sea nymph or naiad or something! I just feel like this was SUCH a missed opportunity. To show that Poseidon loves Percy and thinks that he can do better than a plain daughter of Athena! (At least Poseidon thinks so).

Can someone write this, please? I would, but I already have something else going on.

I wish Rick would do this in the show. Unfortunately he probably won't :(

Oh, obviously,” Reyna said. “Without you, I doubt Percy could find his way out of a paper bag.” “True,” Annabeth agreed.

I was thinking about this quote earlier, and now I present to you, a list (taken from my memory, so some examples may be missing) of everything Percy managed to achieve either without Annabeth in the picture or with very minimal involvement from her:

Fighting a fury (Alecto), and killing her

Fighting the Minotaur, and killing him

Resisting Clarisse’s bullying

Managed to pull off a difficult sword manoeuvre (according to Luke) on his first try (granted he did douse himself with water, but that was before Percy knew of his parentage)

Fighting against around 6 Ares campers whilst Annabeth stood there and watched

Fought a Chimera

Was the one to realise something was wrong at the Lotus Hotel and Casino and broke Annabeth out of her delusions

Dealt with Procrustes

Bribed Charon to take them into the Underworld

Possibly a questionable one, but I would say coming up with the plan to distract Cerberus. If you agree that the plan was basically ‘distract Cerberus with playtime’, (which Grover credits Percy with), the issue was not the plan but the items involved. Since if it was Annabeth’s plan originally why wouldn’t she just use the red ball straight away?

Fights Ares and draws first blood (or ichor, in the case of Ares)

In the fight against the Laistrogynians, Annabeth doesn’t show up until almost the end. Tyson does most of the work, why isn’t Tyson gettting credit, Reyna? 😡

Saves Annabeth from the Sirens

Alongside Tyson, fights Polyphemus

Is the one to give the Fleece to Clarisse, meaning Luke can’t get his hands on it. Annabeth calls him insane for doing this and says he’s ‘too nice’ and acts as though Percy is mad for trusting Clarisse to get back to camp.

Proves Chiron’s innocence and gets rid of Tantalus.

Fights and comes up with the strategy for defeating the Nemean Lion, with the help of Thalia, Zoe, Bianca, and Grover

Comes up with the strategy for beating Talos

Figures out how to escape the Spartoi at Hoover Dam

Captures Nereus

Works to convince Thalia that Zeus does care about her and not to sacrifice the Ophiotaurus

Fights Atlas

Holds up the sky

Deals with Geryon, first by cleaning the stables and then by killing him

Defeats his brother Antaeus (I will acknowledge that Annabeth tells him about Antaeus’s parentage though)

Eventually figures out that they need a clear-sighted mortal to navigate the Labyrinth (and a reminder that Annabeth admitted she had no idea what she was doing)

The entirety of the Stolen Chariot

The entirety of The Sword of Hades

Explodes Kronos’s ship with Beckendorf (the reason it didn’t go well is because of the spy, not because Annabeth was out of the picture)

Fights Kronos

Fights Hades and his army

Deals with the Hudson and the East, and by extension the monsters crossing the rivers

Fights the Minotaur (again)

Fights Kronos (again)

Deals with the Clazmonian Sow

Fights Hyperion with the help of the satyrs and nature spirits

Convinces Poseidon to come and help with Typhon

Continuously kills Stheno and Euryale

Manages to trick both Phineas and Gaea

Kills Polybotes with the help of Terminus

Defeats an entire cohort of Roman ghosts on his own

Becomes Praetor of New Rome

Causes a massive storm with Jason

Fights Otis and Ephialtes with the help of Jason and Bacchus

Comes up with the strategy (on the spot) for defeating Chrysaor

Defeats Akhlys on his own

Is at least part of the reason why Bob is in Tartarus to help them (the rest of the credit goes to Nico)

There’s probably a load more I’m missing, but that’s all I can remember up to the end of House of Hades. Is there a reason why Annabeth doesn’t bother to correct Reyna?

I was just thinking about the Riordanverse and, man, Percy Jackson is such a versatile character

Like, he's the main character of the first saga and he's funny and smarter than he lets on and VERY vocal about his gruffs with the system and his willingness to change it, and his fatal flaw is loyalty which makes him simultaneously very kind and very rightfully angry all the time

Then you go to The Lost Hero where he is (narratively speaking) Annabeth's dead wifeℱ, haunting the narrative and leaving a bleeding hole in his absence

Then he gets reintroduced again but, for the first time ever, he has to share the spotlight and, guess what? He's amazing from that perspective too! He works so well as a friend and a brother-in-arms and a lover and a victim and an unwilling symbol of the pinacle of accomplishment in this world and a humble guy who refuses power at every turn to remain loyal to his humble origins and you just wanna see him interact with everyone and see what people he brings up and which he brings down. A perspective on his character that is, in my opinion, only more highlighted by his role on the Greek-Egypt crossover books where he bounces off the Kane siblings and Annabeth amazingly once again.

AND THEN you get him as a background character in Magnus Chase. Funny story: I read the Nordic saga before the Greek one. As a reader without knowledge of Percy Jackson, he was a funny and intriguing character. As a rereader after getting my hands on Percy Jackson, he is a great cameo that stays in-character throughout.

AND THEN on The Trials of Apollo you get him AGAIN on a NEW perspective as a supporting character and I'm still halfway through this saga but the stretch I've read on him is once again fresh and exasperated while carrying the looming presence of Who He Has Been and Who He Can Be if the narrative calls him

Like, I've seriously never seen a character that has played so many different roles and has played them all so well across his entire franchise. Few characters do it like Percy Jackson, staying so interesting in so many ways

No offence but Percy being made to feel guilty about how the gods forgot about Calypso because he was ~a little preoccupied~ and having that guilt validated is bullshit. Calypso cursing Annabeth for Percy leaving her is bullshit. Percy bearing the blame for that curse is bullshit. Annabeth having to pay the price & then basically being treated as a background prop for this shitty plot line is bullshit. Leo holding it against Percy for not choosing Calypso over saving the world is bullshit. I’m sorry if u think I’m wrong but like if it wasn’t gna be fleshed out why was it introduced I hate this

reminder that percy's rebellious nature. often linked to the lack of restraint he inherits from his father. could also derive from the abusive and toxic environments he grew up in. and him undermining the authoritative rule of the adults in his life was likely a defense mechanism. because it was the only thing he could control when every aspects of his life felt like someone was plotting his downfall. so.

Something something Percy being the demigod most connected to nature. Protected from fire, breathes underwater, talks to animals, blessed by pan, shares an empathy link with the lord of the wild, awoke the earth with a drop of his blood

you know who would never let nico forget it?

annabeth.

It takes them a while to notice, but after Tartarus, Percy and Annabeth realize that they're being attacked far less than they used to. Annabeth reasons that their journey has proven their strength and that monsters now avoid them out of fear. Percy thinks that the monsters see no difference between themselves and him now
he wonders if they’re right.

Tony: I don’t want kids! Their germy hands touch everything. Just being near them causes me to feel ill.

Pepper: Okay so you don’t like kids because they might get you sick, but when Peter was sick last week you—

Tony: That’s different, okay? We don’t know how Peter’s enhancements work yet so it was imperative someone keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn’t keel over

Pepper, smirking: -And rub his back. And sing to him. And let him fall asleep in your lap. And—

Tony: Who told you all that?

Pepper: FRIDAY recorded everything

We should have dove into Gabe and Percy's relationship a bit more.

I wish we got more closure than he got turned to stone. The fact that he would beat Percy up and then tell him not tell his mom because it's a "guy secret" is horrendous.

I wonder if Sally knew - I wonder if she pretended not to know. I wonder if Gabe threatened to hit Sally if Percy told her. they say Tartarus smells like your worst fear and Percy said it smelt like Gabe that has to mean something...

That is one thing that I was sad about in the show. I wish we could have had commentary on how this is not okay.

percy never promised to keep bianca safe and we have failed as a fandom because so many people think he did.

Percy Never Promised To Keep Bianca Safe And We Have Failed As A Fandom Because So Many People Think

this is page 119 of the titan's curse. it's definitely a matter of wordplay, but "ill do my best" is NOTHING close to a surefire promise. he never promised.

thats not to say i don't understand where the confusion came from. this is page 290 of house of hades.

Percy Never Promised To Keep Bianca Safe And We Have Failed As A Fandom Because So Many People Think

rick riordan himself says it-- but it. just. isn't. like i NEED to talk about this cause i keep seeing "percy promised" thrown around the fandom. "i'll do my best" isn't a promise. percy never promised.
